One Winter in Door County

Rate this book
Monica Price is burnt out. Between the pressure from her father to follow the career path he’s laid out for her and the stresses from her job as a lawyer, she’s starting to let things slip through the cracks. It all comes to a head when a series of mistakes lead the partner’s of her firm to ask her to take a sabbatical.

If she wants to keep her father from finding out, she has to get out of town until she can go back to work.

Caleb Corcoran is struggling. He’s still recovering from injuries that led to his honorable discharge from the military and he’s about to launch his brand new bed-and-breakfast. Money’s tight with costly repairs adding up. When he gets a call about a long term rental, there’s no way he can say no.

What he doesn’t know is that it’s for Monica, the woman he hooked up with last spring and who’s enmeshed herself in their friend group.

It’s a win win for both of them right?

The only problem is, they can’t stand each other.

Thank you to Cecelia Conway and her team for providing the ARC for me to give my honest review.

I really, really enjoyed this book! I have not read the first four books in this series, so I just jumped into the middle of this world and liked it. I thought that the main characters both had depth and growth revealed throughout the story that added something special. I also wanted to say that I appreciated the Wisconsin references. I am from Iowa near the Wisconsin border, so when she referenced ordering the New Glarus cider on tap at the bar I giggled. I would order that too! If you enjoy forced proximity, enemies-to-lovers, romance books, this one is for you!

𝐎𝐧𝐞 𝐖𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐢𝐧 𝐃𝐨𝐨𝐫 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐲 is the fifth book in the Door County Dreams series by Cecelia Conway, featuring a steamy and emotional enemies to lovers romance for Caleb and Monica. She’s suffering from burn out from the stress of her extremely demanding attorney job and her over-bearing and controlling politician father. When she’s forced into an extended break, she turns to Caleb, who is renovating a bed-and-breakfast off the beaten path. They’ve sort of become adversaries since their one night stand last spring, but she needs a place to hide from her father and Caleb needs revenue to help with repairs. So it’s a win-win, right? Until the sparks start flying again, and all their emotional baggage starts to move in on their little getaway.

I really enjoyed this one. I can read about a wounded military veteran any day of the week and twice on Sunday!🥰 I LOVED that Caleb is taking ownership of his injuries, both physical and mental, and getting the various therapies that he needs. I was so proud of him! And Monica was suffering through her own emotional trauma as well by growing up under the thumb of such a controlling and powerful man. Watching her evolve and gain the strength to stand up for herself was a joy as well! The whole progression of their relationship was a pleasure to watch unfold. I love a good dose of enemies to lovers or Grumpy/sunshine, and they definitely had some spicy chemistry to keep things interesting. The world building of the series was top notch with a great group of friends that brought that found family vibe, which is exactly what Caleb and Monica needed. Give this book and series a chance!

I received an advanced review copy for free, and am leaving this review voluntarily.

This is Book Number 5 of Cecelia's Door County Series.

This was the first book I started with in this series and while there is a message in the Book itself to say each book is a standalone book, after reading this one I believe reading in order would be best as there's lots of little things that have happened are are explained BUT I think the previous books woild really expand on your understanding.

Anyway, this book was so cute, and I was Team Caleb and Monica from the moment I started reading!

The story follows the interesting relationship of this pair and how they essentially went from enemies to hookup and finally to Lovers.

The story is told from the perspective of Caleb and Monika but in 3rd person narrative, however this doesn't stop Cecelia from drawing you into the story.

Both Caleb and Monika are strong main characters but in their own right, and you really see their relationship (and themselves!) really develop during the story, which is absolutely lovely to see.

I really do love how Cecelia has written this story, and you can see the passion she holds for the characters.

This is a wholesome story and a lovely cosy read that takes on just the right speed.

I highly recommend this fabulous book - I'm off to read Book 1 - 4 in the series now!

Also, I love the importance of mental health that is highlighted throughout the book!

4.5 ⭐️ (Unlike storygraph you can’t be as accurate here)

This is the kind of small town romance I want.

I love that the MC has therapy. Representation matters and this is a great expansion to the Door County group.

Caleb and Monica… gosh. Their chemistry is palpable and just makes you crave more. The simmering spice that you can enjoy in almost every setting.

A standalone in an interconnecting series. For sure recommend for anyone wanting a cozy winter escape.

Cecelia writes with passion and you can tell in her characters.

I really loved this story. The Author has become a favorite of mine & I love her style of writing. Such a beautifully written story. This story can be read as a standalone but it is an interconnecting series. I really enjoyed the characters of Caleb and Monica. They will stay with me as the reader for awhile. If you enjoy reading small town Romance stories, this is a great one. This one also was a roller coaster of emotions which as the reader I was totally invested. Beautiful story.

A sweet story about an unlikely match. A disabled veteran with a ton of confidence issues and a head strong attorney and daughter of a politician. The perfectly imperfect ness of their relationship has me believing it would work.
