Sinjin (Vampire Esquire)

Rate this book
If you like your books steamy (this is an adult paranormal romance, not for kids or teens!) read on!

SINJIN is the first book in the Bryn and Sinjin Paranormal Romance series:

Abandoned on the battlefield by the people she calls her tribe, Bryn must face the fact that she is now playing prisoner to the Queen of the Underworld, who also happens to be her fraternal twin sister. As the days and months go by with no word from the Supreme Elder of her tribe, Bryn thinks her life couldn’t get much worse.

While Bryn bemoans her imprisonment, her sister, Jolie, is doing everything in her power to ensure that blood ties are thicker than they appear. Jolie wants nothing more than to befriend Bryn and teach her not to hate the Underworld, but to embrace it.

But Bryn fights the very idea of becoming one with her enemies, although she can’t help her attraction to a certain six-hundred-year-old English vampire, Sinjin Sinclair. Once Bryn is placed in Sinjin’s care, she’ll find herself battling the undeniable magnetism of the vampire, the one creature she abhors above all others.

Sinjin’s quick wit, his indisputable sex appeal, and the mystery that surrounds him all point to the fact that if Bryn falls for him, she’ll be in over her head. But, as a warrior through and through, Bryn isn’t the type to fall for anything, especially a handsome face. If anyone should be able to withstand the lure of the vampire, Bryn appears to be the likeliest candidate.

Of course, looks can be deceiving…

I’m a huge fan of anything paranormal and I always have been. I get super excited whenever they have those Twilight Zone Marathon days and anything ghost or vampire related will always attract my attention.

My interests are varied but aside from writing, I’m most excited about traveling. I’m extremely fortunate to have been able to live in England and Scotland, both places really having a profound effect on my books.

Thanks for checking out my books and I hope you enjoy them! Happy Haunting!

3.5 stars.

When I started this I had no idea that it was a sort of follow on from the authors Jolie Wilkins series, and since I've only read one of them I had no idea about a lot of what had happened previously. That being said, it wasn't necessary to read them as such but it would have helped with background info on the characters.

I liked Sinjin and his flirtatious behaviour towards Bryn. I would have enjoyed seeing more of him and Bryn and for her to actually give in instead of fighting him tooth and nail over her attraction to him.

And from that ending, I have a feeling that something quite big is going to happen in the next one and Sinjin will probably hunt her down using the blood connection and maybe end up bedding her?

I do look forward to the next one.

I loved every book in the Jolie Wilkins series so I'm disappointed that I didn't love "Sinjin". Really this book should have been called Bryn.
I found parts of it to be repetitive and disjointed. In my opinion some of Bryn's dialogue really did not fit her. The last few chapters is where things really start to pick up and then you're left with one of Mallory's infamous cliff hangers. I'm interested to see what happens.

I am giving this one 4.5 ONLY because I really wanted it from Sinjin's perspective, but holy cow Batman Bryn is going to be a fun ride too!

WARNING: This book is steamy, so steamy in fact I felt awkward reading it it in front of my brother. There are so pretty thought provoking scenes between Bryn and Sinjin. I promise.

WARNING: This is one hell of a cliffhanger, but if you are a fan of Jolie or the Dulcie series you totally knew a hell of a cliffhanger would likely occur, but I will say this is one of the best cliffhangers ever.

I will say what made this book fun is that it is from a "villians" perspective while finishing out some of the slight unfinished business in the Jolie Wilkin's series.

FANTASTIC JOB Mallory, and I hope you are writing fast and furious lady because with that cliffhanger, you are gonna have some demanding fans!

Bryn prides herself in her physical abilities but she is so brainwashed by her tribe it's sickening. She lacks experience when it comes to relationships and men. I didn't like her for hating everyone at Konlich Kirk when they were being so nice to her. Her sister Jolie had to keep her locked in the guest house during her stay because , well, she was their prisoner now.

After the first visitation by Luce, the head of her tribe, he tells her she must befriend them. When Luce visits again, he is ready to capture Jolie and Bryn. The Lurkers are a wierd and mysterious breed... they creep me out.

Definitely wasn't expecting the outcome of this book. Although the name of the series gives away who ends up with Bryn, the author does not leave you 100 percent certain the entire time. There were times when I was second guessing Bryn's thoughts. The actual background between Elementals and the Underworld is fairly common, but the story line is somewhat refreshing.

Sinjin….. S and I have very different feeling about him, but one thing we can both agree on is there is something redoubtably sexy about the bad boy vampire. I feel in love with his witty charm and mystery in the Jolie Wilkin series and his intentions have been a question mark ever since. I was thrilled to hear HP Mallory would be giving us a glimpse into his mind with this new series. While I found this book to be extremely entertaining and a breeze to get through, I also felt a little robbed. I was really hoping to get to read from his point of view since sinjins is such an enigma. Half the time I read about him I’m having an inner monologue that goes something like…”What is he thinking when he says that?” followed by me shrugging my shoulders only to ask the question “I wonder if he actually means what he says.” and “does he actually care?” This book was told from Bryns perspective who is the polar opposite to her girly and light hearted long lost twin sister Jolie. Weird, because the book is called Sinjin.

