“Less than an hour spent with you, Layla, and I was obsessed.”
He caught me spying on my enemies and could've had me killed. Instead, he says he wants to help. To give me a future, freedom, and most of all, revenge. I want that, too. I want everything he has to give… even though I know he’s hiding something.
I grew up around men like Matthew Langston—rich, powerful, above the law. He’s dangerous and a whole lot of trouble. But when he treats me like a goddess, worshipping the ground I walk on, the fear for my future doesn’t exist.
Until I learn who he really is.
They say love hurts—but they never mentioned it could make you bleed.
His deceit was like wine. I drank it in. Let it intoxicate me. But he’s not the man I fell for. Matthew Langston is a lie.
I’d run from him if I could. I’d flee. If only he hadn’t turned my family against me. Now, I have nothing. No money, phone, or external support. Only him, and his determination to win me back.
So I’ll use it to my advantage. I’ll use him. Because he made a promise to help me get revenge on those we despise. And once that’s over, so are we.
The complete duet of Layla and Matthew’s seductively thrilling story. Includes Seeking Vengeance and Ruthless Redemption.
This is the complete duet and includes both books, Seeking Vengeance and Ruthless Redemption. It is Matthew (a/k/a Dante) and Layla's story. These are the most recent books in the Hunting Her series by Eden Summers.
I have two issues with this story...things that made no sense to me. 1. Dante/Matthew left his family because of something his father did, but that was just the final straw. Prior to that he had already resented/hated his father for the things he'd made him do and the control he wielded over him. He had wanted out of that criminal lifestyle. So why didn't hate his uncle Lorenzo (also head of his own crime family) who had him do some awful things for him too? 2. Layla can't blame him for what his family did to her as he'd been long gone and not had any contact with them for many years when those events occurred. She admits that if he'd revealed his former identity, she would have walked away not looking back. His reasons for keeping it from her until he was more sure of her and her feelings for him, were understandable... so in my opinion, it took way too long for her to forgive him. But maybe I'm just a more understanding and forgiving person.
Other than the above, this was a great story with multi dimensional characters. Matthew and Layla's paths differed, yet they had much in common. They came from similar background and shared a common enemy though for different reasons. It was inevitable they would come together, each filling a need the other had. But there are many outside forces against them and forgiveness must come before they can come together to deal with those and be safe.
This is a story where the H falls hard in the beginning and is not afraid to show it. Some characters in this book have already had their own story told in previous books by this author. I haven't read those yet, but I might have liked/understood those particular characters more if I had. I did love her daughter...she's smart, spunky and resilient. This is 4 stars for me.
This is the complete duet of Layla and Matthew’s seductively thrilling story. A chance meeting or was it? Layla is the black sheep of a crime family located in Portland. Matthew is based out of Washington DC. They meet one night and a smoldering starts. Both are hiding secrets from each other. Neither wants to let their guard down. Layla is keeping her secrets close to her heart because she doesn't want anyone else hurt in her life. Fireworks explode, worlds collide, and trust is lost!!!
So many other awesome characters, that I hope their stories will be written in the future. Bishop, Matthew's confidante, and longtime friend, Stella, Layla's daughter, Sal and Remy (they are prominent in the second book), and let's, not forget Emmanuel.
These two books have love, obsession, sadness, violence, and so much more! I sat up most nights during the holiday break reading, I would look at the time and would be like "oh no" I have been reading that long!
Here are some of my favorite quotes: Seeking Vengeance
They made it easy for me to win her over. She’ll never dare to walk away when I continue to treat her like a queen.
“We don’t have time, amore mio.”“Time for what?” I purr. “For that look in your eye.”
“I’d die for you, amore mio.” I retreat and turn for Emmanuel’s room. “But for the love of God, I’d prefer not to do it today.”
“No,” I answer simply. “What I feel for her doesn’t represent the whimsical BS people brag about.”
“She destroys me. Rips me apart and leaves me weak. Every thought I have is savaged by her. Every breath is tainted with her scent. What I feel for her is more than the BS of love. It’s something you wouldn’t understand and couldn’t comprehend.”
