Nash Carlton is a Bull of a man, A strong and silent protector, In an ocean of gliding monsters. Eli Green is a snake determined to strike, A man resolved to destroy Nash's SEAL unit, one shifter at a time.
But when the woman Nash desires Becomes Green's latest target, He has no choice but to unleash the animal inside.
I started out not sure when I read book one, but now I love this series. I enjoyed this book and the bit of humour infused along the way.
Deadly Predator is the fifth book in the series Masters of the Deep, and is a paranormal shifter D/s tale with a shark and a Navy SEAL who also happens to be a dominant. These men know what they want and expect their women to fall in line.
Nash and four other shark shifters were born to follow in their father's footsteps to protect the secret of the sunken USS Kracken. He is a dominant man in everything he does. He gives his life to protect the Kracken and their secret. He has longed for the pretty little doctor, she is his, she is the submissive he has always wanted, but didn't think he was worthy of her but he soon learns different and the sparks fly. Sydney has had enough of the evil that wants to do unspeakable things in the name of science. But when she learns she is the one that Eli wants, she tries to escape and everything unravels.
The chemistry is hot and melt the sheets; these men will stop at nothing to preserve their secrets and protect their women from the evil trying to control them.
Wow! Just Wow!! Delta James and Felicity Brandon have knocked it out of the park with 'Deadly Predator', the fifth book in their "Masters of the Deep" series. Throughout the entire series, Nash Carlton, the Bull shark, has always stood out amongst the others on their team, at least for me. I thought he was a loner that didn't really want anything more from the rest of the guys but the obligation of their mission. WAS I SO WRONG!! We are given a much deeper insight into him, his personality, and of course, Dr. Sidney. Their passion is off the charts! Their mission this time is so intense the pages literally felt like they were turning of their own volition as I was glued to the spot reading. What a great experience this one turned out to be.

I loved reading this stunning conclusion to the Masters of the Deep series. There are plenty of twists and turns as Sydney and Nash finally connect in a meaningful way. I loved the way that Green finally must face the consequences of his actions. There is plenty of hot chemistry, action and danger in this well written tale. This is my honest opinion.
I had to make it to the end of this series for no other reason than I had to finish it. If you are not willing to invest in reading the whole series, stop reading this review here and just move on because this story is the wrap up of a lot of different things from each preceding story. Sure, it coud be read as a stand alone book but I think the actions of the characters would be jarring and difficult to understand without context.
Nash is the last of the Navy SEAL shark shifters to connect his one true love. He has met her but he doesn't believe that she has any interest in him. Sydney works for the shifter project. She has always been drawn to Nash but she doesn't feel like they can be together while she's ties to the project.
I like that Nash is open to finding love even though he doesn't feel like he's a catch for any woman. I like that Nash loves his SEAL team and all of the women that they love. I like that Sydney is smart and capable. I like that Sydney sticks up for herself. It was nice seeing the whole team working together to bring the overarcing storyline to a close.
I don't know why the author chose to not explore Nash's history and hangups with more depth. There is a very surface mention that he is angry and intense because of his history. I felt like that would have been an interesting addition and the story still could have been kept on the shorter side. The author is really fixated on the men without clothes on and the women getting punishments. When those devices are used sparringly they can add to the overall story and even help the reader to better understand all of the characters but when it is the focus of the majority of the story it becomes tiresome and, dare I say, boring. That goes for the bad guy as well. In this story he finally reaches his pinnacle of badness. Simply stated, he's really bad. I guess I wanted there to be some texture to it all like he is a really bad guy but really a total chicken underneath.
So why did I give this 4 stars and not 3? Simple, I thought that it ended the series nicely. It also opened the door to a spin off series. This story had lots of issues, in my opinion, but I was glad to see the series through to the end. Will I read more from these authors, maybe. I have enjoyed other books by them together and separately so it's likely but it will depend on the book description.

Wonderful continuation to series, great characters and marvellous scenario you’ll love This is a simply wonderful read and I guarantee that like me you will not be able to put this book down once you begin reading as soon as you start this wonderful read it will draw you into the characters and the evil people of the naval base that are trying to use the shifters for devious and subversive reasons that have to be stopped.
Doctor Sydney Walsh has been working at the base for a number of years and he has been working very closely with each of shark shifters and now she has also got to know each of their recently acquired mates.
