Amish Blessings #3

Every Good Gift

Rate this book
During the most difficult season of her life, how could she know whether their meeting was a gift from God—or another temptation?

Maisy never expected that a Plain girl like her could have her heart stolen by an Englisch boy. But when her rumspringa ends and Maisy realizes she’s pregnant, the reality of their choices—and their differences—sets in.

Maisy knows she will never leave her faith to marry her baby’s father. But she also knows the road to acceptance as an unwed mother in an Amish community will be long and hard. To protect her family from the scandal, she goes to live with her cousin in Haven, Kansas, where she will have some solitude to figure out what kind of future she might have.

In Haven Maisy begins to find her way—thanks in no small part to Joshua Lapp, a Plain man who’s made it clear he isn’t bothered by her situation or ashamed to be seen with her, despite the bishop’s warnings. But Joshua has struggled with his faith ever since the death of his twin brother, leaving Maisy to wonder: How can two people who are so lost ever help each other discover Gott’s plans for their future?

Best-selling author Kelly Irvin splits her writing time between Amish romances and romantic suspense. Her latest release is Trust Me (2/8/22), a romantic suspense novel set in San Antonio's historic art district. It explores broken trust and whether trust can ever be restored. Publishers Weekly called it a "whirlwind romantic thriller" and "an emotional rollercoaster."

Her latest Amish romance is Love's Dwelling, the first book in the Amish Blessings series, which released in July 2021. The series takes place in Yoder and Haven, Kansas, and looks at adoption among the Amish. The series follows her Amish romance series, Amish of Sky Country includes Mountains of Grace, followed by The Long Bridge Home, and Peace in the Valley. The series explores Amish communities in northwest Montana and how they are impacted by wildfires.

Other romantic suspense novels include Her Every Move, which Publishers Weekly called gripping suspense and said, "loving descriptions of San Antonio’s attractions enhance the well-paced plot."

The publication called Closer Than She Knows a "brisk, smoothly written, thriller."

Kelly's Every Amish Season series includes Upon A Spring Breeze, Beneath the Summer Sun, Through the Autumn Air, and With Winter's First Frost from Zondervan/HarperCollins Christian Publishing. This follows the Amish of Bee County series, The Saddle Maker's Son, released in June 2016. It is an ECPA bestseller. It follows The Bishop's Son, and the critically acclaimed bestseller, The Beekeeper's Son, which earned a starred review from Publishers Weekly. The reviewer called it "a beautifully woven masterpiece." The Beekeeper's Son was a finalist in the romance category of the 2016 ACFW Carol Awards Contest.

Kelly is also the author of the Bliss Creek Amish series and the New Amish Amish series. The first series includes To Love and To Cherish, A Heart Made New, and Love’s Journey Home, published by Harvest House. One of my favorite genres is Amish Fiction and this book drew me in and kept me there till the last page. Sometimes the hardest thing to do is to forgive yourself and one of the characters in this story needed to do that before she could go on with her life. Another character had to let go of his grief and turn back to God. I thought the story was entertaining, original, easy to read and a page turner. This is the second book in this series that I have read and the author is fast becoming one of my favorites.

Maisy Glick is a young Amish girl on her rumspringa. She dates a Englishcer and becomes pregnant with his baby. Nate Taylor has plans for his life and those plans don’t include a baby. An abortion seems an easy out for him but Maisy doesn’t agree to that so she is on her own. After confessing to her parents that she is pregnant her parents go to the Amish bishop. Wanting to save her parents from the shame and humiliation that she has caused her family to go through Maisy decides to spare them by running away to live with her cousin in Haven Kansas. Maisy is young and she considers putting her baby up for adoption. She wants her baby to be raised Amish with a mother and father. When the time comes for her child to be born will she be able to give her child away to an Amish couple?

Joshua Lapp struggles with his Amish faith. He suffered a terrible loss when he was twelve and since that time he has questioned God about why he allowed such a terrible thing to happen in his young life. Though he lives the Plain life he hasn’t been baptized or joined the Amish church. Joshua hasn’t attended church in years and being baptized isn’t part of his plans. He has spent years being mad at God for what He allowed to happen when he was just a boy . His family and the bishop want him to take his kneeling vows and join the church . Joshua doesn’t plan on ever getting married or having a family. Then he meets Maisy and finds himself drawn to her.