Ruthless Redemption Why am I playing house with homicidal Adam and psycho Eve?”
Wow, I just realized I was so caught up in Ruthless Redemption that I didn't highlight more!!! That's how awesome these two books are.
Author Eden Summers has continued to do what I love most – write books that literally grab you by the throat and hold you hostage until the last work is read. True story.
What an amazing surprise to finally hear from Layla Torian-Hart, older sister of the seemingly psychotic mafia boss, Cole Torian, a man whom I’d held no regard for until Ms Summers blessed her readers with his duet within the deeply captivating Hunting Her series. She has a gift of writing from the POV of a character who is so psychotic that he would have no redeeming romantic features, and turning him into a favourite hero. And in SEEKING VENGEANCE, the first book of the HUNTING series, a spin off from our much admired and loved mafia characters, we get to hear from Layla.
I was sad to have got to the end of the Hunting Her series, and am now rapt that it wasn’t a goodbye, merely a see-you-later-in-a-slightly-different-setting kind of thing, and Layla is completely different to how I’d envisaged her. From the moment we met Layla, married to Benji Hart, one of Torian’s soldiers and living in a mansion dripping with dirty money, I’d figured she was a shallow typical mafia wife. We’d read about her and Benji’s apparent betrayal from Torian’s POV, the kidnapping of their daughter and Cole’s younger brother, and Benji’s subsequent murder in the rescue of the kids. I just wanted to know ‘why???’ It was now time to hear from Layla herself.
Ms Summers gave us that answer, and I found it so easy to forgive her, yet I knew her brother wouldn’t, and because of the personal consequences to her family, she couldn’t forgive either. This book, SEEKING VENGEANCE can be read as a stand-a-lone, but does pick up two years after the end of Cole’s book, the last in the Hunting Her series.
It is also all kinds of hot and romantic. The absolute passion and all encompassing unconditional attention was what Layla had been missing, and alpha male Matthew Langston was the one to provide it for her. Material provisions be damned, the chemistry between these two was everything. Imagine feeling like this:
“I want to be protected. Not by an overbearing brother, but by an adoring, passionate lover. I want more of this giddy feeling in my stomach. I want freedom and happiness and a fresh slate.”
And what an absolute powerful male Matthew was. Possessive without being obsessive, rough but not cruel, and protectively jealous without being vindictive. All these made the for the perfect romantic hero and he was everything.
While the first book did end on a cliff-hanger, with this duet you are saved from the pain because the second book, RUTHLESS REDEMPTION picked up exactly where SEEKING VENGEANCE finished with such a kicker cliff-hanger that my heart completely ripped in two at the exposure of a deep betrayal that might well be the end of Matthew’s love and life as he knows it. 💔💣💥 He’s made a deal with the devil himself, Cole Torian, and Layla Torian-Hart sees it as the most brutal betrayal of all. I had absolutely no idea what Ms Summers had going on with these two, but a seething and betrayed Layla was not feeling the love at all.
I also loved getting a little insight into the life that Matthew had pulled himself out of and the family he had turned his back on, making me admire him all the more – if that was possible. And I continue to be amazed at the talent of Ms Summer’s writing where we find out just what type of man he is and has been, and it turns out that we love him even more!?! Also, how is it that Matthew’s love for Layla and his next-level-obsession to earn her forgiveness doesn’t cause ‘stalker-alert’ alarms to be fiercely ringing in our heads?? The gift of writing, that’s why.
As for Layla not feeling the love in her current situation, that was an understatement! The anger from her pretty much emanated from the virtual pages of RUTHLESS REDEMPTION. She was vibrating with so much fury and vitriol that I feared she would soon lose one of the best things that could ever happen in her life. This brings me to Stella, Layla’s daughter who gave Matthew her absolute seal of approval. She was an absolute gem and had such a mature head on her shoulders that belied her years.
And Bishop!!!!! *fanning myself* I loved him! He was every bit as growly and alpha as Matthew and also had such a dirty mouth and dry sense of humour. What a man! Dangerously deadly, loyal to a fault and hiding a passion so deep it’s going to take one helluva feisty woman a month of Sunday’s to chip away at his armour. I’d definitely love to see more of him.
