Savages… That’s what they are, and Johanna knows it. When the Vikings come to this new land, Johanna’s goal is to claim the land the minotaur live on for her clan, but they won’t give up without a fight. Unlucky for them, she is a hell of a fighter.
The humans are the enemy. Plain and simple. Always have been and always will be. They pillage the Earth, scorching every inch of land in their path, caring not for the creatures that call the land their home. When a ship arrives and a blonde-haired female appears before the fighters of the herd, Dornik, Gnudir, and Tusar have no choice but to kill the lass. Even if killing a female goes against their instincts, it must be done.
Can three savage beasts show a human what it means to be one with the forest, or will they find out the hard way that everything they believe about humans is true?

USA Today Bestselling author, Jewels Arthur, writes steamy paranormal/fantasy RH Romances, that often feature very sassy females. Much like herself. She lives in Central Illinois with her husband, daughter, thirteen-year-old kitty, and a pup named Eevee.
Swoons are her jam. She spends all her time watching TV/movies, reading books, and listening to music that makes her swoony. When she isn't doing that she is drooling over her fictional characters or making book-related graphics.
Jewels has thousands of story ideas always flowing through her brain and she can't wait to share them all with her readers. One thing is for sure, they will all feature steam, smut, and swoons.
This was an okay read, I love Jewels Arthur’s writing but this was a little bit of a disappointment compared to some of the earlier books of this series.
The potential was there, the writing and diction was there, but then it sort of fell flat for me. The ending also seemed a bit rushed?
Most of all I found the h: Joanna kind of disappointing —she let the men walk all over her? I usually have patience with heroines and give them a chance for character building, but she was just pitiful. I was waiting for her to have an epiphany and put the men in their place. She knew Callixso could not be trusted but did nothing to put him in his place other than to tell him off. Show me why the Jarl thought you were worthy to lead this expedition?!? I was vastly disappointed and was more fond of the men. Nothing wrong with a benevolent fmc but I thought the women in this series were supposed to be uninhibited villainesses. She was a captain but didn’t fit up to the standards.
And while the writing is well done, the story is lacking. Why are the men into the fmc? I guess since I wasn’t attracted to her personality I couldn’t understand why the men were?
The sex scene at the end felt so rushed? With no build up? I had been waiting the whole book for the Minotaur smut and was so disappointed. I’ve read better from this author. Also I needed more build up and relationship building between the men and the fmc , especially with this being a smaller harem. The ending was cute but I wanted more. Perhaps this was more suited to being a longer story.
Well that was definitely different. I don't think I have ever read a book with Minotaur's as part of the main characters harem. It was a good read and definitely something you will remember. I look forward to what comes next.
Definitely loving me some monsters. These minotaurs are big in every way. But are they the monsters or the humans trying to take what they want and push them off their lands? Johanna is a captain like her father was. But men seem to have no trust in her ability. “The fairer sex should never be allowed to” is the type of BS they believe. But Johanna has shown them time and again that she is quite capable of being the Captain. But she may not be ready for the minotaurs. The story moves pretty fast and does have some heat. I do love that we get a letter extra at the end.
Johanna is leading a ship of Vikings to plunder an island of its special ore, and subdue the monsters who already live there. She's the only woman who has been given a chance to lead and as such all eyes are on her, waiting to see if she'll succeed or fail. As a character, Johanna doesn't seem to have any idea how to lead a group of Viking men who feel like she is too tenderhearted to lead, because she's a woman. The trouble is that she IS tenderhearted. While most the Viking men would happily pillage and destroy everything native to this island, Johanna would like to leave the native Minotaur's in peace, even though at first she sees them as mere monstrous beasts. She has precious few allies on the crew, and has little more than some rallying words to make sure that her commands are followed. When Johanna must interact more closely with the Minotaur's, she mostly goes with the flow and even hurts herself, leaving me seeing her as more of a caring, clumsy character than the bad*ss female captain of the Vikings she was meant to be.
The Minotaur people and society are the saving factors in this book. I enjoyed that the Minotaur forms were quite different to humans. I liked the three male monsters, they were unique and strong characters. The relationships in the Minotaur village were interesting and well thought out.
Jewels Arthur publishes her 4th book in her stand alone Her Monstrous Desires series, with Hunted.
We immediately meet Captain Johanna, Viking daughter of her deceased captain father, as she is about to take on the island of minotaurs that killed her father. She holds a precarious position with her crew, as the only female, even though she grew up on ships with her father, after her mother’s passing.
