They say I’m crazy. (They’re not wrong.) I'm a criminal. An outcast. A dangerous fugitive capable of anything. They must be insane to send a female human bounty hunter after me. At half my size, and a fraction of my strength, she's like a lamb to the slaughter. When she tracks me down in my icy lair, I could easily leave her to the elements. But I take pity on her. I save her life. I make her mine. She becomes my sweet human pet, my companion in the wilderness. I used to be crazy. Now I'm crazy for her. And when my enemies try to hurt her? That's when I show them what psycho really means.
Amazon Top 100, USA Today bestselling, and #1 bestselling author in multiple Amazon categories, Loki Renard writes sizzling hot, occasionally dark and twisted stories of dominance, submission and discipline.
Words can't describe how much I loved this book! I have been in a reading slump for weeks and this yanked me right out of it! The banter was top tier, the leading lady had me cracking up, and the spice was giving what it needed to give! Just a perfect little read for when you need to be a couch potato.
To be totally honest, I am not quite sure what I just read or how to rate this. 😳😂
Like, the best way I can describe this is if you took the hilarious characters and dialogue in a kind of low-stakes fantasy (Think: That Time I Got Drunk and Saved a Demon) and mixed it with a dark, kind of dubcon romance.... and also make it aliens.. with prehensile ✨appendages✨.
I hope that makes sense. I might check out some of this authors other work to see what it's about 😆🤷🏻♀️
Here are some of the quotes I highlighted because they made me laugh out loud:
The cave has been decorated in what I consider to be a homey fashion. Skulls and bones decorate the walls. I have a pleasant chevron pattern of shins and thighs running up and over the doorway. It’s nice.
“If I was to find the male who put that expression on your face, I would turn him into a drying rack.”
This is why relationships are so hard. You rip one man’s spine out in front of a woman and it changes things.
“What do you want to do, Computer?” I change tack. “Do you want to forever be at the mercy of Reginald, ferrying people back and forth from their doom?” “I want to be a kitchen.” “What?”
I really liked the beginning of this book. I loved the banter between the Male lead and the heroine, I thought it was cleverly done and since I'm a sucker for murderous, psychopathic love interests, this book had me all giddy and excited for whats to come. Sadly, it wasn't as good as I hoped it to be. The sex was great and the chemistry was there (big bad dom alien and masochistic submissive dum heroine) but it lacked a little something. I knew what I was getting myself into when I picked up this book, it's a shortie with 80% smut for content, but... it wasn't very fun to read besides the few non-sexual interactions.
The heroine was fine in some parts but ridiculously stupid in others. I liked the fact that she had ADD and that she was the Male lead's polar opposite. But the way the author wrote her made her seem... too stupid? And far younger than her supposed age. She's in her 30s but acted like a teenager... it was a turn off to be honest.
I think the book could've been much better without the last 20%. I didn't really like the final smut scene. Scratch that. I didn't like it at all. I ended up skimming it because it felt so out of place and sudden.
This was all over the place. It started out pretty cute then got weird and even weirder.
Lyssa takes on a bounty to make some money, with no idea what she’s getting herself into. Manik is a killer but saves her unlike so many before and ends up keeping her as his pet.
Consensual sex occurs. But they never discuss him spanking her with a belt, he just does what he wants and tells himself she deserves it. She liked it though so I guess that makes up for it?
Lyssa started out such a badass and in the end was someone Manik could walk all over. Ugh.
The end is what threw me for a loop. I felt like that whole scene wasn’t necessary and just felt like something thrown in there to make it spicier. It honestly just made me think the worst of Manik and the other men. Just yikes.
3.75 stars. I’m now getting a feel for Loki Renard’s writing and it is very entertaining. Usually leaning towards the bizarre with offbeat humour, and a lot of steam. This book was good but I didn’t love it as much as Sold to the Alien. Parts seemed a little silly (highly entertaining but silly), as the screwball humour needed something deeper to balance it. I also wasn’t a fan of the plot line in the 3rd act, as didn’t seem to line up with how Manik described himself earlier on.
