Levi and Shelby meet over a year ago, sharing a kiss that startled them both, particularly Shelby. When Shelby returns to Hope Falls, she's wounded both emotionally and physically, wounds only Levi seems to be able to see, his determined to be there for her. I liked seeing Shelby reclaim who she was but there was a strand of emotion and depth lacking, a stand if it had existing would have made this a fab read.

I have to say that the fact that Levi knew how he felt about Shelby, and due to his sexual frustration was

Overall, this made for a nice one time read, although there was a strand of emotional intensity that was needed but didn't manifest, and therefore that reason the book didn't engage me as other books in the series have.

What I like about the books in this series, is that they can be comfortably be read out of order and as standalones.

This is the 8th book in the Hope Falls series but can be read as a standalone.

Levi and Shelby meet over a year ago. Since that time, Levi hasn't forgetting Shelby and the steamy kiss he shared with her. Unfortunately, she wasn't ready for what the kiss held and ran.

Levi was hoping to take that kiss further but doesn't hold it against Shelby that she ran that night. Levi is a stand-up gu and has stepped in and help his mom with his little brothers. He's built a stable home for them and has continued to be a caregiver to his friends and family.

Shelby is a smart and stubborn woman who gets involved with Kevin. In the short time that they have been together, he's become a controlling abusive boyfriend. Shelby's able to break free and runs to Hope Falls, to her brother and also into the arms of Levi.

I liked the friendship that the two characters formed. They didn't jump into a relationship. Levi took his time and was able to gain Shelby's trust before they become lovers. They worked well as a team no matter what they were doing.

This isn't a cliffhanger but it does set up the next book perfectly. I definitely looking forward to reading it.

"Perfect Kiss" is written by Melanie Shawn, and it is the 9th book in the Hope Falls series. It can be read as a stand-alone book. It features Levi Dorsey and Shelby Kellan.

Circumstances has brought Shelby Kellan to the town of Hope Falls. She needs a fresh start -- a chance to recover. Over a year and a half ago, she had the perfect kiss with bar owner Levi Dorsey at a wedding. It was a kiss neither would forget. But so much time has passed, and Shelby is not as confident as she once was. She's vulnerable and cautious. What happens when Levi and her see each other from across the room?

That spark is still there. But Levi quickly realizes something is different about Shelby. When he hears she needs a job, he offers it to her. Shelby starts to feel safe, and she starts to open up. Levi wants to protect her, and the more they are around each other, the more they become inseparable. They grow to love each other. But what happens when Shelby's past comes back to haunt her?

I've always been a fan of Melanie Shawn's books, and "Perfect Kiss" was no different. It's just a beautifully told story! It's heartwarming, romantic, and suspenseful! You will love the main characters as well as the secondary characters! "Perfect Kiss" is a must read!

This seemed like an okay enough book in the beginning but I quickly got tired of it. I appreciate that it's a romance book, but it was just too silly. I especially got tired of hearing Shelby's descriptions of drooling over Levi.

"She just stood there. Her eyes filled with tears and her mouth filled with drool."

And that was like the second or third time the author had mentioned her drooling. Do people actually do that in real life? Cause I just found it, and other things, plain annoying.

I loved this book so much!! It's a really sweet story about Levi & Shelby, who shared a kiss at a wedding eighteen months before. Who never stopped thinking about each other. It isn't a happy reason that brings them back together, but it was written beautifully. Can't wait for the next book in this series. Melanie Shawn is an amazing dynamic writing duo and I absolutely love them!

First off I love going back to Hope Falls too see what everyone is up to. Levi and Shelby had an undeniable connection. He knew that something was up after he saw after a year and half later. He took it took slow and started off as friends. Shelby got to feel like her old self and let Levi in. In the end everything turned out to be perfect! 💛

Perfect Kiss was a nice read. Levi is so sweet and just perfect for Shelby. Another great read by Melanie Shawn.

Levi first met Shelby at a friends wedding over a year ago. They danced the night away and shared one amazing kiss, but then she ran and he has not seen or heard from her since. He hasn't been able to stop thinking about her though. He knows that is a little crazy since it was just one kiss, but it was the perfect kiss.

Shelby got scared when she shared the perfect kiss with Levi and ran away from what they had. She has now just gotten out of an abusive relationship and is pretty broken. She doesn't even recognize herself anymore and is angry with herself for staying with her ex for so long. She comes to Hope Falls to help her sister take care of her new babies, and to try and find herself again.

