A lost Imperial box A dangerous flight And a SIM card to die for
For an art historian, searching for an Imperial box thought lost in the Cultural Revolution was a dream come true. Having a Hong Kong billionaire as my boss meant starting my journey with a first-class ticket to meet him. But my dream was short-lived when my chatty seatmate dropped dead midflight. The police are trying to kill me and the U.S. Embassy can’t help. Even my bodyguard is being chased by the Triad. My son isn’t even safe at his martial arts school. There is nowhere we can go, and no one we can trust. Is this all because of the SIM card I found in my bag? Or is it a warning against my search for the missing Imperial box? I thought I was just in the wrong place at the wrong time, but… Something sinister is waiting, and it wants our lives as payment.
This was a very engrossing thriller with plenty of action, relatable, down-to-earth characters, and plenty of suspense. I think my favorite parts were the touch of history included in the story and the relationship between Mia and Rafael.
One of my least favorite ploys an author sometimes uses is having the 'detective' seem to pull information out of thin air in order to solve the mystery. Ms. Lawrence doesn't do that. She gives the reader all of the information that Mia has. If we can't put it together as well as Mia, that's our fault, not Ms. Lawrence's. I felt Ms. Lawrence did a great job of having a resolution that made complete sense without the use of any smoke or mirrors. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series. I received a review copy from the author via Booksprout and this is my honest opinion. I would like to thank them and Ms. Lawrence for the opportunity to read Lethal Red Secrets.
This is such an action packed thriller that once I picked up I just could not put down. An enthralling and exciting murder mystery with relatable characters and a storyline that could possibly happen!! It’s one hell of a ride filled with suspense and twists that have you hanging on every word trying to solve this puzzle. A fantastic thrilling adventure!
The way GK Lawrence describes everything around her characters ( Mia and Raphael ) gives me the sense of being w/ them on their new task of solving a murder and find what Mia was hired for (I'm being cryptic so I don't say to much). I'm ready for another one of this author's books.
Lethal Red Secrets (Mia Treadwell Murder Mysteries #2) by G.K. Lawrence was received through Booksprout. Hired to find a missing Imperial box that was thought lost Mia heads to Hong Kong. On the way there her seatmate drops dead midflight. Short time after she arrives police are trying to kill her and her bodyguard is being chased by the Triad. There is nowhere they, traveling with son, can go and no one they can trust. Is this because of a SIM card she found in her bag or is it a warning against her search for the box. Will she make it out and if so how? I really enjoyed reading and now I am giving an honest review for this book and I definitely recommend. Hoping I get to read more of her work. Loved it. This and book one are available on Amazon
This is a new author for me and I'm hooked!! Lawrence has a way of describing scenes, motives and objects that paints a perfect picture in your mind! They also have a talent of giving you a history lesson without coming off as a teacher reading out of a textbook. If there were teachers like that in school, more kids would look forward to school!! The story was a fast read for me, I read it in one sitting. It was full of mystery, suspense and knowledge...the perfect recipe for an interesting book!! I can't wait to read more about Mia, I have so many questions that I'm hoping will be answered as the series progresses!!.

I really enjoyed this book. I'd like to know a bit more about Mia because most of her past is still a mystery. The characters are great and mostly believable. Mia is the only one I found difficult to accept. I mean, she's basically a soccer mom who gets involved with Chinese espionage and doesn't get killed. I enjoyed the world building and the pace of the story. It's pretty thrilling, even discounting Mia's strange adaptability to crazy situations. Overall, I'd recommend this if you'd like a clean, quick mystery/thriller.
This was an excellent follow up to the previous in series. Kept me guessing most of the time with the various twists and strong characters. Mia is a PI with a difference clearly demonstrated in some of her thought processes. Art is the overarching theme but there are some interesting insights involving military and Chinese history. A great read.
This book started off slow but got better about half way through. I loved that with the photo different people would see different things first like Mia seen the man and her son the car. I loved the twists and turns and when Mia finally figured it all out. Plus the ending was perfect gave me a laugh.
An American art historian receives an interesting proposal from someone in Hong Kong . When she arrives in Hong Kong, she is employed by a very wealthy man, who wants her to find a piece of long art. However, all is not what it seems. Great adventure and interesting facts. Very engaging.
Mia has been tasked with finding a rare antique for a billionaire and she and her son have to travel to Hongkong. Deception and betrayal are on the cards and Mia and her son are trapped in Hongkong. A thriller which I enjoyed reading and which set my pulse racing. Plenty of action in this page turner.
Allow most of a day for this fast-paced thriller set mostly in present-day Hong Kong, where widow and art historian Mia Treadwell and her 10-year-old son Raphael are spending a summer week while she fulfills a job searching for a missing box.

This was soooo good! Wow. I am just blown away. I want more and more books with Mia & Raphael. I would have a request too. Maybe to see Fong come to the better side of things....I hope. I really liked him. This was one heck of a rollercoaster and I'm so glad I picked it up.

This book is full of action and intrigue. It is so good. Really great characters and a story line that keeps you reading. I can't wait to see what she gets involved in when the next book comes out.
An action filled mystery story and a wonderful beginning to a new series. Mia is caught up in an international mystery. Everyone around her is in danger and she is confused by what is happening. She has to solve why people are trying to kill her. Is it because of an imperial box that she is tasked to find? Or a SIM card that she discovers in her belongings? A great thrill ride.

This was a good book but it needed better editing! That’s why I gave it 3 instead 4 star. It was a page turner with plenty of action and drama. I love the Mia Treadwell character! This was exciting and full of drama and excitement! I really enjoyed it.
