It's the countdown to Christmas at Hedgehog Hollow Wildlife Rescue Centre, and everyone is gearing up for a festive season to remember...
It should be the most wonderful time of the year for Samantha and Josh as they prepare for the arrival of their first baby. But life at Hedgehog Hollow rarely goes to plan and the pair are faced with adversaries, old and new, and unexpected challenges to overcome.
Fizz's job at the heart of the rescue centre is a dream come true but her personal life is more like a nightmare. With her love life a disaster and her past about to dramatically catch up with her, she needs the love and support of her Hedgehog Hollow family more than ever.
As the snow falls over Hedgehog Hollow, will Samantha and Fizz find the Christmas miracle they need to overcome their heartache and find happiness?
I was born in Teesside but now live in Scarborough on the stunning North Yorkshire Coast. My home inspired the creation of the fictional seaside town of Whitsborough Bay where I set many of my books although the Hedgehog Hollow series takes readers to a gorgeous new countryside setting in the Yorkshire Wolds.
I live with my husband, our teenage daughter and sprocker spaniel, Ella. I'm a self-confessed stationery addict with a ridiculously large collection of notepads who loves chocolate (although it doesn't love me), hedgehogs, 80s music, collectible teddy bears and lighthouses.
Other than a career detour into retail to set up and run my own teddy bear shop (the inspiration for novel Bear With Me), I've always worked in HR, specialising in resourcing, coaching and L&D. Writing always had to take a back seat to the day job until June 2020 when I left the world of HR to become a full-time author. I'm so very grateful to anyone who has bought or borrowed my books in whatever format, helping me fulfil a long-held dream of writing full-time. I still can't believe I get to spend every day chatting to my fictional friends and making stuff up.
This book had it all: love, laughter and tears. It was a fantastic end to a fabulous series and I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of this read. It was hard not to race through it, knowing there isn’t another book on the horizon, but I just couldn’t stop myself getting engrossed with Sam, Fizz and everyone at Hedgehog Hollow.
If you haven’t read any of my reviews of this series then look away now! This is best enjoyed after reading the previous books otherwise you will find yourself scratching your head with some of the references to other stories. And even though the Big Day is still many weeks away, this book does not feel totally full of Christmas. The novel begins in autumn and actually, it’s only the final quarter where the Christmas countdown truly begins: so no need to feel guilty at reading this in the middle of summer!
There is closure in this book for many characters and I think this added to the satisfaction of the story. For starters, we follow Sam as she is in the throes of pregnancy. Her story particularly resonated with me and even before I had read the closing authorial note, I sensed that Redland was writing from experience. It felt so real and palpable, with Sam’s fears seeming more than just a fictional character’s worries. Like the other books, there is also a secondary character whom we closely follow. This time it is lovable Fizz and I enjoyed the contrast established between her and Sam’s stories. I had always thought Fizz was a peripheral character and was delighted to see her being the focus.
Themes that Redland included in this narrative added to the overall emotion of the story. Fizz’s story was interesting to observe and I appreciated how strong her character became over the narrative. Whilst fraught with sadness and tragedy, I was rooting for her to find happiness and relief. Seeing the juxtaposition between her and Sam made Fizz’s story even more poignant and I was invested in both characters to have their own happy ever after.
Of course, this book wouldn’t be the same without the hedgehogs! They are as delightful and cuddly as ever, with the rescue centre having expanded to shelter other wounded animals too. I especially liked the badgers in this story and was chuckling over the Gladiator references. Like the characters, I could vividly picture the ‘army’ in progression!
This book was so well-written. I think it was one of my favourites of the series (although that is a tough decision, to say the least). The final few pages gave me such goose bumps, initially caused by Redland’s references to the other novel titles in the series. It was such a fitting emotion to feel with a read that made me sad, happy and optimistic as well. The satellite characters are just as lovable as Sam and I delighted in the hedgehog community that has developed. A close relationship held by all was so endearing and I don’t think I will forget the robin scene in a hurry.
