Aún estoy un poco confusa con esta historia este arco dentro de la escuela no me termina de convencer.
Sin embargo el final del tomo fue inesperado y la verdad quiero saber qué pasa a continuación

Stuff's happening, there's thematic connections, we're back on track, boys.

Kind of. I still think this whole arc (so far) could've been a separate in-universe story not unlike Wizard's Blue or Jack Flash and could've even worked better on its own. We are getting some connective material between Elias and Alcyone, and his friendship with Simeon, but otherwise I don't really see why Chise and Elias have to be here, narratively. They're occasionally comic relief, and Chise is doing her usual thing of being a kind and decent human being which bewilders everyone around her, but otherwise it's like they've become secondary to our cast of students and the alchemist families in general. They're *involved* in the story, but they don't feel like a part of it, and I think that is the crux of what makes this arc off-putting compared to the first.

"so much happens because of what I am..I think about it a lot..but I'm not sure how to feel about it" Chise's growing concern.

the lockdown at the college continues...students are falling I'll..their energy draining..can Chise help?

the last few pages do pick up the pace...

"are we sure they'se are tomatoes? they're growing on a tree"
"who knows, maybe it's some kind of tree-mato!"

In my latest catch up on this series, I read it from volume 9 (the conclusion of the Cartaphilus arc) to the end of volume 17. This follows Chise and Elias as they join the school for Alchemists, and follows them as they meet a large number of new characters and learn about the situations they are living in. Volume 17 does not complete this arc, though it feels like it is getting close to a conclusion. I very much enjoyed the story, but there is a *lot* going on, with a lot of very different characters to meet who all have their own back stories and inner demons. Reading any one of the volumes in this set would be pretty confusing, and the story is not yet completed. While I read and enjoyed it up to volume 17, it would be more satisfying to wait until the current arcs are complete (volume 18? 19?) and read it all in one go.

With all the things going on with Philomena, this volume drive home for me that you never really know what someone is going through 🤔

From all the volumes regarding the College, this one is my favourite so far; I'm inclined to believe this is due to the inclusion of small segments with Chise's and Elias' adventures in their country side house which is a lovely contrast to the lack of Chise-Elias interaction focus present during the College Arch.
I truly enjoyed the character development present in this volume, a strong must have in comparison to the previous volumes where I felt a slow paced world and background building seemed to swallow the narrative.
This volume has one of my favourite quotes so far: "the rain hides away the smell of the sun".

This volume moves the college arc toward its climax and has quite the cliffhanger ending. I have appreciated that the recent volumes have done a lot of character work with Chise's classmates. For how many characters are introduced in this arc, Yamazaki does a good job of making them unique characters that we learn more about as the story progresses. I cannot wait to pick up the next volume since we're finally starting to get to the heart of the mystery.

It has been such a long time since I read volume 15 so I don't remember all the details of what is going on.

The students have been in lockdown for a over a month and because the person has yet to be caught, the students are also unable to go home for the holiday.

Someone or something is stealing the magical energy of people. When this happens to Chise, the students that have been in bed sick, all recover but Chise looks drained. There is something going on with Philomela, where she does not leave her room. Rian intends to apologize to her, but she does not want visitors. We do see Philomela history with Veronica. Veronica also felt caged as a kid.

Close to the end of the volume, Philomela is taken over by something. Joseph is seen helping Chise but she isn't sure if he was real or not.

There is so much going on with the volume that I am a bit confused by some events. Maybe a Youtube video can help explain it to me. The next volume I believe gets released soon.

12/22 2.5 Stars. I will admit I didn't see the twist culprit coming, but with all the continued overly wordy info-dumping the shock factor just wasn't there and I was basically like: "Oh, I guess that makes sense. Should've seen that coming, I guess. And wonderful, another year-long cliffhanger." I will be interested to see how Chise handles the situation now, but yeah sadly wasn't impressed yet again with the way this Arc has gone. Please let's just go back home already.

Well this just got very complicated and interesting.
Lots more questions than answers in this volume and honestly I'm not surprised to see that Philomena is at the center of this arc-unfortunately I feel it just takes away from Chise but I'm intrigued to see how these arcs are all connected.

Also that's such an illegal cliffhanger!

After the disappointment of volume 15, this volume recenters the action on Chise and Elias, while still providing opportunities for readers to learn more about the students. Philomela is becoming a tragic character, and with the cliffhanger ending, it remains to be seen what will become of her.

This series is denser than most probably give it credit for. There is a twist in this volume, but what hits me is sitting looking after completing the 16th volume, I think of all the other series which have progressed much less. The college life continues within the pages of this volume. The art is as always beautiful, and the story is entertaining and captivating.

I do enjoy this series, but I think I liked it better when I was binging it rather than now, having to wait for each new volume.

Ce tome était long mais en même temps il se passe enfin quelque chose ! J’ai des sentiments assez contradictoires face à ce manga mais on verra bien qu’elle direction ça va prendre
