Mirror, mirror in my abyss, who is truly the Darkest Fae in our midst? Renaud may taste my blood on his lips, but I have his son’s blood on my hands.

The time for secrets is coming to a close. We must both step onto another killing field—far from Everenne—but fields soaked in lies turn into mines to destroy us all.

Perhaps resistance is futile. . .I have never heard of a halfling who repudiated a bond of a High Fae Lord, especially a mad Prince who is willing to kill to keep.

But I will brace my feet in the sand and hold my weight. I will not be swept away in the storm between the Old One at my back and the Ancient approaching my front.

Resistance may be futile, but my mother’s strength forms the marrow in my bones. I am the blood of an Ancient, after all.

You will not tame me easily, my Prince.

. . .I weary of this, Lady Aerinne. Of your resistance, of your rashness. Do you think my patience infinite? Have I inadvertently taught you I would stay my hand because I love you?

No longer.

Your secret is finally mine, the shadow in your mind you have kept hidden from me—you are learning to navigate the board, halfling.

Learning to seduce a Prince.

You will feel the weight of my wrath. The force of my want. Bend, or break. . .I care not. You are mine.

I have ensured it already. I have welded us by blood and seed, and when the flower bears my fruit. . .

Checkmate, my Princess.

An Heir for our Court.

You think I play the long game. Now you understand I play the eternal game.

Your move.

HEIR TO HIS COURTis a high heat fantasy dark romance, Book 3 in the Fae Prince of Everenne series. This is not a standalone and ends on a cliffhanger. Night In His Eyes and Blood On His Lips must be read first. For readers of Jennifer L. Armentrout, Michelle Sagara, Kathryn Ann Kingsley, N.K. Jemisin, and Laura Thalassa—bend a knee to our goddesses.

If you desire submission to morally gray Fae Princes (the darker shade of gray), murderous heroines yearning for redemption and coming into their great power, this series will seduce you. Take heed, Mortal Reader. . .a High Court is no place for the faint of heart. Dark deeds are done by day, and even darker by night.

I love this series so goddamn much, but I don`t know why the Goodreads settings are so wack when it comes to it. This is THE THIRD BOOK in the series, not the fourth (and fortunately there will also be a FORTH BOOK - I hope there will also be a TENTH because at the rate at which this story progresses I don`t see how four books will suffice me).

I am a hungry monster for this dark fantasy romance, that is so cleverly written. I do like that the focus falls on the main relationship, but at the same time, they are not devoid of the context, the attributes, and the responsibilities that come with their titles and powers. LOVE IT. LOVE IT so much.

I read the first two books (Night In His Eyes (The Fae Prince of Everenne, #1), Blood On His Lips (The Fae Prince of Everenne, #2)) this summer, but waiting for this one felt like an eternity.

“Why am I always forced to come to your rescue?” he murmured. “I think you enjoy making me your servant.”

“You have an overprotective Fae male in rut complex? I was in no danger, Prince, at a University revel. You clearly have some untreated issues.”

Secrets are revealed and the political machinations swirl ever deeper around Aerinne. This was not exactly the story I thought it was going to be, and my brain still hasn’t quite caught up with that fact. From the commands Aerinne had been given at the end of the previous book, I had thought that this one would be several steps farther into the future than the part of the story we actually get to see. It’s easy to understand why the time is spent showing us how and why these events are so important, and why we can’t just rush to the point I thought we were jumping to. And several of the events and revelations of this book have colored my opinions of some of the people around her, so I’m grateful to have this additional information before we get to the point I thought I was going to read about. I’m addicted to this story now and I’m more than a little bit desperate to learn what’s going to happen next.

