This captivating Little Golden Book biography celebrates Beyoncé's rise from a shy little girl to a world-famous superstar.
Beyoncé Giselle Knowles-Carter is an American singer, songwriter, and actress. Born and raised in Houston, Texas, Beyoncé performed in various singing and dancing competitions as a child. She rose to fame in the late 1990s as the lead singer of Destiny's Child, one of the best-selling girl groups of all time. Beyoncé continues to inspire and demonstrate that dreams—no matter how big—can be achieved through hard work and determination. Michelle Obama has called her a "role model for us all."

I bought two copies of this book when it came out, not only because of my love for Bey, but because of the “resurgence” of “Ebony Jr!.” A 1970s children’s magazine that was published well before I was born that I grew up on because my grandmother kept the magazines she got for my father growing up 🥹
Anyway, this book captured Bey’s story perfectly for children. I found myself reading it thrice. One day, I look forward to reading it to my own children in the future!
I got this for my cousin’s daughter, since my cousin is a huge Beyoncé fan. I had some time before I saw them to gift it to them and decided to read through it. It’s a gorgeously illustrated book and I did learn new things about Beyoncé!
Before Beyonce won more Grammys than any other artist in the history of music, she was a little girl who just wanted to sing. This Little Golden Book follows her from brooming hair in a salon to the creation of her BEYgood foundation.
Moral: Pursue your dreams - just like Beyonce.
Length: Shorter than some of the acceptance speeches she’s given, but longer than the typical picture book.
Favorite Line: “As a team, Beyonce and Jay-Z could not go wrong.”
Overall impression: Like the Taylor Swift Little Golden, we’re not getting the whole story here. I mean, to suggest that her marriage was perfect really wipes out a decade of tunes, am I right? Yet all the big pieces are here to show how Beyonce went from rags to riches and now gives back to her community. My biggest problem with this book is actually the back cover, where Little Golden advertises books about Harry Belafonte, Jackie Robinson, Harriet Tubman, Obama and MLK. The marketing suggests that Beyoncé’s story is one driven by her blackness only and that she has not become a media mogul we all admire. Shame on Little Golden for pigeon-holing this woman’s greatness.
Decided to read this during Beyonce's birthday month and after attending the amazing concert that was the Renaissance World Tour earlier this year! As a lover of Beyoncé (her music, her fashion, her persona, and her career as a successful Black woman in the entertainment industry) and possibly a member of the Bey-hive (🤔 lol), I already knew most of the biographical information in this book but it was nice to see it illustrated and put into a children's book. Such a super cute and fun read! 🐝🪩
Thank you to Random House Kids for the free books. These opinions are my own.
I grew up loving the Little Golden Books and just went through my most treasured books from childhood. So I was absolutely thrilled to see these new Little Golden Book Biographies.
I would have liked a bit more about her accomplishments as a solo artist. That could have replaced some of the family biography and better matched her public image.
this could have used about 20 more pages but any book about my Mother is an automatic 5 stars & this is awesome for kids to have to see they can achieve anything they set their mind too just like Bey 🐝💛🤍
