The first four books in the laugh-out-loud urban fantasy series readers are calling dark, sexy, and hilarious!
BOOK 1: LIFE SUCKS AFTER YOU DIE What do you get when you mix an incubus bite with a vampire bite? A shitastrophe. All Danni Keller wanted to do was go to a bar and drown her sorrows in some alcohol, but she managed to get attacked by an incubus. Now she's being guarded by a hunky but oh so irritating vampire (who bit her too) while the incubus stalks her.
Being guarded by the sexy vampire probably wouldn't be that bad if not for the fact her perfect boss has finally noticed her. Try dating while a vampire guards you way too closely and an incubus tracks your every move, waiting to pounce. Then there's some creepy hunter guy who also wants to kill Danni. The sun wants to kill her. Human food wants to kill her. Don't even get her started on her family. Life sucks after you die.
BOOK 2: VAMPIRE GIRL PROBLEMS
Danni Keller is half vampire, half succubus, and a full hot mess.
When Danni was younger she thought being a vampire could be kind of fun. You stay young forever, live in a castle, and play by your own rules.
Then she was turned into one and while the eternally young part is true, there's no castle. She can't talk about her age, she can't tell anyone what she is, and with an overprotective sire like hers, she can't even have a job or go shopping without a babysitter.
Danni knows it's for her own good and all since bad guys are always trying to kill her, the sun burns like hell, she still can't eat human food without becoming gravely ill, and she's not exactly your run-of-the-mill vampire but a hybrid with all kinds of extra issues, but still ...
Is it too much to ask for a girl to have a cupcake???
BOOK 3: SUCK IT, SISTER!
What can suck more than a vampire? Family.
Sure, Danni's sister is spoiled rotten and self-centered, but she couldn't let her die after she stumbled into an ambush meant for Danni and her hunky sire. To save her, Rider had to turn her... and he's not too happy about it. Danni and Rider's relationship is strained, Danni's succubus side is acting up, Daniel's looking at her kind of funny, Danni's sister is turning out to be a major problem, Selander Ryan's out there somewhere, Rider's gorgeous and powerful old friend just pops into his room whenever she feels like it, Danni's become Nannette's lab rat, She kind of adopted a teenager... and she still can't even have a freaking cupcake!
BOOK 4: LOVE POTION #666
Official job working security? Check. Dragon sidekick along to keep her out of real danger? Check. Mythological monsters let loose on the town? Oh, crud.
It's been rough adapting to her new lifestyle, but Danni's gotten used to the fangs and venom, and found strength within to overpower her worst her own self-doubt. Now she's on her first official job as a member of Rider's security firm. Assigned as security at Gruff's Bar and Grille in Moonlight, West Virginia, Danni is bored to tears until a man stumbles in, missing a few important body parts. The overprotective Rider wants to take her off the case, but she's determined to prove she can handle the job and convince her stubborn sire she's tougher than he gives her credit for.
She's taken on shifters and gangbangers, and earned the moniker of Danni the Teste Slayer. Surely she can take on whatever is preying on the people of Moonlight...
I was first struck by the poor grammar and the usual super handsome guy. Then the excessive whininess of the heroine. But then, I started giggling and laughing out loud uncontrollably. It was two thirty a.m. As I continued reading these books, I laughed some more and I saw how the author had the heroine grow up and better emotionally, until she became the strong woman she was meant to be. I also loved that while the sexual encounters were extremely enthusiastic, they were never pornographic and the details were left to one's imagination.
Well, I just finished the 4th book in this series, and it was fantastic, just like the other three!! I love this author and I will search for more of her work!
The first 2 1/2 stories are very aggravating. As other reviewers have noted, the main character Danni is a whiney young woman. It got to a point where halfway through it didn't think I could finish this because I wasn't enjoying it. I set it aside, read a couple of other books and came back to it. Only then did it start to be enjoyable. The author is lucky I was willing to wade through 600 pages of angst. That normally doesn't happen. The author really needs to retool the first two books if she wants to attract an appreciative audience. I will say I'd rate #4 as a 5 though. It finally got better but I shouldn't have to read 1000 pages before the main character loses her whine.
I liked the storyline, and most of the characters. Danni was pretty juvenile, but still interesting. The one thing that brought the rating down for me was the extremely bad grammar. The author especially needs to learn about the past tense. It's "had gone", not "had went". She apparently loves that phrase, because it's repeatedly constantly through the books. I found it totally distracting, and it took away from the book. As I said, I think it's an entertaining read, but could be improved by some decent editing.
Love these books but I get so mad at Danni sick of her whining about no boobs and a bad family she is not the only one and so angry at the way she treats Ryder he loves her much and she is horrible to him. Danni just won't even try to understand Ryder wants to keep her safe on top of all the other paranormals he is protecting She should be proud of him and over the moon with how much he loves her! and I hate her playing games with Daniel, I want to go in the book and shake her so hard but on the other hand I have laughed so hard on some of the things in the books love books that continue a storyline. good writing, I am on book 6 right now, and I am A new fan Marion Emery from NH
I absolutely loved this series with its chuckle worthy moments, Danni is attacked by an Incubus he nearly killed her until Rider saved her life. Book 1 Life Sucks After You Die. Book 2 Vampire Girl Problems. Book 3 Suck It, Sister!. Book 4 Love Potion #666. I loved this story and the characters especially Danni she was totally in denial with everything and I loved the adventures and the trouble she always got into and I definitely recommend this series.
This series is probably one of the best I’ve read in a long time. It has a little bit of everything in it. I found myself laughing out loud at times including a time where I had a hard time stopping. The characters are well defined. If you like vampire stories that also include several other paranormal characters, as well as suspense and romance, this is a book series you want to read.
This is my first time reading Crystal-Rain Love, and I wasn't disappointed. This is a fantastic boxset. Deliciously dark and dangerous. Great characters, and a well written storyline throughout. Would recommend.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I could not put the books down! Scary, exciting, comical. A new way of looking at paranormal creatures. However I was saddened to have Daniel so disgusted with the habits and smell of an elderly human, it caused him to freak out and puke. Daniel was one of my favorite and funniest characters. I didn't find that funny.
I laughed so hard in book four I was crying. I read several pages outloud to my husband so he could laugh also. I am definitely reading anything Crystal-rain Love writes. If I could give 10 stars I would.
I enjoyed the story and the characters who are all believable. The storyline was full of action, twists and emotions. It’s rare that a book makes me actually laugh out loud or bring a tear, which this series did aplenty.
An absolute must read! The author has a hit series on their hands! Fabulous characters that follow through out the series and lots of twists and turns that will keep you on the edge of your seat. I highly recommend!
Great writing, awesome world building. Danni needs a bit of a shake though, They get the bad guy in the end but damn they all suffered and so many twists and turns.
That says it all. Wow what an amazing four books. I got mad at Danny several times in these books. Rider so in line be and her not sure it's love or soul mates.
