I liked a lot more than the first book. I felt more comfortable with this shifter’s universe and I was able to recognize all the different characters. I like the way Jae Greyn writes. I just needed more details in the first book. I plan to read the third book right away.
Loved it. Read Lou, and pre-ordered this one. As soon as it hit my email, I had to read it. Great intro with Sawyer. The first fade to black had me wondering, but then I met Jaime and fell in love myself. His mix of charm and seriousness had me laughing. His reaction to the stuffed animal was hilarious! That scene by the pool was hot. The plot was there and kept me guessing until the end. I hope there's another book. I am loving this series.

Even though this book focuses on a new couple, it is a continued story, so it is highly recommended to read book 1 first.
This is a very short story that is fast paced. I enjoyed the world that the author created. The story was interesting and kept my attention from start to finish.I did feel at the end that I wanted more. Also, I'm not a fan of fantasy with zero heat!
Both of the main characters were loveable and I enjoyed the side characters as well. The main characters made an ok couple but I didn't really feel the chemistry between them like I did with the previous couple in book 1. Their relationship moved way too quick and wasn't believable. Especially when they didnt have the fated mates magic to blame like the other couple. Their relationship could have been developed alot more.
There is no relationship angst but a whole ton of family drama. At times there were so many names dropped and twists in the drama that it got confusing. I had to rewind and relisten. I think having it be longer with more explanation would have helped alot. It felt rushed and felt more was needed. Overall it was ok but I enjoyed book 1 more.
Lance West did a phenomenal job with the narration. He had a pleasant reading voice. He expressed all the emotions and brought the story to life. He gave the characters distinct voices that made it easy to follow the story and suited the characters well. Not just the main characters but the side characters as well.
Short, lion shifter M/M story with a mystery and resulting intrigue I truly enjoyed this book but I would have liked it more with fewer characters to keep up with. After enjoyably reading “Lou” I said the same thing. I’m going to read “Indigo” immediately so all the family connections are still in my mind. This is definitely a worthy series but I recommend reading them in quick succession. I would also recommend to the author that a familial chart in the front or back of the book would be helpful for the Prides involved in that book, at least for the Fire Ridge Pride. Sawyer Beaux is at his twin brother’s wedding when he meets Jaime Wheeler. Sawyer is from the Juniper Springs Pride apparently more modern in outlook and Jaime is from the Fire Ridge Pride which is decidedly “old school.” Sawyer is not liked by his own father who sees him as useless, which he is far from so Sawyer has no problem moving to Fire Ridge. Their connection is immediate, but this book is more about the intrigue going on among Red, Bobby Jo and several others. When that is resolved with surprising events, Sawyer and Jaime get their HEA. I volunteered to review an ARC of this book through Gay Romance Reviews. Love the covers of this series.
This was a good story. Great world building and it kept me interested throughout. I liked both Jaime and Sawyer, however, there was very little relationship building between them. They spent a night together, knew they wanted to be together, and that was that. There were some cute moments- like with the movie date- and though most of the time they were apart, they had regular contact.
Honestly to me, this story was mostly about pack politics and family drama. The romance between the two men felt liked an afterthought and what was going on with Bobby Jo felt like the focus. There didn't seem to be much chemistry or heat between the two. Most of the intimate scenes were fade to black, or short and undetailed so it felt very tame. I listened to the whole audiobook because I did want to know what would happen, but as a romance, it was disappointing.
Lance West did a good job with his narration of the different characters' voices. This was my first book by this author. I could either read/listen to more, or I could not.
Jaime by author Jae Greyn is the second book in the Fire Ridge Pride series. I love this genre so much. The connection between the characters is amazingly well done. I did not read this series in order, and I was not lost starting here. I am going to put this author on my watch list because now I am wanting the next book. There is political intrigue, love, and a lot of heart and soul that kept me reading.
Sawyer is a twin. He is from Juniper Springs Pride. It is a more progressive pride. I love his strength and loyalty. He is the person you want on your side in a fight.