I’m also hoping that this Hunting Duet is a lead into Matthew’s family because his brothers will have a tale to tell of extreme control and torment, and I can’t even imagine what their sister Abri’s story will entail.
If you haven’t gathered by now that I absolutely loved the SEEKING VENGEANCE / RUTHLESS REDEMPTION Duet, then I’ll put here that it deserves so much more than the measly 5-Star maximum allowed. This duet is a must-read / re-read and one that I’m earnestly recommending. I’m sure you’ll love it 💔💣💥
This duet was drawn out to me and it wasn’t immersive. If I can fall asleep and wake up with the story still playing and I Don’t feel like I missed anything… Not much is happening. It wasn’t for me.
What a way to start a new series! This new story by Eden Summers sees Layla, whose situation relating to the Torian Family business is touched upon in previous books, meet Matthew Langston, a seemingly upfront businessman in a city she visits from time to time. Even though Seeking Vengeance is the first in The Hunting Series, it progresses seamlessly from The Hunting Her series with Layla seeking retribution for the death of her husband. Layla’s back story is written into the narrative in the form of flashback chapters and it works so well within the telling of Layla & Matthew’s burgeoning relationship. Both Layla & Matthew are keeping things from each other for their own reasons, however, their instant chemistry cannot be ignored, and the subsequent fallout of their explosive desire threatens to rip apart the fragile hope beginning to blossom for Layla. This story has subtle tells, however, Eden is very clever in the way she has shadowed those little glory moments, which makes you keep thinking until the truth is finally revealed. An emotional, passionate and exciting read that culminates in a testosterone driven showdown that leaves us breathlessly wanting and needing more...more...more!!! Another hit out of the ballpark for Eden Summers. 5 Stars
Ruthless Redemption:
I must preface this review by stating that Layla was not a character that I particularly wanted or needed a story for and have found it quite hard to excuse her transgressions (that we learn about in previous books). However, in the first installment of this duet, Seeking Vengeance, we got to see the inside workings of Layla’s thoughts and deeds and I got a taste for her as a flawed, troubled woman who is deserving of consideration as a genuine heroine. And then of course, we were introduced to Matthew and any doubts I had for a memorable story about this couple were pummeled into dust! Layla and Matthew’s story is an engrossing and captivating piece of writing. This story involves characters that are some of the most lovable and entertaining individuals you will meet i.e., Bishop and Matthew, along with ones that one not necessarily wants to like, but the author has been able to capture a sympathetic ideal for the reader to attach their empathy to. This book has some slightly dark content, however, for me, these scenes were necessary for the plot development as well as the burgeoning relationships between Layla and those closest to her, and in addition, for the growth of each individual character involved. Ruthless Redemption has scenes that hit a powerful punch! At certain times, you can genuinely feel the anguish exploding from the pages. The chemistry between Layla and Matthew is tormentingly flammable and you can practically feel the heat radiating through as you behold the words before your eyes. Manipulation in all its forms helps drive this story to its completion. Layla has been exploited, controlled and influenced by those closest to her…her father, her husband and to a degree her brother. Layla craves love and acceptance and the men in her life have used that desperation to manipulate her into doing things that can be considered reprehensible. Matthew is no different. However, Matthew…oh Matthew, you delightfully wicked, provocative, tantalising Dio you… seductively manipulates Layla’s feelings in a way that for a woman like me, is sometimes hard to handle, however, it certainly makes for a wonderfully delicious, suspenseful tug of war between the couple as to who will eventually give in. I loved how the author allowed Matthew to be vulnerable and to have that vulnerability be a strength rather than a weakness. His devotion to Layla is deep and soulful and his use of Italian, interspersed throughout the narrative, created passion and an intimacy that not only set out to seduce Layla but also had that desired effect on this reader as well. The engaging and sometimes outlandishly comical banter between Bishop and Layla; Bishop and Matthew; Bishop and Salvatore & Remy….uummmm…you sensing a theme here???...leads to some very compulsive reading. I wholeheartedly recommend this absorbing and grippingly seductive story….it has cemented itself into my top read by Eden Summers and this couple as one of the most entertaining lovers written. 5 AWESOME STARS!!!!!!