When Shelby ends up working with Levi at his bar there is obviously still something there. She is still afraid of the connection, and Levi knows there is something that has changed about Shelby in these past months since he saw her. She is not her carefree, fun self anymore. No matter how much he wants to be with her, no matter how hard it is to not try to start something between them again, Levi is determined to giver her time and space to heal. He knows she is not ready for a relationship and he was such a sweetheart! I loved him so much. Shelby thinks at times that she might just want to hook up with him, but he doesn't let her do something she would later regret. He wants more than a one night stand. He was amazing and only looking out for her wellbeing. He was a great friend to Shelby and was just there for her so she can find herself again.

By the time you get to the happily ever after it was just perfect. I loved Levi and his patience paid off. Shelby was able to grow and change and find just what she was looking for. A great read. A sweet read. I also loved how the abusive ex situation was handled. Not what I was expecting which was nice. Overall just a great read.

I'm a big fan of Melanie Shawn and of the Hope Falls series. I've not once been disappointed in any of the book sin the series and this one is no exception...it was fantastic!

Levi Dorsey owns the one and only bar in Hope Falls and while he's always been known as a guy to loves to hook up, but has no plans to settle down, he can't get the one woman he spent time with at his friend's wedding almost a year and a half earlier, off his mind. When said woman shows up in town, he's excited, but he senses immediately that something is off with her.

When Shelby Kellan came back to Hope Falls, using the cover story she wanted to meet her brother and sister-in-law's newborn twins, she was simply trying to find herself. Or find the spunky woman she used to be before everything had fallen apart around her. The one person who seemed to realize that she wasn't the same woman who had last been in Hope Falls is the person she's going to try to avoid because she knows that having a man in her life at that point is the last thing she needs.

Levi knows that Shelby is looking for work, so he offers her a bartending job that had just been vacated. She accepts and settles in to her new job and also realizes that Levi has another project he's starting, working on his dream of opening a B&B. Offering her assistance, Shelby helps Levi with the renovations to the cabin that he has bought to house the new B&B. During the course of the renovation, Shelby ends up living in the cabin and between the two of them, the sparks fly like crazy between she and Levi, but both are afraid to act on their feelings.

Will these two be able to overcome what has happened in Shelby's past and will she be able to trust another man?

Melanie Shawn has created an amazing story with two super likable lead characters. The subject matter is a difficult one and they did a magnificent job of telling a respectful, beautiful story. I adore this series and this book is definitely one of my favorites!

I’ve missed Hope Falls and it’s totally orgasmic to revisit it and the wonderful characters have made the Hope Fall Series memorable and unforgettable.

The sister duo of Melanie and Shawna take the readers back to Hope Falls, to Shelby Kellan and the sexy and private Levi Dorsey. Shelby is coming back home to the safety of her family and the support of her friends, to escape a traumatic and abusive breakup. Hiding the truth from family and wanting to recuperate emotionally as she decides her future, Hope Falls is the perfect safety net. Or so she thinks until she faces Levi and ends up working in his bar.

The quiet and private ex detective Levi Dorsey wants to keep his life that – quiet and private. And private with his thoughts of Shelby and the perfect kiss they had shared more than a year ago. A kiss that had ruined him for any other woman, and an attraction and lust that only Shelby can cure. And working together everyday puts him on the edge of a precipice!! And his love for Shelby would always have him keeping her under his protective embrace.

Another simple, charming and a perfect love story, with all its imperfections, Melanie Shawn weaves magic to my heart’s content with Shelby and Levi. The detective in him realizes the pain behind Shelby and yet gives her the space to trust him enough with her fears. As for Shelby, as educated and savvy she may be, it takes courage and immense strength for any woman to break away from domestic abuse. She needs support, love and the security of family and friends, to protect and help her mend and as that abused woman Shelby is just perfect.

Captivating and charming, sizzling and hot, emotional and intense, “Perfect Kiss” is simply a perfect love story that would appeal to the heart and leave a smile of pure happiness.

Received an ARC from the author for an honest review.

Reading a Hope Falls novel, for me, is like visiting your hometown, with your best friends. The atmosphere is so friendly and accepting. The town folks are not shy to bug into your business, and they take care of their own. I love these stories, and have been waiting to read Levi's story ever since he was first introduced, because, really, Levi is just all that!
Levi has always come across as honest, loyal, protective, friendly, and kind. He is hot as all get out, and not shy about it. He knows who he is, and is proud of what he has accomplished, like he should be. I adore him!
Shelby, the sparkling, fun loving, beautiful, stubborn, spunky, kind and caring person, has gone through something that no one should have to endure. With time, and place to heal, she finds herself again, from the broken person she had begun.
I love the way the domestic abuse was handled in this story. It wasn't the main focus of the book, but it was dealt with serious, thoughtful, and respectful way towards the victim.
Levi and Shelby together were explosive. The chemistry, connection, attraction was burning hot, creating humorous moments, as Levi is trying to do the right thing, and giving Shelby time to heal. But when they get together, it is so amazing, beautiful, and loving, it left me breathless.
I cherish each Hope Falls novel, this, like all the others, made me laugh out loud (several times!), smile, sigh, swoon, and tear up. It is well written, with humor and love, not diminishing the tragedies in life, while celebrating all that is good in it