Maybe this sounds bad but I don’t really care about Bryn and Jolies relationship. I want more Sinjin! There is tons of sexually tension between Sinjin and Bryn, write more about that Mallory! I loved reading the banter and magnetic chemistry these two seem to have. Bryn is Sinjins match, She is snarky and witty and can dish back anything Sinjin throws at her. Mallory has promised this book is not for the faint of heart, perhaps she hasn’t read many romance novels but lets hope things heat up with these two. Sinjin seemed to have developed a conscience which is super annoying. Lets get back to the wicked, filthy and seductive attitude that we know and love from my favorite vamp.

Right, so a few words sum up this story:

--Gives thumbs up to sexual assault (happened to the MC by two different guys)
--The author obvious hates women
--Unoriginal
--Immature
--Stupid

I picked this up as a free deal from Amazon. So glad I didn't waste money. I skimmed almost the entire book.

But seriously, why do authors think this kind of depiction of hatred for their female MCs or the positive depiction of rape--just because her body is stimulated by a male that makes it okay, even though she tells him "No," repeatedly--is okay and entertaining?

Bryn cannot believe her people left her behind and haven't come back for her yet. Being the prisoner of Jolie, the Queen of the Underworld sucks. It doesn't help matters that the queen, her enemy, is her twin sister.

Bryn knows Jolie wants to befriend her, but it goes against everything she's been taught. When Jolie puts her in the care of two bodyguards, Bryn has no choice but to agree if she wants to move about freely. One in particular, Sinjin, rubs her the wrong way. He's a vampire she plans to keep her distance from at all costs. Easy enough, right?

I thought the SINJIN SINCLAIR series would be told from Sinjin's point of view, but turns out it's from Jolie's twin sister, Bryn's. And strangely, I wasn't disappointed in the first novel, SINJIN. I give it 3.5 stars, only for the skipped ahead to ending. I wanted more of the events leading up to the "big event".

However, I very much enjoyed getting to know Bryn. Bryn and Jolie are so different, due to their upbringings, so it's refreshing to see what Jolie might have been like if she'd grew up in Bryn's position. I also enjoy the small similarities between the two and of course, the undeniable connection they share.

While I didn't like Sinjin for Jolie, he's perfect for Bryn. The attraction between them is undeniable. Although, he's still a little hung up on Jolie, it's clear he is coming to care for Bryn. I can't wait to see what is in store for them next.

Yikes, this book is not good. It's supposed to be an adult paranormal romance, but the characters all think and act like children. There's no real conflict or internal struggle; it all reads rather shallow since there aren't any consequences for any of the characters.

The story also seemed confused as to what its genre was. At first glace, it comes across as fantasy, but then actual modern brands are introduced into the story. Needless to say, it was jarring.

Also, the last 20% of the book was previews for other books by the same author. I almost DNF'd at about 70% of the page count which would have been actually 87% through the story.

I really wanted to like this one. I have enjoyed all of the other series by H.P. Mallory and Sinjin is one of my favorite characters.... but in the end, it was just flat. The story was not up to standards and should have had just more to it. The chemistry with Bryn and Sinjin felt forced and Sinjin's normal hypnotic yet frustrating personality was just not there. I will read more of her series but I am done with this one. It just didn't leave you wanting more.

Two sister meet under extreme circumstances. The queen of the Underworld and her sister , a warrior peated against each other. Bryn is a prisoner of her sister she did not know she had. Coming into play is the vampire Sinjin who is a protector for Jolie. But there appears to be a sexual relation between Bryn and Sinjin although Bryn will not admit it. Plus she is trying to find a way to escape. But has her relationship with her sister clouded her mind.

I discovered H.P. Mallory in 2012 with the first Jolie Wilkins book. I was instantly hooked. Mallory’s books have the perfect blend of romance, friendship, and magic. There are plenty of surprises and action. You connect with the characters. I can’t put her books down and am always wanting more! Her books are amazing.

I had read the Jolie series awhile ago and never got around to reading Sinjin, cause I didn't believe that there would be continuation...boy was I wrong!!
This picks up right where the other series ends. I'm kicking myself for not reading it, but glad that I finally have!
In to the next one in the series!!!

Very little about sinjin

I loved jolie and rand and how Jolie became queen. Bryn and sinjin are a great finish to that story. I was really hoping to get a more in-depth look at sinjin and why he acts the way he does. I will be likely buying the next book and hope that more about him will be revealed.

