Fresh out of prison, Jonathan Aguelon wants one big score before he leaves the city for good. The job will be more complicated than any that he's ever attempted, but this time he can steal more than money, he can get revenge—but only if he follows a mysterious benefactor’s plan.
With the right team, Jonathan can succeed, but much in the city has changed during his time away, and the Dragon doesn't have the draw he once did. The team of outcasts he assembles needs time to prepare, but time is the one luxury they don’t have.
As his benefactor pushes him into action, Jonathan refuses to be used by anyone, but can he refuse when his team might be all that stands before a coming war—if they can find a way to work together first?
2.5 stars Another disappointing read by an author I normally enjoy
Not a bad book, but it couldn't keep me interested and didn't make me want to continue with the series.
Maybe it's me, but I just couldn't really connect to the characters and couldn't get into the plot. Still, worth a try, maybe you're in a better place than me and you'll actually like it.
One more series from D.K Holmberg where we have our hero, a thief tasked by an unknown benefactor to steal a priceless item from a well guarded room. While the characters seems similar to his earlier heroes, i enjoy the creativity of the spells and enhancements that he brings into each series. Overall 3.5 stars I will be definitely reading the next book in the series.
I read all 3 books and I think Jonathon had a lot to overcome. He was a excon and had to get back into the swing of things. He picked a crew and got a job so went about doing it. He almost got caught again. He had his sister who is a powerful mage help him out. He didn't know it but he was working for her in the end. Great story as are the rest of them.
Jonathon was once known as the Dragon. That was until he got arrested for attempting to break into a vault. He spent five years in prison, only to be let out on the King's pardon. Now, he has a benefactor who wants him to break into the same vault. Can he gather a team? Can he trust them? Can they succeed? And most importantly, what does his sister, Jayna, have to do with this?
Interesting The book starts with Jonathan in prison after having been caught doing a failed job for an unknown benefactor. He is suddenly released after five years. he is given the same job by the unknown benefactor upon his release and what he does to try to accomplish this task..
A really decent read with a lot of character depth. There were a few twists in here that I didn't even see coming, and I can normally guess those pretty well. This is a well rounded team and I'm curious where it'll go from here.
A treat to find a set of characters as intriguing as the ones found in this story and I know I want more of their world and their adventures to dive into. No spoilers here , that would not be fair 😇😇