Redland has rapidly become one of my favourite authors and I am already excited to see what this writer releases next. As for the hedgehogs, it is goodbye for now my prickly friends and I hope you and Snoop Hoggy Hog make an appearance at a later date…
With thanks to Boldwood books, NetGalley and Rachel’s Random Resources for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Well Jessica Redland almost had me in tears while I was on the tube while I was devouring this spectacular series finale.
It is just the most perfect title for a book, and while I'm gutted the series has come to an end, if you do have to end a series then other authors should look at this for how to leave a reader satisfied, and incredibly happy for the characters.
But it's certainly not smooth going, and anyone who has been following the series from the start wouldn't have expected anything less than the amount of well literally everything that has been crammed into this book.
Sam's viewpoint is mixed with us finally getting Fizz's story, and what a backstory and secret she has. It is uncomfortable reading at times, but all dealt with in an appropriate manner from the author.
Full of drama, emotion, more animals than just hedgehogs (time has moved on since the end of book 5), joy and heartache this book grabs your attention from the first few pages, and doesn't let it go at any point. It's fantastic.
Always sad to see a much loved series end, but it really has been done in a spectacular way.
Thank you Jessica Redland for bringing Hedgehog Hollow in our hearts, and teaching us all about Hedgehogs, and how to look after them. It has been a complete and utter pleasure reading this series.
Thank you to Boldwood Books and Netgalley for this copy which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.
I have absolutely loved this series of books Jessica Redland for me seems to strike the balance between light and shade. There is warm and fuzzy as well as drama and tension and a secret that has festered since childhood that is dealt with both raw emotion and the fallout is not glossed over.
The star of the piece Samantha and her husband are due to have their first baby at Christmas time but as usual things do not go to plan. As well as Samantha over the series of books another character is focussed on.
This time we get to know more about Fizz a veterinary nurse in the making with a bubbly character with colourful hair. She works at the rescue centre that was left to Sam and was really run down and through hard work and help she made it what it is today.
Fizz has been carrying a secret for many years and she has been coping because the person responsible is living in another country.
Things take a turn because that person who is part of the family is flying over for Christmas. We see all the emotions come out and her nightmares as she builds up to telling her parents. With support from a close friend she confesses not realising the culprit and their family hear every word and sparks fly…
This book made me laugh, smile and cry, I did not want it to end. The story also centres around hedgehogs and with each book there is more to find out this one includes a blond hedgehog who they name Debbie re Debbie Harry in the group blondie which made me giggle 🤭
Christmas Miracles at Hedgehog Hollow is the 6th and final book in Hedgehog Hollow series. While the author includes a character list and their relationships, as well as a synopsis of what has happened thus far, I still recommend you read this series in order. There are a lot of characters, each of their stories unfolding in previous books, so to fully understand the story, that would be my recommendation. In this book, we finally get Fizz's story. The story is set a year after the previous story ended, and Fizz is in a relationship that doesn't seem to be working. Sam is expecting and her and Josh are quite excited to start their family.
I was not looking forward to the ending of this series, but Jessica Redland does a wonderful job of tying all the loose ends together, letting us know what all the characters are doing and what is in their future. As is normal in Jessica Redland's books, this is not all happiness and joy. The characters go through some difficult times, some shared from their past, some happening in the present, but it is presented with care and compassion, ending with an uplifting feeling that friendship, family (blood and found family) compassion and understanding can help deal with hurt, heartache, and trauma. I like that all the characters from previous books were brought together in this final story. Hedgehog Hollow is not just about rescuing hedgehogs, but also rescuing each other. There is found family, reconciliation, forgiveness, new beginnings and friendship. Thank you Jessica for this wonderful ending to this series that I have enjoyed. I will miss these characters, but look forward to seeing what you come up with next.
