Cole Denton is an ocean lover who finds joy in almost all physical activities. He is especially passionate about baseball and surfing, indulging in them every chance he gets.
His other passion is writing. It began at a young age and followed him through to his time at a university in SoCal where he majored in screenwriting.
After moving to Sin City, Cole has put his knowledge and talent as a writer to work by pursuing a career as a dark fiction author. Cole is enjoying testing his kinky side, in pursuit of all things pleasurable.
I was just Denton Destroyed. Cole Denton has an incredible talent of creating these fictional characters and you get so invested in their story and lives. It’s easy to forget they are fictional. I never thought I could have my heart destroyed as much as a few of his previous books, but I was sorely mistaken. This book is told from Patrick’s POV. OH MY HEART! I won’t lie, several parts of this book broke me. I wanted to crawl into this world and protect him. I absolutely despise Eli and Sebastian and Patrick’s father. These are the real monsters of the world. They made me blindingly angry. Thankfully, Patrick finds himself with the Ward family and sees there are good people in this world. Hollis and his family are amazing and I just want to thank them for loving him. He isn’t a throwaway. He is deserving of love and IS loved. Ugh. This is a must read but that ending? What a cliffhanger?!!
This book tore me up about as bad as Forged did. My heart was breaking for Patrick reading his side of his life. I cried and sobbed, having to stop at times, too blurry eyed to read through tears. The way Cole writes enthralls you. He makes you so vested in his characters, that they seem real. Having Hollis as his friend and the Hawkins family treat him like their own, was so what Patrick deserved. But with all his changes in life for the better, inside he was still beaten down, never feeling good enough, feeling like a Throwaway. His love and need for Hollis makes you ache inside for him. Wanting Hollis to love him like he needs. Patrick has a special place in my heart right next to Ryan. They are Kindred Spirits. Thank you Cole, for taking us on this journey and making us have all the feels.
Wow, is what I'll start off saying about this book "The Throwaway ". Cole Denton you've done it again you've broke me. Before you read " The Throwaway " you do need to read Book one "The Dragon ". The Throwaway is told from Patrick's perspective and I personally only got as far as The Prologue and chapter 1 before I had to put the book down because I was crying. The hell that Patrick goes through from an early age at the hands of his father and stepbrother will have you gripped but will also have you screaming at the book. Patrick and Hollis relationships is definitely a close second for me to Ryan and Russell. Another fantastic book Cole ❤️🙂, thank you x
Heart wrenching and compelling. This story is told in the events mirroring the first book but told from Patrick’s POV.
Patrick endured so much pain and heart break. It was hard reading some of the things he endured.
This story reminded me a lot of Ryan’s story.
Hollis is the light and protective force in helping to heal Patrick and his wounds. Absolutely love Hollis and his family and their love for Patrick. I just wanted to jump through this story and hug that poor young man.
Patrick’s father. Sebastian and Eli are monsters. And if you’ve read the Club Oxygen series you will se a certain character has crossed over into this series.
Like most Cole Denton books I was hooked and couldn’t put the story down. These characters and storytelling are raw and he’s a master at making you feel intense feelings for them.
Unbelievably mesmerizing! Emotionally riveting. Raw. Another captivating read. Cole Denton at his finest. Beautifully written. I stopped what I was reading to read The Throwaway because I had been anticipating its release. Patrick's story had me teary-eyed from the get-go. I wanted to jump into the story and "hug" him. It's heart-wrenching but also heart-warming. Patrick's story speeds its way into your heart with irresistible characters and a depth of emotion that borders on addictive. I became invested in this cast of characters from book 1, The Dragon. Both - are amazing reads. I started trying to slow down at the end because I didn't want it to be over. And then...Chase! This story and book 1 are SO deserving of your reading time. Do yourself a favor and go one-click both.
Cole Denton takes no prisoners in the second book of his Takedown Series. You do need to read book one, The Dragon before reading The Throwaway. The Throwaway is told from Patrick’s point of view and we discover more of the hell he has endured at the hands of his family. Tough to read in places, but a compelling journey of self discovery and coming of age for Patrick. This book hit me hard. It hit me as hard as Denton’s Forged did and I thought that would be impossible to do again. Hollis and Patrick are unforgettable characters and their relationship is fast becoming one of my favourites. Impatiently waiting for book three of this must read series! Highly recommended.
If you thought that Patrick's story was brutal from Hollis's perspective just wait until you hear it from Patrick's....
When this book started, I wasn't entirely sure what to expect but if I have learned anything about a Cole Denton book it is trust the process. We got to see how Hollis and Patrick became who they were for one another, but we didn't get to see why Patrick was the way he was. The Throwaway takes you on Patrick's emotional journey of heartbreak before he finally finds a place to call home.
You must read The Dragon book 1 in the Takedown series or this book will absolutely make no sense because it is very much a continuation. There are so many things I could say about how much my heart broke for Patrick and how I adored how he found his home not only in Hollis but in his family too.
What I will say is Cole will always make you feel. Sometimes those feelings are heartbreak or that genuine sigh of happiness when things start to come together and other times you might want to throw the book across the house. Either way, his stories have nothing less than pure heartfelt love even if it takes you on a journey to get there.
Another emotional roller coaster from Cole. Patrick is right up there on the list of his characters that you want to keep safe. If you've read the Club Oxygen series it somewhat helps to say at least this character who I will not name is dead lol. Chase is adorable as ever. The Ward family is lovely. But the ending...are you serious???
