This author has the magical power of giving us suspenseful and super hot stories that keep me on the edge of my seat from beginning to end.
Fast paced, and exciting this is Lyra and Reid’s story.
Lyra is a genius computer geek,but her obsession digging into the unknown bowels of the dark web have her way over her head. So much so that she becomes a victim of the dark web and in dire need of the Guardian Protectors services.
A job for ex navy seal Reid leads into something he never expected. Opposites insta attraction is just for starters. From their insta attraction, to their snarky humorous banter, the twists and turn surrounding this mission kept me on my toes.
Although the ending felt rushed I totally enjoyed how their story evolved and developed.

Lyra's Protector (Guardian Hostage Rescue Specialists: Personal Protection Specialists #2) by Ellie Masters . Once again Elle Masters pulls her readers in with her in-depth storyline and cast of characters. This story is full of suspense, action, murder, mayhem and romance when Reid and his partner Brett newest members of the Guardian HRS encounter Lyra by chance. Lyra is a computer geek and hacker who finds herself in trouble when she dove into the dark web and learned vile secrets she had no business of knowing, now she has unsavory people after her when her apartment is set on fire. Trying to stay alive, she finds herself at a café on her computer trying to reach out to her mentor Tex needing his help. As she is trying to avoid being noticed, she sees two handsome alpha men come into the café ordering coffee when she encounters Reid who is instantly drawn to her and strikes up a conversation. As they are talking he hears her SOS signal and goes on high alert when all at once a hitman enters the café trying to kill her, but Reid and Brett intervene and eliminate the assailant. Once Lyra is comforted by Reid , she is anxious to get away telling him she is in danger but won't tell him why other than she found out things she shouldn't have. As Lyra doesn't trust anyone she leaves Reid promising to contact him but in her haste, she leaves her laptop and to go bag behind. Reid can't stop thinking of her and when he returns to HRS he mentions to Mitzy about Lyra and shows her the laptop and tells her she is a hacker in trouble. When Mitzy informs him not to touch anything on the laptop as it might compromise the Guardians she tells him that he will have to wait for her to contact him as she will want her computer. Days go by with no word from her and Reid is left wondering where she could have gone and is she safe. Lyra finds herself on the run trying to get to Tex ends up at a truck stop where she is placed in a dangerous position when she has to fight off two men who are trying to rape her but with her strong will to survive, she ends up killing both of them. In shock, she calls Reid for help telling him what she did before she blacks out, with Mitzy's help they are able to get her location and Reid and Brett are on their way to get her. Now Lyra learns that Reid is her Protector as a Personal Protection Specialist.
So many twists and turns in this story as Reid and Brett in order to protect Lyra will be travelling together on the road to bring her back to Forest and Mitzy. With instructions to get to the safehouse, the more these two are together the sexual connection between these two is intense and at times full of witty, sexy humor. Can Lyra control her impulsive behavior and allow Reid to keep her safe? Lyra now knows she has to trust Reid as she is attracted to him but can't understand why he is refusing her advances. Reid who will follow protocol to the letter, denies giving into his feelings as he tells Lyra that have to wait until she is safe. Now we have a car chase as men have found them, the threat is ended but not before Reid and Brett are injured. Reaching out to Sky for help he is told to get to the cabin where the others will be waiting. So much drama and suspense as well a a whole lot of computer lingo, we get a better understanding of what Lyra has gotten herself into. Now Forest who is amazed with Lyra's talent while working with her, offers her to be apart of the team. Elated to be offered this opportunity, Lyra realizes that Forest and his team members are family, something she has always wanted. Reid and Lyra now embrace the intense love that is between them full of overwhelming passion and desire as they can't get enough of each other, but before she will fully commit she tells Reid she needs to find these men and make them pay. Now we have Forest, Mitzy and the other team members intrigued with this talented hacker as she has cracked the code and has gotten the information they need as they now have 31 days to shut this operation down. Can't wait for the next book in this suspenseful series to see how the Guardians will plan their mission to take out this syndicate.