This is the final book in the Hedgehog series and I haven’t read the others and I was able to enjoy the story, but to be honest, there were several references to characters and events that I wasn’t totally able to relate to despite the notes in the beginning of the book so I think that you would be better off having read at least some of the other books in the series. However, as I said, I haven’t read the others, and I still liked this one. I think having read the others just would have added to my enjoyment. This is a heartwarming story of a small farm town and the people in it who rally around each other when things get tough. Samantha and Josh run a Hedgehog rescue center and are expecting their first baby at Christmas time. Fizz is hiding a dark secret which has impacted all her relationships and it’s finally come to light and it changes everything for her and everyone around her, but it also helps her discover who she really is and what a true relationship is There are a lot of characters to keep up with but there’s the makings of a Hallmark movie here I think! Thanks to Boldwood Books and NetGalley for this eArc in exchange for my review.
Loved it!!! A great end to the series, it was perfect. I'm sad to say goodbye to all the hedgehogs and of course all the characters that I grew to love. It always takes me a little time to figure out who everyone is again, with all the parents, their spouses, friends and family. That is why I love the brief synopsis of everyone at the beginning. The book takes place a whole year after the last one, which definitely helps with the storyline. In this book the reader got to know Fizz a little bit better. Fizz isn't all sparkling unicorn with colorful hair, she has a horrible secret that she has been hiding for years. I wasn't expecting what she revealed, but Fizz was strong, brave and did exactly what she needed to. I'm not sure how Fizz was with Yasmin for so long. Fizz should have have left with Jinx immediately, on the night sue was supposed to move in with her. I still have a hard time with Debs. She treated her daughter terribly for so many years, but she has changed for the better. Hedgehogs sound so cute, I wish we had wild ones that lived in our garden. I would definitely volunteer at Samantha's hedgehog rescue center. Loved that everyone got their happy ending.
Definitely recommend the book and the previous ones in the series. Love the characters, story and writing style. I'm sad to say goodbye, but it was a wonderful ending. Look forward to reading more books by the author. Love the cover.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from Boldwood Books through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
I was so excited for this book and I think it may well be my favourite from the whole 6 book series. Jessica always puts a little ‘what’s happened so far’ at the start of her books which I find really helpful as it can jog your memory from the previous book. Along with the character guides this also means that if you hadn’t read the previous books you could jump straight in with this book and understand who everyone is.
As soon as I started reading I was transported straight to Hedgehog Hollow with Sam and Josh and their ever growing family. It really does feel like you’re a part of their world when reading these books and I find myself easily immersed. Things never go plain sailing for Sam and it’s safe to say that that is also true for this book and boy oh boy is it an emotional journey, there are a lot of sad moments in this so I would recommend having some tissues nearby!
It’s great that Jessica doesn’t forget past characters to and we get to catch up with everyone during the book which just cements the community feeling that Redland delivers in her books, even the hedgehogs aren’t forgotten!
This was such a good book and I really didn’t want it to be the end of Hedgehog Hollow as I feel like both the location and the characters have a spot in my heart. I was so chuffed when I read Redland’s acknowledgments at the end of the book but it also delivers that personal touch and had me feeling for the tissues again. An amazing author who has created an amazing series who keeps me wanting more!
I love, love, loved this so much, yes I’m so sad this amazing series has to come to an end, but it was a perfect end, just like the series, full of love, heart and plenty of emotions. There are hard times, the characters go through heartaches, hardships and disaster, but you know that’s life, the difference with reading these books is we know there’ll be a happy ending. But you don’t get a happy ending without having a few tears first. I always like the analogy how would we know what happiness is if we didn’t experience sadness.