Since Admiral Warrenton died under mysterious circumstances and Eli Green has been splashing his money around in the project and now, she has seen that he is calling the shots, all of the bad and underhand he is a dirty lowlife that seems to have become obsessed with Dr. Walsh and is determined she will become part of the breeding program after he’s finished with her.
When Green makes his first move on Dr. Walsh, she was able to protect herself but then in the last meeting he makes it obvious that he is going to take the females of the four shark shifters and breed them even though at present this almost certainly means death as there are so many unresolved problems.
When she has to make a run for her life, she discovers that the one shifter she has feelings for Nash Carlton had been kidnapped and badly beaten and almost murdered, fortunately his team had rescued him. They were not surprised to discover Eli Green on the scene gloating over what he plans to do with his new line breeding stock of Shark Shifters.
it was a perverse and obscene plot and he knew they had to stop him by all working together to destroy the base and all of the plans and experiment data and notes that proved these shifters existed. I assure you that you will love every moment of this book it is simply a fantastic read. I voluntarily received and review an Advanced Reader Copy I thoroughly enjoyed the book and look forward to reading any future publications; keep up all the great writing.
I have been impatiently waiting for Nash and Sydney's story. Not only because he was the last of the military shark shifters to find a mate, but it is the last book in the series and I really wanted to know how the authors would include Nash's and Sydney's story and end the series in a way that resulted in a great big "happy ever after". Sydney, a geneticist and one of the lead researchers for the shark shifters, is deeply attracted to Nash, one of her shark shifters. Unbeknownst to her, Nash feels the same about her. While the two are attracted to each other, nothing happens until a plot for a breeding program to create more soldier shark shifters for a profit. Sydney who ethically cannot support this program escapes the underground shark city/research center when the civilian paying for this new breeding program sets his sights on Sydney and make it very clear what he will do with her. She has to find a way to shut down the secret program. When she escapes, the story starts to move fast as she gives into the the attraction between her and Nash and they then work with the other 4 couples to bring down the secret project and the civilian funding it. It was a a great story and kudos to the authors who were able to tell Nash and Sydney's story and wrap up the series so well.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this well-written, fast-paced shark shifter romance it and would absolutely recommend it to people who enjoy reading this genre. It is the fifth & final book in this series and can be read as a standalone but I would really recommend reading the series in order to understand the underlying storyline. The plot has good world building with well-described, detailed scenes that really kept me on the edge of my seat from beginning to end. The characters are well-developed with distinctive personalities that actually complement each other even though they are from different species (shark shifter/human). The secondary characters offer good support throughout the storyline. There is: a domineering male bull shark shifter (Captain Nash Carlton) is absolutely determined to protect his mate (a strong-willed female geneticist/researcher, Dr. Sydney Walsh) from a unscrupulous man (Eli Green) with nefarious plans in store for them, a secrets military base, navy shark shifting seals, humans, fated mates, friendship, comradery, adventure, action, twists & turns, drama, intrigue, suspense, devious contemplation, abduction, enemies, threats, danger, violence, conflict, discipline, spankings, domination/submission, steamy scenes & a wonderful satisfying epilogue with a happy conclusion.
Sydney is a geneticist and researcher stationed in a secure military base beneath the Sea of Cortez. She, along with a group of dedicated people and the five men who were capable of shifting into sharks, kept watch and protected the USS Kraken from intruders. Currently Sydney has discovered that someone is trying to pervert their program. That someone is Mr. Green and his disreputable cohorts. They are planning to accelerate the breeding program and to force unwilling women to take part. Sydney is determined to resign and escape before this immoral and illegal plan is forced into action.
Nash is an extremely strong alpha dominant who cares deeply for Sydney, but has never told her. Sydney is an intelligent, independent woman with submissive tendencies, who cares just as deeply for Nash. Will they eventually find a way to connect?
What really impresses me about this story is the way all five shark sifters and their devoted women are able to form a strong and powerful family dedicated to protecting the USS Kracken and her secrets. Will they be able to work together to fight the impending corruption and move forward with their lives?
I highly recommend this compelling story of five brave men and the women who help them accomplish their goals.