Just Can't Like Aerinne

*****Spoilers*****

Aerinne and the many personalities of Renaud. Sighs. I know I've written of previous books the same thing and it's just that I can't like Aerinne. Her character grates on my nerves so much it makes it very hard to enjoy the story. Besides the thought processes, the mercurial moods are consistently baffling and I can't get past it or her crappy attitude. Aerinne's "youth" is regularly the excuse but I'm not buying it and particularly since she grew up with a house lord. I'm sure Aerinne's 30 years is more than enough time for court norms and decorum to have sunken in where I'd expect her to be able to control herself and her emotions better. Not to mention the hypocrisy! I'm reading from her perspective and can't understand how she's pointing fingers at Renaud for the same stuff she did.

In this book, Aerinne and Renaud explore their relationship more and I believe are truly bonded now that they've had sex. Maybe? The fae male rut was discussed leading up to their joining but I expected Renaud to be much more everything when it came to Aerinne once she finally gave in. But after Aerinne finally told Renaud she was the one who killed his son, I expected much more rage but guess because of the bond he couldn't go too far? Not sure but though they had a minor scuffle after her confession, things were back to normal except Renaud demanded a life for a life and tells Aerinne he wants her to birth him a son for the life of the one she took. Aerinne is not interested in having a child and especially not while they're at war but Renaud seems to be resolute no matter what his other personalities think or say to the contrary.

Interestingly, before he died, Renaud's son Embry left books as gifts for Aerinne in a school library. She's the benefactor of a small library and can choose if she wants give permission for others to read them. Though Aerinne takes interest now, mostly to thwart Renaud's influence and power over her, Embry had gone to her before his death in an attempt to help her but she didn't remember him at the time she killed him since her memory has been tampered with and hidden away from her. Embry gifted Aerinne with a book that's supposed to answer every question she has, she just needs her blood to activate it. Although she has tons of burning questions, Aerinne focuses her first batch of questions on things that don't matter big picture. Sighs.

Renaud kills Aerinne's good friend Juliette at the end of this book, no clue whatsoever why other than she was on palace grounds. Which makes even less sense that Renaud would spare Aerinne's other friend, male, fae, who tries to carry her away, and whom Aerinne has kissed. But the friend got the claws. Just no sense to it. In any case, some divine somebody enters Aerinne's mind and presumably tells her how to recover Juliette from life and the end is her gathering the troops to do it. Before that though, Aerinne had sunk into herself with grief so deep she couldn't be stirred. This from a warrior lord who has killed and seen many perish in the war she waged with Renaud's people, but she's so devastated she just can't versus being the hot tempered vengeful half fae she's been the whole book.

Overall the book was okay-ish but I think I'm going to let the remainder of this series be a mystery and hope everything works out in the end.

This book is very intense. The trilogy gets darker with each book. You must read all three books continuously to understand the plot. Each book literally picks up at the scene the previous book ended. This is a powerful story of dark fae and subterfuge. The relationship between Arienne and Renaud is a love/hate relationship. Not for a delicate flower. There are moments when they work together and other moments when they are cruel to each other. Most of their relationship is very dark and hostile, but there is a very loving side to it also. Prince Renaud says to Arienne "You call, and I come. You speak, and I listen whether I will it or no. You cry, and I sup on your tears and seek to destroy what caused your hurt. I can barely separate from your mind because I feel the loss like a dagger in my chest." Their relationship is complicated and develops over Arienne's entire life while they must also deal with vengence, revenge, political machinations and the wars of the fae taking place during thousands of years. Arienne is impetuous and a little bit of a bratty heroine, but her heart is in the right place. She devotes her life to trying to help her people and to finding alternatives to solving problems by killing. Her character does develop more maturity by the end of the book as she realizes she has to deal with much more severe problems than she originally thought. Renaud is a harsh, possessive, broken Old One, but he loves Arienne even if he has some unusual ways to show it. It's not your typical courtship. Some of the intimate scenes are not for the faint of heart and could be offensive if you are sensitive to more darker themes. Secrets are exposed and pasts must be forgotten in order to move forward. Be warned that although this is the third book in the trilogy, it ends on a cliffhanger! All in all this story was very intense and creative. A big thumbs up to the author!!.

