Two grown people acting like teenagers. Dylan and Shep may be brainiacs but they sure lack when it comes to common sense and matters of the heart.
They say seeing is believing, but not here. Seeing what the mind conjures up led to a 10 year separation. And no, it wasn’t from miscommunication … not at all. It was from no communication, none at all. Shep saw something that that made doubt and disbelief reign. He was convinced Dylan was a cheat. And what he saw happened, but as always, there are two sides to a story.
They split up, going their separate ways and both wondering how it could happen. Both feeling the pain and wondering about the what ifs. Now, 10 years later its time to finally set the recond straight. It won’t be easy. They are too stubborn for that to happen, but page by page their story unfolds and the truth finally is known.

✒︎ Insecurities and false assumptions can ruin a life, a marriage, a family. Shep grew up in a broken home being tossed about from parent to parent. Watching him learn to overcome his childhood insecurities, which followed him into manhood. is rewarding.

This is a sweet, second chance Christian romance about two people who love each other but due to a HUGE misunderstanding have spent the last 10 years apart.
Shep is now a successful billionaire with his own business and partnered with two of his best friends from college. They are working on a project that is big and they have hit a roadblock so one of his partners takes it upon himself to bring in an expert to help them. Unfortunately, he brought in Dylan, Shep's college sweetheart and wife. But, no one but Dylan know they were married in secret because the marriage ended the following day when Shep was betrayed by Dylan. Shep had never forgotten her but he never could trust her again. Ten years later, neither of them have filed for divorce so legally they are still married.
Shep and Dylan have no family left, only good friends who want what's best for them. Can they give their love a second chance or should they finally cut their losses and move on?
This was a sweet, quick read with a happy ending. It was a clean and wholesome romance appropriate for any age.

Shep and Dylan, both having no family, married secretly just prior to graduation from college, but a misunderstanding the very next day tore them apart for the next ten years. Now Shep's business partner has, on his own, brought Dylan into their firm to help solve a huge problem. Dylan is also desperately hoping to straighten things out between her and Shep as well. That they love each other seems plain to everyone but them, and when an old friend unexpectedly drops in to visit, Shep again feels betrayed. These two have some work to do on their relationship, and Shep is going to have to resolve his trust issues.

Shep Roberts is working hard to fix a bug on a new product that he is developing and with his tight schedule of the fix, Denton his friend, who is also part owner, has called in Dylan Kendar to help with the fix as time is running out for the scheduled release. Shep is having a problem with her being called in as she had been his sweetheart whom he married all those years ago. Actually, they are still married but he didn’t tell anyone as the day after they were married, he caught her in the arms of a jock at school. He didn’t stop to think that he could have read it all wrong. Could they have a second chance? Working on the bug together, could they realize that they are still in love and are meant to be together?

Summer's Strength is a sweet romance revolving around the theme of second chances. Shepherd and Dylan were secretly married right out of college but didn't tell their friends. An incident shortly after caused their breakup. Ten years later they are forced to work together.
The story is filled with God's message of hope and love. I enjoyed the prayerful way both characters approached healing. Shepherd and Dylan's characters are interesting, well-developed and I felt like I knew them. The ending wrapped everything up nicely and I hated for it to end.

We are in Laurel Cove the the story on Shep. I love the Christian inspirational series and it didn’t disappoint when Dylan came to town. Their past is a mystery to everyone but Shep and his two besties. How he could of keep such a secret for so long is crazy. The short of it is can these two now work together even though they share a secret past? Will this all blow up in their gasses in the end? I guess you’ll have o read it to find out unless you read the spoilers or just know HEA are just about guaranteed lol. It’s worth the reading to know how it all started and all the in between. I was given an ARC an my review is based solely on my options.

Shep and Dylan let a misunderstanding and total lack of communication tear them apart. Now, due to some unexpected help from a friend they have a second chance to get it right this time. I loved this realistic story, how many times in life do we let our hurt or anger over something keeps us from resolving the situation and then find out later it all could have been avoided if we had just put our feelings aside and talked to the person about it. This book is not only a wonderful story but also inspirational and a reminder not to let what we think we see or feel keep us from trying to talk and work things out with our loved ones.

Ah, the trials and tribulations, tears and joys that are part of the true love journey. Yes, I loved my time within this short, easy-reading, story. I chuckled and my eyes leaked their saline solution, too. If expressions of faith turn you off, you may want to pass on this story. But faith is what sustains the main characters through their trials. Happy Reading ! !