Sydney and Nash have cautiously been dancing around each other for a long time. She is a geneticist working on Il Jardin Secreto in the Sea of Cortez, where he and his shark shifter team of Navy SEALs patrol a submarine wreck nearly 100 years old. When the danger that has been skulking through the entire five book series threatens them both, Nash and his team will, with the help of their women, neutralize that threat.
Sydney is exactly what grouchy Nash needs. She is feisty, sassy, and her needs mesh precisely with his. He never thought he would find love, even with the woman he pined for. HEAs for each couple are guaranteed in the epilogue. This is a fantastically written series, with an overarching story line. You can read the books as stand alones for the individual couples' stories, but for the best experience, they are best read in order. I recommend this one for fans of either or both authors, shifter stories, or just well written paranormal romance.
I received an ARC of this book and am voluntarily leaving my honest review.
I must say that I haven’t read the rest of this series yet. I do like Delta James books and I could easily get what was going on but it definitely would have been better if I had read them in order. I had high hopes of reading the rest before I had to review this one but life got in the way. This book is co-written but still has all of the hallmarks of any Della James story masterful men, spunky intelligent women, peril, adventure and a fast fun plot. Her books have focused a lot on shifters lately and this one features shark shifters which I feel was the only problem I had with this book and that’s on me because although I have read many shifter romances I have never tried one with any kind of sharks. I think if I had read this series from the beginning I would have been able to get into it better. So my recommendation? We if you like this type of thing don’t do what I did. Read the series from book one and you will enjoy these lovely fun stories.

With the unconscionable Eli Green, it’s always about the money. His scheme? Create an army of shark shifters for profit. He’s already funded an underwater research base, now he just needs to set his illegal breeding program into motion. Geneticist Sydney Walsh is determined to shut the unethical program down but she’ll need help. Fortunately, Captain Nash Carlton, a shark shifter, comes to her aid, along with his shifter cohorts. Nash has long felt an attraction to Sydney and she also has feelings for him. It’s a wonderful love story, a riveting action-adventure tale and a perfect conclusion to Delta James’ Masters of the Deep series. You can read this as a standalone, but if you start with the first book of the series and work your way through, it’s enjoyable to catch up with characters from the previous books as they all work together to defeat the evil Eli Green.

This is the fifth and concluding story in a series about a group of alpha male shark shifters (who are also Navy Seals) and their feisty females. A few things went unanswered about the history of their top-secret, shark shifter government program, but the authors did a decent job of filling in enough details from the earlier stories that this one worked well as a standalone. All the couples seemed happy in their BDSM relationships. No vanilla relationships for these folks! The evil businessman calling the nefarious shots was an over-the-top bad guy whose plans for world conquest would have done a Bond villain proud. I'm not sure the heroine's quick turnaround from loyal employee to terrorist justice-seeker was completely believable, but I still enjoyed this fast-paced thriller, even without having read the preceding volumes.

I know these stories are stand alones but they should all be read in order to get the most enjoyment out of it. This story isn't just about Sydney and Nash, it's also the conclussion of all the things that have been happening since book one, and what a conclussion it was. I loved it! Sydney and Nash are complete opposites. Nash is grouchy, domineering, stuborn, and very protective. Sydney is bubbly, sassy, and outwardly overly cheerful. Together they create the perfect balance.
Both Ms. Brandon and Ms. James are fantastic authors in their own right and together their talent shines through. You can't tell where one author's writing transitions into the others, which is something that normally bothers me in cowrites. I loved the original idea of having shark shifters and the fact that their female characters were smart, capable women who flourished under protective men who love them. I recommend this series to any PNR lover.
I wasn't so sure about shark shifters in the beginning but it turned out to be a fantastic series these two authors have written. I can't believe that this is the conclusion story to the series. I loved this group of Navy Seals who are also alpha male shark shifters. Each one has met their match with a feisty female and now have started new lives in the epiloge. With some hot steamy scenes included for each of these folks! I enjoyed this fast-paced thriller, giving us a little look at their top-secret, shark shifter government program and the evil businessman who has plans for breeding an elite shifter shark army. Our heroine's quick thinking to end this program seeking justice for the guys involved and the murders that were committed. The ending did a good job of filling in some details from the earlier stories that helped us figure out why the guys were guarding the Kraken. I throughly enjoyed this series
Dr Sydney Walsh, a brilliant research scientist, signed up to do research at the El Jardin Secreto which is a secret military undersea base. She was part of the Guardian Project which was established to ensure the advancement of mankind. Nash Carlton and his four shark shifter friends are Navy Seals assigned to guard the sunken ship The Kraken which was part of a cover up involving the attack on Pear Harbour. Sydney and Nash have been secretly attracted to each other for a while but have never acted on their interest. Sydney’s altruistic ideals are cut short when she realizes the the Guardian Project is a sinister scheme funded by a business man with a nefarious intent. Sydney goes to Nash for help and his four fellow shifter and their women all get involved. The plot deepens as the secrets are revealed and provides an exciting ride of suspense, hot romance and a HEA for everyone.
