The mission is impossible
Now Tate has to uncover a lethal conspiracy that stretches all the way from Germany through the United States and into the dark heart of the jungle in Myanmar. As the enemy hunt down the owners of military secrets that would make them indestructible, Tate must race to identify not only their next target, but the enemy themselves.

This is the 3rd in the explosive Jack Tate SAS thriller series, it can be read alone but re backstory and getting to know Jack Tate it’s also good to read ‘Total Fallout’ and ‘Total Blackout’ One again we have a real high octane, full on thriller where Jack is tasked with an almost impossible mission and the book follows him as he battles against cyber terrorists amongst others who dont just want to disrupt and cause choas but take over the world with the military sevrets they have, he faces many challenges and the book criss crosses from drama to drama, always tense and always placing the reader in the middle of the action This book needs a clear head as there are complex characters and situations but the odd minute to get things straight in your reading mind are well worth it as you enter this fast paced, dangerous and unforgiving world Love this series and the authors writing and also really like Jack and his unconventional at times ways A good read
A consistent and talented thriller writer. This one has slightly too many moving parts which does complicate the story and, perhaps, makes it harder work than previous novels. A cunning plot involving Korean agents may destabilise the world and British and American agents are chasing their tails linking stealth defensive technology to a cunning plan. The good guys chase down the bad guys, usually a step behind, can Brit agent and ex SAS operative Jack Tate work it all out in time? Tate is a slightly changed character here, a bit more angry than in previous books, and that felt illogical at times. But good to see the U.K. and US agencies working together, but overall the book doesn’t work as much as I would have hoped
I’ve been a fan of Jack Tate series for a while now and was looking forward to read the new instalment in this gripping thriller saga.
Once again, Alex Shaw proves he is one of my favourite authors for thrillers stories and I can’t recommend his books enough.
Jack Tate is on a mission to cease an upcoming war. The story takes us around the world through various countries and many killer scenes. The suspense builds up so much that I couldn’t even breath until we discovered who is behind these unexpected and unknown machinations that only have one target.
I’m really looking forward to see where the author takes us next because after this rollercoaster story, I’m not sure what Tate can overcome. But I’m here for the amazing creativity of the author and I think everyone should read his books.
🆓📖 Very grateful to the publisher for my review copy through NetGalley
Total Control is number three in the series featuring Jack Tate, an SAS officer on loan to a special unit at MI6. The plot is unusual and complicated as it concerns highly sophisticated technology and a plot to overthrow the leadership of North Korea. Jack is up against the most formidable opponent he has faced so far. The story is just this side of implausible. Jack’s skills are formidable, but they will be tested to the limit. I would not be surprised if it was made into an action movie. Jack is a believable character, a flawed human being, but he is good at what he does and determined to succeed at all costs. We get a little more backstory about his time in Iraq, where he first met his adversary Roe. While this would probably be fine as a standalone, I think you would get a better understanding of the main character and the plot if you read Total Blackout and Total Fallout first. I am looking forward to reading the next book in this highly entertaining series. Thanks to HQ Digital and NetGalley for a digital copy to review.
When a former terrorist appears after many years, Tate is sent to fetch him. Chalk this one up in the lose column. Who should surface but Roe, who fought along with Tate in Delta force. He didn't believe in no one left behind so he and Tate weren't exactly friends. His name is not really Roe and it turns out that, under the right scenario, he could become the leader of North Korea. The current leader happens to be in the way. How Jack comes out of this alive, is nothing short of astounding.
Jack Tate’s adventures are always a welcome read, I feel like I have grown close to Jack and love hearing of his thoughts of the world and his life outside the line of duty.
Alex Shaw’s latest addition combining project White Suit, a rogue North Korean agent and a new antagonist for Jack to face was to me the best formulated saga Jack has had to take on so far. Knowing not only was the world in peril by a ever growing North Korean regime, but by his rivalry with Roe.
Roe was as the story above was, the best antagonist Jack has had the displeasure of facing, he is like Jack a special forces operative from his American counterparts and also displays quick thinking and reflexes. This was a worthy adversary for him and I genuinely for the first time feared for Jack Tate’s life as he undertook his showdown with him.
Seeing a more human side to Jack outside of missions with friends, family and memories seems to have been expanded upon in this edition, seeing Jack in this light helped bridge an emotional gap I believe between the reader and the protagonist. I felt a connection to Jack when he referenced loneliness, joked with his friends and talked about his closeness with his brother.
All in all to me this was the best book so far Alex Shaw has given us of Jack Tate yet, the story and antagonists were superb.
My only complaint is there isn’t a new edition of Jack Tate’s adventures yet!
5/5 from me! A worthy read!

Jack Tate, MI6 operative and ex-SAS member, is off again, saving the world from an oblivious public, and we couldn’t be in safer hands. When a cyber terrorist surfaces after years in hiding, Jack and his handpicked team are sent to find him. But someone has found him first. And this is just the start of a chase that will test every one of his incredible skills for survival.
I’ve read several books in this series as well as one from the Aidan Snow series, and all are written with the same well thought out plots, fast paced and detailed, and they always leave me wanting the next book right away. Jack’s is a really good character, flawed, not always coming out on top but with grit and determination - just what you want from your leading characters. I like that the themes are always - sometimes scarily - plausible. The relationship between MI6 & CIA are also believable, as well as the ‘plausible deniability’ clause. Well worth a read. 4 1/2🌟
Enjoyed the series. The writers action and chase sequences kept me flipping pages just to see how they turned out. Tate is a sharp operator that also shows he’s vulnerable which puts some reality in the series.
So first thoughts it was ok just ,nothing to get excited about very average if that, as you can see not a fan . May not read the other two books at the moment have better books to read, so if your desperate read it, if not look for something better i will.