I just don't know how Ellie Masters does this, yet another one that she has absolutely knocked out of this world and left me gasping for more. Without doubt, my feelings when I got to the end of this book were so overwhemling, wanting this book to continue, needing to see where this storylines moves onto and then ends, that words fail me to truely convey what this book and series does to the reader.
Lyra's protector is another arm of the Guardian Hostage Rescue Specialists. Reid, a personal protection specialist first meets Lyra in a coffee shop. Lyra is a computer hacker, who has managed to bring herself to the attention of some very unsavoury people. People who are guilty of the worst crimes against women and children, and now they are coming after Lyra intent on killing her. When their first attempt at taking her life fails, they try a second time, but Reid along with Brett (another Guardian protector) save her life. Lyra does the only thing she knows how to do, run !!
When Lyra finds herself in yet another compromising position she calls on Reid to assist. What follows is an action packed, intense, scalding hot, heart racing story which I can guarentee will have you turning the pages. The chemistry between Reid and Lyra is off the charts (I have zero idea how he kept his hands off her as long as he did), you get more than a few heart stopping moments and you also get more of Forest, Sky and some of team from earlier books. There's a lot of technical dialogue, especially with Lyra, Forest & Mitzy, which sounds very off putting but is very succinctly translated in a way all can understand. Brilliant read, i just can't wait for more.

This book left me on the edge of my seat and eyes glued to the pages. Lyra may be a genius on the computer, but her impulsive, reckless and daring attitude gets her into trouble she almost doesn’t survive. Her pride in her own capabilities is both a blessing and a curse. Her impulsiveness led her into finding something on the web she was never meant to see and now she has a target on her back. Meeting Reid and his partner at a coffee shop after the first attempt on her life was fortuitous since Reid is able to protect her during the second attempt. Fear and past experience tells her not to trust him and rather than make contact with him as he asked her to do, Lyra runs. Only after her flight puts her into another horrific situation does she finally contact Reid. His rescue and protection is timely and much needed because someone is still hunting for her.

engrossing
I didn’t want to put this book down and was so disappointed when it finished
Also…it’s wrong isn’t it to get all het up over a kissing scene….except that truck stop kissing scene is just amazing. Totally put Reid into my top tier of book boyfriends.
I love the interplay between Reid and Lyra, how they met and the whole dynamic of their relationship.
Despite knowing, and Lyra admitting, the position she finds herself in is of her own making Reid never seems to take over and discount Lyra. He totally appreciates her skills and the “why” of what she has done and he schools and guides her gently into making better choices going forwards.
I loved that she had a zone and how she blew everyone away with her skills. She totally does it for all the geek girls out there and with such panache too.
The way she gives herself over to Reid and he lets her be herself whilst gently surrounding her with his protection and not stifling her at all is just swoon-worthy
The storyline underneath this, the team interplay and the relationship between Lyra and Reid are all so well interwoven in this book. A great extension to the wider series arcs I loved this book and I adored Tex in this book too (I fangirl every Stoker crossover book hard!!).

This is book two in The Guardian Hostage Rescue Specialists : Personal Protection Specialists Series and it is Lyra and Reid's story and omg it is definitely a must read. Lyra is a hacker but when she goes where she shouldn't her life is compromised she goes to the coffee shop to use her laptop to send a sis message of help only a gunman enters trying to kill Lyra but it is read that saves her life and gets her to safety but Lyra trusts no one and does what she is good at and that is run. Reid is sat at the table in the coffee shop watching the woman opposite him tap out more code on the table and knows that she is in trouble and needs help but all help breaks loose and he does what he is good at and that is rescue people only for Lyra to disappear of the face of the earth. When Lyra gets herself into a terrible situation she call Reid for help and that starts there story. There are twists and turns along with danger, suspense, murder, action, hope and some emotional and distressing situations that have you in tears. The connection and chemistry between Lyra and Reid was so instant, strong and intense right from the beginning and you could feel it sizzling off the pages when ever they were near each other and I couldn't put this book down as it was so addictive and kept you on the edge of your seat and turning the pages wondering what would happen next. I loved how protective Reid was of Lyra and they go through so much together and I love Lyra's reaction when she meets Forest and how awestruck she was but still stood her ground on what she needed to do to help bring down the bad guys. Ellie Masters is an amazing author and writer and she certainly knows how to keep her reader's attention and the depth of her story's are what makes you go back time and time again to read her book's and I can't wait to read more.

As this is the second book in the series, you don't have to read the prior one to fully understand and enjoy this one.
This story in told in a dual POV format. Getting into a character's thoughts really help me to better understand and connect with both of the characters.
What a gripping web of intrigue going on here. Some of the information regarding the internet maybe fiction or fact, I'm not that smart to even try and go there but man it made for a VERY chilling angle. Every time Lyra would start to describe what she did for someone to put a hit on her, well my heart was just beating like a drum. I would get the chills. This book was such a thrill ride of suspense, mystery and intrigue.
I loved Reid. The perfect alpha male hero of most women's dreams. He struggles with his attraction to Lyra. He is her Protector but even from the first, you could tell he was really attracted to her. Lyra on the other hand really frustrated me. She doesn't trust anyone so her answers to questions can be vague at times. She is attracted to Reid but shortly after she foiled an attempt to assault her, she is trying to entice Reid in a romp between the sheet with just 5 minutes before the second Protector joins them. That was a little unbelievable.
The assault scene may trigger a reaction for some and I applaud the author for the word of warning in the book’s synopsis.