I recommend this book to readers of Amish Fiction and fans of Kelly Irvin. This book is part of a series but can be read as a standalone. This book is scheduled to be released on 2/7/23.

I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Just because you are Amish doesn’t mean it can’t happen to you. Maisy gave her heart and more to an Englisch boy during rumspringa. Now that is at an end and he is off to college and Maisy is pregnant. To lessen the talk, Maisy goes to Haven, Kansas to quietly live with her cousin.

Living in Haven does help but there is Joshua who isn’t bothered to be seen with her despite the local bishop’s “guidance”. There is a reason why Joshua ignores the warning and it’s linked to the death of his twin brother.

My review …
Ever been on a trip — a wonderful trip but as you pull into the driveway, you sigh and say, “It’s good to be home.” Maisy longs for that feeling of being home. Loved. Safe. Welcoming. Home. But her pregnancy causes the house and community she grew up in could no longer be home.

Okay, I’ll admit it. When Nate Taylor, father of Maisy’s baby, sees Jamesport in his rearview mirror — I HAD to read this book. You see I know Jamesport and those back roads. His family went to church in Gallatin on Sunday. We didn’t shop in Gallatin often but did on occasion.

Nate wasn’t a bad kid. But he was immature and used the “love” word too easily. Thus an unwanted pregnancy.

In this story, the author shows that whether Amish or Englisch, the same questions are there. Does the young mother give up her baby? Does the baby’s father accept responsibility or say terminate it? Do the strict Amish parents truly forgive her? Do his parents accept their son’s decision or try to intervene? All of this and more are interwoven into this story.

The other interesting plot concerns Joshua who finds it hard to accept his twin brother’s death with the kind of acceptance that is expected by the Amish. His friendship with Maisy grows as they spend time together. Maisy tells him he is angry at God. His explanation is thought-provoking. He says that he can’t “feel” God. Hmmmmmm…

A truly enjoyable read and one I recommend although I wondered about Maisy working in an Englisch store and Amos, her cousin’s husband requiring her to “get a job”. She was certainly sequestered in the Amish community yet the bishop did not object to her working among Englischers.

I received a complimentary DRC (digital review copy) of “Every Good Gift” via NetGalley from the publisher, Zondervan Fiction, Zondervan. A positive review was not required; the opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own.

This is the heartwarming story of Maisy, a Plain girl pregnant with an English boy’s baby, and the road she must travel to get through this season of her life. Along the way she meets and becomes friends with Joshua, a Plain man who is traveling his own difficult path. I loved this book and highly recommend it to anyone who loves Amish fiction. I received an advanced copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. I found it hard to put down and wish the story would continue!

Every Good Gift was such a compelling story! I liked that the author was able to show that the two main characters, Maisy and Joshua, were deep thinkers, who struggled with things that had happened or choices they had made. The way Joshua was drawn to Maisy, even knowing that she was pregnant by an English boy, showed what a kind man he was. Maisy definitely knew her actions during her rumspringa were foolish, and she had to deal with a lot in this story. Her friendship with Joshua was something that ended up being a precious thing to her.

The way Maisy’s parents and the community that she traveled to treated her situation seemed very realistic. I found myself frequently frustrated with the bishop’s suggestions regarding Maisy and Joshua, even though I think that his heart was in the right place.

Joshua had a lot to work through in this book. Grief had taken hold of him for ten years and pulled him away from trusting God. His journey back to leaning on God in all things and taking his place in the Amish community was a touching one.

The third book in this series that weaves redemption into its pages, this book was just as good as the first two. In all honesty, I think this one has actually been my favorite so far. It started out a bit slow for me. Joshua seemed a bit aloof and hard to connect with and like initially. But as the story progressed, I just became smitten with this sweet romance that breathed and oozed the kind of redemption only God could work out. This author has really impressed me with her ability to create life situations that are so messy they seem impossible to be worked out in a way thats best for anyone involved. But the redemption of God shines brightly through and restores as only our real and true Heavenly Father can. Heavily faith based and clean, I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys Amish fiction and loves sweet romances!

