History often bores people because they take it as a subject rather than enjoying it from a storytelling point of view and that's because often they are written in very dry language and biased point of view. I as an ardent history lover is always drawn towards the ancient and mediaeval period of history and when it comes to Mughal period I would grapple every bit of story and churn out each kernel of delight from any history book I can lay my hands on. This cute short book is no exception. 'Amma, Take Me To The Taj Mahal' is an illustrated recollection of the history of Taj Mahal written in very sweet, unabaised POV with vibrant illustrations for kids and as perfect as kids.

This is one of the books from Amma Take Me series. The main objective of these books is to know and enjoy the story behind this great historical monuments. As Amma travels with her boys Shiv and Veer to one of the seven wonders of the world she will walk you through the story of the marvel and an engineering success that stands erect in the banks of Yamuna even after 500 years has elapsed. Gazing at the mausoleum and admiring the sprawling gardens she will narrate the story of the Mughal Empire, the building of Taj Mahal, it's historical importance and what happened afterwards.

This book is so simple yet delightful with beautifully curated illustrations and adornations. The writing style is commendable. It's astounding to see so much detail and information is put into this book without making it bulky and boring for kids. Utmost care is given while arranging the stories. Throughout the book it is filled with interesting anecdotes and facts of historical importance. This was a one sitting read for me and I enjoyed it so much. The eye catching illustration with lucid flowing storyline gave the perfect reading experience I was expecting. Mughal dynasty always intrigues me and I admired this book for bringing that vibe through the illustrations and anecdotes. Only one issue is it's very short for me, perfect for a kid but for my own liking it's very short and I want more.

Amma, Veer & Shiv are the protagonists of the books in the "Amma Tell Me" Series, the books are interesting in a way that will teach as well as entertain kids! Usually kids ask a million questions per day but this book will definitely give them food for thought as well as make them knowledgeable!

The book has a very good storyline and the interactive between the family is entertaining as well as informative so that it will definitely help kids to learn from this book and even has a load of information for teens and adults who want to know about the Taj Mahal.

My take is on the book is that the book will be beneficial to everyone reading it as well as it's interesting. 'You knew, Emperor of India, Shah Jahan,⠀
That life, youth wealth, renown⠀
All float away down the stream of time...⠀
Yet still one solitary tear⠀
Would hang on the cheek of time⠀
In the form ⠀
Of this white and gleaming Taj Mahal'⠀

✍️Amma take me to the Taj Mahal is a stand-alone series, where one can explore various historical monuments of our country.⠀

✍️As the title says, this book takes you on a journey to explore the Taj Mahal, one of the seven wonders of the world. The lead character of the book, Amma, takes her sons, Shiv and Veer, to explore Taj Mahal. She also narrates to them the historical stories related and revolving around Shahjahan and Mumtaz.⠀

✍️I like the way Author has portrayed the history in a unique way yet in simple words!! Author has interestingly penned down the glory of the Taj Mahal. Vibrant Illustrations by Priyankar Gupta gives the story a lively effect. It was appreciating that Author has done alot of research before mentioning the real facts in the books. The Taj has always fascinated me. It's a structure that would leave one spell bound by its beauty. This book by Bhakti Mathur talks about the splendor of the Taj. The story begins with Amma and her sons Veer and Shiv visiting the Taj which stands magnificently mesmerizing the beholder. Amma starts narrating the history of the Mughals in whose lineage was Shah Jahan who built the Taj. She begins with Babur who laid the foundation of the Dynasty, giving an elaborate explanation about how it was established, their conquests, successors etc.

She further goes on to describe the intricacy of the structure's construction such as architectural design, materials used, craftsmen etc. The beautiful illustrations are attractive and will grip the young readers giving them a vivid picture of it. The author has done good research which is proved by the detailed description. A moral has been skilfully included for the children to learn.

The segment on The Mughal Architecture, Timeline of the Taj and intersecting facts which will be useful for and can be referred by the children in future. Since the book is aimed at young minds the language is simple and has been written in a style that will hook them to the book. Overall an engrossing read for kids..

Amma takes her two sons on a visit to the Taj Mahal, one of the world's seven wonders. She tells several stories about the Taj Mahal, which connect and contribute to its construction over centuries. The Taj Mahal is a majestic and beautiful sight with many buried mysteries.