This book! Lyra and Reid together are combustible!
Lyra (not her real name but we don't actually learn what it is) is a hacker. When she stumbles across a site she shouldn't she finds her life in danger. The first attempt happens when her apartment is set on fire. Right after that a second attempt occurs at a coffee shop where Protectors Reid and Brett are innocently just trying to get coffee. Reid is able to get Lyra to safety while Brett secures the gunman. There is something there between Reid and Lyra that goes beyond just saving her life but she doesn't have time to pursue it. Reid gives Lyra his contact information with the intent of getting her personal belongings returned from the coffee shop they had to quickly exit.
Lyra, however goes on the run which proves to be deadly for another reason. Lyra and Reid are reunited when she calls for help while on the run and the adventure begins with Reid becoming her Protector.
There's a lot to this book and I refuse to divulge any spoilers but rest assured this book is action packed. This is the second Protector book in the series and while it can be read as a stand alone the story and characters go way beyond this series. I absolutely loved this book and you can see how the storyline is being set up for future books.

What a tremendously exciting read with great characters in Lyra and Reid taking the lead romantic couple in this second book of the Guardian Hostage Rescue Specialists series. Definitely needing to read the first one now to see which captivating couple was mentioned. But this is still very much a standalone story.
Lyra is such an interesting character, she is both intelligently and street smart but has a degree of curiosity that very well gets her into some very deep trouble, where by pure luck Reid Sawyer and his partner Brett newest members of the Guardian HRS come into action, along with the assistance of the rest of the company.
Fantastic plot balance filled with drama, romance, sexual tension and chemistry abound between Lyra and Reid, action ( triggers of violence in regards to a particular cafe scene), conspiracy and mystery with just enough light humour and sass coming from both Lyra and Reid to keep things light at times. The story was well written with the plot flowing well and great explanations regarding the plot subject surrounding the whole worldwide net construction, true or not it made me think about the whole power behind it and its play upon modern day society. But more than anything I love the concept of the Guardian Protectors wanting to help those in need.

Lyra's Protector was another thrilling adventure from The Guardian Hostage Rescue Specialists. As with all the books in this series there's plenty of danger, action and sizzling attraction.
Lyra and Reid meet under intense circumstances, Lyra has landed herself in deep trouble and she needs help. The problem is she doesn't trust anyone, so when a mysterious stranger saves her life she finds it hard to trust him, so she does what she does best and runs.
Reid is no stranger to protecting those in need so when a woman needs his help he steps into protector mode instantly and saves her life but before he find out more about her she's gone. I loved Reid straight away he's Alpha male through and through.
Reid can't stop thinking about Lyra and he knows it's more than just his protective instincts. So when Lyra gets in touch he makes it his mission to find out what she's hiding and who wants her dead.
I loved the chemistry between Reid and Lyra even when faced with danger their attraction keeps growing until they can't outrun either one. Reid does his best to keep to protocol but he's fighting a losing battle. I really enjoyed the witty banter between them, all the sizzling naughty promises and dirty innuendos only added to their growing connection. I loved them together and I hope to see more from them both in future stories.
I'm already missing them and looking forward to more from the Guardian Protectors.

Reid is no stranger to protecting those in need so when a woman needs his help he steps into protector mode instantly and saves her life but before he find out more about her she's gone. I loved Reid straight away he's Alpha male through and through.
Reid can't stop thinking about Lyra and he knows it's more than just his protective instincts. So when Lyra gets in touch he makes it his mission to find out what she's hiding and who wants her dead.
I loved the chemistry between Reid and Lyra even when faced with danger their attraction keeps growing until they can't outrun either one. Reid does his best to keep to protocol but he's fighting a losing battle. I really enjoyed the witty banter between them, all the sizzling naughty promises and dirty innuendos only added to their growing connection. I loved them together and I hope to see more from them both in future stories.
I'm already missing them and looking forward to more from the Guardian Protectors.