Last note: infertility and adoption are strong elements in this story line.

Could Not Put It Down

Before I went to bed, I told myself I would only read one chapter. That plan went out the window the minute I began reading. The story captured me immediately and I could not put it down until I got to the very end. It was just that good.

Maisy and Joshua stole my heart right from the start and had me on an emotional roller coaster. There was so much going on with them as they worked at dealing with their situations. However, that served to draw them together as friends and kindred spirits. While not everyone was crazy about their friendship, it developed into a special bond where they could share with each other honestly and without judgment. Watching Maisy and Joshua grow in their relationship with each other and in their faith in God was absolutely beautiful, touching and inspiring.

Maisy and Joshua's story is one of love, faith, overcoming, new beginnings and hope. It is also about true repentance, accepting God's forgiveness, and seeking God's will. It also drives home the message that "we've all sinned and fallen short of the glory of God," and that God is the only one who can judge and forgive and whose love is endless.

All of these elements are what make Every Good Gift a truly inspiring and touching story that will stay with you long after you finish reading it.

Thank you to NetGalley for providing me with a complimentary copy of this book. All comments and opinions are voluntary and strictly my own.

This is the 3rd book in the series, Amish Blessing, by author, Kelly Irvin.

This book contains about every emotion you could think of – shame, grief, embarrassment, forgiveness, acceptance, love, etc. You cannot put this book down until you have read it cover to cover. It was truly one of the best Amish books I have ever read, that that has been many.

The characters and their feelings are written so well that you feel every emotion they are going through. I hope the author will give us another book in this series and have these characters in it so we can see what happens in their future.

You truly do not want to miss this book. I received a complimentary copy of this book from Zondervan and NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Kelly Irvin has written a very touching story of forgiveness and new beginnings. Every Good Gift is the third book in the Amish Blessings series but can certainly be read as a stand-alone.
Maisy Glick has made a mistake—a very big one. Before joining her Amish church, she fell in love with an Englisch boy. Now, at eighteen, she is pregnant and in a quandary.
Not wanting to subject her family to scandal, she heads to Kansas to stay with her married cousin Ruth, where she hopes to start over. Ruth’s husband is less than delighted by Maisy’s presence making her question her decision to move. She vows to help Ruth with the household chores and with Ruth’s young children and to obtain a job.
Maisy begins to find her way again, largely due to Joshua Lapp, who works for Ruth’s husband. Joshua is not ashamed to be seen with Maisy and is not bothered by her predicament. He has his own problems and has been struggling with his faith since his twin brother’s death. Will two young people who are both hurt and lost be able to discover God’s plan for their lives and, maybe, find love along the way?
Kelly Irvin has a way of hooking the reader from the very beginning of her books with her wonderful descriptions and likeable characters. Readers feel a part of the action and can easily identify with the characters’ emotions and dilemmas. I have never read a Kelly Irvin book that I could not highly recommend, and Every Good Gift is no exception. This book is bound to touch the heart and soul of all how read it.

This is the third book in this series, and I have read the others, and equally good, but this can be read alone!

Be warned this is a page turner, and brings so many emotions, and forgiving yourself.

Good reminder of a "sin is a sin", and the plank in the eye, but living with the visible sin is hard for Maisy, and she makes decisions that change her life forever. Good ones? The answers unfold as you turn the page, and I was quickly turning for answers.

There is so much love and compassion here, along with a few obstacles, but we are with people who live their faith, mostly!

There is also a young man who is struggling with his faith, but the author places him at the right place at the right time, and we are with him as he has to decide what he is going to do!

This is a wonderful book, and now I want more! Thank you Kelly Irvin!

I received this book through Net Galley and the Publisher Zondervan, and was not required to give a positive review.

I really enjoyed this book. Thanks for getting this for me Jake :) Having never read Amish fiction before, I didn't know what to expect. I was very surprised at how well the book incorporated true Amish culture. While the premise of the story seemed, at times, unrealistic, this was an extremely uplifting book that reminded me that everything will be okay, even in the hardest of times!!

