Austin’s attraction for Layla is bringing up painful memories of her past. Austin wants forever with Layla but Layla can’t seem to let go of her memories of the past. Layla is still focused on her current case with the Bureau regarding the missing young women. With the help of a Profiler by the name of Ellis; Layla and her partner Jill may have a lead in the case.
A mysterious note arrives to the Bureau for Layla and it has literally shaken her to her core. The note read “She wasn’t mine but you are”. Layla has no clue if the note is from the killer she is looking for or from her sire whom she never met after she was changed. With the threat of the missing women and the mysterious note arriving for Layla; Austin is more determine than ever to ensure that Layla and newly changed Faith remains safe.
The Plot thickens. One evening Austin returns to work only to find that the morgue has hired an assistant and to Austin’s surprise this new hire isn’t some random woman working the nightshift at the morgue; but a new vampire and Austin already has his suspicions as to why she is there and it all points to Faith (the vampire that was brought to Austin’s morgue in Book 1 whom he helped complete her transformation and has become her sire and protector)
It's up to Austin and Layla to come together and figure out this new piece of a moving puzzle and find the link between Austin’s new hire and the serial killer who’s out abducting young women. Is the Bureau looking for 1 suspect or 2 and how is it all connected to the newly turned vampires and the missing women?

Great addition to the series! In this one we get some answers but also new questions. The author does a great job pulling you in and kept me reading with all the twists and turns. I'm looking forward to the next book.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. All opinions in this review are my own and freely given.
The investigation of who killed young women goes on. Layla is having a different time too, she and Austin are very attracted to each other and both do not want that they make love with someone else. That means for Layla that the 'relationship' with her collegue and partner Jon is over. No lovemaking with somebody else anymore. Layla and Austin are both quickly jealous and it often ends in discussions and being angry. Layla wants also do do more in this murdercase, and can not give more time to Austin because she works more hours. Untill one day she receives a note from an unknown person and is surprised, and it scares her. I can't wait to read the next book to find out! I received an advanced review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntary.

This is unique story with a lot going on. Relationships develop more in these well developed character, monogamy time. It is full of suspense as they search for the killer and missing girls. There is more added to the series plot causing a great build in what will happen next. New characters join the supporting team of characters. You are on your seat from page one until then end. Now we must wait to see what happens next but I am sure it will be as exciting as this one.
Good and short, we get a little more insight into what it's like to be a new vampire. Layla and Austin need to figure themselves out. Can they find the killer? Who is it? We get a little 'cliffhanger' towards the end.
Keep reading, and hopefully ALL will be revealed to all of us... sooner than later :)
