An alphabet book based on a collection of rainforest animals from all over the world.

Readers will find R Is For Rainforests is a very basic alphabet book with only a capital letter provided for young readers. From there each page focuses on a very generic animal species for the most part (cockatoo, egret, sloth) that starts with that letter, a very basic comment usually follows that adds nothing more to the animal being offered and a slightly more useful fact box with a conservation status as its header.

Readers are also encouraged to look for a small frog in each "rainforest". There are no answer keys while I couldn't seem to find him on the introductory page while in all the letter pages, he would only appear in one of the two pages of the spread.

The illustration are full page and colorful but the animals are rather cartoonish, which in some cases provides for a horrible portrayal such as the crossed-eyed nutria with horrible teeth.

But even though the book does bring lesser-known animals to young readers it does need an edit. The author mentions people confuse jaguars and leopards then continues to do the same, which means the book isn't quite factual.

Given the short useless comments and the fact of mistaking the two cat breeds, this book is a no.