The struggle to accomplish her goals of returning with the prized ore her community needs, is unbalanced when she starts having feelings for the minotaur chief and two more. The humid island is so different from her colder homeland. But that isn’t the only difference.
This book was not quite as clearly written as the others in the series. It is wonderful to see a female captain, flaws and all. Always fun to see Arthur’s monsters feel. As a reverse harem, the alphas, both male and female, were not as strong characters as in the past.
This was a good story that could be a fun read for monster loving fans.
Johanna is leading a group of Vikings to pillage a land full of monsters. She's seen as too nice to lead, and her first time leading puts all eyes on her. Including those of the monsters living on the island.
I love the author's writing and the monster romances they have produced. Johanna and her monsters have intense chemistry that is loaded with steam. I liked the Johanna was working to prove herself and not just given everything right off the bat.
The book felt very rushed, as if the author was trying to shove a massive story in the shortest amount of time. The ending was rushed and didn't really give me any closure for the story. I still had some questions and would've liked to have gotten answers for them. The steam is also rushed and I would've liked that to at least play out a little slower so I can enjoy the romance aspect of the story.
Whole lot of 5 stars for a book that feels so incomplete. I typically love this author's stuff. But this time....
The FMC and her harem don't do much of ANYTHING together for 80% of the book then suddenly it's a "2 weeks later" we get a single sex scene and then immediately we get a "3 years later" with an epilogue with kids. It was like the author was writing what would be a full-length book and then realized "Oh I'm bored of this let me just toss in a quickie and an epilogue and be done with it". We missed absolutely everything that involved the harem getting to know the FMC, their first time together, and their dynamic together.
I'd like to say I've been able to rely on this author for some good monster smut but not this time. Was a total waste of like the whole hour it took to read this incomplete mess.
“I’ve mix feelings about this new addition to the monster romance series. Was it good? Yeah, of course but nothing so fascinating. This book felt completely different from the previous ones and left me with a sense of lacking. For instance, Joanna started like every FMC… clueless, kind of like a lost kid but as the story develop, they grow up but this time I was left with the feeling that she ended up as a clueless teenager that couldn’t concentrate on anything aside from having ‘them’ ins**e her. BUT here comes the huge but, there wasn’t THAT much spice compared to the previous ones. I wasn’t ready for having lost of steam to one plain moment and then the happily ever after. Come on!! Anyway, why the 4 stars? Because despite of all, it was entertaining but not at storyline I could love.”
This novel was a really nice, little bit spicey read. It is multiple POV, reverse harem, and paranormal. The main female character, Johanna, is captain of a ship going to the island of Kos. It's the island where her father, Captain John Smith, died. Kos is full of resources that her people need.
The one main problem, the minotaur population. Well, and the fact that most of her crew dislike a female being captain. Johanna has to fight tooth and nail to get respect but it only helps her with a handful of her crew.
I really liked the backbone & knowledge that she is shown to have. She is a syring character who wants to ask questions before just going off half cooked and killing living beings. This book was really fun and a fast read.
So I really liked this story by this amazing author. She has done a great job in writing a story that catches your attention in this book. It is the 4th in a stand alone monster series and what's not to love about monsters. Though the minotaurs aren't really the monsters we think they are. Johanna is about to find it out for herself as she embarks on a mission to the island filled with them. I enjoyed the story overal and would recommend. There's some smut that I love and a good story. I do wish the caracters were a little more developed but this is a shorter book so I give it the benefit as the story is set at a faster pace.
Johanna (FMC) is the Captain of a crew of men that dont really respect her because shes a woman. Even less when they are given a mission to an island inhabited with Minotaur's. Only whilst shes there it becomes less obvious who the beasts are?
Wanted was a quick read or at least i breezed through it in one afternoon i read it that fast. I liked Johanna but it felt she gave her crew way too much leeway and should have knocked some of their heads together. I also liked relationship with the Minotaur's - Dornik, Tusar and Gnudir though. Even with distrust on both sides i found it kinda sweet. A good read with characters i really liked
This is book four of her monster romance. A slow burn story and not your typical smutty read. With Johanna as the main character and the caption of her crew. I loved Johanna bold and outspoken nature as she has to deal with men thinking there better than her. Landing on a island full of minotaurs while on a mission. I loved the suspense, betrayal and the emotional journey that this story took. Three minotaurs that will do anything in their power to keep Johanna safe. There's just some unfinished questions leading towards the end for me but I did think it had a sweet ending with the little Jonathan and a sexy seen towards the end. But come on jewels we need more minotaurs action.