Jaime: he is a loveable, sassy man who is more the lover than the fighter type. I loved him. He is cute, sweet, and just what Sawyer needs in his life. He is from the Fire Ridge pride which is more traditional.
Overall, I loved this story and want more!! I cannot wait for the next part of this amazing story.
This is the 2nd book in the Fire Ridge Pride shifters series. It is a nice, fun little story that pack a lot into it's short length and is a good read. Jaime and Sawyer are a cute couple and as their tale unfolds we learn more about the Prides and characters met in the previous book. There are a few things. There isn't much explination about things with the Prides and their abilities and the places they live. The reader has to figure out a lot for themself. Also, these are dual POV and it is something I happen to enjoy in books. the only thing with that is that I wish there was some chapter heading that says who the POV in that chapter is. Sometimes it takes rereading parts to figure out who's POV we are learning. Adding: Ive now read both the ebook and audio versions of this book Lance west does a great job with his narration. He is able to bring the characters and world to life. I can't wait for further books in this series.
MM shifter series Good world-building, a new shifter world full of lions.
Second book of the series. And I'm invested. The characters are developing well, although there are a lot of characters to keep up with. Jamie and Sawyer are the main characters of this book.
After the first book, I was confused and overwhelmed, but this subsided with this book.
I am looking forward to book three. Lance West was a pleasure to listen to, clean and concise. I speed this narration up to 1.35 on Audible, which is usual for me.
Jaime Fire Ridge Pride, Book 2 By: Jae Greyn Narrated by: Lance West Series: Fire Ridge Pride, Book 2 Length: 2 hrs and 19 mins
❤❤❤❤ Overall 🎧🎧🎧🎧🎧 Narration 📚📚📚📚 Story Read at 1.50 speed on Audible
I received this audiobook for free from GRR at my request. My review is my opinion and an honest review - neither the author nor GRR influenced my opinion.
The second book of the Fireridge series continues where "Lou" leaves off (though he's still in the story) weaving a paranormal soap opera worthy of a daytime TV series. Without giving you any spoilers, the mystery of the series is revealed in book one, and it is shocking. While Jae's writing style is tight with an elegant economy of words, the complex nuanced characters remain three-dimensional. I felt it moved much slower than "Lou." In all honesty, I'd started with the audible. Upon reaching chapter 11, I had to switch to the ebook because I got a sense the narrator, Lance West, did not have a feel for the story, particularly when there was dialogue. There's a myriad cast of choultry characters, and when it came to the dialogue, I didn't know who was saying what to whom. But Greyn remains consistent with her rich characters and clever storytelling.
Things are getting interesting. Jaime and Sawyer, make a sweet couple. Their family circumstances create conflicts and complexities that make life more challenging. The world of the Pride is still complicated and ego driven. Jaime and Sawyer are going against traditions. Can they engineer their lives so they can still benefit the pride and get to the HEA point for them? Good story. The author has a unique writing style that leaves questions scattered in the story. I struggle to figure out who is speaking at any given time and the world building is a bit complex. I am rooting for most of the pride members to find workable solutions. Interesting story. I miss having the cover art, a cover with the name and author is a bit of a turn off. I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Okay, there is a lot going on in this book. Jaime and Sawyer spend one night together – off the page – and they’re together. Like, forever. Okay. But then there was Bobbi Jo and her baby. And about a dozen other characters I struggled to keep straight in my mind. I listened to book 1 in the series, Lou, and quite enjoyed it. I did this one too, although I admit I had a bigger struggle.
I think this series has potential, but keeping up with all the pack politics is tricky. I listened for the romance and didn’t get a lot of that, although the movie night date was cute.
Lance West is a solid narrator and I’ll definitely listen if there are more books coming out on audio.
