Now this is what I am talking about, finally we are going somewhere and there's meat in them bones, still that concept of essence is..... just swirling around, at least we have some progress and the story just got a bit better.......

Hope Book 5 is not another letdown...

These books are a great read and definitely a fantasy lovers book but sometimes they lack the realism of basics like eating and sleeping. The characters go on long journeys with no supplies etc. The other drawback is the amount of missing words, incorrect words and basic grammar mistakes. Minor irritations to some maybe but a 5* review needs this for me.

Dragon Heart is the fourth book in the Blood of the Ancients Series by Dan Michaelson & D.K. Holmberg - it is an epic fantasy, with a coming-of-age adventure, and high-stakes heroism. We follow Rob, a young man who, unlike most of his people, is not transformed by the mystical “firewater” meant to strengthen warriors against the valley’s deadly threats. This twist sets him on a path of self-discovery, resilience, and unexpected power.
The authors craft a vivid setting filled with dangerous creatures, ancient mysteries, and a tangible sense of history. The lore surrounding the “dragon forged” and the valley’s threats is original, intriguing, and quite richly detailed.
Each book builds momentum, balancing action with quieter, emotional moments. The stakes escalate naturally, keeping me invested the whole way through.
The series leans into familiar fantasy tropes, so seasoned readers might predict some plot threads – but they still deliver an engrossing read.
Happy Reading…

I continue to enjoy the direction this series is going and how the characters are progressing, although I still feel the pacing is slow and the dialogue is repetitive and somewhat stilted.

The apparent "hero" of the story continues to push to learn more about himself, who he is, and what he is capable of. He tends to do this by being reckless and throwing himself into unsafe situations most often. One of his companions truly seems to want to help him learn and improve himself while the other one basically became non-existent in this book, for some reason rarely ever being mentioned.

The action picked up in this book, making things more interesting to a degree, although the scenes tended to become repetitive with our "hero" typically using the same exact technique over and over for every fight

As the hero progresses in book 5 I am hoping to see him progress even more and learn some new skills.

Rob is using his new ice powers to cleanse the Spread and create an ice army to protect against it. But a group of the Borderlands people don’t trust him. In the process he drinks enough Ice essence to advance to Dragon Heart.

Footnote: 1) There are many more editing errors (missing, wrong and extra words, etc.) as previous book. Also who is Boor on page 88. 2) The character names are very real-world sounding and could be a little ‘stranger’.

Fave scenes: Rob consulting with Maggie, Boris’s maze, Rob fighting the large artic cat and learning about snow.

Fantastic story

Very interesting plot and well told, i havent been able to put it down. The only recommendations would be to have better proofreading. There are several mistakes throughout the 4 books I've read so far. The author also repeats various facts frequently throughout the books, as if the reader would forget so quickly. For example, it constantly reminding the reader that the dragon queen is a dragon soul.

Wow

With every page the excitement builds. I need the next book now! I'm not quite what the ending is you g to be. I think I would really like to meet this Dragon queen and find what she is really about. Her mystery just gets deeper. And then there's the sultan a d finally the ice king. Are they all going to meet or is Rob going to handle everything? I can't wait to find out.

this series gets better and better, really enjoyable!!!!

Congratulations to D.K. Holmberg and Dan Michaelson for this amazing series. Ibt’s extremely hard to find such interesting and exciting authors who not only write intelligently but also provide top rated plots, characters and excitement in the stories. I’m really looking forward to the next book!

Great series!

I really love the books so far. My only two criticisms would be the numerous grammatical errors, and how often some topics get repeated. Hoping to see those getting fixed as the writer progresses through the books. Either way, I enjoy them and would recommend to anyone who enjoys the magical fantasy genre.

Great Saga

Love the characters in this story. The author has excellent continuity and is among the great storytellers. You get a strong grasp of this world right away in book one. And as you travel this world you experience it as you were standing with the characters in their fight.

This is quite an enjoyable series but the grammatical and typographical errors is very jarring. There is constant ambiguity and that is also a challenge for me as the reader. It is quite a shame because the story is quite interesting and innovative.

Such a powerful voice. Good verses evil. Hope for the oppressed. We can change ourselves and others if we keep to the right path, making our world a better place one step at a time.

Again...

A fun read but the excessive redundancy is annoying. In addition the author keeps shifting between binary to non binary pronouns for the same characters. wicked distracting.

Easy Fantasy Read

Easy to read but has grammatical errors and tends to repeat things several times through the book. Wish author could elaborate more on what Rob is actually doing with his essence. Otherwise enjoyed

Nice story but....

Too repetitive, too many typos, too much filler text, looks like he never bothers proof reading his books. I'm done with this author.

A good series fast paced and entertaining.
However you need to get a new proof reader as the amount of missing words, wrong words, half words and grammatical errors is shocking for a published book.

I loved the story line and the book kept me engaged, however, I have discovered some spelling errors and places where words were left off of sentences which is a little aggravating. I think they were putting these books out so fast that they did not check for errors well. The farther I get along it seems the more mistakes I find. Doesn’t seem to affect the story though.