I actually liked the plot and their relationship but I think the book was too short, so everything happened way too soon with little detail, and I didn't enjoy the authors style of writing.
This was fun. There was heat, enjoyable banter, and a violent dominate male. Sounds like a winner to me.
Lyssa flees Earth when her fiance leaves her six days before their wedding to be with another woman. She sells her house and uses the money from that to buy a bounty hunter's license and a ship. Let's just say she was totally scammed and used as bait. But she doesn't know that until it's too late. She has taken on a bounty with a lot of zeros, and she really thinks she can pull this off.
Manik is said bounty. He is known for his countless murders and enjoyment of them. He even likes to eat his kills and keep their bones as decorations. He is currently holed up on an ice planet where he hopes to be able to stay hidden long enough for those who want him dead to be killed themselves or at least removed from power. Instead, he surprises even himself when he saves the life of a tiny human female sent to collect him.
As Manik has saved her life, he claims Lyssa's life as his. She belongs to him now and forever. And I did so love how she didn't fight him. Lyssa didn't just roll over and become a docile pet, but she does acknowledge that her staying alive really does depend on Manik. Of course it doesn't hurt that she is incredibly attracted to him and wants him to ravish her. She even thoroughly enjoys his punishments. I really did enjoy these two together...in every way. But of course there's gotta be at least a little drama and that happens when Lyssa witnesses Manik kill a couple people she thought had come to save her. It might have traumatized her a bit.
Manik is a very smart male and it doesn't take him long at all to figure out everything that was going on with Lyssa. It takes her a little longer to finally realize how she has been used, but it's obviously too late by then. More people show up to capture Manik and we also learn something really important about him and why his life has become what it is. Once Lyssa learns his history, she's determined to help him. Which goes down ridiculously easily and I'm not sure how I feel about that. But I did love his proclamations at the end to Lyssa. He may be a murderous alien psycho, but Lyssa now holds his heart. As he does hers.
She located him, but the weather conditions of the planet he’s been hiding on are unsafe for her ship to land on, so her ship attempted to shoot her down to the ground, but that didn’t go as planned. She is set on fire, and Manik goes to rescue her.
𝐼 𝒶𝓂 𝒶𝓁𝓌𝒶𝓎𝓈 𝒹𝓇!𝓅𝓅𝒾𝓃𝑔 𝒽𝒾𝓈 𝓈𝟥𝟥𝒹.
He takes her in and cares for her while she recovers, but now that he’s seen her body, he knows he can’t let her go and that she will be HIS forever.
𝒴𝑜𝓊 𝒶𝓇𝑒 𝒶𝓃 𝒾𝓃𝒸𝓇𝑒𝒹𝒾𝒷𝓁𝑒 𝒻--𝓀 𝓉𝑜𝓎.
She wants nothing to do with being his human pet. Things start to heat up between them, but Manik needs to protect her from his enemies, who are still trying to capture him.
I think this book just wasn't for me, like at all. I hated nearly everything about this. For me, Manix has no redeeming qualities, so all his big and small transgressions are just adding up and there is nothing on the other side of the scale. Yeah, he did save her, but the price she is paying for this is just to steep. I'm not able to see any way in which he could be redeemed enough to deserve a happy ending and I'm simply not willing to read about possible feelings of love/lust from the FMC to the MMC. Just no, stop it girl, get your shit together.
Maybe I'm simply not in the right state of mind to enjoy this right now, but nontheless it's at least waving an armys worth of red flags.
DNF - quit at 39% I don’t know, I don’t think this author is for me. Him fingering her & her getting turned on by it was hard enough to swallow, but I couldn’t get behind the sex scene that is practically a rape, or him spanking her then. It was a “go no further” situation for me at that point.
At my age (61), life is way too short & my time is too important to force myself to read a book I'm not enjoying, especially when there are so many other books out there waiting to be read.