Exceptional!
I have love the Guardian Hostage Rescue and Protectors since Forrest began them for Skye!
But, Ms.Masters, this book blew me out of the water!
So much of Lyra's character made me think of Forrest when he and Skye were young. It was her lifeline, just as it was Forrest's. However, where Forrest used his skills and abilities to provide for Skye and himself, and particularly to protect and keep Skye safe, Lyra has been driven by ego since a young child.
Now, this is where the story begins, Lyra's ego finally catches up with her! And it's affect is deadly. Fortunately, Reid saves her life. But she runs...now she is truly in trouble...
Reid is a natural protector, but something about Lyra makes him not only with to protect but keep.
However, Lyra's trouble is major...Forrest offers her something she never wanted and she begins to see something different.
Now, I wish to not ruin an amazing novel by Ms. Masters, please read!

I loved this. I'll repeat: I LOVED this! I did not put it down after I started & have zero regrets about the lost sleep.
It grabbed my attention immediately and barreled along with little down time. Well, if steamy smexy interludes count as down time? No, not to me.
Lyra's personal & emotional growth throughout the books was wonderful to see. And Reid wasn't just a big gruff former military bodyguard/Protector. The way he totally falls for Lyra was sublime. More. I need MORE!
My one complaint? Do they get the bad guys?!?! I hope there us going to be another book, because I *need* to know! (NOTE: It is NOT a cliffhanger, but it definitely leaves room for more - like movies do.)
If you like action, suspense, some surprise & steaming hot passion, I totally recommend this. You won't regret it. Ellie Masters is a 1-click author for me. (Jet Masters too!).

Mind blown. What a scary and romantic book.
Scary because how 1 person out if 7 in charge of ICAAN is very dangerous and involved with something so disturbing.
Lyra finds the info and barely escsapes her burning townhouse, that was purposely set on fire. Then she is on the run from killers. It us amazing how she leaves no digital footprint.
She goes to the right place at the right time and is saved by Reid.
But does not meet or call him for her computer.
She calls him when she is in dire trouble.
Finally she is safe with the Guardians.
Reid and Lyra's attraction is so hot and they grow closer. But when Reid talks about the future she is not sure because she never had a serious relationship.
Will they ever find who sent the kilkers after her?
I can not wait to find out.
It is great to learn more about past characters especially Brett and Forest.

Ellie Masters never disappoints and certainly has not with Lyra and Reid's story. "Lyra" is a hacker, but when she stumbles across a site she shouldn't, her life in danger. Several attempts are made to silence her permanently and at the second attempt, Reid and his partner Brett, both Personal Protection Specialists, save her. Reid gives Lyra his number to help her get her belongings retuned after the incident. But soon she calls him for help. They run together and as they try to find who's after her, they grow closer. The book is fast paced, has well developed characters, sizzle, steam, action, drama, twist, and some great turns. The series Guardian Hostage Rescue Specialists is available on Kindle Unlimited and are all great reads.

I loved this book! I started reading and I didn't put the book down until I read the last page, which was way too late. LOL Anyways, I was totally intrigued by the story and I cried when the bad stuff happens. This author always makes me feel stuff I really don't want to. Awesome story from an awesome author.
Lyra is a prodigy (savant?) with computers. The story starts when Lyra goes to a friend who is holding a laptop for her. Reid and Brett show up to get coffee. They are Guardian Protectors, but Lyra doesn't know that when Reid saves her from a shooter. She is scared enough that she leaves without her laptop. As she runs, she just gets herself in more trouble. When Reid and his organization comes to save her, she goes with them to help find the bad guys and get herself out of trouble.
I highly recommend this book and I can't wait for the next story. Write quickly, please! I received an advance copy of this book and this is my honest review.

The more I read Ellie Masters' books... the more I love her! Buckle up, because she's delivered an intense masterpiece! Lyra is a hacker and has garnered the attention of some people you really don't want to attention from. The first attempt on her life fails... the second attempt is foiled by none other than Reid (and Brett).... the hits keeps coming Holy WOW! This is fast-paced story is chock-full of action, danger and suspense! Reid and Lyra's magnetic attraction sparks throughout... the pull they have is unreal. This one intense thrill ride!! I really liked this story and characters. I had no issue with the instalove, realizing this is a book and even IRL extraordinary circumstances make people do things they normally don't do. The mystery was good (although a bit drawn out), but as I got close to the end of the book I realized there was no way to wrap things up with how much "book" was left. And I was right, the book ended abruptly with no answers, even though we had a HFN with the MCs. No epilogue that showed what else was going to possibly happen left me feeling like I was missing the rest of the story.

