Creative Healing: How God Helped Me Heal My Trauma with the Gift of Creativity

Rate this book
Creative Healing is a book about using the gift of creativity to overcome adversity and struggle. It may be physical, mental, emotional, or spiritual. You can heal by being creative. This is a story of a woman who navigated through mental illness and addiction with her creative outlets and how she learned to redirect her mind. It is about seeing life through a child's eyes, once again, with wonder and amazement. It is also about being authentically YOUnique, believing in yourself, having variety in your life, using your imagination, making your dreams come true, being grateful, and having a spiritual connection with God. There are many ways to perceive this book. It was written in the hopes that you will find healing by tapping into your creative side. Everyone is creative in their own ways. It does not have to be art, writing, or music. It could be cooking a delicious meal a new way, fixing a car, a science experiment, or any other subject YOU like to do. It is all a matter of preference. There are some exercises. They may seem silly, but the creative side of us is an inner child. Let the child play!

I don’t even know where to begin because Creative Healing touched me in ways I didn’t expect. I picked up this book thinking it would be another motivational read, but Tina Melton offers something much deeper she offers her soul. Reading about her journey through mental illness and addiction was raw and real, but instead of feeling heavy, her words were full of hope and light. She showed me that creativity isn’t just a hobby it’s a lifeline, a way to reconnect with ourselves and with God.

What stood out to me most was her message of embracing your YOUnique self. For years, I’ve compared myself to others, downplaying my creativity because I thought it wasn’t “good enough.” Tina’s story reminded me that creativity isn’t about perfection, it’s about expression. Whether it’s painting, cooking, journaling, or simply daydreaming, all of it matters. After finishing this book, I actually dusted off my sketchpad for the first time in 10 years, and it felt so freeing.

This isn’t just a book it’s an experience. It reminded me to see life with childlike wonder again, to play without guilt, and to let gratitude guide my days. Creative Healing is one of the rare books that will stay with me for a very long time, and I cannot thank Tina enough for sharing her truth so boldly and beautifully.

Reading Creative Healing was like sitting down with a trusted friend who isn’t afraid to share her scars but also shows you the beauty that can come from them. Tina’s honesty about her battles with mental illness and addiction touched me deeply I could feel the rawness of her pain, but also the strength in her healing journey. What makes this book so powerful is how she takes something many of us overlook creativity and reframes it as a genuine tool for survival, joy, and spiritual connection. It reminded me that healing doesn’t always come from grand gestures, but often from small, intentional acts of play, curiosity, and expression.

As I read, I found myself reflecting on the little ways I had shut down my creative side over the years. Tina’s words gave me permission to start again, whether through cooking, journaling, or simply daydreaming without guilt. Her exercises may seem simple on the surface, but they unlocked parts of me I had long buried.

This isn’t just a self-help book it’s a testimony of resilience, faith, and the beauty of embracing your YOUnique self. It left me hopeful, lighter, and motivated to approach life with childlike wonder again. Thank you, Tina, for writing something so honest and healing. This book is a true gift to the world.

Tina Melton’s Creative Healing is one of the most authentic and refreshing books I’ve read in years. Too many self-help books focus on quick fixes, but this one digs into the heart of what it means to truly heal. I loved how she wove her personal story with practical exercises, making it both relatable and actionable. Her willingness to share her battles with mental illness and addiction made me admire her courage and also made me feel less alone in my own struggles.

The most powerful part of this book for me was her emphasis on childlike wonder. I realized while reading that I had lost that sense of awe in my life, and Tina’s words inspired me to look for joy in small, everyday things again. I started walking in the park near my home and noticed flowers I had passed hundreds of times before without paying attention. That shift, simple as it seems, has changed my perspective.

This book is not just about creativity it’s about learning to live again, to breathe again, to find joy in the act of being. I would recommend it to anyone, whether they see themselves as creative or not, because we all have that spark inside us waiting to be reignited.

What struck me about Creative Healing was Tina’s honesty. She didn’t try to gloss over her struggles or pretend that healing is easy. Instead, she told the truth the messy, painful truth but always with a message of hope. Her story made me cry, but it also made me smile, because every page is infused with the belief that beauty can come from ashes.

The exercises at first seemed a little lighthearted, even silly, but that’s what makes them powerful. I realized how serious and “adult” I had become, and how little I allowed myself to play. When Tina encouraged readers to let the inner child come out, it hit me hard. I tried one of the simple exercises and felt an emotional release I wasn’t expecting.

