My job is providing happiness and smiles at Honeywood Fun Park, and Emory Dawson is the frown our park didn’t ask for.
When our star roller coaster malfunctions with me on board, the manufacturer’s heir and lead engineer, Emory, vows to renovate the attraction. So instead of having a fun summer season as Marketing Manager for Honeywood, I’m now saddled with playing host.
Wonderful.
Emory is the opposite of a good time. He’s the grump that won’t stop grumping, and our arguments escalate quicker than my heart rate after a roller coaster’s fall.
He knows I can see right through his broody gaze and big ideas. Repairing the coaster? More like overhauling his own company’s reputation, regardless of whether it helps our local theme park.
But when our firm handshakes start lingering too long, or when his muscled thighs rest against mine under the table, I’m thrown for a loop.
Most roller coasters are fun, but I’d like to get off this emotional one, please.

The first half made me so hopeful that it would be amazing. The banter, the chemistry, the romance was there but then the third act breakup really killed the fun ugh. Like I was laughing so hard at their stupid jokes and everything too. But it died out and then i lost interest.
If you’re looking for something low commitment and fun to read this is the one <3

five stars! ⋆ ˚。⋆୨୧˚ … and what if i said this book is what ‘the fine print’ wishes it was 🤨 because DAMN. this book was everything!
literally had me sucked in from the first chapter, i easily fell in love with lorelei’s character and the plot. honeywood sounds like an absolute dream theme park, tbh, and i just adored the setting of a small town so much. the writing style was so easy to fall into, and all of the characters were so distinct and realistic. i sincerely hope every one of lore’s friends get a novel, because i genuinely want to read bennett and ruby’s story so freaking bad, and i HATE friends to lovers stories so that’s saying something.
lorelei and emory were so freakin fun to read about. the pure dislike at first, the witty banter, the stolen glances and prolonged eye contact?? amazing. 10/10. and when they finally got together?? jesus christ. the mouth on emory 😮💨 i definitely wasn’t expecting it but good lord was it provocative. and the fact that he stretches out his hand when he’s anxious, which immediately makes me think of the hand flex scene from ‘pride and prejudice’?? he’s so fine.
definitely wasn’t anticipating loving this as much as i did, but i genuinely couldn’t put it down. i was smiling throughout the whole book, it seemed. i’m so excited to pick up the next one!
˗ˏˋ ꒰ ♡ ꒱ ˎˊ˗ A ROMANCE SET IN AN AMUSEMENT PARK? SIGN ME UP.
i easily fell in love with julie olivia's novel. all downhill with you is a comfort read that will provide laughter, swoons, and lots of cute moments. it follows lorelei who works at an amusement park named honeywood as a marketing manager. she has had an accident while on one of the coasters, so she has decided to sue them only because she wants to know how that even happened. she never expected the man who created the roller coaster himself to appear before her.
so, as u can see, these two are enemies to lovers. i mean, lorelei is suing emory's company, or well, his father's company. she's very furious with everything that happened and with reason because what the hell! but when she finally meets emory, everything turns bad because he's grumpy, rude, and sometimes doesn't even reply when a conversation is happening. they start on the wrong foot like every enemies-to-lovers romance book but that soon turns into something more when they finally realize that the other is not really that bad and there's far more than they don't know.
emory is hands down so in love with lorelei since the first moment he sees her. IT'S SO AAAAAhhhh. his inner thoughts? CHEF KISS! i love him so much and he's so cute whenever he's near her. like he cannot help himself, he wants to always make her smile. he compares her smile and personality to the sun and says that it brightens up his days. lorelei is the besttttt! she's that type of character who is so nice to everyone except him lmao like the way he makes her so mad at the beginning!! i do love the interactions between them, they were a+, i had the best of times reading this book.
also this is steamy, my friends. it doesn't have A LOT. but it does have and it's open-door. he FINGERS HER WHEN THEY ARE ON AN RIDE AT THE PARK AND OH MY GOD???? sir??? when he says "good girl. eyes on me"???? i nearly passed out??? stop pls. I SERIOUSLY HAD TO CLOSE TO BOOK AND BREATHE FOR A MOMENT NGL. but yes, this book is wonderful and it has the perfect amount of adorable and smutty moments.
Rtc Totally safe No others after meeting and no ow or OM drama. Sadly I think the rest of the saga will not be as safe.
The others are in their late 20s and have known each other forever. So they have been others after meeting.
BUT NOT FOR THIS COUPLE bc he appeared later. The book starts with him coming to this small town for business and meeting h and coworking with her. Enemies to lovers bc he made the attraction that caused her her accident. She works in that theme park.