TWO AMAZING READS IN ONE BOX SET!!! MATTHEW IS AS MYSTERIOUS AS HE IS SEXY AND LAYLA NEEDS FORGIVENESS AFTER SHE BETRAYS HER FAMILY. A TOTAL PAGE TURNER YOU WON'T SOON FORGET!!!
SEEKING VENGEANCE
Layla is on a mission and her objective is the Costa family. She needs vindication and believes this would help her regain the trust of her brother Cole and the family. Losing her husband was just the beginning. When they took her daughter Stella and her younger brother Tobias, it was all she could do to keep it together. When Cole returned with the children and she learned of her husband's murder, she vowed to send the Costa's to h*ll, one by one. Layla betrayed her family and her husband Benji paid the price for that betrayal. When Matthew spies Layla spying on his target, he's impressed and interested. He begins to use his charm to get Layla where he wants her, in his bed. He needs to learn why she is interested in the Costa family. Matthew will soon learn that Layla is the keeper of many secrets. Matthew has secrets of his own, some that may even be worse than that of a Torian. HOLY F%#$&!!!!! WTH! I DID NOT SEE THAT COMING! ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT!!! WHAT A WILD RIDE! THIS BOOK WAS AMAZING! ALL CONSUMING STORY THAT WILL LEAVE YOU DAZED AND CRAZED AND BEGGING FOR MORE!!!! I CAN'T WAIT!!! THIS BOOK IS AN ABSOLUTE MUST READ!!!!
RUTHLESS REDEMPTION
Layla's betrayal almost tore her family apart and she's been paying for it ever since. But nothing compares to what she's gotten herself into now. Sharing a bed to get info on the enemy and maybe even falling for said enemy was one thing, but failing the mission was not an option especially when the Torian family had washed their hands clean after the mess Layla had made. Layla is now on her own making decisions she never had to before. One decision seems to be biting her in the 4$$ and it goes by the name Matthew Langston. When she learns who he really is, she realizes the mess she's in and the betrayal stings. Everyone wants a piece of Matthew, especially Layla, and not in a good way. She's hell bent on revenge. She just needs to get to him before his family, oh and of course her brother Cole. Matthew has made many mistakes throughout his life, most of them by choice, most unredeemable. Layla would be different. He'd prove himself worthy of her. Sure he was ruthless and possessive when it came to her, but this time none of that mattered. The only thing that mattered to Matthew was protecting Layla and making her his. HOLY-SMOKING-HOT-MOLY!!! THIS BOOK IS HOT, RAW AND FILTHY IN ALL THE BEST WAYS🔥 I WAS TOTALLY BLOWN AWAY! HIGH INTENSITY RIGHT OUT OF THE GATE! AN ENTERTAINING AND ALL CONSUMING STORY WHICH HAD ME HOOKED AND INTRIGUED FROM THE START! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK!!!
Seeking Vengeance: The beauty of this series is how a character you might hate, that you feel like is selfish and greedy, can suddenly show you that you don’t know that character at all. Layla took me on that journey in this story. She betrayed her family by believing her father but what I learned is all I thought I knew was the surface, just a glimpse at her life. As she pursues revenge on the Costas family that took her husband from her, she crosses paths with Matthew. Now Matthew is a wonderfully suave and sexy alpha male that is captivated by Layla’s strength and confidence but he also sees a vulnerability that he wants to protect. For Layla, trusting anyone outside the family is a huge risk but she feels like an outcast, that everyone hates her, so Matthew offers her acceptance and caring, something she is missing in her life. With Stella at boarding school, Layla’s void is even greater and having someone show her affection and caring is foreign to her so she takes the risk but has to keep who she really is a secret. As these two get closer, how long will secrets remain secret? Can they really have a chance at love and happiness without honesty? What will happen if Layla’s secrets are revealed? So much to uncover and love about this story but you need to read it to find out all the juicy and amazing twists.