I’m very aware of the divide between fact and fiction, but Ellie Masters not only intrigues with technological and computing potential beyond my wildest dreams, but she creates characters that feel real, and in whom there is a genuine sense of being invested. One such character is Forest, and I am worried about him – Ellie, he needs the best possible ending please! Forest isn’t the focus of this book though, and the characters that are, Lyra and Reid (unwittingly her protector!), are as vividly portrayed. Yes, there were times I’d have liked to smack sense into Lyra, but there wasn’t a moment that I felt I could take a break to do it. We need to know more; what is happening in the background, and what is happening to Forest? This is part of Susan Stoker’s Special Forces: Operation Alpha world, so expect some friends from that space too. There’s an HFN, but I’m personally on tenterhooks for the story to continue.

An action packed book with lots of hot steamy scenes. Lyra is a computer need that has abandonment issues. She's used to being overlooked and not noticed. She is a computer genius who falls down the wrong rabbit hole. Now it's Reid Sawyers job to become her protector and keep her out of harms way.
Ellie always writes an amazing action packed steamy book, she did it again with this book. This is a 5 star read. I can't wait to read her next one.

Modern-day heroes are right! When Reid went into a shop for coffee, he got more than he bargained for when a hitman attempted to kill his tablemate. That is where the adventure begins. This is an excellent romance and an amazing adventure. I love Lyra and Reid's story. I am happy to see Tex again.

Once again Ellie has taken us on a thrilling non stop ride that had me reading until the early hours of the morning every time I read her latest book it is my favourite and I don't think she can beat it and then she blows me out of the eater with her next offering and this was no different

Book 2 of Guardian Hostage Rescue Specialists: Personal Protection Specialists. This is a story for Lyra and Reid. Readers yes this first part has some dark parts but not to worry Lyra is tougher than even she knows and gets herself through it but Reid well come to save the day. I loved this book but the best part is when Lyra meets Reid’s boss and the one of the founder of the Guardians. Talk about fan crushing. I think she lost herself in the secret room. Lol if she did not have Reid to crave more I think she would have married that room. Ha. I loved the mystery and the secrets Lyra has and I loved the way she talks to the guys about the tech she learned. Talk about making you feel dumb fast. I loved how Reid first ties to help Lyra out after that second meeting ha just saying that might make him think of a better way to help her next time she has a nightmare. Even with the danger and uncertainty in this book you will still find time to laugh at these two.

Ellie Master knocks another one out of the gate with action from the start that only wants leaves you wanting more! In "Lyra's Protector" by Ellie Masters, we meet Lyra at a coffee shop picking up a laptop, she's in major trouble with what she's uncovered in the deep web and not knowing who to trust, she's reaching out to her internet contacts. When a hitman's shooting attempted is thwarted by the two former Navy Seals sitting near her she is stunned by the help but still doesn't know who to trust and leaves with Reid's number in her pocket. Later when things get darker (trigger warning) Lyra had no option but to call Reid and enter Personal Protection Specialist.
I loved the relationship between Reid and Lyra and the relationship between Brett and Reid. While parts were a bit dark, it is frankly what I expect from this author. The ending, I found to be appropriate to the characters.

Lyra is in trouble. Her home has just been burnt down and she knows it is because she has ventured into the deep web and found something she shouldn't have. While waiting for a response from the one person she trusts someone tries to kill her. She is protected by two men who are from Guardian Hostage and they are protectors. She agrees to meet Reid and exchanges details but she runs. While at a truck stop two men try to rape her and she defends herself by killing them. Realising she is in so deep she calls Reid who comes to rescue her and get her to a safe place. Their adventures are only just beginning. A beautifully well-written book that I had to read in one sitting, it was that good. I can't wait for the next one in the series.

This book was action packed from the first page! Lyra is curious about everything and dug deep into the way the internet works, ICANN and the seven keys. I learned many things about the internet while getting involved in this story. It was an intense read – in Lyra’s words “I followed one man down a very dark hole and found a cesspool of humanity at the bottom of that pile”. “I got sloppy, and this person tracked me back through my security protocols. I know why they want me dead, but as to who that may be? I have no idea”. There’s interaction with others members of the guardian hostage rescue teams as well as Forest & Skye – founders of the Guardians organization. The chemistry between Lyra & Reid is off the charts. We still don’t know who is trying to kill Lyra by the end of the book– but there’s a plan to figure it out! Loved this book – can’t wait to read the next one!