So yes, I’m bidding a farewell to Hedgehog Hollow, but I’m not really sad because I know Jessica has so many new books and stories to come, stories that will keep me sane, cost me a fortune in tissues and make a bad day better. These books, they make a difference, speaking as someone who is posting this late for reasons I’m not going into, I fully appreciate the escape books like Jessica’s provide, that authors provide to their readers and the world. It’s a powerful gift and one to treasure, I can hand on heart say Jessica’s books have made a bad day better, I’ve related to her characters, I’ve shared experiences and her characters experiences have made me feel better, or given me hope. Every book and story I read and love means something to me, it makes a difference and I will never underestimate the gift authors, poets, any writers gift to the world.
I am thankful for Jessica’s books, long may she continue to brighten this little corner of my world and make me cry, laugh, smile, see the good in people/life and hope.
Thank you Jessica Redland, Boldwood Books, Rachel’s Random Resources for the opportunity to read and take part in the blog tour for this wonderful story, all opinions are my own and freely given.
Christmas Miracles at Hedgehog Hollow will delight both readers new to the Hedgehog Hollow series and stalwart fans of Jessica Redland. As always, this instalment is jammed with drama and life's ups and downs. Happenings have moved on a whole year since the last instalment, book #5 - Chasing Dreams at Hedgehog Hollow. The Christmas theme is present but understated and mostly involves preparations. With plenty of emotion, sadness and joy this fantastic story ties all loose ends together in an irrevocably satisfying finish. I'm crushed that this is the end of a magical series as I will miss many of the characters, but excitedly await Jessica Redland's next offering.
I received a complimentary copy of this novel at my request from Boldwood Books via NetGalley and this review is my unbiased opinion.
So, this is a bittersweet moment for me, reviewing the final instalment of this wonderful series. I will miss immensely Sam and all the great characters and the lovely hedgehogs! I've found this last book hard to read, partly because I knew there wouldn't be a follow up and partly also because the themes treated are particolarly sensitive, but as usual, when it comes to Jessica Redland, dealt with a delicate touch. The perfect ending to a beautiful series!
Thank you to NetGalley and Boldwood Books for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Oh my word, what a wonderful book and what a fantastic way to end the series. I cried more than once. Such moving stories from Fizz and Robbie, very hard hitting topics and I felt they were dealt with such respect. These characters that we are all familiar with and we think we know them, still find a way to surprise us and show us that there are many layers to a person and don’t always assume you know their full story- just like Brenda who upset Sam so much. My poor heart broke for Terry, but I was so touched and moved at how his passing was described and his reunion, finally with Gwendoline and Thomas. Meeting baby Thomas was wonderful and I really enjoyed seeing Sam and Josh as parents and taking the next step in their lives. I was so happy when Fizz finally realised that Phoebe was her right person, and I loved how Darcie played a part in them getting together. The ending was beautiful and I bet that painting was a beautiful sight. I really hope we get to drop in at hedgehog hollow again and see how everyone is getting on.
Absolutely loved this book as much, as I loved the rest in the series. I'm sad to say au revoir to Hedgehog Hollow. Thank you Jessica for a wonderful series.
