Three Shepherd Security cases intersect with one woman. There is no such thing as a coincidence in the world that Shepherd Security operates in. So, when this woman falls into the middle of the cases, needing protection, but refusing to offer explanations, the team goes on high alert.
Dr. Evelin Rademaker, DVM, is an innocent person targeted by a dangerous group. She doesn’t know that she holds the key to resolve the Shepherd Security cases. What she is sure of is that she doesn’t know who she can trust, so she trusts no one…until Brody’s calm smile, bright green eyes, and truthful manner puts her at ease. She is attracted to him and hopeful that he is genuine and can help her. The truth is, she has no other options.
Brody ‘BT’ Templeton has a long history with Colonel Samuel 'Big Bear' Shepherd. He was a member of Delta Team under Shepherd’s command in the Middle East. He transferred from being a door-kicking boots-on-the-ground Operator to an Operations Center Analyst after his entire unit was wiped out in an ambush. He was the lone survivor. When Shepherd started the agency, BT was recruited by him to lead in the agency’s Ops Center. He’s one of the older men at the agency, experienced, and mature. Shepherd trusted him with a new junior team and put him back out in the field. As Echo Team’s Lead, a return to Operator was inevitable. The problem is, BT has ghosts he is not sure he’s vanquished and that return to the field, just might bring every single one of those ghosts back to crush him.
Warning, this story is realistic, with adult language and content on the way to the HEA. This is book 12 in the Shepherd Security Series. Even though the story does continue from book to book, each is a stand-alone story and can be read without reading the prior book(s), but they are best enjoyed in order.
Margaret Kay is a wife, a mother of two adult children, a grandmother, a pet lover who makes her own dog food from scratch, and a writer of Military Romance Novels.
Margaret's husband proudly served 8 years in the United States Navy. She's a veteran of more than a few deployments as the spouse who took care of the family while her military member served halfway around the world.
Margaret has given us a bit of everything to make this a page turner. There is action, suspense, drama, danger, tension, angst, emotions, secrets, and a hell of a lot more. Twists and turns abound that you don’t see coming.
The action starts right from the beginning and keeps on coming. It is also a bit of a rollercoaster ride, but this is one series you will get addicted too. It did take me a while to get into the story and used to Margarets storytelling but once I did it is easy to enjoy the stories.
Make sure to start at the beginning as characters do cross over. The stories are told through multiple POV’s as you really get inside the characters heads and know what they are thinking and learn who they are better. These wonderful characters are well written, complex, and fully realised. These alpha men and women are saviours and will do anything to protect those who they love and those who need it to fight against evil and those who wrong others.
There is religious overtones which often had me wondering if I would continue, and the sexual references are left more to the imagination, but the stories soon outweighed all that.
This was a very intense, complex, and suspenseful story that will hook you from the start. There always seems to be so much going on with the Shepherd Security family, especially when their cases take them in so many different directions, but no matter what happens or where they are, they've always got each others backs. The characters, as well as the unconventional family they've created, is one of the many things that make this series absolutely fantastic. It's certainly not one that you'll want to miss! I would definitely recommend this book, series, and exceptional author.
I'm really looking forward to the upcoming books in the series, and hope that there will be many more.
The Shepard Security series is compelling and the situations that upset the normal lives of the hero/ines are always exciting but there are a few things that Ms. Kay has done consistently in each book that are beginning to get on my nerves.
I love books that are rich in detail so that I'm transported into the author's universe, but the detail in this book is dense. By that I mean rich detail is when the environment or action or even love is described sumptuously, one at a time. However, this story has too many details about too many things way too close together. I'm just absorbing one thing when here comes something else barreling right over it. I read details about five different things in a fifteen line paragraph.
Here is where I must warn : SPOILER ALERT
There is a case where the CIA wants SS to do a welfare check on one of its assets. When they arrive the team find the asset and an unknown woman dead. This welfare check was supposed to be a quick in and out on the way to New Orleans to investigate the allegations of organ harvesting from the invisible population. The homeless, the elderly and runaways. Instead the team becomes distracted by these murders. On top of that we learn that in the case of the young people they are trafficked for the sex trade getting them hooked on drugs, recorded having sex then blackmailed into prostitution with threats of leaking the videos. Now all the way in Arizona a young veterinarian Evelin Rademaker goes out on two dates with a guy who gives her the heebee heebee so she tells him she doesn't want to see him anymore. The clean-cut pretty boy come motorcycle gangsta Alex Luna, has her stalked until she changes her identity and moves to Louisiana. The author ties these things together thus creating a dense narrative. The plot line regarding the CIA asset adds nothing but bogs down the story. If it wasn't for the SS team pulling off the highway for coffee and catching Luna attempting to kill Evie the rest of the book could not be resolved. They manage to thwart the assault and scare away Luna. Now if that isn't enough we learn that Luna is involved in the remaining two plots.
Too much. Too unbelievable. I'm not saying it couldn't happen, I'm just saying that something that can happen in real life doesn't always make for entertaining narrative.
I know there is a disclaimer in the description "warning" about the real life situations, but that just tells me she thinks you won't believe the story line. And I don't.