Amma takes his boys and us on a tour of the Taj Mahal's fascinating building history and Shah Jaha's love for his wife, ancestors, and descendants. The vistas from the Taj Mahal always pique my interest, and every historical structure is built on stories. History and stories are something that I crave. Having visited the Taj Mahal before, Amma gives me a closer tour than any tour guide, and many facts and stories come into my knowledge from this book. Shiv and Veer's funny interactions make the story light, engaging, and believable for me. Reading this book has only increased my desire to return to the Taj Mahal and examine new and old facts more closely.

Bhakti's captivating narrative would be incomplete without Priyanka's breathtaking illustrations. Though intended for children, this book is ideal for anybody interested in Indian history, cultural heritage, and magnificent stories. The narrative and storyline flow are buttery smooth, and the images are stunning. You can never deny the beauty of children's books, no matter how old you are. Every second, this book reminds me of that.

This is one of the best children’s books that I’ve read this year! A really good one that does not bore the reader and offers colorful pictures to keep the young readers engaged!
This book is a part of the Amma, Tell Me Series, and this time, Amma shares her knowledge about the Taj Mahal with the two kids – Veer and Shiv. The Trio stroll through the extensive gardens, taking in the beauty of Paradise on Earth!
Coming to the narration part, the language is simple and everything is explained so clearly. Some of the scientific terms used have been given such uncomplicated definitions that are sure to be easy for kids to understand and remember.
Be it the history of the Mughal, the geography of the place, or the planning and architectural mastermind behind the building of the Taj Mahal, everything has been explained so lucidly by Amma, Not only that, the facts are put forth in a story like a manner so that the reader does not get bored. So history is made very interesting with this read!
The moment you open the book, it looks like you are entering some Mughal architecture as the very first page itself is super impressive as it looks like the name of the book is etched on one of the gemmed inlay tiles from the Taj Mahal! Be it the borders on each page, the pictures of the rulers, the architecture, or Mugal paintings all take you to that era!
Apart from all these, the book also has the layout for the Taj Mahal right at the beginning and also the architecture of the Mughal Empire through the ages, a Timeline of the Taj Mahal, and some interesting facts at the end.
This book is not only educative for kids but also has some information that even adults may not be aware of!
In all, commendable work by the author where she has brought alive the monument with lively dialogues, and interesting anecdotes and at the same time makes the reader aware of the facts about one of India’s most unique heritage. And also kudos to the artist/designer for the wonderful pictures that brought out the story in front of us as we read through it!
A sure 5-star read for me and the kids. Pick it up and I’m sure it will hold your attention with the beautiful story as well as the vibrant pictures!

We have seven wonders of the world but I wonder always that one of the wonder is from my country, India which makes me feel proud and that too it’s a symbol of love is such a beautiful thing that everyone can admire and adore it. India taught to the world that how to love and to be loved. I wish to see the pride of our country once in my lifetime. But I didn't find an opportunity to visit it till now.

The book, "Amma take me to the Taj Mahal" took me to travel to the Taj Mahal. Not only it made me to visit it, it also shares with me all the stories behind it. It explains the beautiful architecture of the monument, the history of the whole Mughal kingdom and the love of Shah Jahan towards his wife Mum Taj. The author made this book so much interesting with the concept of Amma along with the two kids, Veer and Shiv. And this is my first book reading from the author which influenced me to pick the other books Amma, tell me series to know the other places too. It was a great work made by the author especially for the kids and also to the adults alike.

The book is illustrated beautifully with vibrant colors and the quality of the book is also excellent. The language used is very simple. As the title indicates, the cover of the book is beautiful. The narration and the writing style is smooth. The content of the book which holds the non-fictional storyline along with the fictional characters is amazing. The plot is kept interesting to make the readers enjoy it without any dryness. Along with the story the author also included some interesting facts and some general knowledge about the architecture and the timeline of the Mughal empires.

We can introduce or gift this book to the children and the elders also can get benefited from this. Grab this book to enjoy the most fascinating periods of Indian history as she takes through this marvelous tribute to the love and loss, the Taj Mahal.