This is the sixth and final book in the Hedgehog Hollow series and I’d strongly recommend reading the series in order, as you get to know the characters and their backstories throughout the books. At the start of this novel, there’s a helpful guide to who’s who in the series, to refresh your memory, plus a ‘The Story So Far’ section. This book is set a year after Book Five. It’s October, it’s Samantha’s 32nd birthday and their first baby is due in twelve weeks! Hedgehog Hollow has expanded to become a Wildlife Rescue Centre, able to look after more than just hedgehogs and Fizz, at 28, has begun her dream job there as a full-time veterinary nurse. She is still in a relationship with Yasmin, though they really don’t seem well-suited. The chapters are written from Samantha and Fizz’s viewpoints. I’m not going to tell you any more about the plot, because you’ll enjoy learning it from the pages of this superb book. There are the twists and turns you would expect, as this is not going to be an easy ride towards a Happy Ever After sign. Like in real life, things happen to set you back, but you keep going. There is a misconception that many romance/romcom/women’s fiction books are light and fluffy, somehow disposable or inferior to other genres. This is absolute rubbish, of course. These books show real life - we deal with families, relationships, birth, marriage, death, financial struggles and so on – real issues, big and small. In this book, there is a storyline about abuse, which is perfectly handled. Jessica Redland is one of the best at combining serious issues and lighter moments seamlessly. To us loyal readers, Hedgehog Hollow is real. I can picture where everything is, what it looks like and I feel I know all the characters as if they were real people. Jessica Redland is one of my favourite authors, she writes in such a warm and authentic way. You care about the characters and want to follow their stories throughout the series. As with every book, I find myself learning more about hedgehogs, which is always a delight as they are amongst my favourite animals. (And I loved Debbie Harry!) Since Chloe and Lauren opened Crafty Hollow, I can also get my sewing fix along with my hedgehog fix in the book and I’d love to be able to sign up for the craft workshops! Overall, I’ll always recommend a Jessica Redland book. Her writing style is so natural and a real delight. Her Hedgehog Hollow series has been such a joy, each book is like catching up with old friends over a cup of tea and maybe feeding a hoglet if you’re lucky. I’m sad the series has finished, but I’m also excited about her future books, as I’m sure they will be equally wonderful. 9.5 out of 10
This was an amazing conclusion to the series. It was fantastic to finally get to know Fiz properly and learn about her character. Her story was horrible and what she went through was horific and the fact she had felt she could not tell anyone was really sad. No child should have to suffer abbuce but when it is by a family member who you should be able to trust and keep you safe is even worse. I look forward to seeing what Jessica is planning to come up with next. Very sad to see this series ending.
Yes, of course it’s sad that this wonderful series is finally coming to an end – the cast certainly aren’t just “characters” any more, but very real people (and friends…) whose stories it’s been a privilege to share. I’m sure some readers might be tempted to pick up this book as a standalone and give it a try, having seen how much others have loved the series – but I’d really recommend that you don’t, and start with the earlier books in the series. The author does make it technically possible by helpfully providing a “story so far” and a list of recurring characters, but you’ll enjoy it far more if you’re with them throughout their journey, understand the complexities of their relationships and the history they share, cry at their sadnesses and celebrate their moments of joy.
Throughout the series, each book has focused on one or more key characters, with the day-to-day efforts of the hedgehog rescue centre and the lives of everyone else continuing in the background. The one consistent voice has been Sam’s – from the point that she met Thomas, her dreams of making good use of his legacy coming to fruition with the beginnings of the hedgehog sanctuary, the love she found with Josh, and her involvement in the sometimes complicated lives of the large cast of friends and family. And at the beginning of this book, it’s really lovely to see her in a particularly good place – the Hollow is no longer just a hedgehog rescue centre but now hosts and cares for a wider range of wildlife, other small businesses have grown alongside it, and she’s happily awaiting the birth of her Christmas baby. There are, of course, a number of ups and downs that follow – the small and larger dramas and emotional moments that the author always handles so very well.
But the other person who takes centre stage – and the other voice of the book – is Fizz, and she’s one of the stalwarts at the rescue centre that I’ve been wanting to get to know rather better since she appeared with her multi-coloured hair and eccentric fashion sense, her humour and lightness, and the wonderful touch she has when dealing with anyone in trouble (whether they have two legs or four). Her story is a traumatic one – but although it deals with a particularly difficult past experience that’s caused untold damage, there was never a time when I didn’t feel in entirely safe hands as her experience was shared. And, of course, what every reader will want is for her to have her happy ending – is there a chance that she and Phoebe (who’s certainly been through some pretty traumatic experiences of her own) might be able to become more than just good friends?