Ruthless Redemption: Oh wow. Matthew and Layla deserve love and happiness given all the challenges that they have both endured. Layla struggles with allowing herself to be happy, carrying so much guilt over choices she made to get her father’s love and approval. Matthew is determined to fight through all the walls and challenges Layla sets to prove he loves her and that she deserves that love. Of course, in their world, the challenges of their families and long held grudges will conspire against them. Will they find a way to fight all those forces and embrace the love they found? Stella, Layla’s daughter, is wonderful as a match maker for her mom. Such a bright light in all the darkness as she gets to know Matthew and encourages her mom that it’s ok to be happy. Being from mafia families, nothing is ever easy and boy, were there several unexpected twists in this intense journey.
Seeking Vengeance: Cliffhanger ending. This is best enjoyed after the Hunting Her series. Layla is in a bad place in life after the past events and very alone. Matthew is slightly better off, but just slightly. They are drawn together and have intense physical chemistry. They both have a lot of family drama they hide. She makes some really bad decisions out of fear and self-preservation, but he is very determined. I like that we get both points of view because I think it really added depth to the story to be able to see how they both feel and think.
Ruthless Redemption: I give 4.5 stars. I would have given 5 stars, but I thought some parts went on a little too long. Picks up right after after the ending of book 1. Layla is in a bad place in the fallout of book 1. Matthew is also in a bad place. They are caused by the same thing—Matthew’s lying. He hates how he has hurt her and she wants to hate him and thinks it was all a lie. Later when she tells about how she feels in regards to how she has been treated by her family and husband, it really is heartbreaking. She has felt rejected by literally everyone but her child. Matthew’s main purpose in life becomes winning her back. He has his work cut out for him and then some. There is a lot going on with the families that has a lot of bearing on them together. I am really interested to see if Abri ends up with a certain someone who rode to her rescue. All in all, there is a lot of emotion, a lot of funny bits (especially with Bishop—his reactions to Layla and Matthew are hysterical), a line toed that I really didn’t see coming until it was happening, and a lot of family and FAMILY drama.
SEEKING VENGEANCE 4.5 Stars This is book 1 in the Hunting Duet series (related to the Hunting Her series) and it features Layla, Cole’s sister, and Matthew Langston. WHAT A RIDE THIS STORY HAS BEEN! The love between Layla and Matthew is all consuming. It far surpasses what us mere mortals think of as love. That is until the UNBELIEVABLY clever plot twists start happening. This story does end in a sort of cliffhanger but the outcome is ALWAYS well worth it. This story is brilliant! As always, the characters are top notch. Layla is a little irritating. Her rage has blinded her. She’s selfish. She makes stupid mistakes and constantly puts herself in danger.
RUTHLESS REDEMPTION 5 Stars This is book 2 in the Hunting Duet series and it features Matthew and Layla. Their beginning was beautiful and scorching…until she found out who he really was. Now, he has a limited amount of time to get her to forgive him. To say it is an extremely difficult task is a gross understatement. She is a Torian after all. His love for her is obsessive and can be a little disturbing. Although I am a little concerned about his need to keep that little knife in his pocket.
BRAVO! This author has written a most compelling, suspenseful, thrilling, and action packed romance! The climax was a giant plot twist! The characters were very well developed and the story line was complete! I genuinely felt Layla’s erratic emotions. Her guilt over pretty much all aspects of her life is all consuming.
SEEKING VENGEANCE Such a good read! It was full of emotions, untold secrets, some humour and some very hot scenes. I loved how Layla and Matthew first met and the mysteriousness both characters were giving off. Although I read bits and pieces about Layla throughout Eden’s Hunting Her series, I loved getting to know her character even more in this story. And Matthew… just wow, that guy knows what he’s doing *fans self*. I really enjoyed the caring side to him when he was with Layla but when that dominant alpha side of his came out… love!! I can’t wait to read what happens next especially after that little tidbit at the end!
