Mafia Lust

I shouldn’t be attracted to him...

JJ Kane. Billionaire CEO. Ruthless villain. Supposed boss of the underworld.
The first time I set eyes on him I hated him with a visceral intensity that took me by surprise.
Considering he gave me a roof over my head when I had nowhere else to go, I should be grateful.
Instead, I can’t seem to stop baiting him.
He's also my boyfriend’s father. Twenty-six years older than me.
And strictly off limits.
He goes out of his way to avoid me, treats me like I don’t exist... also gives me a job in his office, and protects me from my boyfriend's anger.
Now he’s also my boss, so I definitely can’t afford to antagonize him.
Yet we can’t seem to stop fighting every time we meet.
That is until he kisses me...

This is an enemies to lovers age-gap forbidden romance between an arrogant mean CEO and a strong-willed, confident young woman who’s determined to live life on her own terms. This book is a stand alone. 1-Click NOW

"Okay, Daddy," I murmur.
There it is. I said it aloud. There’s no going back now. But I don’t care.
His nostrils flare. His dark gaze grows intense. He lowers to his knees and glares into my features.
"What did you say?"
"You heard me." I toss my hair over my shoulder. "You’re the one making moves on your son’s girlfriend, I hope your conscience can cope with that."
"You’re the one who can’t look at me without blushing, whenever you’re in my vicinity..."

worst book i have read this year.
I just picked it up because Mafia romance stuff seems to be so popular currently but this book did not explain why.
all the steaminess was immediately cooled down by how awful the writing was. I cringed at every „Eh?“ and „alphahole“. The latter intended to be a clever twist of the world „asshole“, which Lena continuously calls JJ, because he is. It felt like porn that was trying too hard to have a plot and then the plot became laughable and just made no sense at all. It was just squeezed in there for the sake of a plot, because books need one? i usually never put notes on my highlights, because i only highlight stuff i like. But this time i highlighted stuff and felt the need to comment things like „wtf“ and „really? REALLY?“ and „oh god pls no“. Needless to say i will not read any if the other books in this series. And i just found out it is a series and this book is part 9? Jeez, how bad must the first one be, because in my experience a lot of writers get better the more they write. I am also convinced that no editor looked over this book, because even as a non native speaker i could tell there were grammatical errors in there. Pls, if you write a book, let someone read your stuff and give you notes, for the sake of your future readers.

Hot hot hot! Hot Damn! I was not prepared for all the steam.
This is the spiciest book that I've read all year, hands down! & I read a lot of spicy romances, it's my guilty pleasure.
This is a stand alone but also book 9, part of the Arranged Marriage series. I loved that it focused on family relationships. But the taboo boyfriend's dad trope in this is so well written, which includes age gap/alpha A-hole tropes. Spoiler: there's a menage' & it's so hot Phew!
Bravo for pulling it off so effortlessly Ms. Steele, I am a fan, you won me over with this one, so I'm definitely diving in to read more of the series.
Received as an ARC and leaving my honest review voluntarily.

HOLY SHIT?!?!?! OKAY SO I EXPECTED THIS BOOK TO BE SPICY BC OF THE FORBIDDEN LOVE TROPE👀 (BOYFRIEND’S DAD) BUT I DIDNT EXPECT IT TO BE *THIS* SPICY AND INTERESTING OMG!? It was actually really really good and their sexual tension in the first chapters were soooooo intense

*SPOILER*

*reducing 1 star bc of that threesome scene😭I didn’t like it no😭*

No no no no, everything about this was horrible. The borderline SA, the threesome with father and son as a “bonding moment”, the cheating, the manipulation, everything. I struggled to get through it, but I needed to finish my book count

This book is….okay at best, there was some good parts and initially I was hooked. The background for Issac and Lena’s relationship is exactly the same as another book I read (this other book was also published 1st…) so that rubbed me wrong. If this is to be a standalone like it claims (I have not read the others in the series just this one since it is supposed to be) it doesn’t do that well. It’s clear there are a lot of charters important to know when learning about JJ (the books mmc) but you’d have to read the other 8 books to understand their business deals and any of their side conversations which made up a lot of JJ chapters. The writing it’s self is over explanatory there are better ways to get the readers to know something than random unrelated info dumps. I did finish the book, I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone unless they’ve read the others but the writing style is rough, ebook has large paragraphs that never seem to end, goes from 3rd to 1st pov that is random within the same page( editing needed big time), reminds me of 2012 Wattpad writing….. so yeah good luck if you want to read it

DNF’d at 70%.