This really is, in every way, the finale the series deserved – every single thread followed through to a tidy (and unfailingly satisfying) ending. There’s a fair measure of sadness and more than a few emotional moments along the way, but there’s a tremendous amount of joy too – this is a book filled to the brim with warmth and love, beautifully written, and wholeheartedly recommended. I’m now really looking forward to seeing what this very talented author does next…
Oh, this is such a bitter-sweet review as this is the final book in this series, although the author does mention the possibility of coming back to some characters mentioned. I for one hope that she does.
This has been a fabulous series and one that I have read from the very first when there was no rescue centre, when the house was run down and where an elderly man was alone. The author has created such a heartwarming series and each step of the way I have been hooked. Following the comings and goings of the people, the families and friends and obviously of the little prickle balls themselves.
This final book is another heartwrenching one, although it is also full of wonderful surprises and new starts. Yes it does have Christmas mentioned ( this book was released in September btw) and it was a refreshing book to read in the August sun.
Family and friends are looking toward Christmas, but it is going to be a strange one in some ways as things don't remain the same. I did like the way the author didn't make it excessively festive but concentrated on the close-knit family, extended family and close friends of those who have been part of Hedgehog Hollow over the years. Christmas is a time for remembering things and not all are good. there are some very tough times ahead for some of the characters as they have to admit things that they have kept hidden for far too long.
Sam and Josh are awaiting the arrival of their new baby, and this is one of the new starts I have mentioned. There is a sense of fear and excitement as they await the birth, but there is also plenty of other things going on in the story. It does have a feeling that the author has started to bring things to a close, but it has been done in such a wonderful and natural feeling way.
This book was a real emotional rollercoaster, there were so many moments when I had to swallow a lump in my throat or wipe away the odd tear so I could keep reading. I would love to share all these moments but I am deliberately avoiding this.
A vague-ish review as such as I don't want to spoil any of the numerous and wonderful moments if you are still to read this one.
If you are a fan of contemporary fiction and romance with family and friends being the focus then you need to have a look at this series. There is romance, trouble, challenges, expectations and so many wonderful surprises throughout the series and also this final book.
This has been a fabulous reading journey and I have learnt more about hedgehogs and this has been incorporated into the storylines so well.
Fabulous series, with amazing characters and wonderful storylines that I would definitely recommend.
The final book in a much-loved series, this lovely Christmas edition follows Sam, her husband Josh, and the entire crowd of family, friends (furry included!) that have come to represent familiar and cherished friends for many readers (including this one).
As we follow Sam (now thirty-two years old and the proprietress of the fully functioning Hedgehog Hollow Animal Rescue Center), from the early days through to the culmination of her pregnancy, there is, as we have come to expect, a lot happening in her life and those that intersect it.
Softly layered with real people, with real lives, who worry about each other, pick up pots of paint, care for wounded animals, and rush in without hesitation to help each other celebrate or handle unexpected grief, and the big events in their lives, all of which are infinitely improved by the sharing.
Without giving the plot away (no spoilers here), Sam’s journey as it unfolds here will include preparations for Christmas and a charity fair, a number of joyful and unexpected events (and a couple of painful ones), as well as an extended visit with Fizz - Sam’s veterinary helper - who provides her own POV-based chapters, intermingling with Sam’s, where she reveals a terrible and hidden trauma from her past, as she embarks on a path of healing (and learns the key to the mending of her broken heart).
A lovely finish to a tender series, as we say goodbye to Sam and her literary world, it’s safe to say there will be more from this author - if not directly on these wonderful characters, then certainly on an intersecting and tantalizing off-shoot.
A great big thank you to the author and the publisher for an ARC of this book. All thoughts provided are my own.
This was one emotional roller coaster read and I felt sad that it is the end of this brilliant series. I have become totally invested in Hedgehog Hollow stories and all of the characters, I loved them all and this one was no exception. Jessica's books are just so easy to read and so easy to get sucked in that I always feel a part of the book. Her writing just flows well and with different life situations for the characters, it feels quite realistic!