Living in Missouri and close to Jamesport makes this book more personal. I try to visit the area at least once year. I enjoy visiting with the Amish community. They are friendly and serve their community well. The story line with Every Good Gift reflects taking responsibility for choices. Maise was a young girl in the Jamesport area who wanted to experience life before baptism. That is what she exactly got. A new life growing inside her with a Englisher. Maise had no intention of leaving her Amish faith but she did not want her family to suffer from the choices she had made. After she confessed to her family, she runs away to her cousin's family in Haven, Kansas.

Maise's journey is actually a journey of faith and maturity. She loves her baby but she knows her actions has changed many lives. She comes to grip with that with the help of her cousin and her family and their hired help Joshua Lapp. I don't want to give to much away because the journey Maise takes is worth taking the journey with. How she finds redemption with her baby, her closest relationships and with Joshua who is going on a journey himself. We all deal with self-worth and Maise finds it in faith. You find yourself wanting the story line to go a different way but part of redemption is sacrifice. Seeing the value of sacrifice in the life of a baby is precious and the hope that it continues to bring is a lesson we all need.

A special thank you to Zondervan Publishing and Netgalley for the ARC and the opportunity to post an honest review.

If the measure of a good book is how many tissues the reader goes through while reading it, Every Good Gift is a stellar offering! I wept often at Maisy's story, and Joshua's story, and Vicki & Isaac's story. All of these, woven together, made for a book I had trouble putting down to do anything else.

Maisy Glick finished her rumspringa months ago, but it isn't finished with her. When morning sickness rears its ugly head, the reality of her situation hits full force. She won't leave her Amish faith so she can't marry her English boyfriend, who is off to college and wants nothing to do with parenthood. She knows that as an unwed mother in her community, she will be an example to young girls of how not to act, and she knows she will likely be isolated until her baby is born. She knows she messed up badly and she knows her parents and siblings will endure scandal because of her so she packs her belongings and flees to her cousin, Ruth's, home in Haven, Kansas.

When Joshua Lapp finds a bedraggled Amish girl sitting on a bench at the train station, he thinks nothing of asking where she is headed. When she says the name of his boss, he knows he can't leave her on the train platform and offers to share his driver with her. As Maisy begins to make her way, the obstacles she has to overcome are made easier by Joshua's friendship. He spends time with her when no other Amish can or will. He's not been baptized, so he doesn't have to obey the bishop's edict. As Maisy makes one of the hardest decisions of her life, can he make her see that he sees her, not her sin, and that "all have sinned and fall short" as the Scriptures say?

I cannot say enough about how emotional this book is. Maisy makes a mistake that, in the English world, is commonplace but in the Amish world, is only redeemable by marriage. She can't marry outside her faith, so she's stuck being a cautionary tale for every young girl in her district. She's also stuck being an embarrassment to her parents, so running away to a district where she's not well-known seems the better option. When she starts having feelings for Joshua, how does she know they're real and not just her giving in to her romantic fantasies? She wants so badly to do the right thing and gain the respect of those she meets, but the Amish have been warned not to associate with her, and the English don't understand the Amish ways. Navigating the two worlds is just a bit easier with Joshua's friendship but an Amish man and woman can't be friends, or can they?

So many individual stories converge in the pages of this book to make it gripping reading. Readers who love Amish romance fiction, will definitely enjoy this but I think anyone who enjoys a story with a ton of emotion will also love this book. It gets all the stars from me!

Every Good Gift by Kelly Irvin, book three in the Amish Blessings series, is a sweet story of forgiveness, especially of oneself, generosity, grief, and faith. Maisy and Joshua's story is one of love, faith, overcoming hurts, new beginnings and hope. It’s also about repentance, accepting G-d's forgiveness, and seeking G-d's will.

Maisy Glick, a young Amish girl, who become pregnant while on her Rumspringa and seeing a non-Amish boy, Nate Taylor. Nate has plans for his life and those plans do not include a baby; leaving Maisy alone. After confessing her situation to her parents, and wanting to save them from the shame and humiliation she has caused, Maisy runs away, to live with her cousin in Haven Kansas. Maisy is young and she considers putting her baby up for adoption. She wants her baby to be raised Amish with a mother and father. However, when the time comes for her child to be born she will have to face whether to give her child to an Amish couple, unable to have children of their own, or break their hearts by keeping the baby as her own.