This book is more than just a memoir or a guide it’s a journey you take alongside Tina. And by the time you close the last page, you don’t just feel inspired you feel changed. I know I do.

I read Creative Healing in just two sittings because I couldn’t put it down. Tina’s writing is so inviting it feels like she’s sitting across from you, sharing her heart over a cup of coffee. I loved how approachable she made the idea of creativity. Too often, people think they aren’t creative if they can’t paint or write poetry. But Tina shows us that creativity is everywhere in cooking, in fixing things, in simply reimagining daily routines.

What I appreciated most was her blending of spirituality with creativity. She reminded me that creativity is a gift from God, something we are all born with, and using it is a way to reconnect not just with ourselves but with Him. That perspective was healing in itself for me.

This book doesn’t just tell you to heal it gently shows you how, with encouragement, honesty, and genuine love for her readers. I came away feeling uplifted and empowered, and I know I’ll be returning to it again and again.

I wasn’t sure what to expect when I picked up Creative Healing, but what I found was life-changing. Tina’s story is raw and brave she opens up about her darkest struggles and shows how she found her way through creativity. That kind of vulnerability is rare, and it made the book incredibly powerful.

The part that resonated most with me was her reminder to be YOUnique. I have spent so much of my life comparing myself to others, feeling inadequate, and believing my creativity didn’t matter. Tina’s words helped me see myself differently. For the first time, I feel like my voice and my creativity have value, even if no one else sees them.

By the end of this book, I felt a renewed sense of gratitude for the little things in life. It gave me hope and reminded me that healing doesn’t always come in one big moment it can come in small, joyful acts of creativity. This book is a treasure.

This book felt like a warm embrace after years of carrying heavy burdens. Tina Melton writes with such sincerity that I found myself nodding, crying, and even laughing in parts. Creative Healing reminded me that healing doesn’t have to look like sitting in a therapist’s chair or following a strict routine it can be found in moments of joy, in allowing ourselves to play, and in rediscovering the creativity we often bury as adults.

I tried one of the small exercises Tina suggested, and though it seemed silly at first, it unlocked something inside of me that I hadn’t touched in years my inner child. That moment was both freeing and healing. This book reminded me that God gave us creativity not just for art or beauty, but for survival, joy, and connection.

If I could give this book more than five stars, I would. Creative Healing is unlike anything I’ve ever read. It’s not just a memoir and it’s not just a guide it’s a spiritual journey. Tina’s words are filled with authenticity, wisdom, and an almost childlike wonder that made me stop and reflect on my own life.

The part that stood out most to me was when she wrote about seeing life through a child’s eyes again. I’ve spent years being weighed down by responsibility, and somewhere along the way I forgot how to marvel at the simple things. Since reading this book, I’ve started watching sunsets again, taking walks, and even doodling like I used to in school. It’s been healing in ways I can’t explain.

Reading Creative Healing felt like sitting with a wise and compassionate friend who understands the heaviness of life but refuses to let you drown in it. Tina’s journey through mental illness and addiction was so raw, but what moved me most was the way she turned pain into art, brokenness into beauty, and despair into hope. This book reminded me that creativity is not limited to painting or writing it can be anything that brings joy and expression to our hearts. After finishing the book, I actually started journaling again, something I had abandoned for years. It felt like reconnecting with a lost piece of myself. Thank you, Tina, for reminding me that healing doesn’t always have to be hard; sometimes it can be playful, colorful, and full of wonder.

I didn’t expect this book to touch me so deeply. As someone who has silently battled anxiety and self-doubt, I saw myself reflected in Tina’s words. What struck me most was her honesty she doesn’t shy away from the darkness, but she also doesn’t let it define her. Instead, she shows us how creativity, in its many forms, can be the light that guides us through. The exercises in the book felt gentle yet powerful, encouraging me to reconnect with the childlike part of myself that still wants to laugh, dream, and play. I have already tried two of the activities Tina suggested, and I felt a surprising sense of peace afterward. Creative Healing is more than just a book it’s an invitation to live authentically and to believe in your own YOU nique spark. Truly life-changing.