“Wait, how’d you find out where I lived?” “Fred told me. I said I needed to drop off maps.” “That’s wrong.” “Sue me.”
oh my gosh, my heart 🤍 ever since Julie announced her idea, I’ve been dying to read this book. And it was really good!!! I loved it!!
╰┈➤quick summary: Lorelei (29) works in Honeywood, the theme park in her hometown Cedar Cliff, and has been in two accidents in the main rollercoaster causing her a bad hip and the inability to run, which is why she sues the manufacturer. The son of the CEO of said manufacturer, Emory (36) comes to Cedar Cliff, to rectify and make a new rollercoaster. Of course, they hate each other, but they are willing to work together to make the best rollercoaster as she adores the park and he has a special attachment to that particular rollercoaster.
“While Fred and I meet at the front of the park with lazy smiles and travel mugs of coffee, Lorelei’s hands are free, and she’s running on nothing other than sheer sunshine. Or cocaine. I don’t know her life.”
you can expect: ✨small town ✨tight knit friendships ✨enemies-to-lovers ✨forced proximity ✨grumpy/sunshine ✨softie just for her
“Going soft on me, Mr. Dawson?” He pauses at my statement. “Maybe. I can’t help it if you’re the silver lining in my day.”
I personally loved the enemies-to-lovers part. It was good. Like I could genuinely feel the hate they had for each other, but also the attraction. I like that it took a while for them to have a change of heart.
“You’ve ruined other women for me,” he says. “You must know that.” Emory traces my jaw with his large hand, stroking down to my chin. “Don’t worry. No other man can compare.” “No, beautiful,” he mutters. “No other men will ever get the chance.”
Emory grew in the story and I loved watching him become a softie for her🥺🥺🥺 And I loved watching the not pushover part of Lore when she was with him. I think they are perfect for each other and his little obsession at the beginning with watching her every morning was kinda sweet. Also, THIS PART?!?! SIR???
“I’ve heard men say their women taste like candy. Or fruits. Or something else ridiculous. Why mask it with such flowery language? Lorelei tastes like pussy. And I fucking love it.”
I do have a complaint about the romance, though. And it’s just that I wished we had one more date or a breather before the conflict. Because it happened to fast and the jump from “yeah I adore you and I want to fuck you” to “i love you” was too quick and fast imo.
“Talk to me,” he says. “About what?” “Anything. I love your voice.”
I’m a sucker for small town romances, but unfortunately that’s where it fell a hit short for me. We don’t really see the town and I just didn’t quite got the ✨small town vibe✨ that I love. I wish Emory and Lore would’ve had their date in town. Her giving him a tour or something, cause I just didn’t felt there. I felt like on a holiday on a theme park you know?? Cause that part was good. And even though we had the friendship group of Lore, I still didn’t get the vibe of “everyone knows everyone and everything” 😭 hopefully I get that in the next books 🤞🏻🤞🏻
“I’m in love with the fact that he doesn’t wear his heart on his sleeve, and I love that he still stitched it there just for me.”
I am so excited to see the rest of the group get their love story. I can already see Quinn’s book being HOT and Ruby’s being ANGSTY. Theo’s might be a bit calm though? Like friends-to-lovers denial vibe. I’m here for it though!!!
“Lorelei doesn’t belong to me. It’s my heart that’s owned by her.”
p.s. him saying “this is not the conversation I imagined we would have at our prom” at the gazebo made me go 🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺 that whole scene made me tear up. Emory was just so fcking sweet, I—😭😭😭 I can totally see this book as a rom-com movie. Gimme it.
【SONGS:】 Vienna — Billy Joel You Are My Sunshine — The Death South Raining in June — Olivia Klugman
Lorelei Arden is everything. She’s the steady rise of a lift hill. She’s more exciting than the anticipation as you crest the top. She is the thrill of the downhill, the rush of anxiety through your chest, the harsh banked turn, the dip in the track, the grip from the brake run.
My fav Julie book c'mon now🐝
This is VERY much a feel good book and I'm living for it.
“At this point, I’d rather you just be gone.” “Ah, that’s the end goal, right?” “The earlier, the better.” “Good. We’re on the same page now.”