Joshua Lapp has struggled with his Amish faith and angry at G-d since he suffered a terrible loss when he was twelve; the loss of his twin brother. Since then he has been questioning why G-d allowed such a terrible thing was allowed to happen. His family and the bishop want him to confront his anger, forgive himself, and join the church. Joshua never planned on getting married or having a family. That is, until he meets Maisy and finds himself drawn to her and her situation.

Ms. Irvin wrote a wonderfully sweet and moving story that had me feeling all the emotions; shame, grief, embarrassment, forgiveness, acceptance, and love. The message of love, faith, and forgiveness stood strong; making this sweet and inspirational read one I could not put down, drawing me in, making me forget it was fiction. This inspiring and touching story will stay with you long after you finish reading it. I highly recommend Every Good Gift to other readers.

Maisy Glick wanted to experience her rumspringa as Amish teens were allowed prior to joining the church. Maisy never doubted that she'd join the faith of her family. She just wanted to experience the Englisch world first. And she did. What she didn't expect was to fall so hard for an Englisch boy (Nate) and find herself throwing up each day after their relationship ended.
Nate is headed off to college and doesn't want a wife and baby at this time in his life. Maisy wants to remain Amish, join the church and raise her child Amish. She knows this news of hers will devastate her family. And, it did.
In her shame, she ran away to her cousin, Ruth's home where Ruth greets her with open arms. Ruth's husband, Amos, not so much.
Ruth and Amos' community is not allowed to speak to her. She is not allowed to attend their church services. They fear the younger ones will see her condition and sin as acceptable. An example must be made of her.
Joshua Lapp, whom she met when she arrived in town, gave her a ride out to Ruth and Amos' home where he is employed by Amos. Joshua became her friend. He has yet to join the church as he is dealing with anger towards God for a huge loss he suffered as a boy. He asks the age-old question of why a good God would allow this to happen.
The bishop has warned him to stay away from Maisy, but he doesn't. They become friends. Maisy has learned her lesson and wants to do nothing to bring more shame upon herself or family. Joshua has genuine respect for Maisy and does not judge her as many others do.
This is such a well written story. Great characters. You feel as though you're there with them.

Every Good Gift by Kelly Irvin is the third novel in the Amish Blessings series. It can be read as a standalone for those new to the series. I was eager to read this story (I moved it ahead of other books on my TBR list). I like Kelly Irvin’s writing style. It is friendly and engaging. I was easily drawn into the story. Maisy Glick is on her rumspringa and has an English boyfriend. When Maisy discovers she is pregnant, she makes a decision. Maisy does not want her family to be embarrassed by her actions. She departs for Haven, Kansas to stay with her cousin. Joshua Lapp is at the bus station sending his family off on their trip. He sees an exhausted Maisy and offers her transportation to her cousin’s farm. Joshua is not a baptized member of the church despite being in his early twenties. Joshua misses his twin brother who died when they were twelve. He is angry at God and does not understand how God can allow a child to die. Joshua befriends Maisy despite warnings from the bishop. Maisy has some tough decisions to make. What does God have in store for these two lost souls? Every Good Gift is a touching story. I thought the characters were realistic and relatable. The author did a wonderful job at describing the emotions the characters were feeling. Maisy and Joshua learn some valuable life lessons. Maisy needs to find a way to forgive herself so she can move forward while Joshua needs to let go of his grief and anger towards God. I like that we are reminded that “Every one of us has sinned and fallen short of the glory of Gott.” We only have to seek forgiveness and He will give it. I was sorry when Every Good Gift came to an end. I enjoyed getting to know the characters and going on their journey with them. I like that we get to catch up with the characters from Love’s Dwelling and The Warmth of Sunshine. Every Good Gift is a story about love, compassion, faith, family, forgiveness, and hope.

Thank you Zondervan Press for allowing me to read Kelly Irvin’s upcoming book, Every Good Gift. Release day is February 7, 2023.

In this third book in the Amish Blessings series, Kelly Irvin takes us on an adventure that encompasses Every emotion you could possibly think of; love, hate, embarrassment, rejection, joy, Acceptance, and forgiveness. Possibly the hardest, is the act forgiving yourself.

