OK, hear me out here... Grace is both amusing and annoying as heck with her chaotic nature. I both like her and dislike her.
I actually mostly like her, but when she's annoying, she's
really
annoying!
The romance part of the book was a bit on the weaker side in this book, but the romance hasn't exactly been rock solid through out the series. It's fun, but mostly surface deep.
The FBM turning up and reaching out for the youngest Fairfield witch and sending her off to solve a murder on her own felt even more implausible than in book #2.
Through out the book, Grace introduces herself as working for the FBI when humans are around, but she's got no badge. No identification. Nothing.
And on top of everything, she's in her 20s and sometimes acts younger.
I couldn't suspend enough disbelief to buy it for even a millisecond and this was part of why the glamour and shine of the "Hex Support" really started to fall apart in this book.
Calling it "flimsy at best" would be too much praise in terms of how this plot device is rigged and used.
So... Yeah. Don't think about it and you'll be fine!
Also, if you wondered through out book 2 where the heck Palmer went, you actually get to see him briefly in this one, before the end. Same thing with Elizabeth's werewolf. They make an appearance, but that's about it.
All in all though. I had a good time with these books.
This third one had a fairground and ghosts and a really good mystery so that was all really nice.