Soo I’m having mixed feelings about this one. It was good, don’t get me wrong. I laughed out loud at a few things that happened in the book. However, I think I’m a little biased in my tropes. I love a very dominant male - in this, Manik did not disappoint. But I also love a headstrong, kicka** female. And Lyssa was just not there. She had a smart mouth and a stubborn streak, but I can’t say I’m a fan of her being so so so submissive. Like by the end ****PARTIAL SPOILER ALERT**** I was really hoping she would have gotten more of Manik’s respect and broken him down on a level that he stopped referring to her as his pet. And actually grew a better appreciation towards her as his woman. Especially considering what he actually is. In the beginning stages, I totally understand the power dynamics of their situationship. I just wish she could have upgraded her status from pet and f*k toy to something more substantial.
But she was totally cool with debasement, humiliation, and punishment. And if that’s the case, then she shoulda ceased all lippy retorts because that’s a bit contradictory to her otherwise complete submission. Idk; that disappointed me the most. Their relationship didn’t ever really evolve. It started off hot, for sure, and never stopped or developed. And what happened near the end really irked me…I expected something other than public humiliation. And I’m no prude by any means - please, give me all the smut. But damn. The girl was really a pet, first and foremost, to the end.
This was my first book by this author and, though I liked it, I’m hesitant to read other stuff if all the h’s are reduced to nothing more than a sentient sex doll with an idea or two.
Ok, of the three I have read, Ransom, Hostage and now Alien Psycho this was right up there with Ransom which was absolutely hilarious!
Alien Psycho was not as funny as Ransom, but it was an excellent story and I ended up loving Manik and Lyssa. Manik was a true monster and there were a couple of unsuspected plot twists that were interesting! It turns out that he really actually paid a lot of attention to what she told him and even though she was occasionally bratty they turned out to be the perfect couple. Each of them were exactly what the other needed.
It does have a public sex scene, but that seems to be the 'thing' in this series of standalone novels. Once you get past the initial one, and realize the purpose for it, you are not nearly as shocked by it. There does seem to be a reason for each one. It's not a reason that always makes sense at the time but if you actually read the book you figure it out.
The ending was really a great feel good ending! It was well-written, and the characters were insightful. Manik's point of view actually was very deep compared to most alpha-hole characters in this genre. I found it highly entertaining and thought provoking. Highly recommend.
Lyssa is a bounty hunter and is going for the big cash, Manik. Ok so she has only picked up 2 jobs but still that isn’t bad, right? When she finds where he is, she certainly didn’t expect to be on fire and freezing, oh did I mention that he now has HER. Manik isn’t going to be taken by any bounty hunter and a human at that. She seems soft and docile. He will make her his pet. This story isn’t how you think it is. Manik is a killer but not the way they have labelled him. And Lyssa has her own issues. She is dependent on her Computer (ship) and has had a bad break up. She has become destructive. Manik seems to be the only one that can see what she is doing and can help her. It seems they both have issues that need to be addressed. We find out who Manik truly is and Lyssa may be able to help. I have to say she is a bit scatterbrained at times. But she is funny. The take away from all this is that, you can’t run away from your problems. You have to face them and let the chips fall where they may.
I enjoyed it. Heroine is a bounty hounter (only her 3rd time trying to capture a bounty) so she goes after a very expensive bounty. She is almost killed entering the atmosphere so the hero saves her.
He tells her she is his now and he was bored waiting around for people to kill so she will entertain him. He also tells her he is a murderer but he does not want force women. Of course, she finds him attractive so they start a relationship.
He tells she she has to behave (or the weather on the planet will kill her) so she ends up with a shock collar so she doesn't try to escape again.
SPOILER PSOILER SPOILER SPOILER
Hero is an exiled king. He decides to take back his throne because his ex fiance is ruining the planet. So they have a public orgy where he has sex with heroine in front of everyone and then the other aliens start having sex with other aliens. Heroine liked it and says let's do it again soon.