This book had me swooning not just because Levi is hot, but because he was so sweet and loving to Shelby. I felt the emotions of Levi and Shelby from the very start of the book, till the end.

It all starts with a kiss that Shelby and Levi had 18 months ago at Matt and Amy's wedding. That kiss was so intense that it spooked Shelby and she high tailed it out of Hope Falls. Shelby ends up in a relationship where she looses sight of the woman she was. She decides to come back to Hope Falls to visit her brother Matt, Amy and her twin nieces. She's hoping to mend emotionally, physically and find herself worth.

Levi can't believe that the woman that kissed him and left him, is back in town. This woman has haunted his dreams and desires for the past 18 months. On his first meeting with Shelby he realizes that she's not the same woman he met. His Shelby, the fiery, no-nonsense woman is very quiet and reminds him of a broken little bird. It breaks his heart to see the woman he cares for in this condition.

The topics in this book, make the emotions so raw, vulnerable, sweet and tender, that you just become to invested in the character and want their happy ending to come. I think this is one of my favorite books of this series. Again, Melanie Shawn just writes these emotions that get you right in your heart. I highly recommend this book and anything she writes! She won't disappoint you at all.

Another beautiful heart warming story!

The Hope Falls series by Melanie Shawn is one of my favorite series! I have loved every installment of this series and this book was no different. I have been waiting some time to see what lucky lady was going to catch Hope Fall's resident hot bartender's eye. I could not have picked a more perfect woman than Shelby. Shelby is running from a very bad relationship, that has not only cased her emotional and physical pain, it has also caused her to loose her true self. She comes to Hope Falls to recuperate and find the parts of herself she lost. What she didn't expect was the person to help her put the pieces back together would be sexy bartender Levi.

This book was truly amazing! Melanie Shawn walked a really fine line with the heavy subject matter that could have made this book a bit depressing. However, they were able to inject the right amount of comic relief exactly when you needed it most. The true artistry was the humor never took away from the real feelings and struggles of the characters. I love all the Hope Falls books so much. Getting to read this new installment for me was a chance to check in with characters I fell like are old friends. This book can be read as a stand alone but I would highly recommend you read the series from the beginning. Five stars! I cannot wait until June fore the next book!

This story is another installment in the Hope Falls series. Sometimes, I read long -erm series and am bored or let down by the story arc. Yes, it's the same town, yes, I get to check in on some characters I liked, but the overall feel of the storyline is stale and the primary characters aren't all that interesting. This is absolutely not one of those stories in a stale, long-term series!
This was a fresh story with hints of characters that we know and a setting that is familiar.
Levi and Shelby shared a kiss at her brother's wedding, in the town of Hope Falls, 18 months ago. She left Hope Falls for home, convincing herself that the chemistry she felt was a fluke. She gets involved in a terrible new relationship and loses not only her sense of self, but any sense of stability. To help find her way back to solid ground, she goes back to Hope Falls to spend some time with her brother's family and quickly settles into small town life. Levi can sense she's changes, even if Shelby isn't sharing any secrets.
The main characters have chemistry, both have issues to overcome to find their happy ending, and are well matched. The story flowed well and kept my interest. The authors do a great job with pacing and creating likable characters. It's another solid winner from this writing duo.

Melanie Shawn has been one of my favorite authors since I was introduced to her Crossroads Series, and since starting to read the Hope Falls Series I have been just as enamored with her characters and the storylines. I love that when I start any of Melanie's books I am immediately sucked in and don't want to stop reading at any cost. But I am truly bummed when I am done and have to wait until I can start my next journey into Hope Falls. I also love that these books can be read as standalone novels, but who's kidding? Do any of us do that? I think we all one-click our way through the series as fast as we can read them. But that aside, I thoroughly enjoy that we still have character reappearances through the series and we get to continue on in their stories as well.

Perfect Kiss is just that, a perfect love story with humor and love, sorrow and joy, chemistry and crazy heat, all the things that make Melanie Shawn's books so realistic and endearing. I loved these characters and the way they healed each other and through that, their happily ever after. I thought Melanie blended the characters vulnerability and strength magically to handle a delicate storyline topic. All of Melanie's books always have the perfect blend of romance, sex and plot.