Whoa. There is so much to this series that it is hard to hold on to it all. I feel like I need to start over and make notes or something. Lol. This one starts where the last one left off and if you haven't read it recently you might want to at least read the end of Blood on His Lips to remind yourself.

Raniel, Lord of Avallonne - trainer, companion in her childhood... until she was made to forget him. Renaud, Prince of Everenne... dragon - the cruel one. The only one who doesn't know she killed Embriel, his heir. General Threnvanne Sanyelle, General of Ninephe - soldier. The one who doesn't really know her at all, or care to - except for her uselessness to him. Darkan - friend, advisor. The one who knows the Aerinne she is now the best. All of these are aspects of the same man. A deeply fragmented fae Ancient who has little control of who he is at any single moment. Aerinne can barely keep up with exactly who is interacting with her at any given time. The one thing she does know is that she can't escape her fate. These four beings are hers and she is theirs. They each require a different Aerinne to answer to them. Can she put them back together into one being or will they tear her apart instead?

Aerinne makes some new discoveries about herself. Old memories of her time with Raniel come back to her. She finds her Dark form. She also discovers gifts left to her by Embry. Did he somehow know that she would kill him? Everyone wants something from her, even the dead.

Eagerly awaiting the next installment. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

I have to tell you this right at the start, this book ends in a cliffhanger. If you were expecting it all to end nicely, be warned, it is NOT a trilogy! That said, moving on. If there is any way you could love this complex couple more then I would. This tale is so intricate but it weaves it's spell on you and you are sucked into it. While you think that it would get laborious or just confuse you somehow it doesn't despite all the twists and turns, which I am absolutely not revealing. Not spoiling this epic tale one little bit. Aerinne is still reeling from all that has gone before. There is more to come and while she is innocent in some areas she is not so naive as to imagine that her future will be easy. She both adores and hates the Prince for how he makes her feel, how she reacts to him and how he seems to know what she wants. All the while he is demanding her love and submission without really giving anything of himself away. Small snippets here and there but nothing tangible. He could just explain things but he doesn't, he likes to play games and this game? Well this game has it's true purpose in obscurity. For all his cruelty, callousness and indifference there is something deeper tethering him to Aerinne. Wether he will ever admit to it and the fact that she might possibly be his only weakeness remains to be seen.

I’m quite intrigue by the plot of this series. But do I get whiplash with the back and forth of this couple!!! It’s not really a love hate relationship but more of a fight to maintain independence and not falling to the submission of the bond that’s the Fae female nature. It’s like the human and Fae parts of Anya are in a tug-a-war; now too that with the bloody multiple personalities of the prince.

Do I like the prince? Still of the fence on this character. I can’t stand the Renaud personality but intriguing enough that I’m giving him a chance. Interestingly enough, I prefer the General personality best; he’s seems the most rational. The other two personalities, though Nya likes these better, I agree with the General and think they are indeed too weak and in a way preventing her from reaching her true potential.

Do we now see Nya becoming as dark as her Prince? Or even better, the General?

Absolutely love this series. It is jammed packed with action, drama, suspense, and at times has a bit of humor with Arienne’s snarky attitude. She is so strong but at times get in over her head. The story is getting darker and darker. I absolutely love that I can’t put it down. We are seeing more of Renaud and his “sides” of personalities. I love the side characters as they add a greater depth to the story. This series continues right along where the previous book leaves off. This has you not missing a thing. Oh and the ending of this one was off the charts good, but, it also leaves me in despair as I have to wait for the next book. If you love snarky attitudes, action packed, drama filled stories then this is absolutely a must read for you. It will not disappoint.