Nash finally gets his lady love Sydney. Whip smart, she has figured out that the brass and Green are up to no good. Now to right the wrong she had a hand in, without having Nash applying his hand to her backside as she strives to foil the demented Green and weak Admiral. The final book in the series, it quite nicely brings closure to the sharks' tour with the project. The villains are crushed, some totally obliterated, and the good guys take the final win. Steamy AF with dirty talk and deeds and more spanking than a grown woman should tolerate. So maddening, that last. The epilogue confused me a bit as there were flashbacks intertwined with the present day and sometimes the transition between the periods was not clear. Another great story overall, though.
Shark shifters would have never crossed my mind prior to this series. I think I had a wait and see attitude and found myself to be pleasantly surprised.
What a conclusion to the series! There is a continuing storyline woven through each of the books. I think they are more enjoyable read in order, but I also think if you don't start with book 1, you won't have a problem following the story.
My recommendation is to not start with this one. Read at least one other book in the series before you read this book.
Nash and Sydney's story is fast paced, full of action, danger, and suspense. All of the couples are well suited. Nash and Sydney being no exception. I liked the way the ladies gathered Sydney into their group.
The sharks were all coupled up. The bad guys were handled. The secrets were dealt with expeditiously. There was an unexpected surprise or two. A book with a number of steamy moments, and the HEA for all couples involved. I also really appreciated the epilogue!
I voluntarily read and reviewed the Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
This is the 5th and final book in the Masters of the Deep series. This is Dr. Sydney Walsh and Captain Nash Carlton Nash’s story. Sydney is the woman he loves and is a researcher and geneticist. We now find out both in the crosshairs of Eli Green who obsessed with Sydney, and will do anything to have her, even going so far as destroying their top secret project. And now the SEAL unit is in danger of being destroyed! Can Nash protect Sydney? With the danger coming from Eli Green, will they all survive? Delta has also added bonus epilogues that really made everything tie up beautifully! What a way to end this series!.

Deadly Predator by Felicity Brandon and Delta James is the story of Nash and Sydney. Sydney is part of an elite program that works with shifter sharks, attempting to see if their abilities can be duplicated and used to better the world. Nash is a bull shark shifter and he has a thing for her. But, there are outside forces attempting to demonize the program to become something it was never intended to be…
Super story!! Really liked Nash!!! He was a little quick to anger….but, got it under control. Sydney was strong, resilient…but, did her own thing…often to her detriment. Enjoyable read! Loved the short epilogues of all of the five couples in the series!
I am volunteering to leave a review for an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
I’ve been writing reviews of the stories written by Felicity Brandon and Delta James for a while now. I often feel like I’m being redundant in these reviews because I always enjoy reading these two authors. I highly recommend their books to those who enjoy dark romance.
This is the story of Nash and Sydney, and it is the last book in this series of engaging and unique stand alone books. This book was excellently written, and it was also quite exciting. I enjoyed every page. The characters were believable, the pace of the book was just perfect, and the world building was expertly done.
I highly recommend these authors, both separately and in a duo. If you like to visit the dark side of romance, look for books by these writers. I’ve never been disappointed.
Stunning conclusion to the series featuring shark shifters whose family members were on secret mission at the start of World War II. Not to give away anything on the story, Sydney was brilliant scientist who realized the work she was doing at a secret base servicing these unknown shifters were to make these shifters a weapon, with an evil man behind a breeding program to make more and better underwater soldiers...Nash was the captain in charge of the unit of SEAL shifters and knew they had to stop the program...but you will need to read this story of intrigue with twists and turns along with the steamy love story of Sydney and Nash...I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
All wrapped up. This is the final instalment in ‘Masters of the Deep’ series. Though we centred on Nash and his fantasy Sydney, matters happened very quickly for them. As per usual, sex was 0f the charts. Both Delta & Felicity never failed in this department. Their nemesis Green was never far, sadistic with an alter ego to boot. Basically, the whole series was wrapped up here. We got answers to questions that were presented in prior storyline’s. The Kraken held secrets which needed to be obliterated, not only for the nation but for all 5 Shark Shifters. Epilogue was definitely required. Where to from here? Will there be more collaborated work by Delta & Felicity, time will tell, butI do hope so.
