Revelation often confuses and mystifies those who read it. This book will enable the reader to understand Revelation with clarity and confidence. Every verse is thoroughly explained in an easy to understand and biblically satisfying manner.
Written from an Amillennial Covenantial Idealist perspective, it sets forth a Reformed interpretation that corrects the errors of Dispensationalism.
This book is designed for pastors who need help in understanding, expounding, and applying the book of Revelation to their congregations from the pulpit. The outlines embedded in each chapter, the clarity and completeness of the exposition of each verse, and the applications provided will be a valuable help in message preparation. The introduction provides an extended explanation of the interpretive approach needed to properly understand the book. The body of the work contains a complete exposition of Revelation and Daniel 2 and 7. The four appendices contain an exposition of Matthew 24, Daniel 9, Ezekiel 40-43, and the source and nature of civil government.
This book is also designed for believers who desire to understand Revelation. It will finally make sense to them, and it will powerfully inspire them. They will see the triumph of Christ in defeating and destroying the works of the Devil. They will understand the spiritual warfare they must fight to defeat Satan and his helpers. They will be equipped to effectively advance the Kingdom of God and persevere in the faith. They will be encouraged to face the future with optimism and confidence as they contemplate the glories of the new heaven and the new earth that await them. The blessings and the triumph that Revelation promises can be understood and obtained by every Christian!
Max’s book has given me a complete Bible, and this commentary is so compelling that I am now in my fifth reading of it! Max Doner’s insights and exegesis are brilliant, yet the language and presentation are so accessible that a child can understand it.
Max uses only Biblical references to explain and substantiate his interpretation of every verse, and nothing else. It is the Bible explaining the Bible. I find it very exciting to see the meaning of all the imagery and numerology coming straight out of Scripture! What made the letter inaccessible has been removed, and Revelation has become an open book to me.
A manual of spiritual warfare? I was surprised by the title, but the answer is Yes! From the first chapter right to the end, we are given orders and instructions for overcoming everything that may try to turn us from Christ. This is our warfare. Now I can see that this is a letter of comfort, encouragement, and hope meant for God’s people during the entire church age.
I was gifted the two-volumes that make up this set. (Full disclosure, I affirm the historical premillennial perspective concerning eschatology (though I like the perspective represented by the author).)
That said, these books provide an easy-to-read, lay-friendly commentary through Revelation from an amillennial perspective. It is worth noting that these books are collections of sermons (and aren’t commentaries in the pure sense).
It couldn’t be utilized for academic research (it isn’t a technical commentary by any means), however, devotionally, it could be useful especially for those seeking to understand Revelation through an amillennial lens.
Confused about the meaning of the book of revelation? Are you wondering what view is correct? Wonder no longer, Max Doner will clear things up for you. Great hermeneutics, exegetical, and above all pastoral. Max Doner brings it all together in this two volume book, Revelation: A Manual of Spiritual Warfare.