Review -

Today, The beautiful Taj Mahal stands as mesmerising as always. The UNESCO World Heritage Site is visited over 40,000 visitors in a single day . But , not all are known to the history of the Taj Mahal…
The history pertaining to the architecture , fights, successions , and politics of the Mughal dynasty rulers have been nicely elaborated in the book. The very easy language engages a reader . My 10 year old brother finished the book in one sitting saying that the book is just very interesting.

While reading the book many misconceptions were replaced by facts about the Taj Mahal . Like the story of Mumtaz Mahal , Jehangir, and Aurangzeb . I also got to know that Lord Curzon , the viceroy of India in 1899 contributed largely towards the restoration of the Monument. (Lord Curzon was responsible for the Partition of Bengal …)

The illustrations of the book contribute to the experience of the reader, while I was reading , it actually felt as if I , my self as a third child after Veer & Shiva , listening to ‘Amma’ as she took us throughout the history !… The book gives a tour of Taj Mahal like a complete guide while actually sitting at home . Every minute details regarding the construction , selection of jewels & stones , cost , and the story of before vs after construction has been explained .
Apart from the narrating the story , ‘Amma’ also tells the lessons we should learn from the rulers . Like , karma.

The book is a fun and informative read for kids . And will surely leave them with great knowledge about the very golden period of architecture, one of the richest rulers , and ‘how’ was this amazing architecture built and also brings to our attention , that ‘there is more to the Taj Mahal that what meets the eye !’

I planned to visit Taj Mahal for the first time in 2008-09 but unfortunately that plan cancelled for me and then after everyday my desire to visit Taj Mahal raises exponentially. And finally this year March 2022 I saw Taj... And the moment I entered the complex and saw the white Taj touching the clear sky and merging the land and sky... I actually started crying and my steps froze.

I remember my Sibling was amazed that what happened to me as all my way I was jumping like a kid that I'll get to see the Taj, I'll touch that... I'll feel it but the moment it saw... I froze, all my thoughts gone empty... Only thing i could do that minute was just inhaling the beauty and peace of Taj... Feeling the love... And just absorb the vision of Taj Mahal to give my heart immense peace.

Later my bhai got busy with pictures n ol but I was just wondering how can something be so beautiful and divine.
I've visited so many places but Taj Mahal was my dream n I wish i can go again and again it's like pleasure to eyes and soul.

Back to the book.
Amma take me to Taj Mahal, reminded me the pleasure I felt that moment.
Illustration in book pumped my desire to visit again. I just love the book.
Easy language, simple vocabulary, amazing way to approach the goal. A great work by author making one feel to visit such amazing place while sitting at home. As thr title says, Amma is taking kids to visit Taj Mahal and tell them stories. I love the kids Veer and Shiv. Amma. I love the stories Amma telling them to know the history of the Mughal Empire, architecture, and present status of Taj Mahal.

I love the book... It is amazing, simple with bright illustration. Reading book of this genre was my first experience and I'm so happy.

Amma, Take Me to the TAJ MAHAL Every word written by BHAKTI MATHUR is so exquisitely crafted that you want to know more. I have never found history to be this fascinating. We would never find history to be boring if it had been taught to us in this manner, and there would be more history lovers and historians among us to take in the historical splendor of our nation. Indeed, we are already fortunate to have a large number of Indian historians and admirers.

Amma, Take me to the TAJ MAHAL is a story and illustrative book that talks about TAJ MAHAL Situated in Agra which is considered one of the seven wonders of the world following the GREAT WALL OF CHINA, THE COLOSSEUM IN ROME, MACHU PICCHU IN PERU, KHAZNAH IN PETRA, JORDAN, THE STATUE OF CHRIST THE REDEEMER IN RIO DE JANEIRO and a pyramid called EL CASTILLO in MEXICO.
The Taj Mahal is one of the most stunning examples of Mughal architecture in India, as Amma, the author, and his two sons, Shiv and Veer, take you on a magnificent tour. exemplification of love.
The author also addresses the notion of power from a different angle.
Amma informs us much more than only about the Taj Mahal's construction, though. She discusses how, when, and why the Mughal dynasty began. How men of action, sophisticated diplomats, good moral judges, and patrons of the arts and music improved the culture of our nation. How they left with beautiful and lasting monuments.
Agra served as our capital before Shahjahanabad (now Delhi). Agra was one of the greatest cities in the world by the time Shah Jahan came to power in 1628, with a population of almost 7,50,000. Every small aspect of the Taj and Agra has been beautifully exalted.

