Too Many Betrayals! Who Can Sarah Trust?

by Barbara Kelley

"Sarah Brown and the Betrayal" is Book 5 and the Final Chapter of the Sarah Brown series, written spectacularly by Audrey Walker. This book should have been "Sarah Brown and the Betrayals" because there were numerous betrays by different individuals toward Sarah, Government Constituents, and supposed loved ones. In my review of Book 1 of this series, I said I really liked Lieutenant Noah Peterson. I take all that back because of his many betrayals. He betrayed Detective Williams who died early in the series. He betrayed his own wife, Estelle and their child, by sleeping with Clarice, Detective Williams's wife. He betrayed Sarah with all of his lies and in trying to kill Sarah for the Brotherhood. Another betrayer was Sarah's friend, Amanda, who was in cahoots with Noah to undermine Sarah. However, her betrayal also cost her her life. Sarah's dead family from 15 years ago were betrayed a because they were members of the Brotherhood. Her aunt that was murdered after raising Sarah after her parents and brother were murdered was a betrayer, belonging to the Brotherhood. The Leader of the Brotherhood betrayed his constituents who had voted him into office. The only person she could trust was Lucas, who she thought was A high-tech computer nerd, but was, in fact, a good F.B.I. Agent who along with the Director of the F.B.I. was scouting Sarah for possibly working with them because she was so honest. I gave this book 5 big fat stars and sincerely hope the author continues the Sarah Brown series as a member of the F.B.I.

I received an advanced reader copy and have given my voluntary honest review.

Once again, Audrey Walker has written the thriller in the Sarah Brown series that puts you on the edge of your seat and leaves you there until the end. Sarah's former chief, Hackett is in jail due to his attachment to the evil murderous,Brotherhood and its leader, Chase Hernandez. Sarah and her partner, Lucas find out he has been brutally murdered in jail to keep his mouth shut. Still hiding from her corrupt department and her new crooked chief, Noah, in Lucas' well equipped bunker, she and Lucas contemplate what to do next. Sarah will not rest until the Brotherhood is taken down since they are responsible for a lot of bad things as well as the murder of her father, mother, brother and aunt. And of course they are after her. Heading out in Lucas' ugly souped up truck to visit her former partner's wife, Caprice only to be followed and shot at. Lucas reached under his seat and shot back and killed all the murderers causing an accident enabling Sarah and Lucas to get away and head back to the bunker. Sarah is stunned at Lucas' precise shooting ability and knows there's more to his story and can he be trusted? She is devastated, the person she turned to help her, the person she trusted does not seem to be the person she thought she knew. Who is Lucas exactly? Can she continue with him and trust him? What is his secret? Will he still help her get Hernandez and bring down the brotherhood and her crooked? What a great ending? You just can't miss this wonderful thrilling series! I received and ARC of this book but the opinions expressed here are strictly my own.

I received an ARC and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

This story begins with Sarah still at Lucas's apartment. They are still being hunted by members of the Brotherhood. Previously they had come across a briefcase that William had. After opening it they discovered a big surprise that William left for his wife and child. Shortly they left to go see William's wife, but they were followed by a group of Brotherhood members. They were able to foil the attack and retuned back to Lucas's apartment.

They later heard of a plot that Noah had tried to put in place with Sarah's friend Amanda. Amanda told Noah she was through. Things didn't work out well for Amanda. Sarah and Lucas also discovered information about a box the Brotherhood wanted. They had stolen the key earlier that would open it. Lucas and Sarah went back to her vacation home and retrieved it.

Lucas and Sarah learned later that a raid was planned on Henderson's mansion to arrest him. They raid took place, but the person they wanted wasn't there. Sarah after reviewing the tapes noticed something and brought it to Lucas's boss's attention.

To discover what Noah was involved in, who Lucas was, what Sarah's discovery led to then you need to read this book. The conclusion is unexpected.

Sarah Brown and the Betrayal - a review by Rosemary Kenny.

Sarah Brown series 1, by the brilliant Audrey Walker, reaches book 5 in Sarah Brown and the Betrayal, as the Detective and her FBI partner Lucas are stunned by the gruesome murder of Captain Hackett whilst behind bars.
Is the Brotherhood behind it?
A car chase and gun battle ensue, during which Lucas reveals something unexpected to Sarah.
Later, treachery and betrayal are overheard by the duo, as they're tapping the Department's phone...whom do they learn is in danger?

A major coup against the evil cult cuts off its members from their machinations against law and order and brings a new role for Sarah going forward, at the conclusion of this novel.

What a good book! It had all of the elements of an engaging thriller: fast paced, action packed and intrigue filled. Sarah Brown and her partner in investigation, Lucas, are on the trail of The Brotherhood, a corrupt and dangerous organization which has infiltrated the local police and other agencies. In addition, it is responsible for the deaths of Sarah's mother, father, brother and aunt. While investigating The Brotherhood, Sarah discovers a secret that Lucas has been keeping from her. Will it affect their partnership? Read this book and find out. I highly recommend it to other thriller readers. I received an ARC of this book, and the opinion expressed is strictly my own.

She's had to go rogue to survive but has she still been trusting the wrong people? Sarah Brown is a troubled detective caught in the spotlight of the Brotherhood.
Audrey Walker writes of personal and professional relationships which are often flawed through deceit and lies. Her writing reflects the fractured state of the world in which we live. She turns conflict and aggression into nail-biting thriller fiction. And her denouements are usually shocking, surprising and real cliffhangers. I can't wait to see what she writes next.

Sarah Brown and the Betrayal: A totally gripping female detective thriller Novella packed with mystery and suspense (Sarah Brown Series Book 5), my thirtieth read from author Audrey Walker. An 89-page page-turning read that I finished in just over an hour. “I received a free Kindle copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review." The gifting of this book did not affect my opinion of it. I look forward to reading more from this author. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).

Detective Sarah Brown is working with an FBI agent Lucas. He did not reveal he is from the FBI until the Brotherhood was chasing them in a car. They want to take down the head of the brotherhood and the corrupt police. They have to stay hidden to escape death since there are assassins after them. A thrilling conclusion to this novel.

Deception and Revelation

Sarah is in hiding as her life is in danger. Lucas has her back. Can she really trust him when she finds he is hiding something from her? Her colleagues in the police force and her friend have already betrayed her. A gripping finale with a lot of suspense and action. I found this book entertaining and absorbing.

Excellent, exciting conclusion to this five part series. Tension abounds in many areas such as her relationship with Lucas and her war with a powerful criminal organization.

I hated waiting so long for this book and wasted no time reading it. I hope we see more of Sarah Brown. I also hope she next appeas in a real novel rather than a series of novellas.

Exhilarating,

I loved the whole series.I had my doubts about if Sara was going to be able to stay alive. This was a very terrifying but very believable story. We need more like Sara and Lucas, that fight for what they know is the right thing to do.
Thank you for a really great job.

This was not as fast-paced as the previous books in this series, but it was a very good read nonetheless.
Revelations were made and new friendships forged, and the "baddies" were brought to heel.
I look forward to following Sarah and her new partner as she hones her skills in the new direction she has embarked on.

Ms. Walker has done a fabulous job of tying up loose ends in the last book of the series. The strong, smart, butt-kicking lady detective main character is a pleasure to follow.

The final chapters in the Sarah Brown series - and a fine conclusion it is. I will not, however, follow any more of these partial books - as a series on TV, you have to wait for the next chapters at times for months, and the expense is more than my budget will allow.
