So this is a solid 3.5 stars. This really wasn't a bad book. In fact the story was very good. I didn't put it down. But so many things annoyed me...
A) I mean what did Sutton actually look like, there's a part that says she has dark hair then she's blond. We don't know her eye colour, and yes I know those are semantics but they help build the characters.
B) The main scenarios that affected both of them were done so poorly, yet had the potential to create some real tear jerking moments.
C) Like if you've never read a book where the H cries in almost every chapter, then this is the book to read... for the experience.
Maybe the fault is mines in that I have a preconceived idea of what an alpha H is supposed to be. Flint was depicted as somewhat wimpy if you ask me. I mean he even his responses to her friends were not done in a macho way but were almost "bitchy".
D) I liked the reverse grovelling but it was so quick and weak.
E) I hated how he let Sutton bulldoze him, things were not eased into, they were rushed. I mean there was so much happening in this book that made it unputdownable, but it was like wham Bam, move on to the next thing.
I'll be reading more from this series because I love all the characters and their participation in the story.

The broken rockstar and the sweetheart B-list actress in search of a new job...
Sounds like every other rockstar romance, doesn't it ? Well, you can trust Tania Joyce to give us something new, raw and emotional. The rockstar is not your typical asshole, on the contrary, as a side character said to him : " you care too much about everyone else and not your self". The sweetheart actress is not so sweet, she has a very stubborn streak, and their chemistry is off the charts.
It's the first book in a new series and the side characters are really interesting. Their own stories promise to be pretty good (personal message to Tanya : Please break the dibs rule for Maddie and Slip...)

This is my favorite Rockstar romance that I've read. I love that Flick wasn't just some cliché musician. It definitely won't be for everyone but I love broken men who need help being better lol I'm a fixer

Oh My Goodness! What. A. Story. A story of life, love and heartbreak - but not any old story, not just any old life. This one is a sizzler - heartbreaker, tear jerker, ecstaticly joyfull, shocking, and a reflection of life's turbulent passage. Above all, it is about friendship, deep abiding friendship, and love.
A fantastic story line, woven together with well composed passages that will hold you enthralled. Just when you think the story has to have a happy ending, a drunken, cocaine snorting nut-job strides in from stage right, and throws everyone, including the reader, into a spin.
Don't read this story on a bus or train - you will miss your stop for sure. I couldn't put it down, the characters drew me in and I was cheering them on, warning them not to, and wiping the tears when shit happened, again. Just like life only way more exciting and enthralling.

OH BOY... Buckle up!!!
Tania Joyce has done it again!! Now I loved all her books, and I have always loved a certain character... after reading this... GAH sorry not sorry FLINT is amazing.
Flint has gone through one of the worst things someone can go through losing his bandmate to a car accident... oh did I mention it was also his kid brother... Ya and that's just page 1!!
Flint obviously didn't deal well drank himself into oblivion and was already on his labels sh-t list, for be in just about every tabloid. He ran the gauntlet for tabloid fodder... or did he? When his agent and band members hold an intervention for him, he has one choice clean up or the label drops you. Of course there is a plan, because there is always a plan and that is Sutton.
Sutton a sweet girl next door actress with the candy coated image. Which of course is fine nothing wrong with the good girl, unless you want the big roles the block buster roles, but in a dog eat dog, gritty city like Hollywood sweet won't cut it! So when her agent and Flint's agent decide to pull the ultimate publicity stunt and couple their clients... ya the sparks fly in a good way.
Sutton helps Flint deal with a lot of things he's held on to and of course Flint helps Sutton by introducing her to some great people (including my past book boyfriend) helping her stand up for herself, and well falling head over heels.
I LOVED this book SO much!!! I'd give more than 5 stars if I could! Super highly recommend!

Obsessed!!
This book was EVERYTHING! The characters were to die for! I LOVED the plot, the growth, the writing!!!! and just everything about this book! I am counting down till boom 2 comes out! Already recommending this book to anyone who will listen!

A fake relationship between a rockstar and an actress is my jam. Scarred Strings by Tania Joyce is a well-written, hot love story with characters of many facets.
Flint is the lead singer of Flintlocks, a rock band on the cusp of truly making it big. He lost his brother in a car accident that he survived, and as a result, is having great difficulty putting his life back together. His brother was also a member of the band. Luckily, his two bandmates who are also his best friends, provide him with a ton of support and encouragement. After months of grieving and feeling guilty for living, Flint is coupled with Sutton, who is able to reach his depths and get him to fall in love with music once again.
Sutton is a talented actress on a successful TV show that is finishing its final season. Getting a new role has proven quite difficult, due to her being typecast as one of America's sweethearts. In addition, one of co-stars always sabotages her auditions. Sutton wants to shed her sweet persona, so spending time with Flint seems to be the way to do it. Overtime they fall into lust and love.
I enjoyed this steamy romance. I loved how Flint loved, with his heart and soul. He was definitely swoon-worthy. Sutton was a bit naive at times, however, she evolved and found her true self. This is the first book from the author's brand new series, The Flintlocks, and it can be read as a standalone. I can't wait for the second book in early 2023!

