Can two people who have never been loved change a marriage of convenience into a love match?
Clara Hatfield knows sorrow. Having been abandoned by her husband, then shamed with divorce, she traveled to Creede, Colorado to seek refuge with a brother who left the family a decade ago. She’s been living with him for the past year. Now he wants to sell her in marriage to settle his gambling debt to a known troublemaker, but Bernard Newell intervenes.
Bernard hopes his dangerous past is behind him. Desiring a peaceful life, he has settled in Creede and opened a law practice at the new boarding house where Clara works. She’s shy, and he’s bold. She’s petite, and he’s tall and muscular. She’ll turn the other cheek as quick as he’ll pull his six-shooters. Do opposites attract? Well, they attract trouble.
Bernard Newell, lawyer, has set up shop in the local eatery. It seems to be the best place, at least until his permanent office is ready. After all, where else can you hold your own personal court , and have service from the pretty waitress, Clara Hatfield. But strange things are happening in Creede and pennies keep appearing in odd places. Clara's brother Arlo, is a perfect skunk and he is forcing Clara to marry Quint Doolin as payment of a debt. But Judge Milton is wise to these two and asks for ten dollars rather than the usual two bits. Shamefully between Arlo and Quint they have the money, but Bernard has been prompted and his money hits the table first and before you know it a wedding has been completed. But Bernard has secrets and Clara has secrets. Whyen Jess, Bernard's brother shows up things get extra complicated and when Clara realizes she has feelings for Bernard, they scare her, but her angel is young, pretty and tough. In her cowboy hat, and guns she can stop time. And you'd be surprised what you can accomplish in a very short span of time, especially in Creede where Cowboys and Angels flourish.
This was SO GOOD! The plot unfolded like a beautiful flower revealing more and more goodness developing in each of the main characters. The cruel outlaws keep things interesting and show how our main hero and heroine have made much better choices in their lives then most of their families. Goodness does pay off! And true love does conquer all!
This is the 21st book in the Cowboys and Angels series. We've heard of Bernard Newell the lawyer who helped Edwin get a large settlement for destroying his original cafe. We heard of Clara when the women were captured and held in the root cellar. Now we hear their stories. The angel in this story is quirky and enjoyable.I highly recommend this series.
Two people, who both have suffered greatly in their lives. They meet and see each other most days. Her sorrow is from death. His he runs from family. They find themselves at the end of a cliff. Can they take the leap in to a forevermore family. Do they take a leap because of. Past pain.
I greatly enjoyed reading this twenty-first in the Cowboys and Angels series. I so love the continuing characters that are brought in to the new stories. It make you feel like part of a huge family. Clara and Bernard are promised love and a happy ever after.
I loved this story line. There was never a dull moment. I hope Clara's little one is okay. I have read all of these books and can't wait for the next one. I would recommend this series to anyone who loves wholesome romance.
This is a sweet inspirational romance with a fun plot and quite a character of an angel. Characters were well written and the plot had enough action to keep things interesting.
I absolutely loved this story. It was so sweet and I loved how the couple was connected from the start of the book by marriage and then we got to see them come together as a couple and find love.
This story was so interesting and moved so quickly. I wanted it to go on and on. Hopefully we will hear more about Clara and Bernard in later books. I really fell in love with them!
Always such great stories. This is a great series. The authors work so hard to bring us magic. The ones in this series work extra hard and the amazing series is one of the best. I can never put them down.
I enjoyed this story in spite of proofreading errors. They were merely annoying while the characters in this story had me enthralled. Thanks for creating the romantic tension between Bernard and Clara. It made their love for each other more believable.
Sweet story of a rushed, unexpected marriage that turned out to be a blessing. Will the secrets that both Clara and Bernard have from their former lives ruin what they’ve found? Read and find out ☺️❤️
Another great book in a great series. I loved Bernard and Clara's story. These two needed each other to find love and overcome their past. A great read.
Leaving behind a bad past, Clara and Bernard find each other truly by accident. Bernard used his caring attitude to help Clara escape from her brother's actions. This is a great series!
This starts out as a marriage of convenience between Bernard and Clara. So many things happen after that you just have to read the story as nobody can weave a story like Jo Noelle. They did it again.💜💜💜 I loved this book
Bernard /lawyer and Clara/hearth and home I enjoyed reading this captivating story that had me entranced till the end. Their story had drama, strong elements of faith/hope and trust. This story has a satisfying HEA but I think it needs an epilogue.