I enjoyed this book. This is my 1st book by the author. I will check out her other work. This is a monster RH romance. One of my favorite things to read. This one has Minotaurs as the monster love interest. I haven’t read many with Minotaurs in the story. This is also a standalone. I don’t mind reading them. The story is not to long or not to short. Everything flows nicely. You aren’t left with questions. Everything is wrapped up nicely at the end. Check this book out to find out how Johanna ends up on an island with Minotaurs.
Johanna is a captain of her ship just like her father was. Her men seem to have no trust in her ability and make no qualm over letting her know that a captain’s life as well as a sailors should be a man’s. This is a great monstrous romance with a few twists and turns and a few surprises along the way yet is still a dark reverse harem read! The story moves fast and does have some heat. And I especially love that we get a letter extra at the end
Okay, first off Jewels is a rock star! I dig her writing style and her quirky sense of humor, and her books always have the best smexy times and men. All that being said, this book didn't have a storyline that I loved. The writing was as great as usual, and smexy as great as usual, but I had a hard time finding a connection to Johanna and caring for her enough to want to journey with her though her world. This was probably just a me issue. If nothing else, read this book for the smexy times!
This is a great monstrous romance with a few twists! In this we meet Johanna as she embarks to take over the island of the Minotaurs. She’s a kick ass female captain whose crew are not too sure about her leadership band it’s one hell of an adventure. Twists and turns and a few surprises along the way makes this a fun yet dark reverse harem read!
Johana, our FMC is a captain, but nobody gives her credit because... Well She is a woman! Also She is benevolent só it doesn't really help her case. But She does her job and they get to the Minotauros and wow, they are big, really big and you know what? I think She can handle it! Very interesting Monster book by the amazing Jewels Arthur.
Johanna embarks to take over the island of the Minotaurs that killed her father. She is the only female captain on of her crew. Johanna starts to get feelings for the cheif and 2 others on the island Dornick, Tusar and Gnudir. This book is different from the others in the series and does seem a bit rushed but is still a great book. And we'll worth the read.
Johanna is a captain on her way to a new land. She is following in her father’s footsteps. Her crew doesn’t see her as capable captain due to her gender. When they land she discovers the “savages”. It is a great telling and build up for the relationships and it’s hot, and steamy!
Johanna is a Viking captain wanting to explore this land of minotaurs. They are savage beasts. She'll do what she can for her clan. Dornik, Gnudir, and Tusar need to protect the herd from the invading humans. They must be willing to do whatever it takes, including harming the female captain. It's against their instincts to do so. What will they do?
Who can resist a mate bond, even if it is with monsters? Johanna tries to lead her team of humans to find some magical ore but the Minotaurs living on the island where it is fpund have other ideas. I loved how Johanna and her Minotaurs could overlook the past conflict between their societies and still build their own relationship.
Jewels gives us another wonderful standalone book in Her Monstrous Desires series. Johanna comes to the home of the minotaurs and their journey continues from there. Well written with complex characters and plot twists, this book keeps you turning pages throughout. I enjoyed reading this book and highly recommend it. Don't miss out on this book!!
A different take on an FMC from Jewels. Johanna is the only female captain leading an exploration for both retrieval and to subdue the residents of the planet.
She struggles to gain the respect of the men on the ship and live up to the reputation of her father. Once she meets the Minotaurs her ideas of them change then get ready for the steam!
This book was fast paced everything seemed to happen so quickly and was a little disappointed when it ended but out of the books in the series this was not my favorite but I suggest you give it a read and decide for yourself. The first book in the series will always be my favorite.
Very good stand-alone story. Good world building and character development. Plenty of action and steam. This is well done story with an interesting FMC and lovely monster love. Monsters might not be your typical favorite read but definitely give this one a go. Highly recommended.
This was a quick stand-alone adventure. I wish it was longer! I enjoyed your world building but would've loved even more! This was not quite as romance heavy as some of the other books in this series but I enjoyed the story.
Just loved this book! The world bulging was great ! The characters and there personalities awesome! Who would have thought a human like Joanna could mate with Minotaurs. You will not be disappointed with this juicy little gem, I know I wasn’t.
Captain Johanna is sailing to Koa to avenge her father’s death … but will the monsters (namely Dornik, Tusar, and Gnudir) be able to find a place in her heart or do they live up to her preconceived notions of destruction