This can be ready as a standalone novel, even though you will want to read the entire series, in order!

It’s been awhile since I have been to visit Hope Falls and this book really brought it home why I love this series. It was so great to catch up with the characters I have met in other books and I think some of them realy stole the show, namely Amy (who is a mom of twins) and Uncle Henry.

The heroine in this story is Shelby, she is Matt’s perky, single sister you met in his story where he falls for Amy, Shelby came to town for their wedding 18 months before and danced with Levi and they shared one really rockin, perfect kiss. Since then both have dreamed of each other. However, Shelby was not single 18 months before and since then she has been in terrible danger. She finally escaped to Hope Falls and that’s where the story picks up.

I loved both Levi and Shelby. If you thought Levi was hot before, well he is even more terrific as you get to know him. And Shelby as she falls for him, is totally perfect for him. The story was wonderfall with lots of surprises and I loved this story. Levi has a cousin, Adam who is in the next book and I loved him. Hopefully he will be mixing it up with Jane and I cannot wait.

Such a feel good love story ... and HOT to boot! :)

Levi Dorsey is a 35 year old Bar Owner/Bartender who spent his childhood looking after his alcoholic Mom, then gave up his boxing dreams to take care of his twin brothers when she died. It's no wonder he has never wanted to be saddled with a long term relationship. Quick affairs have been perfect with him, until he meets Shelby Kellan at a wedding that is. He shares a hot kiss with her, and still can't get her off his mind a year and a half later. It just makes his day when she walks back into his bar.

Shelby is back, but she's a shadow of the woman he met 18 months ago. She's hiding whatever brought her running to her brother's for a visit, but Levi can tell she's scared and that someone hurt her. He offers her a job, and gives her a more private place to stay than her brothers, and lets it be known that he's there for her if she wants to talk about what's on her mind. She doesn't. And the two of them spend weeks fighting their mutual attraction for each other.

Can Levi break down her walls and make her trust him? And could Shelby actually be the one to make Levi want to think about forever?

I was so happy when I heard there was going to be more in the Hope falls series and I wasn't disappointed..
In Perfect Kiss we see Levi, the owner of JTs Roadhouse.. At his friends wedding he danced with the beauty Shelby, ever since then he hasn't stopped thinking about her.. There's one problem, he hasn't seen her since that night a year and a half ago... Until she walks into the bar one night, but she looks and acts different... Which only makes him what to hug her and find out what is bothering her.. Shelby hasn't been able to get him out of her mind, but the last thing she needs is to get involved with any man... She's broken and needs a place to get her life back on track.. But neither of them can deny the chemistry that's between them... I fell in love with Levi and Shelby and my heart broke for them and what they have been through... I was so excited to hear there was more books coming in the Hope Falls series and as usual with Melanie and Shawna, I wasn't disappointed...

Levi and Shelby shared a perfect kiss almost a year and a half ago, yet neither can get it out of their mind.
Levi owns a bar and is pretty content with his life. His latest dream, to by the house behind the bar has just come true and after some extensive reno, he'll also be the proud owner of a B & B. Life seems to be pretty darn good.
Re-enter Shelby into Levi's bar. She looks as wonderful as before, but something just isn't right. The chemistry is still bouncing back and forth, yet Shelby has lost a bit of her sparkle. She's come to Hope Falls to re-examine her life and put the pieces back together. She needs a place to stay, a job, and some hope in her life. Levi offers her a job and a place to stay. In return, Shelby wants to help him do some of the work on his bed and breakfast done so he can fulfill his dream. The heat is there, the togetherness is there, and the possibility of romance is in the air.
Hope Falls is a wonderful place filled with delightful characters. I love a series and this one by Melanie Shawn is a flabulous read.

I love series that are location books following a group. It's like being at home and getting to know the people and the town.

Perfect Kiss is the story of Levi and Shelby. They met briefly in Hope Falls, shared a wonderful night getting to know one another, and a soul-searing kiss. Shelby is frightened by the passion from that single kiss and leaves without a way to reconnect with Levi. Both are full of regrets of what could have been. Eighteen months have passed, Shelby is running from an abusive relationship and returns to Hope Falls to heal for the summer.

I love how Levi took his difficult past and learned from it. He did not grow bitter, but smarter and more caring. Shelby's past is still too near and new and she is in the process of growing and learning. Levi senses this and will do anything to give her the friendship and space she needs to heal on her own. This is so true of any situation, especially abusive relationships, the person has to want to break the cycle. Shelby took the first step in leaving.

