In this book, we follow Fern Michelson, who is a senior in high school. She's been through so much in her short life and it leads to her having a secluded life, and she constantly experiences loneliness and heartache. Every day is a struggle for her and she works hard to make it through the day and to the next. A new guy named Boone Cooke comes to her school and she's shocked when he shows interest in her. She doesn't feel like she deserves it. The fact that he wants to get to know her also shocks her. As a result of her trauma from the life she's lived, she wants to think that he's sincere, but she doesn't think he is. This is the third school that Boone has attended in three years. He's a military child, his dad is a general in the Army. Due to the fact that he's constantly switching schools, Boone is getting used to being the new kid. He used to think that football was his purpose, but when he meets Fern, he finds a whole new purpose in her. This book was absolutely amazing! I'm a fan of young love stories and this one is probably my favorite one that I've read in a long time! I love that this is a story about the popular guy falling for the outcast. I grew up in a school where the popular kids didn't want to be associated with the outcasts because it would jeopardize their reputation. I was that kid that not even the outcasts wanted to be associated with, so I resonated with Fern greatly. Fern's character made me feel less alone and she's my new book bestie!

Fern is a senior who ran away from Foster Care.  She works hard to support herself and finish high school. Boone is a new kid at school, a star football player, who notices Fern right away. He notices for in a way nobody has ever noticed her before. Fern doesn't believe he's sincere, especially after the mean girl starts rumors.  Can Boone convince Fern that she is worthy of love and that he truly cares about her, or will Fern run from him? 

Michelle Rider packed a lot into this short, 139 page book.  I felt every emotion possible while reading it!

I felt for this poor girl! She went through so much!! I’m glad she found someone to love her!!! And I loved the sexy love sessions too!!