RUTHLESS REDEMPTION Simply an amazing book 2 in the Hunting Duet! I don’t think these characters and their story could be any more perfect, I loved it from page one right to the very end. This book had its aww moments, some very amusing scenes and a whole lot of angsty Matthew that I absolutely loved. I just enjoyed these characters so much and the connections/relationships they all had in their own way with each other (Layla and Bishop?! I wanted to see more there!). I really didn’t want this book to end after getting closer to the ending. I wasn’t ready finish Layla and Matthew’s story but I can’t wait to see what else (if) there is to come.
omg Matthew is amazing, This is a spin off from the Hunting Her series and we see some previous characters pop up in just the right amount, i am totally in love with Matthew he is everything you need, edgy with a very dark past, romantic in his own way, domineering protective, sexy, after the last book of the hunting her series (cole) i was not sure how i would feel about reading Layla's story, she's still not one of my favourites but i now have a better understanding about why she did what she did, while i still dont want to forgive her i am OK with her finding happiness (although mostly i want Matthew to find peace and happiness), i cant wait for the rest of the seise,
Ruthless Redemption
i loved this book, while i might not be Layla's biggest fan (if you read the previous book you will know why) but shes growing on me, seeing her more vulnerable side helps, Layla and Matthew are a great couple, the book at its heart is about redemption for more than just Layla and Matthew, there is so much passion plus twist and turns throughout, i enjoyed discovering new depths to characters such as bishop and Stella, the book had a great ending and i cant wait for the next book in the series,
I love that we see past characters from the hunting her series, i love this family.. An unexpected meeting is going to cause chaos when two worlds collide and if that doesn't make you want to read it, i don't know what will, if you read the hunting her series you will know alot about these men already. I loved everything about this book. If you love your men ruthless and possessive you're going to love this. I could put it down, I was on the edge of me seat with my heart in my mouth throughout. Eden has taking it to an awe inspiring new level, this book is a whole new rhelm of amazing
Ruthless Redemption
I was incredibly excited to get back into this world, if you think seeking vengeance was good then you're in for a treat with this one because Eden has gone above and beyond anything I could have imagined. This one goes straight in with Cole and Matthew, instantly the blood starts flowing the angsts at top notch, that set precedence for the rest of the book, I was on the edge of my seat, will they, won't they. The action and intensity, the chemistry and lies, the emotional turmoil made my head spin. I absolutely loved it!
There is so much on the line with both characters in this book, and their chemistry is hot like molten lava. They will become one of your favorite couples ever.
Seeking Vengeance
Oh, what secrets! I love that we get another book that builds with the family we met in the Hunting Her series. The strong seduction of Matthew and Layla from the onset of their first meeting consumes the pages. Their story burns so hot that you know their secrets can only act as gasoline to the impending blaze. Definitely twists and turns that never played in my mind before they were revealed. Brilliant and oh so alluring!
Ruthless Redemption
So Amazing! Matthew raises the bar and turns up the heat so high in this book, I think he hits in the top ten most favorite book boyfriends. The heartache and trauma for both Matthew and Layla is so real your heart and head can’t quite take all the emotions and feels, but you do because you have to know what’s next! If you love a book that makes you live the journey along the way, this is definitely a must read. You feel it all!
Seeking Vengeance - Incredible story! This is not a book that I could devour. This one had to be savored. I loved Matthew Langston so much, and then he shattered my heart! My favorite part was the conversation between Matthew and Cole.
Ruthless Redemption - My feelings are all over the place with this book. As I was reading chapter 1, I really wanted Layla to find her HEA with Matthew because Cole is always so mean to her. I couldn't read the first quarter of the book very quickly because Matthew and Layla's feelings toward each other were too much to take in at once. All that said, I did end the book with a smile. Surprisingly, Bishop was my favorite character. He was the voice of reason in getting Matthew and Layla back together, and he was protective of both of them. At one point, I thought they'd have a threesome! I crossed my fingers and hoped! LOL My favorite part was the whole scene when Layla made dinner and they are eating.
This book was good I would have liked to have given it more stars but Layla was annoying character in this book she was wishy-washy and she would make up conversations and situations in her head without talking the situations through people that were involved she get herself in deeper situations it was she just wanted to leave I got to leave that was like her thing she had trust issues but Matthew was hot he had an obsession with Layla from the minute he set eyes on her their chemistry was off the charts and the secrets they both hidden and Matthew was good at hiding his secrets but when they came to head Layla couldn't get over Matthew secrets but hers was just as bad and she acted like a child..the ending of the duet when it just really started to get to the end it just ends I was like did I miss something there was so much left to explain and find out what happens I was upset they way i was like wth?? This duet needs a follow up so annoying the ending.