We got -Small town romance -Tight knit friend group -Enemies to lovers -Grumpy Sunshine
Plot: Lorelei works at an amusement part which is called the Honeywood fun park. She was injured on a ride TWICE which led to her having a weak hip for life. And that ride ladies and gentlemen was designed by none other than Mr. Emory Dawson. Lorelei sued Mr. Dawson's company and to this day they kinda haven't seen each other. Till one day they meet and voila they don't like each other *gasp* This of course will NOT last long because they kiss AND OH THEY KISS Now it's bad girl behaviour to be going around with a man who made you have a bad hip for life and someone who's company you sued. Dawson makes it his goal to see what actually happened that day that led to the ride failing The accident created a deep fear of rollercoasters in her. Which he got her over and oh he had some sweet ways to have her overcome this fear at the start 🤪
Then, she asks, “You don’t know who I am, do you?” What is this, some type of power move? I don’t even know what game we’re playing or how I’ve lost, but it unnerves me to feel that I have. “Should I?”
i like it when my men are slightly unsettled like that
moving his knee to rest between my thighs, rubbing against my core as I desperately grind myself against him. “There you go,” he murmurs, the heat warming my ear. “Use me, Lorelei.”
He fingers her on The Romping meadow which is a boat ride and also later *wink wink*
“You’ve ruined other women for me,” he says. “You must know that.” Emory traces my jaw with his large hand, stroking down to my chin. “Don’t worry. No other man can compare.” “No, beautiful,” he mutters. “No other men will ever get the chance.”
I also specifically love it when my men are obsessed And my man Emory was. Because of the hip thing with Lorelei it was hard for her to spread her legs open wide And man came through 🤪
I’ve heard men say their women taste like candy. Or fruits. Or something else ridiculous. Why mask it with such flowery language? Lorelei tastes like pussy. And I fucking love it.
King shit.
All in all Sweet Fuzzy Cute Loved it Cannot wait for the next one because i can feel the couple
4.5✨this was delightful! An incredibly well done contemporary romance with a unique concept, well developed characters and some great spice in there. Julie is such a talented author and I can’t wait to continue on in this series. The cozy small town vibes in here are great and I love the theme park element. It’s so fun! Totally recommend!!!!
I’m writing this review from the grave because Julie Olivia (and Emory) has killed me.
All Downhill With You is my favourite kind of bingeable romance; likeable characters with great growth and lots of steam! The town of Cedar Cliff and Honeywood Park where so well-developed that I was ready to book tickets to Georgia so I could visit. This book also perfectly sets up the series and I am absolutely desperate to read book number two!
I loved Lorelei’s perseverance, optimism, and strength. I loves how Emory opened up - it was like he blossomed once he recognized his feelings for Lorelei. I really liked the “attagirl” and “good girl” moments, the banter between the two characters was top notch, and the steam was excellent!
If you enjoy enemies-to-lovers, workplace romance, a bit of forbidden love, plus fun world development - All Downhill With You is for you!!
I won’t rate as I didn’t make it to the halfway point which is where I feel it’s appropriate to rate/review a DNF.
This just isn’t for me. The humor isn’t funny. The MMC is wooden and one dimensional. The FMC is only moderately more appealing. The friends all sound the same. And I’m just plain bored.
Plus, it’s implausible that a defendant and plaintiff would be paired together to assess/repair/replace a piece of equipment which permanently injured said plaintiff. No lawyer would allow that scenario to take place. I can only suspend disbelief but so much.
Ahhh! I loved everything in this book! When Julie announced this series, I knew it would be fun and adorable, but gosh, my imagination couldn’t reach this level of perfection 💛
Lorelei and Emory are enemies… BIG enemies. The reason for their animosity is really hard and justified, so it truly felt like a top enemies to lovers. Also, the grumpy-sunshineness was so so so good! There’s a particular dialogue in chapter 28 that made me screech “YES THIS IS GOOOOD”. And the steam… Emory Dawson knows what he’s doing. 🥵
The group of friends is adorable! A good family of friends is crucial for me if a series is going to be focused on them. I have my theories about the next couples… and let me say, I am excited for ALL OF THEM (and even if I’m wrong, I’m still dying to know more). I think this series is going to become a favorite for me. 🥹 Can I also move to Cedar Cliff? Because it sounds like a dream small town. 🥰
Steam level: 2.5/5
ARC kindly provided by the author, this is my honest opinion!
All kinds of adorable and just the low angst read I was in the mood for, this made for a great introduction to Olivia's work. The grumpalicious hero paired with a sunshiney heroine made for a fun dynamic, and the story deftly tackles heavier subjects while maintaining a light and easy feel. It's got small town romance vibes and enemies to lovers friction - plus a forbidden relationship. I loved that the storyline was so unique, and how these characters had to work out their differences before they could begin to heal themselves. It was sexy and swoony in equal measure, and peeling back the layers of this broken hero was so immensely satisfying. It reads quickly, works well as a series starter, and has me wanting to read more from Olivia. A solid 4/low 5-star read the whole way through, this easygoing grumpy/sunshine romance was a win.
