Bluey is a 6 year old Blue Heeler pup who loves to play. Her parents and teacher give her lots of time to practice, which means she’s become very good at inventing games, helping everyone choose their roles and deciding on the rules. Her favourite games are ones that involve lots of other kids and grown-ups (especially her dad) and she mainly likes to pretend she’s a grown up doing grownup things herself.

Bluey is an Australian children's television program by the Emmy award-winning Ludo Studio for ABC KIDS and is co-commissioned by ABC Children's and BBC Studios.

You know how cartoon food sometimes looks even tastier than real food? Think about the food in Miyazaki's movies. That's how I felt when I saw the Pavlova in the show. Anyway, this book is a cookbook for foods from Bluey. Some are fairly difficult to make. Some expect ingredients you can only buy in Australia. The book is peppered with inside references to the show, which is a little bit funny in the same way people quoting Monty Python is a little bit funny-- funny by proxy, I guess. We checked this out with a half dozen other Bluey books last time we went to the library. I enjoyed making the food together, just as something different-- don't tell Ellen, but I am kind of tired of two-person freeze tag.
We made fish and chips, Pavlova, some kind of salad with a lot of colored peppers in it, shish kabobs, and a couple of others. They expect you to start with a purchased "pavlova base" which doesn't exist in Maryland, so I tried to create my own by whipping up and baking a meringue. The whole thing had enough sugar in it that there was no way it could really fail, and I didn't know what the texture was supposed to be anyway, because I'd never had one before. Apparently they are quite popular in Australia and New Zealand.
Which reminds me that Bluey lives in Brisbane, Australia. (They frequently go to actual landmarks in Brisbane.) It's not quite our Brisbane, but an alternate universe because they are, of course, intelligent breeds of dogs. We know from the evolution episode that in their world, talking dogs evolved from monkeys. We know from the short titled "Archaeology" (though I would argue it is paleontology) that talking dogs evolved from quadrupedal dogs. So one is forced to conclude that evolution went something like monkeys-> baboon homomorphs (as primarily quadrepedal primates) -> wolf homomorphs -> dogs -> upright talking dogs in their universe. But they still retain some dog characteristics, especially as puppies up to about 3-years-old: running around on all fours, biting, chew collars, going without clothing, some canine ailments, chewing on bones.

I'm rather bemused that this exists and even more bemused that I now own a copy (grandparents, eh?). It has some nice easy recipes (fairy bread) and is capped off by the duck cake which has always given me anxiety - now the anxiety is even worse, because the pictures aren't very helpful! Lol. The rest of the illustrations are quite charming and it is an amusing little cookbook. But if you're making duck cake, might want to check out a recipe online with better pictures.

The toddler loves this book. I sense duck cake in my future. Hello darkness my old friend.

I might be biased because I love Bluey, but this little cookbook is wonderful. The recipes are easy to follow and great for parents and kids to make together, and the playful design captures the charm of the show. A cute keepsake for any Bluey fan.

This is very charming and will appeal to fans of the TV show. The book includes cute pictures of the characters along with recipes from the show, but parents should know that there aren't pictures of the actual finished products, and that the book often combines steps with the assumption that the grown-up helping the child is already proficient in the kitchen and knows what to do.

Perfect for the Bluey fan with fun throwbacks to episode, this cookbook is super cute. Honestly, the recipes are ones mentioned throughout episodes. The illustrations are scenes from episodes. That is what almost makes me it more engaging than the foods itself.

Literally one of the CUTEST kids cookbooks I've ever seen. What's so cool about this one is that the pages are laminated so you can dry erase check mark off the steps as you go along. Amazing - give me 10 of them right now

I am not a chef. I am basically hopeless. This cookbook understands that and allows me the opportunity to at least try.

Kids love Bluey, so they'll love the book. It's a fabulous idea, but the recipes can get pretty advanced for the intended audience. I can see children getting frustrated with it for that reason.