First part of this review is spoiler free, I will mark when spoilers begin.

But off the bat I wish I had know that there was in fact cheating, attempted SA, and non-con in the book (character was asleep and could not consent.)

Also, this is noted as being a stand-alone but without having read any of the other books in the series I felt like I was missing a lot. Like the side characters and all of that clearly must be in the other books and it felt a bit like getting plopped into the middle of a story already going on. Like you could connect the dots but it was not what I would consider a full stand-alone. You should probably read the other books first.

I love this trope so much but I just can’t with this book, the premise of the book is an interesting take on the 'ex-boyfriend's dad' trope. I love a good mafia romance so best of both worlds right? Wrong. First of all why it is called anything with Mafia is confusing. Like his past is referenced but a huge part of JJ's character is that he is no longer into gang life.

Then let's talk about Lena...

For the fact other characters and her kept going on about how mature she was for her age I just never saw it? I totally get the tension of this is something I should not be doing but I want it. But her internal dialogue about it drove me nuts.

I mean there was instant attraction to her boyfriend's (YEP THEY STILL WERE DATING) dad. I guess maybe I did not read the blurb thoroughly enough to realize there would be cheating. Which is such a huge no for me.

Then there is JJ who is hands down the worst dad in this book trope to date. Like my dude could not keep chill for a second. He manipulated the situations, constantly felt like he was pressuring Lena, and took advantage of her while she was asleep.

He has had ZERO relationship with his son and suddenly has decided manipulating him would be the best plan. And then like oh yeah let me steal the girl you are still actively in love with.

Entering the spoiler zone:

I was barely holding on for most of this book but I hit the scene in the sauna where they have a three way: dad, son, and girlfriend. Which I will own this is not the first time I have read a scene like that. But this one gave me such huge ick for multiple reasons.

First, like the chapter prior was in Isaac's POV and he was talking about how he just wanted to have sex with Lena one last time to prove that he could and prove to his dad that he was better than him. And then Lena and JJ were acting like this three-way was the magical cure to the fact JJ and Isaac have never had a relationship. And then they acted SHOCKED when after the fact Isaac was like wait what the hell did we just do.

And then there is Isaac. I could have gone the whole book without having a chapter in his POV let alone multiple. He was so juivinle it was painful to read. He admitted to cheating on Lena total shocker... not.

And the fact Lena kept making excuses for him because he is just more insecure and needed to focus on his art. Like come on.

He also almost SA'd Lena when he found out she cheated because she owed him for sleeping with her dad. Like what in the crazy town honkey tonk nonsense was that?

- And then let us cycle back up to me talking about how ick the three-some scene was because he had literally tried to SA her like days prior and now they are all doing the naked hokie-pokie together?????-

I feel bad being this negative in a review because normally I try to not. But I think the fact that there was so many things that happened that should have been warnings really bothered me. And overall there are just so many other books like this that do it better which I know sounds mean but there are only so many hours in a day to read.

But if someone read to the end and found out what the deal with the turtle in the bedroom was I’d love to know lol.

If you've read Steele's Big Bad Billionare Series (The Seven) or her Mafia: Arranged Marriage Series (The Sovrano Brothers) you will be familiar with the H in ths story, JJ Kane. JJ is the bridge between the Sovrano's and the Seven. You don't have to read the other books to read this one, but I highly recommend it because it will help you understand the dynamics between all the characters. Fans of the other books will love this one because it brings many of the characters back together in one book.

From the synopsis, you know this story involves a romance between a father, JJ Kane, and his son's girlfriend (Lena). Though JJ has appeared in several of Steele's other books, we knew very little about him. Steele has peeled back his layers in this one and gives us a complex and complicated character that you will love.

JJ and his son (Isaac) have an estranged relationship, but circumstances force Isaac and his girlfriend to move in with his father temporarily. Sparks fly between JJ and Lena, though they fight it. Initially there are battles, but Lena doesnt cower, she's a fighter and it's not long before the sparks of anger or irritation turn to something else.

Lena is no pushover and she has morals. She speaks up and fights for what she believes is right, even if it means fighting her own desires. Her relationship with Isaac, isn't the best and hasn't been for a while. There are reasons they got together in the first place, which are also the reasons why things are falling apart. She's dealing with her crumbling relationship with Isaac and the attraction she has for his father. She understands it's reciprocated, but feels guilt knowing that it would not only hurt Isaac, but destroy any chance of a father/son reconciliation.

