Brent M. Jones writes reflective nonfiction about reinvention, self-awareness, and the small moments that shape who we become. After years of helping professionals navigate personal and career transitions, he now focuses on deeper questions: What matters most? How do we grow through change? What does it mean to be fully present?
His books explore themes of communication, identity, and reflection. Titles like The Human Factor, Interviewing Yourself and Asking the Right Questions, and What Matters: We Are the Sum of Small Moments invite readers into practical, thoughtful self-exploration through reflective nonfiction.
I was given a review copy of this book and, overall, I thought it was informative and could be useful not only in regard to finding a job but also could build self-esteem.
The layout was good because it detailed many of the steps needed to improve future endeavours from changing your outlook to networking. The graphics at the beginning of each chapter helped to focus on the content. The quotes included made for interesting comparisons.
I think this book could be a 'go-to' tool for those looking for a job and changing their lives.
As someone who is currently on the job hunt, this book had a lot of helpful information. Being stuck in a dead-end job is frustrating but I’m hoping that if I utilize some of these tips, I can finally make the change that I need to further my career and expand my professional knowledge. Hopefully, it can help me find my dream job sooner rather than later.
The Human Force helps the reader focus on self-awareness which is key to success with anything. The book helps guide the reader through the power of perspective. As someone who also teaches the power of perspective the author is spot on with his explanations and information. The author provides much proof to back up his points and brings up a lot of thought-provocative insight that can be applied to your life right away.
In the book, the author speaks about the totality and being a part of it. Being in harmony with all that is, is very important when it comes to knowing yourself, and knowing yourself is key to success. The Human Factor touches on one of the most powerful emotions which is gratitude. When combining all of these things and the information provided in the book, you will be well on your way to aligning with the perfect career for you.
The Human Factor provides the reader with the inspiration to change their mindset for more beneficial experiences in life. The author also lists sources of inspiration you can turn to for added benefit to your life. Although focusing on applying the information in the book to a career with step-by-step guidance, much of the principles and knowledge can be applied in everyday life.
I learned about informational interviews and also that networking is a give and take process. You may need help in your time of need but you should always try to help others when possible also. This was a quick read. I feel like it could’ve been shortened by a chapter or two but nevertheless, I did learn something new.
Well, of course, I liked this book. I wrote it. The conclusions I made in the book come from working with people one-on-one, helping them find jobs, and making career changes. This is my 4th book on career decisions and follows two others that have to do with understanding ourselves. So many people have told me that they want to find their dream job, but when I ask them what it is, they don't know? If you understand yourself, you will know your dream job, and then the work starts.
Alexander Pope said, "Act well your part; there all the honor lies" But what if you find yourself unsure of your place in this world? What if you know your part but find your goals too impossible to reach?
You need a change, and to get that, you need to change. All human beings share at least one thing in common. We all want to be the best version of ourselves.
