After a disastrous love affair, Lord Gilleasbuig was content living a life outside of London’s spotlight until a series of accidents threatened to leave his estate without an heir. Lucky for him, he had a son he could claim and protect.
After all, how difficult could it be to fetch his estranged son from an orphanage with too many children to care for?
Except, the breathtaking Miss Sadie Fields, who had cared for the child since birth, was a force to be reckoned with. She was furious at Gill for shirking his duties but he was irresistibly drawn to her fire.
Determined to prove himself a good father and win Sadie’s trust, Gill offered her a chance to continue watching over her charge. When she agreed, Gill was eager to return to his boring secluded life, but danger continued to shadow him.
While dodging danger in an unconventional arrangement, a more permanent union risked disappointing his son and losing his last chance at love.

The Duke’s Lesson in Love. If you want a book that focuses primarily on two people who cherish and love the same thing, then you will love this book. I took a couple of hours to allow myself to get lost in this book where, passion, lust, desire, honor and duty drives a man to take a plunge into fate. Even their love story at the time was unconventional, Gail and Sadie didn’t care. I loved reading Sadie’s story of how she really took the time to really think and contemplate over important decisions. Gill played his character as a Duke magnificently. Oh my the man had the hots for Sadie and he was not ashamed to voice or show his feelings. I founds these moments to be the most entertaining fun in the book. I enjoyed the easy pace of the book. The dialogue and narrative of the story was simple, but easily understood. I enjoyed everything about the book and I eagerly look for more wonderful historical romance books from this author. I give this story two snaps and a twist. Until next time my fellow readers… read on!
This Recency in Color by Ms. Austin was a very enjoyable story. It is quite nice to uncovered a different piece of historical romance outside of the usual that is pleasant to read...love regency romances that bring a positive spin on finding love that surpasses ethnicity, class, bluestocking, etc. Recommend this story and series.
Lord Gilleasbuig Wilkinson Quinn, Duke of Montdale House is trying to secure his future by making amends for his past. The first step is to reclaim and legitimize his illegitimate son, Edwin. Sadie Meredith Fields is employed at an orphanage in London where she becomes a surrogate mother to Edwin. Due to conniving circumstances, the Duke and the caregiver come together to save Edwin and each other.
I received a free copy of this novelette from the author. I knew it was a Regency in Color romance which has become a hot subgenre in the historical romance arena. I instantly fell in love with Gill and Sadie. The flirtations and heated chemistry between them were beautiful and increased the flow burn. There was more narration than dialogue, but the narration contributed to the heated pull between Sadie and Gill. Edwin was adorable and was the perfect "splash of cold water" in intimate moments between Sadie and Gill. He was also a catalyst for the result of the relationship.
I did notice a few grammatical errors while reading. They did not detract from the story but were noticeable. The story started off slow but moved quickly during the last 50 pages.
Overall, it was a good story. I enjoyed the character interplay and found myself reading the 120-page novelette in one sitting. I will definitely be reading this author again.
This is my first book by Ms Austin, but it won't be my last. I quite enjoyed her writing style. She did a nice job of bringing the story and the characters and their feelings to life. This seems to be part of a series, Regency in Color, which peaked my interest even more and the book was definitely not disappointing. Gill is the Duke of Montdale House. He is looking to secure his future and that means he needs an heir. Luckily, he already has one of those and decides it's time to make amends and claim his illegitimate child. However, when be goes to the orphanage where his son is being cared for, he didn't expect to have to cross Sadie before having access to his son. She has been the one caring for him, and is loathe to let him go to the man that had failed to acknowledge him until now. She simply does not trust Gill. As furious as she is with him, he is that much drawn to her and sets out to prove to Sadie that he is and can be the father that Edwin needs. He offers her the opportunity to come with him and continue looking after Edwin. She accepts and from there their unconventional arrangement becomes one neither of them can live without. I really enjoyed this story and Gill and Sadie together were simply amazing. Such witty banter and sparkling chemistry between them! An entertaining read for sure, and I will certainly be looking for more by this author. I received a complimentary copy from StoryOrigin and am voluntarily leaving my review.
This was a lovely story between Gill and Sadie. It was sad that Gill had to deal with treacherous family members not to mention his parents.Gill was a very smart man and he knew he had to find the courage to be a father to his son. He had to open up his heart to Sadie emotionally to be a better man. Sadie opened up her heart to be an example of love. They found happiness within each other. Their attraction for each other was electrifying, super spicy and hot. Really enjoyed it. Thank you Ms Austin
Another fabulous Regency read from Austin. As always, her characters leap off the page at the reader and the story is fast-paced. This BWWM story includes a class difference romance, a single father trying to do the right thing for his son, the threat of an evil cousin, and a sassy caretaker that his son is attached to. This was a super fun read and I highly recommend it!
I have read several of Ms Austin’s contemporary stories but this one is the first historical/regency romance I have read. The book was everything I have come to expect from this author. Engaging characters and a plot with a believable journey to love and some conflict. Win-win.
I enjoy historical romance novels more than anything. This one did not disappoint at all. Filled with heartfelt compassion and some seriously steamy romance between these 2 love birds, this novel kept me entertained and excited!! Great writing! I'll look for more by Robecca Austin
I enjoyed the story. It is a quick read and left me wanting more. I would have loved to know more about the history of the characters. Why they came to be who they are. This was done best with Duke. I recommend you read, particularly if you enjoy short and sweet.
Brilliant book I enjoyed listening to this book via epub for sight impaired people. Sadie and Gill are perfect fit. I will be looking out for more books by this author. Well done 👏🏾