Sam, is one of the kindest, patient, most forgiving people I've probably ever read about and I couldn't help but love her. Josh, her husband is amazing, he is so supportive and would do anything for Sam and their extended family. It's been brilliant to follow them on this journey of building Hedgehog Hollow. With their baby due soon, there is a lot to do and Christmas is around the corner but of course, it's not plain sailing.
Fizz is one of the volunteers at the rescue centre and she is a breath of fresh air, so bubbly and seems carefree. I instantly liked her from the beginning of the series. I always hoped Fizz and Phoebe would get together but Fizz had a girlfriend...until now. She has been living with a terrible secret for many years and now is the time for that secret to be told. It must have been torturing to have kept that a secret for so many years but because of Fizz's bubbly nature she hid it well.
As they say, all good things must come to an end and much to my dismay this book concludes the Hedgehog Hollow series. I could read about Samantha, Josh, Hedgehog Hollow and all of the characters for a long time to come. I do recommend reading the series from the beginning to really get the feel for these characters' lives. I have to thank Jessica Redland for such a brilliant series that has really touched my heart. I also now know things about hedgehogs I never knew before!
Christmas is coming, miracles are in the air For everyone who for Hedgehog Hollow care. With babies expected and romances, too, A glorious festive read I highly recommend to you!
A fantastic possibly finale, it has everything you need With drama, secrets, romance and more to read. A heartwarming addition to this fantastic series Returning to visit there never wearies!
With hedgehogs and badgers as well as a deer The rescue continues though changes are near. With hope and losses, celebrations and grief, too You may well need to keep handy a tissue or two!
So good to catch up on the people there Sharing in their experiences, finding how they fare. For several characters they're finding romance And giving love another chance.
There is family drama as history is revealed About secrets that were previously concealed. Being courageous to face up to the past Hoping for justice to be served at last.
A lovely story in a delightful setting Now no more clues about it are you getting! For my complementary copy, I say thank you, As I share with you this, my honest review.
I listened to this on audiobook. This is book 6 of a 6 book series.
So book 6, the last book to the series has been the best one yet, definitely my favourite. So much going on, most of it all good, but there were a couple of sad moments too. Plus there were a few scenes that actually bought tears to my eyes, which is always a good sign of how good a writer is, if what they write can bring tears to their readers eyes.
I’ve absolutely and thoroughly enjoyed my time at Hedgehog Hollow, mingling with all of the wonderful characters. I can’t recommend this series enough, certainly one of my favourite. I’m very sad that it has come to an end, as will miss the characters so very much.
A nice feel good Christmas story. Although some of the characters had dark secrets which could shatter lives, once they were revealed only relief was found. Nice that everyone got their happy ever after. This is book 6 out of 6 but I don't feel the need to read any of the preceeding books as this one ties all the individual stories up nicely.
3.5⭐️ Jessica Redland is always able to make such gorgeous characters that you absolutely love! That being said I haven’t read all of the Hedgehog Hollow books in order and thought this would be way more festive than it was - but overall I still really enjoyed this! And there was a great recap at the start regarding what had happened up to this point in hedgehog hollow!
I really loved this last settlement and ma sad it’s the last one… sad topics (abuse, and difficult births) are not over present or dramatized and it doesn’t put a damper on the book. The only cringey thing would have been the pregnancy 3 months after giving birth…
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
I’m sorry to reach turns of the series! The storyline of abuse has returned for another character, so fair warning if that triggers you. I find myself wishing I was surrounded by the unconditional love of such friends as is depicted in Hedgehog Hollow. A good read!
Fantastic last book in the Hedgehog Hollow series. Jessica has written a lovely story about an ever expanding extended family with intertwining lives. I’m sorry it’s finished but I happened to pick up Healing Hearts at Bumblebee Farm yesterday which I will save for another time.
This book like all the others didn't disappoint and I loved reading about Sam, Josh and all the other characters we come to know and love. Totally lovely end to a wonderful series, really enjoyed.
