First of all, can we talk about how absolutely gorgeous this cover is?!!! Yaaaaasssss!!!!! I loved this book! Unproblematic couples are my jam and Youme and Lo gave us nothing but love from the moment they met. What began as a one night stand ends up turning into forever. Even with their unexpected situation, Youme and Lo still managed to fall in love organically and find their HEA. Their love journey will tug at every single one of your heartstrings. I loved me some Charmaine! She is the mama we all deserve. Just don’t get on her bad side because, she will pull her belt out on you. LOL!!!. Hey, Lover was such a good book. The romance between Youme and Lo will melt your heart, the drama with Kevin and his baby mama will have you ready to throw hands, and the sex will have you clutchin’ your invisible pearls. This is an angst free urban romance you definitely want to add to your TBR.
This was a good @ss book that had me laughing throughout! The level of petty they had clowning each other definitely took this book up a notch! I felt like I was watching family roast each other at the cookout 🤣🤭 I loved Lo and Youme’s story. They met in the club after Youme’s departure from fkby Kevin and after a one night stand they were forever bonded. I loved how their love for each other was so easy and natural. Lo was definitely that n!gg@! Mama Charmaine and the whole crew was an amazing addition to the story! Bravo!
Youme, had to quickly get rid of that zero Kevin! Dude really, in her house? 🤬 Throwing caution to the wind Youme, let her locs down and had a good time, with a good looking stranger. Lo's interest was immediately peaked when he saw Youme, and had to see what was up with her. However, he was at a loss when he woke up alone, with a note! 🤣 Lo finding out that he would be connected to this woman that he knew nothing about was shocking, but he was also excited. These two bonded very quickly, and it was sweet to witness. Miss Charmaine cracked me up with her belt, but she had such a big heart! Loved having the Christianson/Washington clan make an appearance! You know it's going down when they are around! Good read! 👍👍👍
Youme was a certified go getter. She was ambitious and always kept multiple jobs. She had recently started a small cleaning business on the side and was excited about that becoming her main source of income. She was doing well, but her boyfriend was a wack as$ liability. Youme found out about his fboy crackish ways and made sure he exited stage left. She had been with him for years, so she really was hurt. Her friend Jemma decided to take her out for a night of fun, little did she know her life would forever be changed. That night she met Lo and boy did they have a time lol. Lo was a boss. Ambitious like Youme he had multiple businesses and ran empire. Youme left an impression on him, but he thought they would be nothing beyond that night. Until fate leads them back together and he realises they will be bonded forever. I enjoyed Lo and Youme, their unorthodox relationship was refreshing. They got to know each other out of order, but ended up building a special bond. Things with them were so good, but haters gone hate. They stayed down and went through adversity together. I liked how the author stressed the importance of healing properly through therapy and encouraged healthy conversations.
This was a short book, but it touched on so much in a short time. There were some grammatical errors; once corrected would help the book become more polished. Although I loved the book cover Youme had locs not braids and adjusting that would make more sense. It was definitely approaching 5 star status and is worth the read. I'd give it a solid 4.5.
This was a good read and a quick one. Youme and Lo complemented each other so well. I'm glad she found love again after dealing with her POS ex, Kevin. Speaking of, he got exactly what he deserved in the end. Lo did not play about Youme and his son and I was here for all of it. Nothing better than a man who comes with that pressure and keeps coming with it. His mom, Charmaine was a riot and the standout in the book. She was hilarious and always ready to get the belt for somebody. Lo and Youme had the best people around them. Their village was amazing. It's such a breath of fresh air reading a black romance where everybody's parents are great and they have amazing friends. There were some grammatical errors but overall this was a really good short read.
This book had my hooked. I love me some Youme and Lo. Youme is the type of female character I love, can relate to. She was handling her business and relying on herself regardless. Lo was the right one, he had handled his business too and oozed authority, had his own bag. From one night stand to being a family, Lo and Youme were meant for each other. I was invested from the beginning. This felt like a movie and I was tuned in to the very end. From main characters to secondary characters; Charmine and Jenna, were on point and drew into the story, into their life. A must read…yesss!
Youme was a go getter and I loved that. I'm glad she found out about her ex, Kevin, and let him go; he didn't deserve her at all. He knew he messed all the way up given that him and his (and apparently everyone else's 🤦🏾♀️) girl Tonya was always messing with her. Some dudes are such simps.
What her ex did to her was deplorable. Oh, but he got his payback and then some. It's always going down when the Washington/Smith/Christianson's are around and once you go to the ranch, it's a wrap.
Lover, Lo Strong was my kind of dude. He had his fun, yet once he was serious about Youme and his unborn baby, all the other ladies had to fall back. I always enjoy fast love stories. These two fell quick and I hope they last a lifetime.