There’s a lot going on in this one and it will keep you on your toes and on the edge of your seats. It’s based on New Orleans and the surrounding area and it gives you a few much different from the sights of Bourbon Street and tourist attractions. You get involved in the seedier side and all it involves. The case they are originally working on involves organ harvesting but soon a retired CIA agent’s murder and a veterinarian running from a 1 percenter mc drops in their hands when going on a coffee run. Then they find a human trafficking ring. Yep, the teams are busy! Brody, aka BT, is attracted to the vet, Evelin, and her dog, Ollie, who’s a police trained Belgianois Malinois. Brody trained dogs while in the sandbox and lost his partner tragically while serving. I loved watching these two come to terms with their attention and overcome their shyness. It was great seeing the teams work seamlessly with operators from three separate teams. This one is action packed, suspenseful and has a little steam too.
On veterinarian Dr. Evelin Rademaker’s second date with elusive criminal Alex, Cruz, she was uncomfortable and asked him not to call again. Alex and his club brothers began following her. When Alex is arrested, he and his club blame Evie. Months later, Alex ran Evie off the road and went to shoot her but Ops agent, Brody ‘BT’ Templeton saw him and rescued Evelin.
While Brody and his team worked a messy organ trafficking ring, they found a dead CIA agent dead in his home. Juggling the cases is more than a full day for BT, and he tells himself there’s no time for the growing emotions between him and Evie. But thin links between the cases are found with faint ties to Evie And more off-putting, Alex is convinced he owns Evie! Rating: 4.25stars
BT is an operator at the Shepherd Security, which is a black op agency. While on a mission him and Doc (another operator at Shepherd Security) see a truck forcing a car off the road. They see the men coming out of the truck with guns. BT and Doc get involved with the case even though they should be turning it over to the local authorities. It turns out that it is part of the mission that they are there for. This is where BT meets Evie and where their story begins. Again another fabulous book that keeps you reading. This series should be read in order, since there is reference to the previous books. Add this series to your list.
I absolutely love this series and Brody who seems so unassuming is probably one of my favorites now. There is so much to unpack in this story but the author does a great job explaining the details. I have to admit, I’m a detailed person and a couple of times I had to reread a section to make the necessary connections. This story does have a lot of twists and turns which I love. Eve is very unassuming as well, just trying to live her life and gets caught up in a crazy web of crimes. I think Brody and Eve were perfect together. A must read.
Eve met the wrong man which forced her to go on the run. Her life crosses with a security op that Brody is involved in. This complex story is about their story, a human trafficking ring, and a desperate effort to keep others from harm. Good to see familiar operators from Shepherd Security working side by side. Unfortunately due to complexity of plotline a few parts dragged. But completely satisfying. Could not put down
Another great book by Margaret Kay. I thoroughly enjoyed BT and Evelin’s story. I couldn’t put the book down. It had everything… suspense, action, and romance. I highly recommend this book and all of the Shepherd Security books. You won’t be disappointed. I can’t wait for the next one in this series.
As usual, Margaret Kay has written an awesome, intelligent book. I so enjoyed the 3 cases converging.... Made me think. I also appreciated that it wasn't an "instant love" story. Brody was a little slow on the uptake. LOL So all in all I really enjoyed the story and look forward to the next one! I've read all 12 so far!
Operation: Blood Angel is the latest addition to this series. Anyone who is a fan of military romantic suspense will love missions of the Shepherd Security operators . Loved getting to know BT and Eveline, as well as catching up on the others from previous books.
The Shepherd Security series is one of my favorites. I thoroughly enjoyed BT and Evelin’s story. We all try not to think of the awful things that happen around us but they do happen and this book is about those types of things. Awful things can happen to good people. I can’t wait for the next book in this series.
Reading the stories of these awful situations that are so real is scary. The story makes me feel so many emotions, fear, sorrow, pity and then excitement at the happy endings. Knowing there are special forces that actually help people like in the stories make want to read more and more
Rating: 4.5 Operation: Blood Angel is an enthralling, complex novel. Your head will be spinning between the twists, turns, surprises, number of agencies and missions…. Margaret Kay is an extraordinary writer. Each book in this series is phenomenal. Note: page 223: heals should be heels.
Love this series. Wish you could write faster. You always have great characters that feel real. Storyline’s that grab hold and just go on a great ride. Thank You
I wait anxiously for the next book in this series. Even If I'm reading another book I stop it and jump Into the new book in this series. This series is absolutely a must read.
I love strong women who have to deal with situations beyond their control! They manage to find their match in men determined to help and love them. These stories allow both individuals to gain confidence and flourish.
This story might cause triggers for some. There are several scenarios going on in this book. Kidnappings, sexual abuse, rape and drugs. Eve catches the eye of a very dangerous man. Get ready when the scramble to find him. HEA.
This is another very entertaining book in this series. I enjoy the characters and their interactions. The suspense and action keep the story flowing and the romance adds to it.
Once again this series has presented a very interesting story. The pretext this story is based on is heart wrenching. To think that this type of thing really happens is astonishing. I loved the pairing of Evie and BT. I highly recommend this series.
Great book with a good plot. The pieces of the plot came together slowly in a good way that you couldn’t guess it too early. Great writing and series keeps you wanting the next one!
I truly enjoyed reading this book it was intriguing, mysterious, loving, sexy, and full of action! I would definitely recommend this book to read! 🤗🤗👏👏
This book is a romantic suspense novel about Brody "BT" Templeton and Evelin Rademaker getting together with each other. This book is a great story. HEA
