An intrepid medic tracks a killer looking for the ultimate thrill.

Police doctor Callie Hughes is having doubts about her life on the south coast after her boyfriend’s move to Belfast, when a mysterious death draws her once again into a criminal investigation.

A woman is found dead in a holiday let. There are no signs of sexual assault but her bruised neck and protruding tongue suggest foul play. Callie notes a small mark on the woman’s partly exposed breast.

The once supportive DI Steve Miller has a new love interest and without him being on the ball, the case seems to be going nowhere. Well, that’s until another body is found some days later. Going downhill would be more accurate.

Suspicious that someone is targeting visitors to Hastings, the medic decides to carry out her own inquiry with the help of Miller’s increasingly frustrated partner, DS Bob Jeffries.

But without a safety net, and faced with a killer who knows how to cover their tracks, Callie is the only person standing between them and freedom. And that makes her the number one target.

Another Excellent Story

Another excellent story by Candy featuring Doctor Callie Hughes who whilst working part time for the police she seems to get herself involved in the cases more than you would expect. Great characters and a very different story line. Looking forward to reading more in the series.

Brilliant! Another thrilling mystery in the Dr. Callie Hughes collection. It is quite possibly my favourite book of the series so far and certainly the reason why I am so tired today because I stayed up late finishing this! I would highly recommend to fellow readers but I would strongly advise reading the previous books in the series first.

Good Plot and Characters

I got into the book quickly, and felt compelled to keep reading till it ended. The plot carried me along to the end, and all-in-all, it was a very satisfying read.

Each book in this series just got better. So loved Callie her friend Kate and of course Billy. Thought this was the last in the series but how it ended makes me feel there must be more. As a child I visited Hastings quite often and need to visit again!

Loved it

Another great read. Enjoying this series of books and just waiting for Callue to decide what she is going to do with her life but I'm sure I know already.

This is a good series. A bit formulaic but still a good easy read. Don't think the author will continue and maybe it's a good time to end