Steele always manages to push the envelope with each book. Just when you think she can't get anymore shocking, she outdoes herself with something even more shocking. This story is no different. We get a menage between Father, Son and the h; but rather than a sordid affair or even a finale where the h ends up with both, Steele manages to turn it into a beautiful, one-time farewell, a healing event where Isaac realizes and accepts that he and Lena were never right for each other, that his father truly cares for her and that she is perfect for him. She makes his father a better man and as a result, true reconciliation begins with father and son.

I love Steele's books; she never fails to entertain and titillate! Looking forward to Liam's story next!

This was different from the other books in L Steele’s Mafia series. It was more about relationships, no kidnappings or murders - attempted or otherwise - with no suspense element at all. Elena and Isaac are more of a habit than any great romance. They were friends and flat mates who fell into something more after the loss of friend and I kinda of get the feeling Isaac was happy with the status quo as it meant he had someone to pay the rent and bills while he played the undiscovered artist to his heart’s content without having to go to go cap in hand to JJ, his wealthy father. Until the day Elena loses her job and they have to move in with JJ or sleep on the streets. The attraction between JJ and Elena was instantaneous and however much they tried they couldn’t fight fate. Their chemistry is scorching with a lot of dirty talking and a bit of a daddy vibe going on, well he is old enough to be her father, but not so much that it verges on being icky. There is one encounter though that did cross a line for me but that was to do with the people involved and not the scene itself which if it had involved any other characters I would’ve found it HAF instead of just NO!!! I did enjoy the bringing together of the Seven and the Sovranos in a business venture and thank the lord Karma’s secret is finally out, that really was starting to drag with Michael seemingly the only one left in the dark but mostly with this book I was intrigued with Liam and the glimpses of what’s to come with his wedding planner.

I'm so annoyed. This had so much potential SO MUCHHHHH. Why did the ménage happen just why??? I'm not against it at all but Issac knew he didn't want a future with her so what was the point???? And then end??? Where was the epilogue omg?? I literally pushed myself to finish and I didn't even get see them in a few years time. IM MAD

I have been anticipating for JJ and Lena's story and it was with it. Though I would have wanted the ending to be more fleshed out. It was kind of abrupt but we did get a glimpse of Liam and Isla's story. But back to JJ and Lena. These two are just so hot together. I mean, there's an unexpected scene that I'm sure you never expected but know Laxmi could write one, or a few. But what I loved most is how these two support and make each other want to be better, this is especially for JJ. I can see his character's growth and how much Lena makes him better. I really enjoyed their story.

Story line is right up my street, everything was great besides the fact the ending just felt like it stopped in the middle of an epilogue and the threesome part. It just didn't seem necessary whatsoever.

I am drunk on JJ (or shall I call him Jack?) and Lena’s forbidden love and I am quite sure I’ll have a book hangover tomorrow. Mafia Lust by L. Steele is one of the most erotic, sensual and taboo books I have ever read and though it was a long one, I read in one sitting! It has everything I enjoy and more:

🔥OTT possessive alphahole
🔥Feisty and no-pushover heroine
🔥Age-gap of over 25 years
🔥Forbidden Love of the highest order
🔥Extremely spicy scenes
🔥A major taboo scene that will melt your kindle

If you are a trigger-free reader like me, I say definitely one-click Mafia Lust! I am sure you will enjoy every moment of it.

I got about 40% through this before it became unbearable.

Firstly a large portion of this feels like a continuation of her other books, which I have not read, so almost immediately you are confused as to who is the mafia and who is not and their business dealings. I'm confused as to why this title is considered mafia at all, JJ is legit. He may used to not be but he's legit now so it makes no sense.

JJ is an absolute ass hole. He wants to get a good relationship with his son, but will do anything to fuck his sons girl. He cares if she cheats on him, unless it's with JJ himself. There's just no redeeming qualities about him. I don't understand why Lena even likes him, other than he's apparently hot. He's rude, he's snappy, and he doesn't give a shit about anyone.

Lena is about as naive as they come. She comes across at first like she wants to get their lives together. And she acts at first like maybe she doesn't realize how poorly Isaac treats her, but she knows it and accepts it. She only half stands up for herself and doesn't make Isaac pull his weight. She continually makes excuses for him.

Isaac, besides being a lazy dumbass, is the only one not in the wrong. He has a complacent girlfriend who apparently will just solve problems he doesn't care about so why would he change?

There's just no redeeming qualities. The way Lena and JJ interact is cringey at best and downright juvenile and gross at worst. I don't believe a 44-50 year old man would behave so ridiculous and she is 24-26, her behaviour is immature as well. How they interact in front of other people literally made my scream and want to throw my tablet across the room. It is so fucking awkward.