I have been anxiously waiting for this book. I know it's the end of this series and Delta James and Felicity Brandon wrapped this up in a nice, neat package. I loved Nash and have been waiting for him to find his fated mate since the series began. Sydney is a no holds barred woman who can take care of herself but wants Nash to take care of her!! The story is so good and yes...............I finally get to see what Eli Green has coming for him!!! I loved everything about this whole series!! The two authors need to figure out another series to write together because they are that good!!! Loved, loved, loved it!!
What a wonderful conclusion to the Masters of the Deep series by Felicity Brandon and Delta James. I absolutely loved Deadly Predator, it had an enthralling storyline and amazing characters. I happy to see Nash fall in love with Sydney and finally get their great love story. They both were attracted to each other for awhile but didn’t do anything about it until she was in danger and he saved her from the evil clutches of Mr. Green. I was sad that this was the last book but I loved that the epilogue tied up the whole series. It told us about each couples happily ever after and gave me such a huge smile on my face.
I have loved this series from the beginning. I was so thrilled to see Nash finally get his mate. I couldn’t put the story down and couldn’t wait to see what happened next.
Sydney is a scientist who works at a secret base. She knows something isn’t right but she didn’t really it had gotten that bad. Nash is the last single shark shifter in his group. He wants Sydney but doesn’t think she can handle his dark desires. When her life becomes in danger, he will stop at nothing to keep her safe. Will they finally have their chance at love?
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
What an epic conclusion to this series! Not only do Nash and Sydney finally act on their feelings for each other but there is so much action regarding the sharks and the kraken as well! This book picks up pretty much where the last one ended and the drama between the sharks and Green continues till the end of the story. I really enjoyed how Nash and Sydney’s relationship developed along side the plan to take down Green that had been in the works in past books. They really were a perfect fit. I swear each book got better and better. I’m glad that all the sharks got their HEA in their relationship and in their day to day lives by the end of this story. 10/10 recommend this series!
Finally it is Nash’s turn to find his hea & Dr Sydney Walsh has caught his attention. The problem with that, she has also caught the attention of Eli Green, the financial backer for the Guardian Project. He is determined to end the shark shifter team & take Dr. Walsh as his own personal breeder. Can the team figure out a way to keep the women safe & find their freedom at the same time? Finishing Eli Green may well be the answer to most of their problems. Check out this Shark Shifter series today, if you enjoy BDSM Dom/sub, incredibly sexy steamy storylines! Probably NSFW!
This is a paranormal romance, that is the fifth book in the Masters of the Deep series. Nash finally gets his story and Sydney the woman he loves who is a researcher and geneticist. The seal unit is in danger of being destroyed by a deadly enemy who is also obsessed with Sydney. I love how Nash is strong, dominant and fiercely protective of Sydney. There is lots of steamy scenes, suspense and action and mixed in with the danger of a diabolical enemy in Eli Green. All the bonus epilogues really made a fabulous ending for this series. I received an ARC for a honest review.
Delta James's latest story in the Masters of the Deep series concentrates on Nash. We have all the baddies from previous books including Eli Green, who has targeted Nash's fated mate. No way is Nash going to just sit back and let Eli weave his wicked web. This author writes some amazing stories with an excess of hot love and devotion, stubborn and sassy women, high adventure, wicked enemies and very high intrigue. Her books are highly addictive and once I finish one - I have to wait for the next. Highly recommended
Nash is the last of the unit to find the love of his life but he was certainly worth the wait! This fast paced story may feature the naughty couple Nash and Sydney but brings together all the men and their women of Guardian Project. Nash is deliciously dominant with the perfect soft spot for the genius scientist Sydney. Eli Green simply made my skin crawl and I loved how the authors made sure he was adequately dealt with. The entire series is exceptional and I hope Delta and Felicity will consider working together again.