The story follows Lorelei, a woman who loves roller coasters - even though one almost killed her. She's worked at a theme park for years, and continues to do so even after a mysterious equipment malfunction left her with severe injuries to her hip. Lorelei is in the middle of a lawsuit against the roller coaster's manufacturer, and she's hoping that will give her some answers about what happened. But when the coaster designer himself comes to consult at the park, it stirs up a lot of trouble. Emory is moody, rude, and assumes that Lorelei is just suing him for the money. The two dislike each other, and spending time together is a surefire way to complicate the lawsuit. But as Emory gets to know Lorelei better, he realizes how much the accident has impacted her life - and Lorelei realizes that Emory just might have a heart buried underneath his rough exterior after all.
I'm new to Olivia's work, so I had no idea what to expect going in, and I was very pleasantly surprised. It's a light and easy read in a lot of ways, but there's plenty of depth hidden beneath the surface. The storyline is also unlike any I've read before, which is always a major win for me. Sure, it plays up the tropes and I can tell that future love stories in this series of interconnected standalones will continue to do so, but it also felt fresh and different. The characters were lovable, the situations were understandable, and the friction made for some heat. It's actually a little steamy! I loved getting to know Emory better, and there are some swoony moments that really worked. He's the perfect kind of grump on the outside, with a marshmallow heart on the inside. Paired with the upbeat and resilient Lorelei, he was easy to love. I also appreciated how Lorelei's injury was handled, and how there was great representation of her aches and limitations - it's not glossed over. I'm definitely excited to read more from the series, though I do have concerns about a few of the potential couples (two hoes who are sleeping around while pining after each other, a hero who is emotionally cheating on his girlfriend, etc), but I love the overall cast of characters and the small town feel. It was really charming, and that pushes this from 4 to 5 stars for me.
* This was one of those books that you expect all sunshines and rainbows and then there’s super spicy scenes and you’re surprised it could even be that explicit. * The book cover looks so innocent and for the most part it is, it’s based in a theme park with a marketing x engineering workplace romance with a speck of enemies to lovers which was right up my street. * I loved how Lorelei faced adversity and had her physical abilities be something explored in the book and conquered. It was one of my favourite parts of the book seeing her fear being dispelled. * The book reminded me of The Fine Print, the two characters feels like remnants of them but I would say the styles are very different so if you’re looking for a book in the same vain it might be a shout. * Also, this is a shorter read, and for that I almost feel it was too high level for me. I really wished there was greater delving into some of the earlier plot lines I was excited to see pan out. The premise was soooo good, I mean the conflict of interest had me hooked but I didn’t get the chance to connect much with the characters. * I hope to give the future Honeywood books a try and this book had some very great positive points but I was holding out for a little more.
This book is definitely a case of a great idea but not so great execution. I loved so much about this book - the theme park setting, the small town vibes and the romance being between between two characters in an ongoing lawsuit.
However, I can’t overlook some things that just didn’t work for me. - This enemies to lovers thing does a COMPLETE 180 following a single kiss when Emory prior was a complete ass and then he’s the perfect man suddenly? That’s the one thing with this trope that for me can go wrong. I just couldn’t believe it. - The “I love you” moments in the end are very hallmark movie like and made everything start to feel extremely rushed. - Some of the writing was just not it for me 😅 (ex: “My entire being burns for Lorelei. It burns like the big dumpster fire that I am.” or “Bennett can’t help that Mr. Roller Coaster here should be more aptly named Mr. Butthole)
A couple more things I enjoyed, to end on a more positive note include; - the fact that nearly all the characters worked at the theme park together. I also loved just how much they loved the park - the way in which Lorelei’s injury was further explored when it came to its impact on her day to day life and how it affected her during sex
Despite my qualms, I am still interested in reading more of this series since there are some side characters I’d love to know more about. In particular I’m waiting for Bennett and Ruby’s story. And I would still recommend this to many romance readers.
PS if you’re wondering about the spice, I’d say… it’s maybe a tablespoon. 🤷♀️
Okay okay I get all the hype!! I've been hearing how great the Honeywood series is for a while now and when the first book finally came out on audio this week I immediately snapped it up. Let me tell you it did NOT disappoint!!