The cherry on top is the serene cover.
Highly Recommended.

Amma take me to Taj Mahal is a part of the series Amma, take me which is an attempt to introduce children to the places of historical interest and different faiths in India. Through this series one can bring alive the major monuments of India in a very engaging manner

This part takes the reader on journey to Taj Mahal explaining every small detail about Taj Mahal. I don't think that this book should only be read by children. It is a book for all age groups because there is so much information which we as adults might have missed or forgot. Amma takes her son Shiv and Veer to Taj Mahal narrating a story of how Mughal Empire was founded, timeline of Taj Mahal, how things changes when new ruler comes to throne, the culture and historical stories behind this beautiful and artistic monument.

I never liked history much but when you get your hands over a book having glossy pages and beautiful illustrations then how can you stop reading the book. This book is so engaging and interesting. There are some interesting facts mentioned at the end of the book which i really liked. Honestly i liked the overall concept my the author because it's important to educate the new generation. The readers will actually understand the reason behind everything that is there in Taj Mahal .

The book is written in a very systematic order. It's actually very hard to organise so many things in 80 pages. The author has done a fantastic job and after reading this book i actualy would love to read the other parts also. The language is simple.

Definitely would recommend everyone to read this book because it's worth the read. Do make notes or add marks so as to remember important things.

Happy reading!

Amma, Take me to the Taj Mahal is a children's book in the 'Amma, Tell me' series. The narrative is written in a very fascinating and appealing manner for children to understand and learn. The story is written with the goal of familiarizing young minds with their nation and instilling pride in them.
Growing up, we were all taught about the history of the Taj Mahal and what it required for it to hold strong even now, as well as what it signifies and details about its construction. This book will be a beautiful journey for your children since they will not only establish a habit of reading, which is preferable to scrolling or watching videos, but they will also learn about their roots. This book was undoubtedly a highly educational read, particularly for people who enjoy reading about history. What I enjoyed best about this book is that children, like adults, may become overwhelmed by information, and story telling is the greatest method to keep youngsters involved with the subject while also providing all of the facts.

The graphics are really detailed and lovely. It greatly elevates the novel and allows young readers to investigate what is described in the book for themselves.Storytelling is the finest method to teach children, or anybody, about our culture and rich past. This book does it in such a creative way. It was a really enjoyable, engaging, and educational read.

Amma Take me series sounds as promising as Amma tell me series and this time we got to introduce ourselves with Amma take me to the Taj Mahal. Looking at the thickness of the book, I could surely imagine the vast monumental history behind the wonder. By default, these series as the title suggests have been the most interactive ones and this one holds to it.

The book springs up with Amma, Shiv and Veer standing at the gate of the Taj Mahal complex. The author has reaped a great deal of research and elbow grease to present before us the complete map with details about each of the components of the Taj Mahal. Minute details of the Great gate, who built it and why, the time taken, the generational history right from the times of Babur (Shah Jahan’s 4th ancestor), the conflicts then between the ruling parties and how the Mughal empire was established in India... all these have been pictured very communicatively through Amma, Shiv and Veer.

The author has creatively weaved the story holding on to the structural details while the three take a tour talking about canals, pools, fountains, gardens, and trees while also digging into their origin.

Not only this, the planning, architecture, selection of craftsmen, material used and from where it was imported, the internal structure, the inscriptions and their significance...all this and so much more has been vividly put up by the author.

The illustrations are bright and vibrant adding more life to the descriptions. The author’s commitment to illuminate the young readers with India's rich cultural heritage is exceptionally encyclopedic. I myself was uneducated of many facts. Nonetheless I am happy to know it all with my little one.

Totally recommend!!

#qotd - Have you been to Taj Mahal?

I haven't yet. As a kid I have heard alot of things about this monument, the reason behind it's construction and many more. And lately I have seen many videos on YouTube with interesting facts upon it. And being a admirer of Taj Mahal, I immediately grabbed this pretty book.

I don't know what the tourist guide would say about this wonder on earth but this book speaks a lot, right from the beginning of Mughal empire in India till date. Had this not happened, I wonder if there would ever really be Taj Mahal in India.