This is the first Melanie Shawn book I've read. Book nine in a series may not have been the best place to start. I did enjoy the story of Shelby and Levi, but I had a couple of issues with the flow of the book. First, you get introduced to secondary characters all at once. There was no gradual meeting, they were just there. Second, everything seemed to happen right away. Shelby has not had a good year, but she seems to recover overnight and Levi barely knows Shelby and yet, he's in love. It was hard to follow the reasoning of these characters. In the book, time passes normally, but it doesn't seem that way. One chapter, Levi is tearing down walls in his new house and the next chapter it's a few weeks later and he's lighting a fire in the fireplace and he has an entire bathroom tiled. It just didn't feel right.
I am happy that I read this book. The pop culture references are great and Melanie Shawn is a savvy writer. Although I had some issues with this story, I'm going to read the next book in the series and I will probably go back and read the first eight books.

I have read many books by Melanie Shawn but this is the first book that I have read in the Hope Falls series and it definitely will not be the last. I loved the book from start to finish. You could feel the chemistry between Levi and Shelby from the beginning. Although Shelby starts off as a broken shell of the person she used to be you see how strong she is by how hard she fights to overcome everything that happened to her. I loved Levi. He came across as a sexy, strong, and capable man. Shelby and Levi together made a great team and the chemistry in and out of the bedroom was off the charts. I loved the way the domestic abuse was handled. It was not main focus of the story but it was dealt with in a serious way. You saw how Shelby overcame everything that happened to her and how Levi supported her along the way. I loved the book from start to finish and I cannot wait to read more books in this series.

The Hope Falls series has always been an automatic buy for me and this book was no exception. However, once I discovered it dealt with the subject of domestic violence, I almost returned it. I decided to trust the authors and give it a chance as I have really enjoyed their past books, and I'm glad that I did - I would have missed out on a very good love story otherwise. Although the domestic violence issue was an integral part of the story, it did not overpower it and the authors handled the subject with optimism, the message being that you can break free and be happy in another relationship. Levi and Shelby were good together and most of the backdrop of the story takes place in Levi's bar, which was small-town friendly, cozy and comfortable. An excellent romantic read that I would highly recommend.

I absolutely loved Levi and Shelby's story. Shelby is Matt's sister and her story picks up 18 months after Matt and Amy's wedding. Shelby has experienced domestic violence and has left her life in Arizona to start over in Hope a Falls. No one knows what happened to her, but Levi looks deeper than her repeatedly saying she was fine and realizes just what she has been through. I love every visit to Hope Falls. It is a small town I would love to live in and spend time with the people who live there. I also love how the couples from all the previous books make appearances in all subsequent books. I enjoy the connections and how the books related to each other. It allows for believable connections between each grouping of books. I would highly recommend this book and look forward to reading about more of the Dorsey men.

LEVI... I could leave it at that cause he was EPIC. Shelby is coming from a very dark relationship. She's hidden the truths of what has happened to her. She wants to go to someplace safe. So she heads to Hope Falls to spend time with her cousin Amy and her husband Matt. All she wants is to enjoy spending time with the babies and maybe make a bit of Money. Levi hasn't stopped thinking of Shelby in the 18 months since the shared a life changing kiss. Yet when she comes back into town his first instinct is not to chase her, but protect her. I adore this series, Levi wanted nothing more then to make sure she was alright. They held each other back before they finally were like yeah we need to be together. LOVED IT

I love Melanie Shawn books and this was no exception.
When the memory of one kiss lasts over a year and a half it has to mean something. Neither Levi nor Shelby knows what it is that makes their connection so strong but seeing one another after such a long time makes it quite clear that time has not diminished the intense attraction between the two of them. Shelby has been through so much in the time since she last saw Levi and trusting someone else, another man, is not an easy task. Levi has been on his own for so long and wasn't looking for a forever love. But the two quickly realize that's there's no point in fighting what's between them. Their path to find their happily ever after might not be a smooth one a love that strong won't be denied.

Perfect Kiss is probably one of my favorite reads so far this year. Shelby and Levi met at Shelby's brothers wedding, and the sparks flew immediately. In this story, we see where those sparks lead to. Shelby is a bit broken after some recent happenings in her life. It was awesome to find this once confident woman rediscover her confidence and life. Levi is a hot bar owner, and he gives Shelby space, but is also there for her. The chemistry between these 2 was hot, and I'm not sure how they kept their clothes on as long as they did :). It was very well written, and once I started reading I couldn't put it down. I definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a fantastic contemporary romance read
