Surprisingly Yours

Rate this book
The grannies are back and ready for their next challenge!

Julio Rivera is happily unattached, but his family desperately wants him to get serious about his future and his love life. When they find a Match Mavens flyer in a supermarket window, they decide that this mysterious method is worth a try.

Ellie and June are all too happy to help. After all, it’s unnatural—maybe even criminal—for a handsome and charming young man like Julio to be single. Something must be done about it, and they are just the ones to do it.

Julio proves reluctant to give up his slacker ways, and the Mavens must come up with a clever solution for his unique problem—or risk marring their perfect matchmaking record.

I loved this book. Julio and Olivia are my favorite so far in this series. The book was funnier, characters unique and you can imagine every scene vividly. Plus, the cultural aspect of it all was fun. I highly recommend it!

I received an ARC copy of Surprisingly Yours, and am happy to leave an honest, personal review.
As with the previous books in this series, the characters are well introduced, and detailed backgrounds provided. In this instance, the Chilean influence of Julio’s family was a pleasure to read about and experience, reminding me very much of my own ethnic family heritage.
The story tells of the importance of looking beyond the external appearance and seeing the true person within, and the real struggle of taking a leap of faith in trusting another.
Jessica Marie Holt has done a great job in telling this story, which I really enjoyed.
This is a clean, modern day romance, suitable for young adult readers and up.

Entertaining

Another delightfully entertaining outing with the meddling grannies who are now officially in the matchmaking business. Julio and Olivia are put together in a fake relationship to appease Julio's desire to please his family but of course the grannies have other plans for them. A sweet happy romance.
I received an ARC of this book and voluntarily leave this review. This series is delightfully fun and romantic with lovely characters.

Fun!

Who doesn't love meddling grandmothers? Filled with wisdom and mayhem, these grannies are a force to be reckoned with. Olivia and Julio just have to listen.

Clever premise, good characters, interesting relationships, fast-paced. Perhaps a bit predictable, but enjoyable read all the same.

This is the best yet in this series. Lots of humor and fun mixed into this story with great characters. The story is so interesting to read especially with June and Ellie matchmaking.

I really enjoyed this fake relationship romance. Reading her last book I was hoping Julio would get a book! I loved the strength of these characters and adored the Chilean heritage. As I’ve just started refreshing my Spanish language knowledge, this book hit extra in that regard too. I had hints throughout the book about the next one and then getting confirmation at the end? Woo-ey! These books are all so different yet all so amazingly wonderful. I can’t wait for more!!

I received an ARC of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

Surprisingly Yours is surprisingly good. After reading the first two books in the series, I was very pleasantly surprised by the freshness of the characters and plot of this delightful little book. The characters are honest and engaging and pull you into their unique and charming story right away. I highly recommend this little book of unexpected goodness.
