Courtney goes into the mineshaft with a loaded gun to save Becky; Officer Dubois is right behind her as backup.

Then Courtney receives a phone call. The voice isn’t the male voice, but a robotic voice. The caller teased and taunted her. He was trying to blame her, putting it in her head that everyone else was blaming her.

While Courtney is tracing the clues, she gets a phone call. The only thing she hears is the cackling of someone on the other end of the line. The voice is telling her that she’s looking in the wrong area, to look in the cemetery.

Ghost friend, Katherine is following Courtney and knows that Courtney is in trouble as Casey has her.

What will Courtney do to find the kidnapper? Will Courtney offer herself up as bait and end the issue with catching kidnapper? Is Courtney trapped and life in danger? What does Katherine do to help Courtney?

Taken 5 Boxset: Officer Courtney Morgan - a review by Rosemary Kenny.

Consisting of all 6 novellas in the Taken Crime Thriller Series 5: Officer Courtney Morgan, Anabel Bright cleverly combines Courtney's new career as a detective in Homicide, throughout which further horrors are revealed and the danger from deranged, homicidal members of her wider family become her whole focus.

In order they are:
The End
Is It Really The End?
It Will Never Be Over
Casey Gordon
Not All Are Dead and
Officer Down.

A riveting value-for-money collection that you absolutely must not miss.

I enjoyed this series. There was a lot of suspense, twists and turns. I believe about the 3rd series in, it was getting easier to figure out who the serial killers were than who their side kick were at times. Though there were always a suprising twist or two.

Courtney's life never seemed to be here own. After being kidnapped as a young child she was kept in a dungeon her entire life with little to eat or drink with other little girls. All the little girls had blond hair and blue eyes except for Courtney, who had brown hair and brown eyes.

Courtney was returned home as a teen. Unsure why. When she finally talked and got the police on board she went back to rescue her best friend Kathrine who she shared a cell with all those years. But Kathrine had not been spared.

Kathrine came to her as a spirit and only Courtney could see her. She became her assistant and conscience at times, through the series and was almost always by her side helping her every step of the way.

The one thing that got a little old is that one person could have so many psychos in a family that would continue to carry on one another's sick work.

Courtney's growth was the confidence in herself throughout the series.
Sadly, she was constantly waiting for the next girl to be taken; always blond hair, blue eyes.. She was the one that went in as a civilian and ran the show with the police listening to Courtney's directives and Kathrine at her side.

Even in the end as an officer of the law she did things her way. She wanted to save her childhood friend, (blond hair, blue eyes) and stop the madness which in the back of her mind she still wasn't positive the case wasn't related to her sick family in some way. She still hadn't learned to work well with others or to trust anyone but Kathrine. The final book in the series left it open to move in to a new series with Courtney moving up into an FBI task force. The killer still on the loose with a note left behind for Courtney telling her this is not over it will never be over.

This is an intense thriller involving kidnapping and a lot of mystery. It is also the fifth season/series with these characters. While it is not necessary to have read the earlier series, it will provide more depth to this story.

Each story is written as a serial, so it is good that this is the complete collection. The story is very well written and highly engaging with a mystery that drew me in right from the start and kept me turning pages for any hints of what is going on. The story involves some dark moments and is rather intense, so be prepared for that going in. Once you get started, you won't want to stop.

Highly recommended.