Cole and Patrick have wrecked me! This book is Patrick's POV and I've been an emotional basket case from page one. Never have I ever wanted to hug someone so much and protect them from their demons. Thank god for Hollis! As always, Cole writes a brilliant story that tugs on your heartstrings, makes you curse and threaten physical harm to characters, while still infusing his humor and light hearted banter throughout. At some points I wasn't sure if my tears were from sadness or laughter. And lets not forget Cole's ability to weave those twists and turns into the storyline, merging series together and leaving you once again with "what did I just read?"!!! I highly recommend this series and cannot wait for the next book!
I absolutely love Patrick, his story is broken, but he is finding his way. He has connected himself with one of the most popular kids in school, Hollis "the dragon" Ward and would do anything for him. He has come through so much and has turned into his own person and for once in his life feels cared about and believes the family that has adopted him loves him as if he were their own. He is sweet, caring and stronger than he knows. I fell for him in The Dragon and cannot wait to see what's next. Cole Denton, brings the damaged and broken to the page, giving the love, compassion and ability to flourish in all of his stories. The Takedown series is a perfectly beautiful in it's own way.
Gah! This book! I’m an emotional wreck! Cole Denton introduced us to Patrick in The Dragon, book 1 of this series, but in The Throwaway he really put my heart through the wringer as he delved into the details of Patrick’s childhood and his developing relationship with Hollis. It’s gut wrenching and heart warming and spicy all at the same time as Patrick deals with his past and questions his future with Hollis. I can’t wait for The Protege, the next book in The Takedown Series!
Patrick's story is one to be read and hold on to your heart. As he fights through a traumatic childhood he will find his way into your heart as well as Hollis Ward. These two become inseparable. Cole Denton put so much heart in this book well he always puts everything he has in his books. Definitely grab The THROWAWAY and your tissues. Cole always deserves more than 5 stars.
Another great book by Cole Denton. “ Patrick’s” story, he is an amazing young man who has lived through so much torture and pain from his father and stepbrother. A couple of times he even considered to end his life which would end all his horrific life. Hollis Ward “ The Dragon” and awesome friend to Patrick steps in and his parents and family take him in, protect him, help him through the healing. Patrick and Hollis become more than just friends.
This is the second book in the Takedown series by Cole Denton. I have to admit I was reluctant to read this series, thinking it was just an average sports story. I couldn't have been more wrong. We are following Hollis on his journey to fame in the world of cage fighting. On the personal side of things, he and Patrick are still best friends and couldn't be happier, even though Patrick still struggles with insecurities. This book was great! It is definitely a 5 star read. Sorry, no spoilers. Get this book ASAP and find out what happens next.
Cole Denton does it again by creating another heart wrenching read in the 2nd book of the Takedown series. I just want to gather Patrick up and give him all the love he needs and deserves. This book will pull at all your emotions and leave you wanting more. I am always amazed at how Cole creates characters that cause such strong feelings for, whether good or bad!
Patrick shattered my heart in The Dragon and obliterated it here. I was expecting a few things, wanted a few things and loved it all, well except… that. No child/person should ever have to endure what Patrick did and it’s sad that many do. I can’t wait for book three, The Protégé, next. I’m hooked on this series. 🖤🔥🥊🔥🖤
Gah! I just love Cole’s writing! This book is from Patrick’s POV. It’s heartbreaking and gut wrenching until he is rescued by Hollis, like in book 1. This book moves further into the story which is steamy and hot! I can’t wait for book 4 because that cliffhanger got the best of me!
Where do I begin. This book is everything and more. Simple words like fantastic and amazing are not enough for this story. You go on such a journey with Patrick you can feel it all. Oh and Hollis is as delicious as ever. I have one thing whyyyyyy. The writing and flow of the book is perfect. I beyond recommend this book and author.
The Dragon sure holds up to my expectations. So much intensity. I'm smiling one minute, gasping for air the next. Whether it's a victory, or someone needing a hug after a nightmare. If you need to feel safe and loved, this is the book for you. Cole Denton sure knows how to mess with my emotions.
I can’t express how good this book was. It will rip your heart apart and then put it back together. Patrick’s story is heartbreaking and triumphant. Denton writes such an amazing story and you will feel every word of it. I highly recommend this book.
The Throwaway (The Takedown series Book 2) is Patrick's story, and just like The Dragon, it is excellently written. This series packs a powerful punch and leaves us with quite the cliffhanger. I can't wait for book 3!
I could not put it down! I read it all in one day. It was not what I was expecting but everything I needed. I should have known since Cole Denton always takes me on an emotional ride in his books. Can’t wait for book three; already one-clicked my preorder!
Cole Denton has thrown all this emotion and heat into the story of Patrick. Abuse is not acceptable anytime anywhere. Those with triggers involving child abuse of any kind please be aware. The story is one of bravery and healing.
This story was tough, emotionally, to get through. The writing is amazing, powerful and profound. A dark, amazing story of overcoming adversity and finding love and acceptance.
Loved this story from Patrick’s perspective. It's interesting to see what was going through his mind during his tourment and ultimately his rescue. Cole has left us again on Edge waiting for the next instalment....
After reading Dragon I figured that this one will be a tough on…. Patrick’s story was heartbreaking in every way. Cole’s writing is so unique. The only time I could put down this book was to get a tissue because I was crying so hard. I love that the Ward’s took Patrick in and he was an equal part of the family from the beginning. But seriously Cole…. This ending and I have to wait like million month to read book 3…… loved this book so much and truly can’t wait for book 3
Book 2 Cole definitely knows how to draw you in the story right from the first chapter. And of course I devoured it in one friggin day. Now I'm impatiently waiting on book 3.
I loved book 1. But book 2 is from patricks POV. The sickening years of abuse he went is demented. Let gut churning demented. Years n years of this. From 7.. WTF. nope . Nup.