Besides the actual reasons for it's construction, the book furnishes handful of insights since 15th century to the end of Mughal empire in India. Written in simple language, this book catches our attention (not only kids, even adults) right from the beginning and leaves us thirsty for more facts.

Mughal empire began with Babur(from 1526) who is the great great grandfather of Shahjahan. And it ended with Bahadur Shah(till 1857). What happened in these 350 years is well presented to readers. Not so deep but ample knowledge can be attained from it. I'm not much into history but I'm more inclined to knowing the reasons behind the world's wonders and mysteries. Besides the actual facts and details, the likes and interests of Mughal emperors, their lineage and skills are shared along with love story of Shahjahan.

The author's hardwork is quite evident from what she has presented in this book. The numbers, illustrations and research is commendable. I very much loved the narration. Do gift this book to kids and thank me later when they praise you ☺️.

Amma, Take me to the Taj Mahal –

This read takes us back in time to explore the rich history of the Mughal Empire. The lucid narration of the book is sure to captivate the attention of young readers and keep them hooked. The illustrations in this book are a feast to our eyes. Amma and her two sons, Shiv and Veer take a trip to the Taj Mahal.

Amma tells us not just about the Taj Mahal and its jaw dropping view, but also focuses on the life of Shah Jahan, his ancestors and descendants. No fun in visiting a place of historical significance, without knowing the history behind it. Amma describes the Taj Mahal and its origin story way better than any tour guide. Once I finished reading this, I wished to visit Taj Mahal once again. The book throws a whole new perception. You’d be surprised that there are facts that even grown-ups are not aware of. Taj Mahal is not just a spot for selfies and reels, it is an icon of India’s culture, richness and heritage. Shah Jahan was the richest man in the world then and the world-famous Kohinoor diamond was embedded in his ‘Peacock Throne’. Taj Mahal, the symbol of Shah Jahan’s love for his empress Mumtaz Mahal, is even today the most visited among the ‘7 wonders of the world’.

I would highly recommend parents to read it over bed time to their kids to make them aware of our country’s lavish history, extravagant architecture, impeccable craftsmanship and also to transform them into avid travellers who know how to relish historically significant places in a responsible manner.

Taj mahal one of the most visited place in India as it is the monument of love between Shah Jahan and Mumtaz.  It is part of the 7 wonders of the world.

This book is basically about Amma, the mother of two boys, Shiv and Veer. All of them visit Taj Mahal & Amma tells them about the history, the glorious past & the facts related to Taj Mahal.

We should all know about it as Indians, but we are so disconnected from our ancient history that we don't even know the Taj Mahal's detailed history.

Cover of the book is just Apt. It's eye catching nicely coloured & beautifully illustrated.
🙂Writing style of the book is good & author put forward all the information in a perfect way.
🙂Language used in the book is simple & easy to understand.
🙂 All the characters of the book are fictional & instances also fictional expect the true facts about Taj Mahal all other things are completely fictional.
🙂 The book mainly targetted to the little kids to make them know about these historical places more & keeping an eye on the preferred age group author did a remarkable job.
🙂Author nicely described about the small small historical instances which may have been easily skipped. But author gave his 100% to make it a complete informative read.
🙂 The illustrations used in the book are just eye soothing. It not only adds a visualising aspect to the book but fun element for the kids.
🙂Book is quite fast paced as it is only 95+ page & anyone can finish it in one go. But it can be an enjoyable read for kids as it can keep them hooked up till the last page.

This book transports us back to the past to explore the rich legacy of the Mughal Dynasty. The book's clear narrating makes certain to catch and hold the interest of more youthful crowds. The visuals in this novel are a visual dining experience. Amma visits the Taj Mahal with her two children, Shiv and Veer.

Amma illuminates us notwithstanding the Taj Mahal and its amazing perspective, as well as about Shah Jahan, his ancestors, and beneficiaries. It's no tomfoolery visiting a legacy milestone in the event that you know nothing about it. Amma's portrayal of the Taj Mahal and its plot line is infinitely better to that of any local escort.

