Grief Counseling and Grief Therapy, 5th Edition: A Handbook for the Mental Health Practitioner: Grief Counseling Handbook on Treatment of Grief, Loss and Bereavement
I had to read this handbook for my grief class and I had mixed feelings about it. I thought it had great content on the tasks of mourning and the challenges counselors face when dealing with their grief in client settings. However, I did not agree and found it problematic that the author dismissed spirituality and the belief of reunification with a loved one after death as a potential issue in the grieving process. I also found the absence of addiction and overdose deaths to be profound, considering it is a Ieading cause of death and comes with special circumstances. I would not recommend this handbook specifically for a grieving course, but it is beneficial for understanding the tasks of mourning.