I always enjoy reading books by Dora Hiers because she lets her Christian beliefs shine through her characters. This book is about Shep and Dylan who got married in secret while in college but a misunderstanding makes them go separate ways the day after their marriage. They were separated for ten years with no communication until Denton, Shep's friend and business partner, asks Dylan to work for them without consulting Shep. After working together on the project, they finally let their feelings for each other show. I recommend this book for those who enjoy reading Christian clean second chance romance. I received an ARC and this is my voluntary and honest review.

This secret marriage second-chance romance was an enjoyable read. Dylan and Shep's relationship was a mess, and watching them stumble - many time individually but sometimes together - was a new lesson in "What not to do 101". 🤦🏼♀️ I wanted to whack them over the backs of their heads on a number of occasions (more often Shep! Silly boy), but they finally got their acts together with a little help from their friends.

Too negative. Shep Roberts had a thing for Dylan Kendar in college, but his hyper-jealousy caused him to break both their hearts. While Shep is approaching a relationship with Christ, he still can't let go of that jealousy. There are some sweet moments. There is a satisfying ending. But the negativity made this title rather difficult to read. The reward simply isn't worth the effort.

Lasting Love
I enjoyed this story very much too, it shows that true love can get through all the problems that might crop up. Especially when sometimes see things that are far different than we thought like
Shep's strong jealously, when he saw the quarterback giving Dystany a big hug that split them up for decade. But in the end, their love looking to God for answers and learning that everything was different than it looked,they save their love. They joyfully got that second chance for a life together at last!

This one was a good read involving a secret marriage. Shep and Dylan secretly had gotten married while in college, but a misunderstanding the day after they had gotten married tore them apart. Ten years later Denton hires Dylan to work with Shep, Denton, and Cole on a project for their business. Dylan wants another chance at marriage with Shep. Now that Shep is a Christian, can they work things out to save their marriage amidst betrayal and misunderstandings? This is a great conclusion to this series and is a great read about God's mercy and grace.

None of his friends know that Shep married Dylan before they graduated. Now 10 years later Denton asked Dylan to come and troubleshoot one of the big projects that Shep is working on. This is a sweet second chance romance by Dora Hiers. Love that she used one of my favorite Bible verses Jeremiah 29:11. Also love how the characters are always asking God's guidance. Very good book.

Sweet love story about second chances and faith in God. Shep and Dylan have been estranged for years. When Dylan returns to Laurel Cove to help Shep’s company, will they get their second chance, or mess it up again? This story is rife with misunderstandings and lack of communication. Both Dylan and Shep have to learn to trust in the Lord and His timing.

This new Absolutely Must read book in this wonderful series will make you laugh and cry, it is so much fun to read. The relation with God , man and woman is very well written. The Principal characters Dylan and Shep’s story is filled with so much back and forth response, their chemistry and tension at its best. The great secondary characters are great and help understand more. I highly recommended it. Thanks to the author for providing me my review copy.

All I can say is Wow! What a story! What twists and turns in this book! Shep was so insecure that he believed the worst of Dylan! Instead of giving her a chance to explain he believed what he saw! As a result they both remained married and neither of them were able to be happy with their lives! I'm glad they were able to find the Lord and let him lead in their lives! Which brought them together stronger than before!

A beautifully written second chance Christian romance that kept me entertained and intrigued from start to finish and brought me an afternoon of reading pleasure. I loved the dynamic between Shep and Dylan as they seek God's will for their life together. Dora Hiers is my go-to for Christian romance and she has given us another winner with Summer's Strength. I truly believe that Dora Hiers has hit on one of the biggest problems for our younger generations, the difference between communicating in person and through a computer. True communication requires more work and “Shep” Roberts and his two best friends are good examples on what happens when communication fails. Assumptions without finding out facts in Shep’s case lead to 10 years of separation from his wife of one day, Dylan. I really enjoyed this book.

I love Shep and Dylan's story. I enjoyed how the author Dora Hiers made the Lord such a big part of this story! I loved it because it is hard to have faith in the Lord's plan but his plan is always "perfect" if we are willing to trust in him and have faith.I would highly recommend any book by Dora Hiers! They are great books with great stories and lessons to be learned from each one.

What a beautiful, second chance story. I liked that it was a sweet, clean, Christian story and that both of the characters found their faith and through that faith they were brought back together. Loved this short story. I love how they both stayed true to their vows over the years apart. It was great to get reacquainted with old characters. I was also glad to see that they could clear up their misunderstandings and that neither of them had tried to get a divorce. Great story!

What happens when your husband leaves you after one night??