Subsequent to completing this, I yearned to get back to the Taj Mahal. The book adjusts your viewpoint totally. You'd be astonished at the number of realities that even grown-ups know nothing about. The Taj Mahal is something beyond a photograph an open door; it is an image of India's legacy, riches, and heritage. Shah Jahan was the world's most influential man at that point, and the renowned Kohinoor gemstone was engrained in his 'Peacock Throne.' The Taj Mahal, a symbol of Shah Jahan's commitment for his sovereign Mumtaz Mahal, has forever been the most gone to of the world's best attractions.

I would emphatically encourage grown-ups to peruse it to their kids prior to snoozing request to teach them about our country's wonderful legacy, lavish structural style, and flawless masterfulness, as well as to change them into excited vacationers who comprehend how to capably appreciate generally significant spots.

A FUN READ

Before I begin with my views on this book, I would like to appreciate the idea behind the “Amma Take Me” series by Bhakti Mathur. She is penning this all down with the motive of introducing children to important historical places of the country. This is a beautiful thought and the reason I got attracted to this book in particular.

In the book “Amma Take Me to Taj Mahal,” Amma and the to kids visit the monument and talk about its features, historical events that led to its making, its attractions, its architecture, the stories the monument has concealed in the walls, its surroundings, etc. The book is a continuous dialogue between Amma, Shiv, and Veer. Amma explains to them the terms that were then used by the people, talks about the important things and rulers then and bring to the kids a whole new dimension of the world. They talk about the culture, how successions took place, who defeated who with what strategies, who defied who. In all this book is informative, fun, and surprisingly beautiful.

Reading this book is a pleasant experience and if someone wants the basic knowledge of monuments and other important historical events, I would recommend the whole series. It someone is already well read in this sphere of history will find it equally refreshing. I loved the book and the illustrations in it. It is captivating for a kid because of the continuous factual give and take. Other than the facts, the way the story is narrated is simple and easy to understand. That makes this book an even bigger catch. For kids it is perfect.

The Taj Mahal, one of the seven wonders of the world, has stood silent for years in Agra, Uttar Pradesh, India. We all heard about it. Every year almost eight million tourists visit the monument. It became dignity for the Indian people but we hardly know the history of the tomb. If you are curious to know everything about the Taj Mahal, then you must have this book right now.

This book is one of the series of visiting world-famous spots with Amma, and her two boys; Shiv and Veer. However, except for the places, all the characters are fictional. Writer Bhakti Mathur has described the histories, architecture, facts etc. of famous places through these characters in her series of books. She had stunning illustrations incorporated into the book to make the book more attractive. A special appraisal needs to be given to the illustrator, Priyankar Gupta. Without his vibrant illustrations, the book would never have looked impressive.

The illustrations are bright and vibrant adding more life to the descriptions. The author’s commitment to illuminate the young readers with India's rich cultural heritage is exceptionally encyclopedic. I myself was uneducated of many facts. Nonetheless I am happy to know it all with my little one.

Highly recommended!!

Children's books are actually fun to read even if you've long passed the age for it, given its interesting narrative, beautiful descriptive illustrations and the sheer simplicity wrapping it all. The 'Amma, take me' series falls into the same genre where a mother of two educates her kids about rich history, culture and folklores surrounding the Indian Peninsula.

This particular book in the series portrays the backdrop of one of the 7 Wonders of the world, Taj Mahal. Amma along with her two kids Shiv and Veer are sitting in the vicinity and she tells them the history of the Mughal empire, while they listen to her in awe. The story as narrated by her, starts from Umar Shaikh Mirza II, father of the 1st Mughal Ruler in the Indian subcontinent, Babur and flows seamlessly through the construction of Taj Mahal, finally ending at the decline of the great empire.

Though being a book meant for kids, I was intrigued to learn a few titbits about the history and the monument which were unknown to me before. The author has clearly proven her creative mettle by keeping me engaged till the very end. The storytelling is smooth and easy to absorb making it perfect for children to read and enjoy. And as for the illustrations provided, I simply have no words. The beautiful drawings that flow along with the narrative across every page simply provide a visual treat. The book is highly recommended for all who like reading about timeless monuments with cultural heritage.

This book transports us back to the past to investigate the rich heritage of the Mughal Dynasty. The book's lucid storytelling is sure to capture and hold the interest of younger audiences. The visuals in this novel are a visual feast. Amma visits the Taj Mahal with her two kids, Shiv and Veer.

