Harmony King disappeared from Charleston as soon as she aged out of the foster system. Ten years later, she returns with just as many secrets as she had back then.
As her past threatens to overwhelm her, she seeks mercy at the local church. There, the pastor finds her praying like her life depends on it and decides to entrust one of his tiny therapy dogs to her care.
Will this special Chihuahua’s love be enough to help Harmony discover her own worth, and can it protect her when the dark past she tried so desperately to leave behind finally catches up to her?
Don’t miss this powerful story about family, faith, and the special everyday magic of the South Carolina Lowcountry from New York Times bestselling author Melissa Storm.
Melissa Storm is a New York Times and multiple USA Today bestselling author of Women’s Fiction, Inspirational Romance, and Cozy Mysteries.
Despite an intense, lifelong desire to tell stories for a living, Melissa was “too pragmatic” to choose English as a major in college. Instead, she obtained her master’s degree in Sociology & Survey Methodology—then went straight back to slinging words a year after graduation anyway.
She loves books so much, in fact, that she married fellow author Falcon Storm. Between the two of them, there are always plenty of imaginative, awe-inspiring stories to share. Melissa and Falcon also run a number of book-related businesses together, including LitRing, Sweet Promise Press, Novel Publicity, Your Author Engine, and the Author Site.
When she's not reading, writing, or child-rearing, Melissa spends time relaxing at her home in the Michigan woods, where she is kept company by a seemingly unending quantity of dogs and two very demanding Maine Coon rescues. She also writes under the names of Molly Fitz and Mila Riggs.
A different kind if read. I enjoyed the godly approach of the characters in this town. Harmony resonated. It was a really good, understated growth from: broken; hurting; rejected; and abused - to healing; growing; giving; caring and belonging. A lovely transition. Left me feeling uplifted and hopeful. Very nice.
fell in love with this book from the first sentence. Melissa wrote another great book. Harmony keeps running away from her life till she returns to where it all started, Having been in an abusive relationships she is hurt beyond hurt. Pastor Adams sees so much in her. Introduces her to Muffin who he loans to her. enters Nolan who she wants no part of even as a friend at the start. Can Harmony learn to trust Nolan as a friend? Can she trust herself? Can she learn to trust God? I recommend this book to everyone of all ages. Wonderful. You will become part of the story rooting for Harmony. “Miracle” is just a fancy word for “Chihuahua.” The Church Dogs of Charleston are back again, this time with Muffin taking center stage as Chief Miracle Worker. The beauty of animals is that they don’t judge. And that judgement-free unconditional love is something that Harmony has been sadly lacking in her life. When she returns home to Charleston, lots of old ghosts are unearthed. Two of them want to claim all of her ‘tomorrow’s. But, while one of them may be the answer to her prayers, the other more closely resembles her worst nightmare. Can one too-smart-for-his-own-good Chihuahua teach Harmony how to open her heart up before it’s too late? Another great story from the author about faith, hope, love, and the power of little miracles in our lives. I received a complimentary copy of this book through Booksprout as part of the boxed set.
A Fresh Start (Charleston Hearts Book 2) was a great read by Melissa Storm. Harmony King was bounced in and out of foster homes while growing up. Once she turned eighteen, she left Charleston altogether. After a decade, she finds herself back in Charleston and praying in church like her life depends on it. Pastor Adam tells her about the special Chihuahuas that were born in the church's nativity scene the previous Christmas Eve. It seems like little Muffin may be the miracle that Harmony needs. I enjoyed reading this book and can't wait to read more by the author.
She had been a foster kid and never loved. Now she ran from an abusive relationship to a town she loved as a child. The nice pastor lent her a dog and found her a home. Soon many in town knew an loved het, one more than most, but her abusive ex found her. This was a very nice Christian romance story.
Harmony had lived a hard life. She had been tossed around the childcare system and she had a blocked heart. She had run from the city of Charleston when she turned eighteen. When she was in trouble, she ran back to the city for protection and comfort.
Harmony left Charleston as soon as she turned 18 and aged out of foster care. She thought she'd never return but came running back to escape an old boyfriend. Nolan was there ready and willing to help her in any way he could.
I really enjoyed this book. The characters are well written, the story well paced, the concept endearing. I wish it was a bit more in-depth in the entire story. I would have appreciated more detail as I had not read the first book in the series.
I really enjoyed this heart touching book! Great characters and cute dogs, (you can't go wrong with dogs) and powerful themes made this book nearly impossible to put down. Melissa Storm is a very talented writer. I plan to read every book in this series.
Just finished this cute book by Melissa Storm. Harmony King was running back to Charleston from Mobile, Alabama. She comes back to the church and found Pastor Adam. He gives her a dog, Muffin, and a home. Great book. Jeanette Stracner
This book was very enjoyable to read. It was well written and the character development was excellent. I really liked getting to know the characters in it. What a wonderful story!
Clean religious romance about new beginnings, finding yourself and most importantly coming home to family and friends, be they old ones or new ones met on the journey, this series is made even sweeter by the Rescue Dogs, four baby chihuahuas and their protective mom who escaped from a puppy mill on the night she gave birth, in a major snowstorm, all who were rescued themselves, and become undemanding therapy companions with the only aim to love and listen undemandingly and unconditionally. Also published under the title of Little Loves in the Church Dogs of Charleston Series.
