As a huge fan of LADYS' works, upon finishing The Portrait of Maria I can say with confidence that this is her best yet. Since the book is a collection of short stories, I can't help but be reminded of her previous collection, Adaline. The vibes between these two books are fairly similar, especially with how LADYS employs symbols to convey social criticisms. However, The Portrait of Maria demonstrates much more variety in terms of writing styles, narration, pacing, and plots. My favorite story has to be "ดวงจันทร์บนห้องของผม." Absolutely LOVE the tension between masculinity and femininity there!