Kelly has the most unique way of using words. She paints pictures of the experience with just the use of her descriptions in a very unique manner.

Irvin takes Maisy, a young unwed mother in an Amish community and moves her to her cousins’ community. There she meets a quite Amish man, Joshua Lapp, who has struggles of his own. Joshua accepts her and her wrongs without bias. Together they fight to understand God’s will for their lives.

This is another 5-star read from Kelly Irvin.

Maisy gets too involved with an English boy during her Rumspringa. The result is a surprise pregnancy. Knowing they cannot marry, even though she is not yet baptized, she runs off to live with her cousin, avoiding a shunning and more embarrassment to her family. While living there, she meets Joshua, a man with a tragedy in his past that he hasn’t come to terms with yet. Through their growing friendship, they gain perspective into their own lives and their futures. Maisy must make one of the hardest decisions of her life - what future does she want for her unborn child. This novel is fraught with problems, but also filled with hope. The characters are well developed and seem real, right down to their real problems. There is tension the story, some of it coming from the secondary characters who threaten to thwart Maisy’s decisions. The plot is very interesting and quite readable. This novel wraps up the series nicely, showing that with faith and with God, blessings abound, even when you are not looking for them.

Kelly Irvin’s latest book, Every Good Gift, is another example of why she is one of my favorite authors. Full of moments that make you giggle and make you want to cry, this book will keep you up so you can finish it! Maisy is a young Amish woman who becomes pregnant by an English boy. She leaves home and goes to her cousin Ruth’s house so as not to drag her family into her shame. She is alone and sad and desperate to find hope. Joshua is a young man who lost his twin brother in a house fire ten years ago. He is angry and hurt and not sure how to move forward. When maisy moves in with her cousin, she and Joshua develop and unlikely friendship. As she struggles to make the best choice for her new baby, he seeks answers to help heal his heart. Together, they will discover that God has a plan that they could never have imagined. I wish the series wasn’t at an end. I’d love to keep reading about all the people in Haven! Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers! As always, five stars!

I really have enjoyed every Kelly Irvin book I've read and this one has been no exception.
The author has a way with words, penning such a realistic book.
There are some very tough subjects dealt with here. It's not a light easy read, it's actually a rather emotional one.
A young plain woman, a young plain man and an Amish couple all have things they are dealing with, things that are not easy at all. Through God's love, redemption, forgiveness and lots of talking it out they are able to get through.
Sometimes the way that is the best way is not the easiest way.
This is a clean Amish romance and the third book in the Amish Blessings series but can be read as a stand-alone.
I found this to be an emotionally written story full of acceptance, hope, redemption, love, faith and finally accepting God's forgiveness.

I love Amish fiction, and Kelly Irvin continues to do it well as evidenced by this third book in her Amish Blessings series. This touching return to Haven, Kansas, is my favorite of the series. Although carryover characters from previous books make an appearance, this book can easily be read as a standalone. The plot, with some unexpected twists, drew me in from the beginning and kept me engaged to the end. The characters are well crafted, and Ms. Irvin does an excellent job of tapping into their emotions. I could feel Maisy’s remorse over her sin and Joseph’s anguish over the loss of his brother. I appreciate the strong faith thread with themes of forgiveness, redemption, and God’s will. I think other fans of Amish fiction will like this compelling, inspiring read as much as I did, and I highly recommend it and the series.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley with no obligation to write a positive review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This is third book in the Amish Blessings series. The Author did not disappoint when writing this beautiful story. Maisy, a young Plain girl in her Rumspringa who knows she will join the church one day but wants to experiance life before she takes the vow. Her desire to have fun crosses the line when she meets an English fella. Carelessness and temptation leaves her in a predicament that effects no only herself but her family. Running away to Kansas to her cousins she meets Joshua upon her arrival, He understands her situation and they become friends or is he another temptation. Maisy's story is very relatable to this reader and others who have given a child up for adoption. A true sacrifice of a birth mother to give a child to parents who have suffered the pain of being childless. This book was an advanced copy by the publisher and the review of this book is of my own personal opinion.

Am a huge fan of Amish romance novels and this one did not disappoint.