Amma informs us in addition to the Taj Mahal and its breathtaking view, as well as about Shah Jahan, his forefathers, and heirs. It's no fun touring a heritage landmark if you don't know anything about it. Amma's description of the Taj Mahal and its plot line is far superior to that of any tourist guide.

After finishing this, I longed to return to the Taj Mahal. The book changes your perspective completely. You'd be amazed at how many facts even adults are unaware of. The Taj Mahal is more than just a photo opportunity; it is a symbol of India's heritage, wealth, and legacy. Shah Jahan was the world's most powerful man at the time, and the famed Kohinoor gemstone was engrained in his 'Peacock Throne.' The Taj Mahal, an emblem of Shah Jahan's devotion for his queen Mumtaz Mahal, has always been the most attended of the world's best attractions.

I would strongly advise adults to read it to their children before sleeping in order to educate them about our nation's splendid heritage, luxurious architectural style, and exquisite artistry, as well as to transform them into enthusiastic tourists who understand how to enjoy historically important places responsibly.

Amma, Take Me to the Taj Mahal by Bhakti Mathur is a book that shows us a conversation between a Mom and her two sons, Shiv and Veer. So, Shiv and Veer have visited the Taj Mahal one of the seven wonders of the world when Amma starts telling the boys the story of Taj Mahal. The children too are intrigued to know about this historical monument and they are answering to every question their mom asks them. To know more about this historical monument which some of us might not even know read 'Amma, Take Me to the Taj Mahal'.

My Thoughts:

This book was surely a very informative read especially for those who like to read about history. What I really liked about this book that children and us adults too sometimes feel very intimated by the overwhelming information and story telling is the best way to keep children engaged with the subject as well as get all the information.

The illustrations are really beautiful and detailed. It really takes the book on another level and would help the small readers to look for themselves what is mentioned in the book.

I also liked how the author has mentioned details about the architecture of Taj Mahal in a chronological order. Then are the interesting fact about the monument which will also prove to be helpful.

Language is simple and lucid. I also like the writing style of the author. Overall, it was a very interesting and informative read.

'Amma Take me to the Taj Mahal' is a beautiful illustrated book that covers the entire history of Mughal Empire with it's base explaining from the background story of Babur to the last ruler. As Taj Mahal is built by Shahjahan who was the Mughal ruler, the Author throws the spotlight on the clan as a whole. As Mughal Empire is someone that is explored to the maximum extent through the textbooks, films & shows, the content seems to be repetitive. One can pick this book only for its illustration.

What I did not like & strictly condemn is - Glorifying the Mughal Empire as the Best Empire whereas in true sense it was not. The content is visibly fake & I regret the fact that any child reading this book will fall prey to the fake history. Babur was invader to India & there is absolutely no reason for Indians to glorify him as his entry resulted in disaster, mass killings & the intolerant Mughals destroyed Indian Culture. It is painful to read Indian Authors writing a book without reference from two perspectives.

However from Shahjahan's period, the content was right but the tone of saying it still makes the readers feel proud of the Mughal Empire. As I am someone who is obsessed with True history, I not only disliked the content but was even offended to read.
I would suggest the author to come up with the True history on the Indian Rulers as they are rarely appreciated although being the deserved ones.
As of now, I do not recommend this book.

Amma, Take me to the Taj Mahal is the new book in the ‘Amma, Take me to the’ series where Amma takes her two sons Shiv and Veer to a tour of Taj Mahal. The book has extremely beautiful illustrations by Priyankar Gupta that add to the story and narration, especially making it attractive for young kids. The author narrates about Taj Mahal through the character of Amma as a series of short stories and snippets to her sons, while taking a tour of the Taj Mahal and its surroundings.

The book starts with Amma giving a brief of the history of the Mughals, from the time they started ruling India, significance and highlights of the Mughal era, starting from Babur till Aurangzeb. The book then moves onto the lives of Shah Jahan and Mumtaz Mahal, the creator of this monument and the reason behind it, respectively. The last part of the book describes the construction of Taj Mahal, the design and architectural genius behind it, the intricate details of every wall and ceiling in the complex.

The language is simple and apt for its target audience. This is the first book I read from this series, and I would highly recommend this book for kids as the author narrates all the details of this world-famous monument and its history in an interesting manner.
