Just like the title, I felt scrambled throughout the book. The sequel to Over Easy, was great in terms of character development, but you can tell the author is new to writing. There were so many grammatical errors that made it hard to follow at times, especially during dialogue between characters. Misspelling names, not making it clear when a conversation started or ended between characters, switching POV back and forth, and then adding a fantasy-type element to the plot. All this demonstrates what a great story teller is vs what a great author is- unfortunately, Bayard was neither in this particular piece of work. He undeniably can tell a story, I saw that in his debut, but in Scrambled, he missed the mark. I look forward to the third installment of the series and hope more care is involved when figuring out the direction he plans to take his character’s in, because despite this critical review, I genuinely care how the protagonist and secondary characters continue in the series.
I have to give him four stars. I know him. But seriously it’s an easy read. Interesting. And I know the psychedelic mushrooms are real because I know someone……