This is a fascinating series. Despite being shorter books the author packs a ton of detail into the world building. The pack politics are complicated and I did find myself wanting to go back and reread Lou to help clarify things but that didn’t detract from my enjoyment at all. I think this is just a series where a reread to get you up to speed helps (and isn’t a burden at all given they’re shorter reads). Jaime and Sawyer were so sweet. Their interactions right from the start showed how well they would fit. Add in that they’re building on that amazing and supportive family and it made the series even better. I’m really looking forward to reading Indigo!
This book packs a punch even though it is short. I was really starting to get into the hierarchy of the packs and getting to know characters and the book was done. The majority of shifter books are patriarchal, this one was very matriarchal and not to the betterment of of the pride I felt.
Jaime and Sawyer were fairly precious. I liked them. Their interactions with family and pride were at times confusing and I had to backtrack in the book to see if I missed something. I liked their courtship and how they made their new relationship work over distance. Enough drama and spicy times to keep the story moving forward. I enjoyed it.
I loved seeing Sawyer and Jaime get their HEA here, but what really intrigued me and kept me reading was the world building the author did showing the differences between the way the two prides operate and how that affects the current members and new members like Sawyer who move to a different pride. There are schemers to be dealt with, old fashioned attitudes clashing with newer, more progressive ones and lots of great characters to embody all the differences. A great entry in the series that provides lots of insight into this world.
Jamie and Sawyer meet at a wedding, have one night together with only the phone to keep the budding relationship growing. After a month they meet up again and things take off. The pride politics cause no end of grief since they are from different prides and the rules and lifestyles are very different. It is interesting but somewhat complicated for the reader. The main characters are lovable but the large number of other family members and their attitudes are confusing. I will stick with the series and hope it gets easier.
I’m not quite sure how to feel about this audio, mainly because I felt like I missed pertinent information from the first book. But, it was an interesting piece nonetheless. Sawyer and his surprise had me dying laughing and kept me interested.
A first time listener of Lance West and his performance was remarkable! I am still fascinated by one person who is able to successfully portray two different characters with ease. Though, I have to admit, Jaime’s voice was mesmerizing, but I’m a sucker for those deep, gravely voices.
This is the story of Jaime and Sawyer, it is the 2nd book in the Fire Ridge Pride series. Please read the trigger warnings. I loved this book, it is written wonderfully with great characters. The intrigue keeps you turning the pages. I would have loved it if it was a little longer. I would suggest that you read them in order. Definitely recommended.
I received this book as an Arc and I am happily reviewing it voluntarily.
I really enjoyed this second in the series but there were parts that were so wordy they were confusing even though I’ve read the first in the series! The story was very good overall and easy to finish because you become invested in the outcome!
One night may just lead to a lifetime together but one has to return home. This may cause issues with him as it will may mean leaving them behind. Will they go with him? How will it all go? Follow them to see how they get on
The world the author created is so unique. Matriarchal, political and fascinating. I look forward to the next book in this series. I highly recommend it.
"I spent my whole life wondering what happened after that first kiss"
It's been over a year since I originally read this book. When it came out on Audible I just had to have it. After a year has passed I barely remember reading book 2, I ended up listening to it twice so I could soak it all in. As this series has progressed things have changed dramatically, what it was is not what it is. I know my review is probably somewhat confusing, if you haven't read this series, but rest assured that Jae has plans for all her men and she's not going to let you down when it's all said and done.
I highly recommend the series it's like nothing I've read before. Just when you think you got it all figured out you find out you didn't have a clue.
Lance West did an amazing job with the narration and I hope he is available to do the entire series!!! I love when one narrator is able to do that and there isn't a switch halfway thru the series.
This is a new to me author so I wasn't sure what to expect from this series. After reading book one and then this one, I am happily enjoying this series. These have been interesting stories and I look forward to reading more.
Update: The audiobook for this made the story even better. I enjoyed listening to it.
These are fairly short stories, but they are packed with details. Enjoying being drawn into the pack. Enjoying the story lines between these different couples. Desperately waiting for the next one to come out so I can keep going. Lance West is new to me too but enjoying his voice as I ride this journey. Keep them coming!