Aerinne meets all four personalities of the Prince. Raniel she met when she was five and he locked her out of his life when she was thirteen. Darkan has been advising her as she grew from being a teen. The General is ice cold with no emotions and commands complete obedience. Then there is Renald, the Prince, that she is dealing with in this book. He claims Aerinne as his and will kill those who will try to take Aerinne away from him. When he finds out that Aerinne has killed his only son, his punishment gives Aerinne only one thing to do. She must submit to him for one week and bear his child should she become pregnant. She has released the demon in Renald, and the results are an intense dark claiming that will give a new meaning to their relationship. I am looking forward to the next book.

Aerinne has continued to avoid her Prince as much as possible, while still doing her best to protect her family and her house. Unfortunately, Renaud wants answers that could very well destroy her and everyone she loves. He lets her live and her family will survive, but the price for his mercy isn't one she really wants to pay.
Wow, utterly unique and compelling characters that are all very well written, I love them. Magic, mayhem, murder, exciting action, very steamy, and unexpected twists in the plot. I think this is a must read, fae romance and I highly recommend this book.

The story continues in this third installment of the Fae Prince of Evernne series. I have been waiting for this book to come out since I devoured the first two about a month ago, and let me tell you this did not disappoint. We have steam, we have heat, we have more questions and answers and I cannot wait for book four. I love these characters, I love their dynamic. I love how everything is unfolding and I cannot stress enough that if you are a fan of enemies to lovers, of dominant male characters, and sassy untamable heroines this series is for you.

Totally Awesome!

We jump right back in with Aerinne and Renaud. You MUST read the previous books first. This is a continuing story that's loaded with action and non-stop tension. There is so much going on in this book. Layers within layers within layers. Fast paced adventure. We love Aerinne and she's come so far but with every step forward, there are more problems awaiting her. I did have to go back and re-read the end of the previous book to be sure I wasn't missing anything. This does jump right into the story. Loving the story.

Another amazing page turner! I am really enjoying the development of Aerinne and discovering more about the many facets of Prince Renaud. This is definitely a book in which you need to pay attention. It seamlessly goes from dreamscape to awake, telepathy to speaking aloud, and place to place. I am looking forward to the next book to answer the questions from the end of this book. I 100% recommend this book!.

Intriguing, dark, suspenseful, emotional and a cliffhanger at the end. Aerinne and Reynard are back and their relationship is just as tumultuous as ever. In the midst of Aerinne trying to find answers to all her questions, she trying to navigate her way through her love/hate relationship with Reynard. Together they encounter secrets at every turn and harsh realities must be faced. Such a page turning experience. Wondering what is coming next.

As the series progresses, Arienne shows more maturity and begins to face the consequences of her brash actions. She begins to learn there's more to this situation than originally thought and she remembers things that lead to her and the Prince making a much needed connection. The Prince also has some growth and finally gets the connection he wanted with Arienne. Although at times brutal, the Prince's focus on Arienne begins to make sense. Lots to unpack here. I look forward to reading the next book in this series.

Both Aerinne and Raniel need to carefully come to terms with events that have shaped who they are presently and how their bond adjusts and adapts to this knowledge.
Not to mention any developing new strengths that need controlling, these two have much to figure out.
This third installment of The Fae Prince of Everenne is a landmine of explosive physical, emotional and mental feels.
Extremely satisfying tug of war read.

So Irritating.....

I am so irritated right now. I am sick and tired of reading these series only to be left high and dry waiting on the next story. Don't keep dangling a carrot in front of us if we have to wait for the next story to be written. Most of the time you've forgotten what was already read. Pissed😬

Part of a series, that really needs to be read in order. Renaud and Aerinne are back as their story continues. So much is going on. She is learning more and more that was kept from her and trying to learn and control her powers. She is young and feisty, while he is hard and possessive. Enjoy watching and seeing how they will get past their issues.

Intriguing tale dealing with the Fae, and I enjoy the enemies to lovers scenario. The characters can be annoying, but I do like some feistiness and that they kick some booty. This story leans towards a darker type of story. These characters are doing with a lot; danger and deception from multiple angles. Entertaining series!