I have mixed feelings on this book because the ending was SO lackluster. The disappointment is real. All of the leading up to him doing what he was going to do (don't want to spoil) and it was sooooooo quick. So simple. Like.... what? So much build up to something "crazy" only to be completely underwhelmed.
Also, how did we end up with THAT ending with the ladies? I am baffled. This line had me ROLLING...
"Manik is mentally impaling them on his massive prehensile cock."
Like, what? HAHAHAHAHA
It took me days to get through because it didn't keep my attention. I would read a chapter or two and go peruse social media because it was more interesting. There were parts that I liked a lot, mostly the sex, but not all of it was interesting either. It got repetitive.
Over all cute. Weird read that felt very repetitive and could have been shortened which would have helped the pacing. I won't read it again.
This was the weirdest book I've read of Loki's. Lyssa travels to an ice planet because there's a bounty for Manik. First of all she was con into being a bounty hunter and her reason of becoming one was stupid. Anyways, she nearly dies when she gets to the ice planet. Manik saves her and she becomes his "pet". Of course that's another word for sex toy🙄 their relationship is weird in my opinion. They have sex and banter back and forth. Eventually we find out that Manik used to be a king but was betrayed by his fiance. Lyssa helps him get his throne back and there's an orgy that takes place🙄😒 what I'm confused about is how Manik goes from being a bounty to a king. What happened to the warrants for his arrest? I probably missed it somewhere since I started to skim after lyssa spaceship commented that it would rather be a kitchen😬🤔😂 I can honestly say I didn't like this book very and i wasted my time reading it.
I struggled giving this stars because I adored the writing. If we were just talking about the writing then this would be a five star easily. The characters were hilarious, had good depth, incredibly written sex and a great connection between the characters. The worlds felt really real as well, with cute moments of quirky alien culture that i love. Whether i read more from Loki Renard is really not a debate, I've already downloaded more haha. My issue with this one is first that it didn't really feel like a true HEA to me, i felt like there was still an emotional barrier between them by the end, that they were still kind of just friends with benefits and hadn't pushed into full love yet. And my other gripe was the huge and very bizarre orgy at that end of the book. Put me right off something that had some fun plot. Other than that, it was a really good close-proximity romance with some funny moments and hot as hell sex. Will definitely be reading more from Loki
Lyssa , hurt, alone and directionless. She takes on the job of bounty hunter without any true knowledge with a subconscious desire to find a sense of justice and purpose. Her bounty is the scariest, killer in multiple kingdoms Manik. Manik is in exile he is totally guilty of all he has been accused of but there is definitely something more that we are not s are of . When Lyssa drops down to capture him he's astonished by her bravery or stupidity and lack of self preservation. He saves her and decides she will be his pet and so much more and she will also be punished if she endangers herself. They is action there is violence , punishment , connection and most of all acceptance! I really enjoyed this and I'm looking forward to more.💖💖🔥🔥💖💖🔥🔥💖💖🔥🔥💖💖🔥🔥💖🔥💖🔥💖🔥💖🔥💖🔥💖🔥
Who knew love could blossom in the middle of a cold, barren wasteland? I was captivated from the very beginning of this story. After Lyssa crash lands on the frozen planet she ventured to for a bounty, Manik, her bounty, saves her instead of killing her. He may be psychotic, but he’s fiercely protective and smoking hot. Reading this was like unwrapping all the best presents at once. Manik and Lyssa’s love story unfolds in the present while we slowly piece together their pasts. Each one was a gift. And they have more in common than they thought. As always, Loki Renard has created a fascinating universe with interesting characters and an engaging, unpredictable plot. This is yet another timeless, beautiful, well-written romance that made me feel all the things. Wonderfully done!
