Bastien marries me only for duty. I reject him and leave for good by faking my death. Yet he goes crazy looking for me. He says he loves me when we meet again. No! I don't buy it. I can't let him steal my child! ** "She's not yours!" The front door was locked and deadbolted, but it only takes Bastien and his Betas a moment to break past those defenses. As Bastien towers in the doorway, his silver eyes glowing with barely contained fury, I realize it's all over. Everything I've worked for these past three years is already lost; every tear I've shed and sacrifice I've made has all been for nothing. I come to stand in front of my ex-husband. Goddess I’d forgotten how handsome he is; how tall. It doesn’t feel right to be so near him without our bodies touching; it takes all my strength not to reach out to him. “Hello Bastien.” Whatever he was expecting, it clearly wasn’t this. His silver eyes stop their hungry head-to-toe scan of my body, settling on my face and blinking in surprise. I can see the gears turning in his head, piecing together the puzzle of my presence here and replacing shock with confusion and anger. “Is that really all you have to say to me?” I cock my head to the side. “What would you have me say?” “I thought you were dead!” He barks, making my wolf tuck her tail between her legs. Unlike my wolf, I have more than enough bad memories and regrets to withstand his ire. “Oh I’m sorry, did my funeral get in the way of your wedding plans?”
From the first page, this book has grabbed me. Selene and Bastien shared an angst filled journey of misunderstandings and lies. it’s different than other shifter romances that it doesn’t seem so focused on details of being a wolf. I’m not sure if I like that yet or not. And it is a no burn book. 0🔥/5
Very addictive! The writing and plot are great. It's not often you find a werewolf romance that has such flushed out, 3 dimensional characters. I love that the lead characters both actually have solid perspectives that you can understand...both are right and wrong. I also like that the female lead has a strong personality. I hate toxic femininity as much as toxic masculinity. She doesn't just let the ml get away without having any consequences. The suspense is palpable throughout. So many shocking revelations! I couldn't put it down. Now I'm off to read the 2nd part. I can't wait to see where the story goes.
I just wish that Bastien and Selene were more open with each other. It makes no sense to me that they have so misunderstanding and miscommunication. You are telling me that Selene and Bastien allowed people and situations rule how they felt for one another.
Ask questions, question facts. They both needed stop looking at things and situations in one way. Or think situations was the whole complete truth. It’s been really frustrate. I hope things do get better between the two.
And Arabella is a trip. I knew there was more to her than meets the eye. People like her always have hidden agendas. We will see how this situation continues to play out.
These books and this author are a lie. The company advertises for writers to write a chapter at a time and mashes them together to make these. Writers are expected to average a higher word turn out every day than Steven King, but are called “part time/contract” so the company doesn’t have to pay benefits. They make .01 a word and have maximum allowed payout of $1300 a month. Thought to make that they would have to write 87 chapters a month, over 130,000 words to make less than most people’s rent. Please do not support this treatment of writers!
Not worth the $8 I paid for it. There are other better books that are free on kindle. The plot and story were formulaic, the MMC was typical alpha-hole. FMC was irritating in her ongoing incessant internal monologue and circular thinking, villains were predictable, the plot is driven forward by one misunderstanding after another. It’s so predictable that I was able to skip huge chunks (I can only take so much formulaic writing) and still didn’t miss anything. It was not a DNF, but a partially-finished.
Although some parts of the story were over wrote causing me to actually be able to stop reading for a day, I had to pick it back up to see the outcome. Parts were so good I fought with myself to get anything done cause I just wanted to keep reading. Over all I still felt it was a 5 star book.
Finished in a day! Now on to the second. It kept me captivated and wondering if these 2 dummies we realize they are both madly in live with each other. Stop letting little demons wiggle their way in between them
I enjoyed the twist and turns of the story. I did not like the ending. I liked how the alpha and his mate talk and behave. I am happy she did not just bow down. Ànd when she needed help she asķed for it
Miscommunication at every turn. It was fine the first two times but after that it became infuriating and stupid. Everything would have been avoided and resolved had people simply opened their damn mouths and communicated. And Arabella is a grade-A bitch. DNF’d at chapter 29.
I did not like spending so much money on this book. I've read better books for less.It was pure ignorance. This book is based on lies and it makes no since at all stupes
I’d be really curious to know how long this took to write since you can see how much better the author gets throughout the book. The writing was so bad in the first 30% that I almost gave up, but I’m glad I stuck with it
The story drew me in pretty quick. It starts quickly. I do like the story and will continue on to the next to see what happens. The negative is that both the characters seem to not bring up anything that bothers them, they just seem to ignore it.
I chosed this rating because since I started reading this book I can barely put it down, I have laughed and cried, I have related to things wrote in this book. I too had a daughter when I was 19 her father was a college bound football player for Florida State University, but if he had of known that I was pregnant he wouldn't have left and he had a full ride scholarship so I never told him and even today he doesn't know I had a stillborn. Great book yall should read
This is a really good series. I have read all of the books and they keep you entertained. This author has a very good take how on how a storyline should go. Enjoy