So, two books in this: Seeking Vengeance and Ruthless Redemption. The first leads straight into the second and really keeps the action growing. The reveal of who Matthew really was wasn't something I saw coming. I'd had an inkling but had tamed down my own ideas so that was a nice surprise to find out. The action, drama and spice is captivating. It's relatively fast paced which I loved. There's a lot going on but with how fast it is it doesn't feel like your being dragged along. The ending wasn't 100% for me. I understand why it was that way but I wish that it could have been flipped for who got revenge in the end. Overall, it was a nice read. This story was a great overall arc that wrapped up everything nicely and didn't leave me feeling like there were any loose ends. If you like a fast paced mafia romance then it's definitely one for the tbr. Favourite Quote - I’ve decided I prefer carnage to apathy. Favourite Character - Stella
It’s been a while since I’ve written a review for a book. But this series has been so superb that I couldn’t help myself. Eden Summers is amazing at hilarious banter between MCs that I find myself laughter out loud while reading. As soon as I think I’ve found a favorite MC she introduces another with whom I fall in love. I still love Torian/Anissa and now Matthews/Laylas stories the most. The voyeur kink that she introduced in Layla/Matthews story was SOFA KING hot. That was a kink I didn’t even know I had WHEWWWW. I hope she spins this and writes a book where Bishop and Abri end up together. I wouldn’t even mind a book about Salvatore and Remy. I’m invested in these characters now lol. Great book and easily my favorite read of 2022. It’s going to be hard to top this one for sure.
This was my first experience with mafia romance, and all I can say is WOW. I have been missing out! I love the darkness, the possessive emotions of the characters, all the scheming and lying, and the spice 👌🏻
This was a serious rollercoaster of emotions, in one breath everything is bliss, and in the next the rug has been pulled out from under it all. And that plot twist in the first book! Holy gods. I did not see that coming. It’s amazing how everything clicks into place when one teeny piece of information is revealed.
This author did an amazing job at expressing the feelings of the characters, building tension for the plot, and creating a dark underworld for the characters.
I read this in preparation for this authors next book which releases next month, and I seriously need it to be in my hands right now!
I could not put this book down. Loved it from start to finish. Layla seems to be a weak character constantly put down by her family. However she is really so strong it just needs a little coaxing from the right person to see who she truly is. Matthew is the opposite. People think he's a strong, scary, cold, unfeeling person. There's a good reason for this but it's not really who he is deep down inside. Both have secrets, secrets that would drown lesser people. The attraction & chemistry between the two is obvious but can they overcome their fears, secrets & families to be together? I'd love another book on these 2 as I'd like to see where they go next & how things will work between their families.
Fantastic series, Wow, what a read. I loved every page of this exciting story and continuation from seeking vengeance. This story was fast paced and steamy. Matthew and Layla make a perfect couple, both stubborn and passionate. We get to find out more about Mathews family and Remy and Salvatore kind of redeemed themselves, so I would like a story about them along with Bishop and Abri. Cole my previous favourite has been taken over by Matthew. Matthew was head over heels for Layla and I liked that she didn’t give in to him straight away. Stella also showed herself to be full of character. A fast paced story which o thoroughly recommend and has left me wanting more.
This mafia romance duet is fueled by an abundance of secrets and sexual tension between Layla Hart and Matthew Langston, the lead characters. Add this powerful mix to the hatred they share for a common enemy, and things get a whole lot more interesting. The alternation of all-out action with intensely sensual intimate moments makes this book a thrill ride.
I enjoyed watching Layla and Matthew dance around each other while keeping their full identities hidden from each other. Matthew's obsession with Layla is instant and inexplicable. His attraction is overwhelming, and he pulls no stops to win her over. Layla is fiercely independent and intent upon getting vengeance for unspeakable crimes committed against her family. She is adamant about atoning for mistakes that she has made. For Layla, Matthew is not just an irresistible male presence. He is also a means to help her accomplish a goal that will redeem her social standing in her family circle.