A new perspective

This book is written from Bryn and Sinjins perspective but I was hoping for more love story. As a continuation of the main plot it's fine but a bit slow. I have started the next book and that seems to pick up so I can live with this one being slower. As a series this is great and I always respect anyone who writes as I never could

I was not impressed with Bryn or her sister at all. Not sure why this book was called Sinjin, because honestly he really didn't do anything. Just really not impressed at all. I felt like I was reading YA.

I absolutely loved Sinjin, but Bryan is not my favorite- YET. I will read the next book. I loved the previous series and I was probably the only one to want the interaction with Jolie and Sinjin to continue.

Best beginning for Bryn and Sinjin, it's amazing how much you can get in about the super natural. Will there be a happy ending?? Will evil be defeated by good??

If you read my blog, and if you haven't - please check it out here, then you know I am a HUGE fan of HP Mallory and have coined myself the Team Sinjin Ambassador. Yes, I love his character that much, don't judge me! This book has been on my mind since HP first announced her plan for a spin-off series focused around my favorite vampire of all-time.

Now that that the book is finally here, I am excited to say...the wait was so incredibly worth it! This book is a delicious mix of emotional turmoil, danger, action, humor, with a huge dollop of sexual tension and a cliffhanger ending that will leave you screaming for more!

This is definitely a must-read series for all paranormal romance and urban fantasy lovers.

Kick-ass heroine - check
Swoon-worthy hero - check
An ending that will leave you begging for more - check, check, check!

Bryn is everything Jolie is not. She is a warrior who is set in her ways and her mission: to destroy her enemies...even if it means she has to take down her own sister. The problem is, with each passing day in her sisters company (aka her prisoner), she can't help being drawn to her, her growing family and, even if she doesn't want to admit it, her super sexy, yet incredibly annoying "guard" Sinjin.

Sinjin is pompous, annoying, complicated and most of all...sexy! Bryn can't help being drawn to him, but she must fight her attraction since he is the enemy and she knows one day she will have to end him. No matter how drawn to each other they are, they are equally sure that they both have secrets that will not only tear apart their world, but the lives of the people around them.

When the world that you know is turned upside down and your enemy is your own sister; the man you are attracted to is your biggest threat, and the one you are loyal to leaves you abandoned and alone - who will you side with when the real war begins? A war is brewing and Bryn is right in the middle. Will she abandon her people and side with Sinjin, or will she give it all up to keep her vow as warrior to her people? In the end, there can only be one winner and the deciding factor is Bryn.

Wowza! This book had me at the edge of my seat until the very end where we receive the mother of all cliffhangers! What I love about this read is that there are two central dynamics: The growing attraction of Brynjin (Bryn and Sinjin) and the relationship that is developing between Brylie (Bryn and Jolie), my two favorite sisters! This series is as much about Brinjin as it is about Brylie and I love the dynamics of both relationships. I also love that I can satisfy my catchy moniker addiction with two awesome team names..lol

Bryn is such a different character than Jolie. She is a fighter, a true warrior who has never been in touch with her emotions. For us Jolie fans, we know she is the complete opposite. Strong, but in a completely different way. She acts on emotion and instincts, and truly sees the good in everyone. Together, they bring out the best in each other. The problem is, will Jolie's trust in Bryn be unfounded? Bryn has the power to bring Jolie down. The question now is...will she?

Of course, if Bryn wanted to get to Joile - she would have to first get passed Sinjin. Oh Sinjin, he is as deviously sexy as ever. Bryn has never been so attracted to a man, and who can blame her. It is Sinjin! His snarky comments, smooth arrogance, pristine fashion sense and take-charge attitude will bring any woman to her knees. The more Bryn tries to fight her emotions, the more she finds herself attracted to him and that's a problem. She knows one day she will have to put a final end to him, but will her heart allow her to? Either way, the budding romance between her and Sinjin is just glorious. The constant banter and sexual tension will keep you racing through the pages.
The ongoing battle within Bryn takes you on an emotional rollercoaster ride. She is unchartered waters without a life raft and the only one who can save her is herself. The problem is, no matter which side she chooses, someone she loves is going to get hurt.

Again, I am already so invested in this series and cannot wait for the next installment.

Jolie fans will especially love this as we get to see our favorite characters and the same world that we have come to love in the original series. Rand and the council are all in attendance. Odran fans - you will get some one on one time with the Fae King.

All in all, this is an amazing read. HP Mallory is so talented and she never ceases to amaze me. This is another 5 star book for an author that is capable of nothing less!

It took entirely too long to get to the action then it just stopped. Otherwise it was an entertaining read of a character I really didn't like in the other series. He isn't any more likeable than before but you can see the cracks start to appear. I will give it another try. I like this author and I'm really hopeful that it wasn't the story but my dislike of his character.