A super cute, opposites attract forbidden romance between two people on opposing sides of a lawsuit who are forced to work together to fix/design the roller coaster that was involved in a terrible accident.
Steamier than expected but still with a lot of heart and a super fun found family/friend group. This was an easy five star read for me with unexpected disability rep (chronic pain/hip injury/dysplasia caused from the workplace injury).
HIGHLY recommended and great on audio read by two new to me narrators, Lynn Barrington and Christian Leatherman. Now to figure out if I can wait patiently for the other books in the series to come out on audio or binge them all right away because I am so excited to see what happens to the other Honeywood characters!!
This was such an entertaining read! While there were a few moments that veered into slightly cringe territory for me, the rest of the book more than made up for it.
I was also not prepared for just how spicy this book would get. Emory, with his unexpectedly dirty mouth really kept things interesting in the best way 👀. The banter and chemistry between the characters felt fresh and engaging, making it easy to root for their romance.
If you’re looking for a book that will make you laugh, blush, and smile, this is definitely worth picking up!
I definitely struggled first half of the book with feeling it, especially the chemistry. But fortunately that got so much better later on and I'm glad I didn't dnf because I ended up really enjoying it and looking forward to other couples stories. Especially Ruby and Bennett.
I admit I only read one amusement park themed romance book but I think this one was executed much better.
• enemies to lovers • workplace romance • from different worlds • grumpy/sunshine • slow burn • open door steamy
i love it when the couple solve their problems together 👍🏼
😈OMG i'm so curious about ruby and bennett!!! i normally don't like friends to lovers especially if one of them have a spouse but i know their book will be soul crashing i NEED IT RN
I liked some parts, but not everything. I thought the book started off slow, things don't really pick up until the 30% mark between the mcs. And speaking of mcs, their development was a little off paced. We don't get to see them as a couple, because the conflict was already introduced right after they just got together. Which is a bummer because I really wanted to see them as a couple. The buildup was good, but kind of fell flat at the end. But other than that, I love reading how Emory went from being a grumpy asshole to a soft boy obsessed hero for Lorelei.
Give me the combination of romance and theme parks every day please. I loved it. Sure, it is quite predictable, but which romance book isn't. However, I loved the main characters and their bantering. Honeywood sounds like a sweet and fun small theme park, which reminds me of one at home.
-0,5 star for using 'Attagirl' tho. Sorry, can't handle that.
Sweet as honey, funny, and oh-so-sexy!! This story had me buzzing from beginning to end!
“Lorelei’s hands are free, and she’s running on nothing other than sheer sunshine. Or cocaine. I don’t know her life.”
“My face instantly catches fire. I don’t want to think of that man in bed. He’s probably boring and only does missionary and never reciprocates oral. If I had to guess.”
How could you not fall in love with two first impressions like that? 😂😂 These two had me smiling again and again.
And then throw in the fact that Emory also says things like—”Be a good girl and suck me off, beautiful.”
Gah! Swoon! And fans myself a little.
I cannot wait for the next in this series!!
Will it be the brother and the best friend; the two close friends so achingly meant for each other but completely and frustratingly clueless; or will it be the mysterious bar owner and the girl he can’t keep his eyes off of?! Ahhh.
[3.5 ★] Maybe I‘ll change the rating to 4★ but at the moment this sums up my feelings the best. Overall the plot is really enjoyable and goes by in a breeze. It was a feel good, cutesy story that can be read in one sitting. But something was missing, I feel like the story could‘ve been fleshed out a little more because the whole third act happened really fast and everything was solved sooo quickly. Another point is, that you can‘t think too much about the setting between Emory and Lorelei AND the fact that they have to work together, while in a lawsuit because that is quite unrealistic.
I really love the theme park scenery so I enjoyed this story very much. Also, it was great to see the characters finding each other and figuring out that they were in fact meant to be. Lorelei is a nice main female character and the way she deals with her trauma but still loves roller coasters felt very real. Also enjoyed Emory and his whole connection with the roller coasters and theme parks world.
This was delightful! A romance between two characters in an ongoing lawsuit set in an amusement park? I was all in. It had that classic “Hallmark-style” charm — predictable and at times a bit cheesy, but still undeniably cute. The chemistry between the characters was well-developed, and I especially enjoyed the dynamic between the main characters and the supporting cast. While I wasn’t a fan of the third-act breakup (though I saw it coming), the book still delivered what it promised. And, honestly, I was hoping for a steamy scene on a rollercoaster and I got exactly what I wanted, so I guess I can’t be mad about it!
