I loved Bob Ross on PBS growing up. Watching him paint landscapes on our boxy little TV was like magic, and listening to him was just as soothing. I love the legacy of Bob Ross. I love that my youngest son found Bob Ross videos on YouTube when he was 11-12 years old and, for a while there, whipped out canvases of all sizes, covered in clouds floating around mighty mountains and happy trees reflecting on water. He gave one to our neighbor, who took it with when she moved into assisted living for her final years. She loved that painting! My grandma, 96, has one hanging in her living room. Bob Ross magic, continuing through kids and great-grandmas! I loved this Little Golden Book: A very simple biography, shorter and less informative than the Who HQ biographies, but with vibrant, colorful illustrations. Delightful.
Bob Ross: A Little Golden Book Biography by Maria Correa and illustrated by Jeff Crowther, is a biography in the Little Golden Book series. I love these biographies. They are thorough, engaging, and are inexpensive. I appreciate learning about the lives of famous people in this accessible format. If you’re looking for a sweet and interesting biography, check out Bob Ross. Readers learn about his life and how he found his way to being an artist.
This would be a fun book to read to students because Bob Ross creates these beautiful landscapes. It could be incorporated into a lesson about setting. The students could follow along with one of his videos and create their own setting and then write a story. It tells the story of the famous artist and his life of becoming an artist.
I am a sucker for all things Bob Ross and when I saw these come in, I just had to grab a copy. The illustrations are great, and I even learned a couple things I did not know about Bob. This truly made my day!
