Alessa Kelly is another new-to-me author. I just finished reading Protecting Her, which I loved, and am giving it 5 stars--I also just purchased the author's Fearless Lovers series, because I was that taken with her writing, her characters and their development, and how well-paced this novel was.

Protecting Her had everything I look for a good romantic suspense novel--a wounded/troubled hero, a smart and stronger than she realizes heroine in danger, some sweet and tender moments, some sexy ones too, lots of action and suspense, as well as some really heartbreaking yet heartwarming moments too, and a lovely HEA ending.

One caveat--there are triggers aplenty in this novel, which contains scenes of violence, cruelty, abduction, and the threat of gang rape, so if those are issues for you, I suggest reading something else. But, if you can handle the aforementioned, I think you'll find this as addicting a read and I did.

I really liked my time reading this book. The only reason I’m deducting a star is because Cal seems to almost force Sadie to make love to him after her ordeal when she keeps telling him she doesn’t feel ready. But then he wants to in case he dies when he has to do what he has to do with BJ. Overall, I will probably read more from this author, but that little bit rubbed me the wrong way. It seems to have been resolved later, but it was never explicitly acknowledged after the fact so it’s not abundantly clear.

Another great work by Alessa Kelly. This one is a little darker than her other books, but boy... it's a story that will stay with me for a long time. It takes the meaning of 'love and protection' to a whole new level. Callum and Sadie are as strong, and as vulnerable, as each other. A definite five-star read!

New to me author and I will definitely be reading from again.
Not what I was expecting, you know from the title he’s protecting Sadie from something but that something?? OMG!! Wasn’t expecting that.
Loved Callum and Sadie plus the secondary characters Jon and Yorkie.
Would 100% recommend.

I enjoyed reading Callum and Sadie's story which showed not only their attraction to each other but their devotion to what was best for Sadie's brother and their determination to beat the darker characters and save Macs life as well as their own.

What a captivating tale of attraction at first sight! Our hero, Cal, rescues Sadie from kidnapping, but danger still lurks. The chemistry between them is undeniable and his patience with her was heartwarming. I adored Mac, Sadie’s brother, and how Cal was around him. It’s a delightful novella.