What made me stop was her interuption of the presentation with the woman her and JJ worked on (now like the 3rd professional interruption she's made?). Holy fuck, who cares if this woman is a whore. He ain't your man, and this is business. Lena acted like a jilted teenager and not a professional. It was cringey, embarassing, and honestly I can't handle it.

I skimmed the rest of the book and didn't see it gettin any better. Not even the scene I wanted to read, which is why I read the book, was worth it.

Honestly save the read. It ain't that good.

Why are there so many good reviews for this book? What a let down. This book was recommended through TikTok, I love a spicy book but this was rubbish.

I couldn’t get past how much this book made me cringe, the title should’ve been the first warning. It started with an over the top, silly version of how English people talk, which carried on throughout. Who ACTUALLY has ever used the word “poppycock”? The whole thing felt like the book form of a really terrible porn video, which isn’t because of the taboo of the father/son situation, but because of the unrealistic back-and-forth between all the characters. Like, “monster dick”, really? Every time it got to a spicy scene, every line made me want to roll my eyes! How can anyone find this sexy? It’s all so silly and poorly written! If a man tried to dirty talk the way JJ did, I’d think he was a teenage boy who based sex purely off of staged, cheesy porn videos.

After a while I started to skip page after page, there wasn’t even really a storyline outside of the spicy scenes, so what was there to read? So many random characters that didn’t seem necessary and any talk of JJ’s business activities were extremely boring. Isn’t this supposed to be a mafia book? Maybe I missed it because I had to skip so much of it, but other than suspicions constantly being bought up, did he ever actually do anything to do with the mafia? Him being in the mafia felt like random context that was never delved into, what was the point?

Huge pass on this book for me.

Nearly 500
Pages of near constant exclamations of “eh?”, “alpha hole”, and about a billion references to a dozen characters from previous books and their lives, even though this is billed as a standalone, and they have less than nothing to do with the lives of those mentioned.
I’m still struggling to figure out what the actual storyline of this book was, and why the title mentions the mafia…the main characters are legit and not in the mafia…
The real kicker here though, is a cringeworthy pity (her words, not mine) threesome between the father, the son, and the girlfriend he stole from said son… what.the. Hell.?! Poor grammar, non cohesive storyline, and characters that don’t possess a single redeemable quality between them.

Mafia Lust was my first book by L. Steele and wow!!! This one was spiccccy! I loved JJ and the fact that he was older, stubborn and a alpha hole. Lena’s personality was the perfect match and her growth to go for what she wants and do what she wants was a huge part of my love for the book. I like that she was strong day to day but found she has a submissive side and Daddy JJ was the perfect partner for it.

Absolute Leseempfehlung. ❤️❤️❤️

Lena and her boyfriend have to live with his dad but when they meet, there is chemistry. She tries to avoid it but it’s difficult because not only are they living together but also she now works for him! JJ knows he should stay away but he is a man who gets what he wants!

I didn’t care about the age gap, the fact he was her boyfriends dad but there is one scene towards the end that is just a massive no for me!

Also I hadn’t read others in this series which I felt did detract a bit from the story although this was supposed to be a standalone. The book was a little drawn out for me

This book should come with a warning

I tried really hard to get into this book but every time I relax and get over one hurdle that I wasn’t too crazy about then bam…..spoilers ahead because I wish someone had warned me!
Okay I get the H was older but the daddy / daughter insinuation was gross and he was doing thing to her while she slept- that was creepy and brought him down in my eyes. The h slept with her boyfriends dad while they were together but then she slept with them both at the same time🤢 I mean some stuff just do not go together. I did not like the h because she was trampled and to me she played both father and son! DNF this book at the start of the sickening Ménage a Trois

Mafia Lust ✔️ all the right boxes:

Tropes include
• Enemies to Lovers
• Age Gap
• Boss - Employee
• Forbidden Romance
• She’s in love with her boyfriend’s father

L. Steele's exposition style spotlights her talent in putting words on paper and creatively exposing the character's and their personality. A contemporary narrative that piggybacks to erotica with its risqué smexyness. Told in multi-pov giving each character their own voice, inner dialogue turmoil. Absolutely love the glimpse of characters that popped in from the Arranged Marriage and Big Bad Billionaires series. In L. Steele style she intricately weaved humorous banter into the pages and kept me captivated from page one to the very end. Excellent unfolding and im counting down the days until the next release.