Tina Melton’s story resonated with me in ways I didn’t expect. I’ve read plenty of self-help books that tell you to ‘be positive’ or ‘change your mindset,’ but this book felt different it felt real. Tina shares her battles with mental illness and addiction in such a vulnerable way that you can’t help but root for her. What really inspired me was how she rediscovered life through creativity whether it was simple acts of imagination, reconnecting with her inner child, or finding joy in everyday things. I found myself nodding, tearing up, and reflecting on my own life. I even started cooking more intentionally, treating it as a creative outlet rather than just a task. It’s amazing how something so simple can become healing. This book will stay with me for a long time.

This book came to me at the right time. I’ve been going through a very difficult season, and reading Tina’s words felt like God whispering, ‘You are not alone, and there is still beauty left for you to create.’ Her story of overcoming addiction and embracing creativity as a path to healing touched me deeply. I loved the idea of reconnecting with childlike wonder something I had long forgotten. After reading, I sat outside and just allowed myself to watch the clouds drift by. It sounds simple, but it brought me more peace than I’ve felt in months. Creative Healing reminded me that we don’t have to be artists to be creative our creativity can show up in cooking, gardening, or simply in the way we live our lives. This book gave me hope again.

I don’t normally write reviews, but this book deserves one. Tina has such a gift for weaving together vulnerability, wisdom, and encouragement. I appreciated how she was open about her struggles but never left the reader feeling hopeless. Instead, she paints a picture of healing that feels attainable for everyone. I especially loved the parts where she talks about being YOUnique and embracing who God made you to be. That section made me pause and reflect on how often I hide parts of myself to fit in. After finishing this book, I feel more empowered to embrace my quirks and dreams. I’m even thinking about dusting off my guitar, which I haven’t touched in years, and just letting myself play for the joy of it. This book is truly a treasure.

What an incredible, heartfelt book. Tina’s journey is one of courage, resilience, and faith, and it inspired me in ways I can hardly describe. I loved how she redefines creativity it’s not just about making art, but about approaching life itself with imagination and openness. The book gave me permission to see healing not as something scary or clinical, but as something playful and deeply personal. I especially loved the exercises, which seemed simple on the surface but had a profound effect on my mindset. One exercise encouraged me to try something new, so I experimented with a new recipe, and it filled me with a sense of accomplishment I hadn’t felt in a while. Tina’s words reminded me that little things matter and that healing can be found in everyday acts of creation.

I cannot express enough how much this book has touched me. Tina’s story of overcoming mental illness and addiction was deeply moving, and her ability to channel pain into creativity is inspiring beyond words. What I loved most is that she shows creativity is for everyone not just for ‘artists.’ Whether it’s cooking, gardening, or even fixing a car, there are countless ways to express ourselves and heal. That idea alone lifted such a weight off my shoulders. I’ve always thought I wasn’t creative because I can’t draw or paint, but this book showed me that creativity is already a part of my daily life. That realization has been healing in itself. Thank you, Tina, for writing something so brave and beautiful.

I’ve read countless books on healing, but none felt as personal as Creative Healing. Tina doesn’t speak at you she speaks with you. Her story of battling mental illness and addiction is raw and brave, and the way she used creativity as her lifeline gave me hope for my own struggles.

What really hit me was her emphasis on gratitude. I realized how often I overlook small blessings because I’m chasing big breakthroughs. Tina reminded me that healing can happen in the quiet moments while cooking, journaling, or simply sitting in nature. This book gave me permission to slow down, to notice, and to believe that healing is possible for me too.

Tina Melton’s honesty is what makes this book shine. She doesn’t sugarcoat her past she shares the darkness of addiction and the pain of mental illness. But she also shows us how creativity became her rope to climb out of that pit. That balance of vulnerability and hope made the book incredibly moving.

I finished the last page with tears in my eyes because I felt seen. For years, I’ve struggled with anxiety, and I always thought creativity was a distraction from “real life.” Tina turned that belief upside down. Now I see creativity as medicine for the soul, and I’m learning to embrace it unapologetically.

I rarely write reviews, but this book deserves one. Creative Healing is more than a story it’s a call to action. Tina reminds us that we don’t need to wait for permission to create or to heal. The exercises were simple yet surprisingly effective, and they showed me how important it is to nurture the playful, curious part of myself that I’ve long ignored.

I especially appreciated her message about being YOUnique. As someone who’s always tried to fit in, her words gave me the courage to embrace my quirks instead of hiding them. This book is a gift to anyone who’s ever felt broken, lost, or afraid to shine.
