The Guards rule this town—always have, always will. Getting rid of them isn’t an option. I have to become one of them. And to do that, I have to win The Games.
I’ll infiltrate their ranks with dedication, perseverance, and a whole lot of luck. No distractions, especially of the romantic variety. That means keeping to the pact Sawyer and I made years ago—to always stay friends, never lovers. It also means utilizing Nico’s brain to learn what I need to know while keeping my ridiculous crush on him under wraps.
When Ezra moves in next door and sets off a whole chain of changes in our lives, I start to forget that I can’t afford to be blinded by lust. Being hands-off doesn’t sound so good anymore.
I’ve been preparing for The Games for years; I can’t fall at the last hurdle. We’re so close. Let’s hope my heart doesn’t overrule my head before we cross the finish line.
You have me fully invested with these characters, I LOVE Harlow, Sawyer, Ezra and Nico so much! Ahh the angst in this was killing me but at the same time, it was HOT. Those boys and the way they're with Harlow is off the scale HOT. The protectiveness melts my heart!
The fact Harlow brought home men just because she was in love with her best friend/roommate and she couldn't stand listening to him have sex, broke my heart for her😩. Imagine loving someone and having to go through that. I love the fact they all had their own secrets and you were just waiting for shit to hit the fan! At one point, I wanted to punch Harlow for the way she was with Ezra, but I forgave her quickly🤣.
I love Ezra so much!!! I love the fact he does not hide what he's feeling for Harlow and just puts himself on the line, also he is FINE AF!!! Nico and Harlow's slow build up is all the angst you could possibly want, the fact they both have feelings for each other but won't say and Nico's reasoning is all just to protect Harlow 😩❤️.
Eli gives me the absolute creeps and there is definatly something going on there that we don't know about. The same for Lee, not in the creepy way, but just something dont sit right, especially when they thought they see him in the club! He's a mystery and I'm sure shit is going to hit the fan with him, especially with that ending and Fleur, what is she doing!!!!!?
You keep smashing these books out the park and giving us all these very fine men! Please never stop, I cannot wait for We Will Conquer!! I'll be on you every week asking if you have finished this just so you know 😘❤️.

Honestly if I hadn’t read the blurb I don’t think I’d know the larger plot line - especially since for the first 80% of the book it’s only mentioned obscurely - and even then I wouldn’t say it’s comprehensive.
Having said that, if you’re mainly here for the interpersonal relationships then this book has you sorted. It does use one of my least fav tropes - miscommunication - but Ezra makes up for it in his open communication. Another trope that I don’t love - badass FMC who frequently needs to be rescued.
Dnf 20% might come back to it.. I don’t know. Feels like this story wasn’t going anywhere and everyone in the harem acting really immature and not talking it out. And I still didn’t get an explanation of tHe GAmE. Like, was there a book before this that I missed?
it was to hasty in the sex part but not sufficient in the back ground story, i understood that they are 2 rival gang but i dont understand the whole context
I swear everything we get from this author is a freaking hit!! I love a good RH story but throw a friends to lovers into the RH and I am sold all day long!!! Our girl Harlow is one tough cookie and she is here for a fight. This story will grab you from beginning to end and I have a feeling we are just getting started. Ezra Sawyer and Nico are all fantastic… Nico is taking a minute to come around but Ezra is hilarious and fun loving and he is not letting Sawyer off the hook when it comes to his feelings for Harlow. This book has so much intrigue, what the heck are the games what is going to happen how is everything going to play out and then you have that cliffy!!! Holy crap I can’t wait for the next book.
First time reading anything from this Author and I'm glad I stumbled upon a start of a new series.
The main MC's are great with strong, funny and caring characteristics, nevermind the awesome chemistry and steamy scenes!!! That said, everyone of them can have a bit of a boost in character depth. Harlow should gain confidence from her guys and run with it instead of hiding behind her insecurities. Sawyer needs to take charge and save Harlow from herself. Nico should man-up, get his sh*t together and claim Harlow. Ezra is the glue that is starting to keep them all together, but what is his strong suit actually?
Story wise, I just wish that we had a bit more background on what The Guards and Games entails. Hopefully we'll see with the next book - Can't wait!!!!
Brilliant characters, fantastic story with so much heat it burns!
Such a fantastic story from one of my favourite authors. I love how the exposition happens so naturally, the characters don't explain about the Games, Guards and Seconds because they know and we the readers learn as things develop. Harlow and Sawyer are such a great combination, I was rooting for them all the way through and each time it all fell apart, I was so angry. Adding sexy Ezra to the mix, wow! The heat!!!!! Plus Nico who is so trapped. With a great supporting cast too from lovely Fleur to creepy Eli, the whole world is brilliant! I can't wait for the next one!
Genevieve Jasper did it again! I loved every minute of it! It's the kind of book that draws you in, and doesn't let go, so I lost sleep, but it was totally worth it.
Take one strong, determined heroine, and give her several delicious love interests, and just watch it unfold. There's a strong storyline here, and hints at the big trials and battles to come, and I devoured every one of them! I need book 2 ASAP.
I'm all about #whychoose, so I hope she gets alllll the guys, because they're all yummy.
Ooooooh, that cliffhanger! This book was amazing. I love Harlow, and even though I found myself yelling at a couple of guys to get their acts together, I loved the buildup to the spicy times. Can’t wait to read the next one!
There are a few things that are very clear about Harlow straight away. The first is that she is head over heels in love with her best friend and roommate Sawyer. What’s my first clue? The fact that she brings home a man to sleep with so that she doesn’t have to listen to said best friend having sex in the room next door. The second is that she has a huge crush on her co-worker Nico. Another thing? She has secrets, as does every other character in this book. There’s a lot of will they or won’t they in this book, which moves to the next level with Harlow meets her new neighbor Ezra who is on that immediately. So the girl that never dates gets a boyfriend. And of course the other two aren’t jealous at all—yeah, right. Oh, not to mention that there’s this thing called the Games that Harlow is planning to enter, but we don’t learn much about it in this first book.
The Sawyer/Harlow storyline is my favorite part of this entire book. That’s not to say that I didn’t love Nico and Ezra, but I am a huge fan of friends to lovers and their storyline is so amazingly well told. They’re both idiots about the other one, so sure that they couldn’t be interested. *insert eye roll here* But then Ezra comes along, and let’s just say that he’s not letting either of them hide from their feelings any longer. Which is something else that I ADORED about this book. The Sawyer/Ezra bromance is freaking adorable. Nico is still a bit of an enigma, though the chapters from his POV help clear up some of the questions. But while the relationships are well on their way, I want to know what the heck the games are. Oh, and a warning… when you get to the end? You’ll definitely be sad that the next book isn’t out already. But holy crap, this is such a good book that I can’t even find myself caring too much about the cliffhanger. I can’t wait for more.