In an effort to get him back into the world, his manager sets him up with good girl B-list actress, Sutton, who is rebuilding her life from her own past traumas. Can they help each other save careers on the brink of disaster, and heal themselves at the same time?
I was hooked immediately by the authenticity of the characters and the emotions being conveyed, especially with Flint and the loss he suffered. The world building and character development in the book is excellent! Flint and Sutton are relatable, though I did want to shake Sutton at times, when her insecurities made her stupid, but that happens sometimes. The chemistry between them was seriously hot, like melt my iPhone level! There were a couple surprising and intriguing plot twists, which I always appreciate in a book. The supporting characters were top notch as well, and I can’t wait to read more about the rest of the Flintlocks! And, as someone who read and loved the Everhide series, I was ecstatic to see the Everhide family pop into this book!! Honestly, this was an amazing start to a new series, definitely 5 stars!

Flint was the gorgeous, sexy front man of his band but he was a hot mess. He wasn’t an alcoholic but lately he’s been drunk more days then not. He was suffering a great loss but it was so much more, I couldn’t help but feel for him. The poor guy was in quicksand and the ultimatum had been issued. He had four months to get himself together, start writing music for the next album or the label would drop the band. So grudgingly he agreed to fake date Sutton. This girl is beautiful but doesn’t feel it, and doesn’t see it. She’s suffered in this business and soon she’ll be jobless and probably lose the little she has, so operation fake date the rockstar is on. When these two met they had instant chemistry and they were so good together. She was beautiful, smart, sassy and just what Flint needed in his life. It was funny to see them fight the attraction, definitely a battle they were going lose, big time. When they got together I thought my kindle would explode, they were so hot. I loved this book, these two were broken but they fixed each other. I’m giving this book five stars, the ending was awesome. I highly recommend this book and I can’t wait to read more about the Flintlocks, maybe about the new bassist?

OMG, I so enjoyed this book - bad boy rocker Flint is in a rough place, just having lost his brother, Phil, the bass player in his band, Flintlocks. It's been a hard road, he can't seem to get himself together, losing his brother - he was in the car too, Flint can't seem to get the visions out of his head; his parents blame him for the loss, wanting nothing to do with Flint; he's also lost his love of music, can't sing, can't play, most importantly, can't seem to grasp on to lyrics or music. Thankful he has his band brothers, he'd do anything for them.
He is set up on a 'date' with Sutton, who is also struggling, but with her celebrity presence; the managers of Flint and Sutton think it will be good for both of them to 'date' and push the envelope of what people are thinking of them - she is the good girl dating the bad boy, and visa versa.
There is some instant chemistry - Sutton is not used to the brashness coming off Flint, and Flint is wanting, he's not sure what, from Sutton, but he is definitely interested.
The frozen walls around Flint's heart start to melt, Sutton is good for him - makes him realize everything that is wrong right now - helps him put the pieces back together - in turn, Flint is helping Sutton, she is being noticed, but of course things happen - sometimes of their own doing - things fall apart.... but because of love - you do anything to get it back - it takes time, but it's worth it.

This was an amazing start to this new series. Tania continues to work her magic on these characters and their trials and tribulations to keep us glued to every page. Let me just say Flint tugged my heart strings with the loss that he was dealing with. He then gets set up with Sutton who is also dealing with her own traumas. They come together in true Tania Joyce fashion and I was HOOKED!
Both Sutton and Flint both showed so much emotion and they with such authentic characters. They were exactly what each other needed and came into each other's life at exactly the right time. I liked that this is not everything is roses once they meet story and they have to travel some roads both together and independently to get to the right destination of their HEA. Let's not forget the all-important chemistry...they had this in spades!! (Yes, this deserved the double exclamation point) I am surprised my phone was not smoking from some of those pages.
As this is the first book in the series, Tania really developed the supporting characters and just makes me eager to read their stories. I especially love the cameo appearances of the Everhide characters as I just loved that series and nothing is better than seeing beloved characters live on in another series.
This is a series you do not want to miss so put this on your TBR list or just gobble it up now and eagerly await the next installment like me as I know it will be worth the wait.