Strange. I’ve read dozens of alien romances and they’re always something I have to really open my mind up to because…aliens. There are going to be things that go against our social norms because their societies are so much different than ours. It was fast paced, not heavy on the action or suspense. A quick, easy, enjoyable read…until the end. I feel like his method for regaining loyalty of his subjects was waaaay out of left field. It’s like it was just thrown in there to push this from steamy and naughty to straight up erotica. Idk man. You had me until then. It was just weird and totally out of place. I did enjoy the banter between the characters and the H seemed intelligent and witty. Which is what made the ending soooo off kilter.
2.5 ⭐️ This was entertaining and a quick read. I don’t think I would necessarily consider it a dark romance though. It’s more light grey- though I may be in the minority that doesn’t consider a romance “dark” simply because it has BDSM elements to it.
The ending was strange. It didn’t fit with the rest of the story imo- it seemed rushed and the way he regains his power didn’t make any sense and didn’t feel like it was there for any reason other than to force another smutty scene in right at the end. I feel like it diminished the plot, not because of what it was, but because it didn’t flow with the rest of the book. The 🌶 scenes were repetitive. It was the same positions/methods/formula every time.
First time reading this author and although it had everything I’m looking for including a giant possessive alpha alien and some major steamy scenes, I just wasn’t loving it. I will definitely give this author another try because it appears they write a variety of styles/romances/erotica, including MM. Maybe it was just this particular story. I felt the sex was kind of bland and definitely a few weird twists to the story including a giant orgy. I think hero liked the heroine but there was a lot of treating her like a pet, including a collar, which can definitely be hot, but again, I just wasn’t feeling it. This might be a “me” problem so like I said, I’ll be giving this author another shot, hopefully with some better steamy scenes;)
Jeez, I can't remember the last time I read a book with alien dicks and been so *bored*. The characters were somehow flat and contradictory at the same time. Nothing about either of their actions at the beginning made sense and I just couldn't get past this big bad murder alien being nice and making casual talk with a random human he knows is there to arrest him because she amuses him or whatever. Not to mention this moment:
Manik: "I'm not gonna r*pe you cause I'm not that kind of monster." 15 minutes later, having no idea she wanted him: "Whoops guess I am cause you need to be punished for this random thing out of nowhere."
Like... Come on. 😒 DNF at some % I don't know because I already removed it from my library.
Alien Psycho (Possessive Protective Aci-Fi Alien Romance Series) by Loki Renard. I love a good sci-fi romance and this series has been waiting on my TBR for quite some time now, and as part of my reading challenge this year is to try to get through as many of my TBR as possible, coupled with the fact the fact that I had the entire series sitting, waiting- well it was a no brainer. #whodoesntloveagoodbingeread This is Manik and Lyssa’s story. He's a dreaded criminal outcast and she's a bounty hunter on a mission. What happens when he makes her his pet? Sci-fi romance with drama, angst, darker elements, possessive alpha male, challenges, twists, chemistry, steam, discipline elements, and more. Happy Reading…
He was a wickedly violent nice guy, lol, and I read this fun story in one go. The heroine, Lyssa, was super fun. Her whole vibe was a vibrant impulsivity that just invited chaos. The psycho monster knew how to manage her in ways that were amusing and possessive but then turned darkly sexual. They have the best relationship build-up that is full of witty banter and mutual enjoyment. I absolutely think everyone should read this story, it hits all the buttons. It has a good story/plot, it's well written, and focuses on two interesting characters who bring out the best in each other, oh yeah, and it is also full of beautifully detailed sex and violence, thankfully, completely unconnected!
I liked the beginning of the book but it went down hill from there. I didn’t like how dumb she was being. First she gets her heart broken so she goes on a mad dash into space and finds the first guy she meets and pays him money to do a job she has no experience in. She doesn’t have any survival skills or fighting skills which puts her at manik mercy. Second, there’s a difference between cute sexy alpha and just a mean character and that’s what manik is. I don’t like the way he talks to lyssa or the way he treats her. I would have liked for lyssa to me more strong minded and for manik to be more dominant than tyrant.