It was obvious that this book was interconnected with others because there were many references to people who appeared to have deeper stories and a familiarity to Layla that went beyond the action in this story. However, I did not have trouble reading, following,or enjoying this book as a stand-alone.
Seeking Vengence also contains some fun supporting characters and several surprises that keep the story interesting and unique. Eden Summers has done. Good job of bringing in readers who are new to this mafia world while building on the foundation that readers who are familiar with this world. I look forward to reading the next book, which continues the shenanigans between Layla and Matthew. I also will enjoy going back to read the stories of some of the other colorful characters in this series.
Ruthless Redemption is a thrilling conclusion doe Matthew and Layla's story. They must overcome Matthew's betrayal and Layla 's trust issues. In the process, each must define who they are as individuals and who they are as a couple.
The action was non-stop with many surprises along the way. I enjoyed the plot twists created by shifting loyalties. Trying to guess who was actually working to help reach the end goal was nerve-wracking and ever so much fun.
I enjoyed the drama and suspense of it all. There was laughter, much anger, and sorrow along the journey. The romance that flourished despite the danger is remarkable. There were also some hints dropped that will make for an exciting next installment to this Hunting Her Series.
I absolutely loved this duet!!! A couple of twists I didn’t see coming, I haven’t read all of the previous stories however it didn’t detract from this story or make me feel like anything was missing. The book really made me feel so many things, I laughed, I cried in parts, the writer really drew me in and I read both within a day I just couldn’t put it down. I’d love to know more of what happens for them in the future and where they go together and for supporting characters as well. Amazing read and would read again ❤️
The story itself should be a five star. It was intense, as many mafia stories often are, and the chemistry between Layla and Matthew sizzles. I like Eden Summers' writing, and this was no exception; however, IMO this was a long, big buildup to an abrupt, somewhat flat ending with some loose ends. At least a nice epilogue would have made this duet more satisfying. I don't feel like I wasted my time reading this because I was really into the story right to the end. It's just that the conclusion was a bit of a letdown.
This duet is a reasonable read the characters are okay and the storyline interesting. There is a lot going on and the chemistry between Matthew and Layla is red hot there is a downside and although both of these characters have a great deal of emotional baggage I have to say that Layla is quite annoying her behaviour doesn't make sense and she comes over as pathetic and weak especially as she comes from a criminal family. It is a good read even if a little annoying at times.
My first books that are mafia romance and WOW. I AM OBSESSED. Michael 💔❤️ I just love him.
The plot & characters had be hooked from the very beginning. It was all things explosive, passionate & gripping. I giggled, gasped & blushed!
I need the physical copies in my life asap so I can keep him close 🙈😅
I don’t know how I can go on living knowing that he is fictional 🫠 Eden Summers you have changed my life. I cannot wait to read the rest of the series from the start!
Eden Summers has done it again with the Seeking Redemption duet, leaving me riveted by the danger, drama, betrayal and some seriously hot chemistry between Layla and Matthew as they battle against and for each other and the chance for a future… and some soul-searching by Layla. More to come I’m sure with Matthew’s brothers and sister. At least I hope… I’m not ready to say goodbye…
I absolutely loved this book. Great storyline, not a run of your mill, usual mafia type storyline, some totally unexpected plot twists, all the main characters were relevant and likeable. I literally didn’t put this book down till I had finished it,and I will be carrying on with the series. One of the best mafia books I have read in a very long time!
I honestly can't believe I read the whole duet, for that "ending." There's no resolution to multiple issues brought forth in this book and some of the issues were vague enough that, as a reader, you wonder why they're even brought up. Maybe the author ran out of steam, but an epilogue would go a long way.
Loved loved loved the first book. Second book I felt she was just a spoiled brat whom needed a good spanking to get her head on straight. I honestly did not finish it because I was tired of the tantrum..
This duet has been a rollercoaster of emotions. I have had the chills, I have cried my eyes out, I have even laughed at times, I have also swoon. The drama within and between the families, made Layla and Mathew's story a powerful one that made the books definite page-turners.