Each story is emotional, with real feelings ranging from overwhelming grief, anger, hurt, uncertainty, passion, and love making for a rocky road. Yet Flint and Sutton work through each emotional rollercoaster as they begin as an arranged romance that explodes into searing passion. As they fall in love, will Sutton be able to commit to Flint? Who wants a relationship? Will Sutton’s past experiences so jade her that she will walk away from Flint? Can Flint find the love for music and songwriting that he lost after the death of his bass-playing brother? What will happen to the Flintlocks as a band? Scarred Strings is a must-read! Tania Joyce's songs to go with her characters are so good that each should be sold as songs for a rockstar band to record. Her rockstar romance books are all stellar stories that I have reread repeatedly!

Ok wow Tania Joyce has done it to me again.
I was on my seat, couldn't put it down sweet, hot,sexy and heartbreaking. She also made me feel for the charcters I needed tissues.
Flint has lost his way how will he come back and will the band be able to fix it so they don't fall apart.
There's fun,laughter, friendship, love , heartbreak and tears 😢 can't wait for more.
Why do you always make me cry 😢 I fell in love with another band of yours but you 💔 broke me to I can't wait for more ohh and I'll need these in paperback one day thank you for letting me meet and fall in love with Flint and Sutton and the band of Flintlocks.

Another captivating novel from start to finish,once started couldn’t put it down as wanted to know what would happen. Two young adults both facing tough times are brought together by mutual acquaintances to try and help them out. Where does this lead Flint and Sutton? Will a true romance blossom? Through the ups and downs of the throws that the “fake”relationship puts them through Flint and Sutton develop feeling for each other. So where do they end up? One has to keep reading and prey they open up and admit they have fallen in “LOVE”. Does this journey have a happy ending one keeps reading to find out! What will happen next? Where and how will this adventure end?

Well Flint has just moved into top spot as my favourite rockstar from Tania Joyce (sorry Hunter)
A damaged rockstar in a set up relationship with a struggling and troubled actress... they just shouldn't work....should they?
This story is so worth the read and as usual Tania has so many new characters in the story that I am now intrigued by and can not wait to find out their stories too.

Fantastic Read
I received this book via a #goodreads giveaway. Thanks to all involved.
Flint and Sutton rock. I could not put it down. (My husband was not pleased I kept asking him to repeat himself, because I was so involved in it.)
I loved the realism in this book. People aren't perfect and it's hard for everyone to accept themselves. Two damaged souls, needing a fresh start.
I giggled at the initial meeting between Flint and Sutton. I sweated at the starting sparks and following fire. Cheered when Sutton and Maddy put Georgia in her place.
Can't wait for the next.

I've read the fake boyfriend/girlfriend many times but this was exceptionally written. I loved the characters and also the secondary characters too.
One section I really hated was her getting in the car when he begged her not to get in. I lost a lot of respect for her. You'll know when you read it.
He's close to book boyfriend as I've read in awhile. That guy loves hard!!

Beide Protagonisten sind authentisch beschrieben, man kann sich in beide sehr gut hineinversetzen und ihre Handlungen sind klar nachvollziehbar.
Das Setting ist perfekt beschrieben, man hat sofort alles vor Augen beim Lesen.
Er steckt in einem Tief und bei ihr läuft der Filmvertrag aus. Um sich wieder in Erinnerung zu rufen bei den Fans, hat der Manager der beiden eine grandiose Idee. Beide werden einige Dates haben und somit wieder in aller Munde sein, so seine Idee.
Beide sind so unterschiedlich, wie Tag und Nacht und dich so ein unglaubliches Gespann, was die beiden allerdings alles erleben, muss man selber herausfinden.
Eine wirklich tolle Story die nicht an wünschen übriglässt. Bin schon sehr auf den nächsten Teil gespannt.
Eine ganz klare Kauf-Leseempfehlung.

I absolutely loved the story of Flint and Sutton. A broken rock star and a sweet actress, helping each other out!
Their chemistry is off the charts from the start, and loved the story of them falling in love.

Flint new book boyfriend he loved wholeheartedly. Sutton and flint helped each other when it came the way they dealt their problems.

Loved it
I loved reading Flint and Sutton’s story!! At times she was a bit annoying yet she was amazing at helping Flint overcome his depression and get back his love of music. Great side characters too. Can’t wait for more Flintlocks!

Loved this story of the Rockstar and the Actress that are set up for publicity, but then, love happens! Sutton and Flint are both broken but find ways to heal each other. I just wish we didn't have to wait so long for book 2. But as Sutton says in this book "baby steps"!!!

I found this novel to deliver a great rock and roll story. I ran the gamut of emotions in reading this story. I found it ran true to life with flawed characters learning the realities of life as they ventured along their life's path.

Amazing. Read and I loved it . I got a arc for my opinion. Once u start to read it , u won’t be able to put it down till u are finished of it . It sucks u in and keeps u going to the end of the book

wow! All the feels!
Loved this story and the characters so much. Excellent character building and storyline, really made you invested in the characters and what they were experiencing. I don’t usually write reviews but this one was definitely worth it!