The Amish are big believers in public admission if sins and granting total forgiveness. It is something we need to strive for daily. I have a hard time forgetting. God doesnt hold on to our past sins. Once forgive they are gone. Oh to be like God.

I loved to story, although one that as been told many times, it was done with a new twist and the book was a light enjoyable read. Our own daughter got pregnant at 16 so I could relate to the story to a certain degree. We did not send her away and she eventually married the father (still married 25 years later).

Recommend.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher, Zondervan, for granting me an advance copy of this book in return for my honest opinions.

Author Kelly Irvin dives right in with this story. Please know ahead of time that this will deal with unexpected pregnancy and choices that come with that. (I don’t want to give away any spoilers). Just understand it’s a tough subject though handled carefully and honestly, and could come with triggers for those who have been in this situation.

This story with these characters kept my attention from the first word. While I thought it might be a light, enjoyable read it wasn’t. It was extremely enthralling but I don’t know if I would say enjoyable. Irvin didn’t mess around with this one. Yet there were moments of lightness and even humor, keeping it from being overly heavy.

Full of every emotion imaginable, as well as forgiveness, acceptance, and love, I highly recommend it.

Knowing life with her baby's father is not an option, Maisy decides to leave town and stay with her cousin. Maisy wants to avoid shaming her family since she is an unwed Amish mother. Her cousin welcomes her with open arms, but her cousin's husband Amos isn't so welcoming. Maisy slowly develops a friendship with Joshua who works for Amos. While Maisy is strong her faith, Joshua has been struggling with his since he lost his twin in a fire. I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own. I really like reading this series dealing with different family issues. I like that both Maisy and Joshua haven't been baptized yet, which allows them the freedom to develop a relationship. I also like that they are both strong people who are trying to do the right thing. I have really enjoyed reading this book and this series.

I find reading about other cultures is interesting, but I find a lot of curiosity and interest in the Amish culture. I had a lot of fun exploring and continuing to learn through this book. I would consider this an Amish Hallmark. It was full of so many lessons and you felt every emotion that Maisey feels. I can’t imagine what she went through or felt to grab life by the horns like she did, but I’m left feeling empowered and ready to take on my own life struggles (which seem so much smaller all of a sudden). I recommend this book! It is a part of a series; I did not read any other book to the series and was able to read it stand alone perfectly fine. I was hoping to hear from Nate by the end of this one, but maybe that’s what the next book is for..this series might just be added to my must read list to find out more!

Welcome back to Haven! This is the third book in the “Amish Blessings” series. You can read this as a stand alone book. However, I do recommend reading the other books in the series because they are so great! This is Maisy’s story. Marist gets pregnant with an Englisher’s baby during her rumspringa. She leaves her family and goes to her cousin's house to avoid embarrassing her family. We see her possibly getting a second chance with Joshua, a young man who is fighting his own heartache. Once I started reading, I couldn’t wait to see how the story turned out! Get the tissues ready for this one.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from Zondervan through NetGalley. The opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own.

Every Good Gift, Book 3 in the Amish Blessings series was beautiful. The author took a difficult topic and instead of handling it the way one would think, she made the reader think outside the box and created a beautiful tapestry of words, thoughts, emotions and feelings all woven together. I was able to see the pain, emotion and heartbreak from all sides and in the end realize there is beauty and brokenness, joy and pain in each decision we make. God has a way of turning even what seems to be a negative situation in this sinful world we live in into something absolutely beautiful.

I was given a copy of this book by the publisher but was not under any obligation to review it. All opinions are my own.

The moving opening of this endearing novel drew me right into the story and made me care deeply about Maisy Glick, who faces a serious dilemma. The author skillfully wove a compelling drama that reads as real and touching as a friend sharing in personal conversation. The emotional buggy ride pulls the reader along the painful path Maisy must navigate and tugs at the heart. I appreciate Maisy’s dedication to her faith and her willingness to admit her sin. She isn’t the only character with past trauma that won’t let go. Joshua Lapp comes alongside her as he struggles with his own suffering. I think this powerful story is the best Kelly Irvin has penned thus far, and I think I’ve read all her books. I received a copy from the author/publisher. All opinions are my own.
