They say the most beautiful things in life come at a price—and that price has nothing to do with money. I should know. By the age of twenty-one, life had taxed me beyond what I could afford. So, when one of New York’s most elusive and dangerous men, Capo Macchiavello, came to me with an arrangement, it was a deal too good for me to refuse. And it wasn’t all about the security it offered me either. There was something about those electric-blue eyes that made me want to jump in, no life preserver. Stormy emerald waters or clear blue sea—I had no idea what was waiting for me on the other side. I’d always admired things that had to struggle to become beautiful. My name, Mariposa—the name he gave me—meant butterfly. It might as well have meant a fight for change. Because since meeting Capo, I felt trapped in my cocoon like never before. And on our honeymoon…I wanted to know how it felt to earn my wings and fly.

Everyone always wants to be a fly on a wall, in Metamorphosis readers get to follow Mac and Mari on their honeymoon that takes place on some of the beautiful islands that are parts of Greece.

I love this story…getting more of Mac and Mari is a treat I would take any day of the week.
Mariposa and Capo are so cute🥺*sighs happily* I can tell their connection stems far beyond what is being showed in this short story. I am intrigued by the series it's apart of. I definitely need to read their full story to figure some things out. The way they understand and complement each other was beautiful. The way Capo reads her and body language to see how she feels and answer unasked questions *swoon*

Short story. So what? Still counts as one in reading goal 😁 This is an insider of Mari & Capo's honeymoon. So beautiful. The way Mari LIVED! Gorgeous ✨
“Capo,” I called, and he stopped. “Does the ruby have a story?”
“Captain said it belonged to a wealthy widow. Her husband gave it to her. He wrote in a letter that the stone was blood from his heart for her to wear.”
“She was lost at sea?”
He nodded. “And he was killed in battle.”
Mari asked about a necklace he gave her. The quote above basically represents them and how entwined they are in each other.
I love how MAC/CAPO is the one to teach her things a person usually learns as a kid, and that's possible because of what he did (you have to read their book)
"I had taught her, for the most part, how to swim in Sicily, but she still had work to do. Just like she had work to do with always staying on her bike. I’d taught her how to ride one, and she mostly could, but sometimes if something came at her, like another bike, or a rock appeared along the path, instead of turning to avoid it, she went over. Then she came up laughing, even if she got busted up some."
They have an age gap and I like how Bella shows the age Gap and the difference in life experience using examples like the above quote. But it's sweet and meant to be and doesn't come across as predatory as some might think when they learn their story.
Probably going to read their book again for the umpteenth time.
I love Machiavellian and find myself constantly going back and rereading it. This was the perfect addition to it; I enjoyed getting to read their honeymoon and getting a glimpse of Capo expressing his emotions a bit more. The only critique is I wish there had been more of chapters from Capo’s POV but the ones we did get were amazing!