The way that Lo put a beating on Kevin was superb; he deserved that and much more.
These stories are always way too short for my liking bc I want them to just go on and on.
Good short! I wouldn't call this an insta-romance, it does move quick due to some wild coincidences. I enjoyed Youme and Lo. Their progression was entertaining. This author is going to give you some trauma with the drama and it works every time.
This was an absolutely beautiful story. I love the connection between Lo and Youme. My heart was hurt for them, after the incident with the ex. I’m glad it made them stronger as a couple. Another great story from this author.
This was the first time I read a book by this author I saw it recommended on a FB post and decided to give it a try. I must say I was pleasantly surprised by such a full abs complete story in such few pages. I loved how she made Youme and Lo fall for each other over time versus instantly we got to see them build their relationship. I’m wondering if there are other books about the cousins and a few other characters.I definitely plan on looking at more of her books to find out
I was stuck for a few minutes before I could write this. Lo was BAE! The way he was ten toes down for Youme when he realized what was going on was great. But Youme????? Her strength was inspiring! To do what she did for her best friend after what happened to her… that took gumption! I laughed and I got a little misty but this book was 💋 chef’s kiss! 10/10 HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
I love a good fast paced to the point read. There was drama but not too much just the right amount. The communication between the couples were superb and I loved it. Everyone said what they had to say no jumping to conclusions just a good one night stand turnt lovers story. Kevin was the worse and I hated him for what he did. Lo was everything and I loved Youme as well. Great story
I ❤️ loved the characters, the names, and the title. It’s always good to read a love ❤️ story not full of drama. This was full of love and laughs😂. Youme and Love just worked because they got to know each other before all the love. Charmaine was hilarious. It’s always good to go back to the ranch!!! Like always, great job Meldau👏🏽👏🏽👍🏽👍🏽!!
Mel Dau you did it again another Great Black Love Story. This book was truly a good read. Lo and Youme made a beautiful strong black couple. Their true love got them through unspeakable sorrow and grief. Their love truly conquered it all. Karma caught up with Kevin. I most definitely would recommend this book. If you like Alpha Males you will like this book.
I love that this author can take normal stereotypical stories and find that the sweetest twist to make it her own. She’s done that with this story of an one night hookup - secret oopsie. Add some humorous banter, complete with a belt and drama, thanks to Christiansen sightings, and you have a really good, light urban book that will have you engaged.
This was a great read. I enjoyed Lo and Youme story. Love the meaning of both of their names. Their meeting was one of those things. I like that Youme was prepared to handle hers. I'm really glad that Lo was a man about his. Once again it's an absolute pleasure reading your books 🥰.
I’m always at loss of words when a person that has done something to you that you can’t come back from beg for you to not render the same punishment!!!… Kevin knew that all was not going to let that act of violence ride!!!… This book was such a good read and I loved the development of Lover and Youme relationship from a one night stand, to parenthood!!!…
I must admit this was a very good read! Although it started off different!y than expected, I truly enjoyed this book! It was good the see old characters as well! A word of caution, it is a tear jerker and does contain sensitive content!
This was a quick read Lo and Youme were meant to be he saw trust and loyalty for the beginning because she wasn’t about his dollars but her own also Ian and Jemma need their own story great to catch up on the Christianson’s and smiths
I really enjoy reading books by this author. I am ready for the next book now. This book tied in with other people from her books and I really enjoyed reading their stories.
This was a really good read. Youme & Lo formed a wonderful bond full of love and commitment based off of one night full of shenanigans. After reading, I really appreciated the title! Kevin and his AUDACITY---but those Christiansons came through and handled like only they can (Mel Dau fans know)!
She never disappoints. This was such a good book. Lover did not play and he loved Youme without pause, it came naturally. They had a big loss but was getting through it together. This is a must read.
When a one night stand results in true love, how much more can you ask for. This was a great story of meeting someone and finding out that they are your person. I love how Mel Dau weaves street with romance.
I enjoyed Lo and Youme book. From the beginning of them meeting it was an interesting ride. I loved Lo's mom Charmaine and the entire Strong family. I can't wait to read more of the Strong family
Kevin was trifling and definitely deserved everything he received! Especially the the treatment from Tonya. Youme having a one night stand and ending up pregnant was crazy. Not having any contact with Lo for eight months and then everything moving as fast as it did with them. They were amazing together after they moved with his mom and got close. Charmaine was hilarious with that belt! She stayed getting it out for somebody. This was an amazing read!
Youme & Lo were two unconventional people that were meant to be together. Charmaine & her belt is hilarious. Some times that one night stand may turn into your everything. And I loved that they continued to be unconventional with Ily's name.
